Rev. Robert Allen Marine, Sacred Heart pastor

Rev. Robert Allen Marine, 53, of New Carlisle, died Thursday. He was pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in New Carlisle.

Father Marine was ordained to the priesthood in 1973 and his first assignment was as assistant pastor at St. Saviour Parish, Rossmoyne, while he studied school administration at the University of Cincinnati. In 1977, he was appointed principal at Catholic Central High School in Springfield, and in 1978 he was made associate pastor at St. Bartholomew Parish, Cincinnati.

From 1980 to 1982 he served as assistant superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Lansing, Mich. He then returned to Cincinnati and became principal of Moeller High School and resident associate pastor at St. Vivian Church, Kenwood.

After another stint in Michigan, Father Marine returned to the Cincinnati Archdiocese in 1990 and was appointed associate pastor at Mary, Help of Christians Parish in Fairborn and then at St. John the Baptist Parish in Harrison in 1996. He became pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in July of this year.

Survivors include his parents, David and Ruth Marine of Montgomery; and a sister, Judith Marine Huth of Florida.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church. Reception of the body will be at 4 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Donna Williams, 53, floral designer

Donna Marie Williams, a floral designer who owned Donna's Flower Shop in Georgetown, Ohio, died Saturday at age 53. Ms. Williams also had been a commercial artist.

Ms. Williams, who lived in Georgetown, was a member of the F.O.E. Lodge No. 2273 Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Scott; a daughter, Amy Simpson of Russellville, Ohio; a son, Michael of Savannah, Ga., her mother, Sylvia Ellis of Amelia; and five grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cahall Funeral Home, Georgetown. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: American Diabetes. Foundation.

Robert 'Doc' Enoch, 72, expert on gangs

Robert "Doc" Enoch, a nationally known gang expert and opponent of youth crimes, died Saturday. He was 72.

A former Sharonville police specialist, Dr. Enoch led regional law enforcement efforts starting in the mid-1980s to identify gang issues and prevent them from growing. He was among the first to notice the spread of Chicago gangs into Cincinnati.

"He loved law enforcement," said Jayne C. Parks Enoch, his wife. "He just felt if he helped one person or 10 people, it was something that he had accomplished."

As recently as 1998, Dr. Enoch served as chairman of the Board of the Roundtable of Organized Crime, which he co-founded in 1984.

The West Chester resident graduated from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law and earned his doctoral degree at the University of Maryland.

Dr. Enoch often wore a World Series ring that he earned as a bullpen catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1960. He played with the team from 1958 through 1960, and later served as a scout.

He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II and a member of the Syrian Shrine, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati.

Other survivors are a son, Robert A. Enoch of Loveland; and a daughter, Sharon O'Keefe of Mount Washington .

Visitation: 5-7 tonight at Schmidt-Dhonau Funeral Home, 10980 Reading Road, Sharonville. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Sharonville Christmas Fund, 10900 Reading Road, Cincinnati, 45241; or American Lung Association, 11113 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati 45242.

RONALD DEAN SCAGGS, 49, AND TAMMY RENA SCAGGS, 24, both of Georgetown, Ohio, died Saturday in a car accident. Mr. Scaggs was an employee for Siemens Energy and Automation Co. and a Vietnam War Army veteran. Combined services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Cahall Funeral Home, Georgetown. Edwin Russell Stearns, developed products

Edwin Russell Stearns, longtime owner of Product Investment Inc., "oozed charm. He was very charming, very personable. He made friends easily," said his wife, Margot, whom he met while operating a business in Germany.

The couple returned to Cincinnati, his birthplace, in 1974. "He took pride in his (Cincinnati) corporation where he invented, developed and patented new products," Mrs. Stearns said.

Mr. Stearns, of Indian Hill, died Monday at the Dupree Community Center in East Hyde Park. He was 67.

He loved music and was an excellent piano player, his wife said. He also enjoyed golf and participated in politics and political fund-raisers.

He was a member of the Camargo Club and the Cincinnati Country Club.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the family residence, 333 Oliver Road, Wyoming. Memorials to the charity of choice. Arrangements: Vorhis Funeral Home.

Mabel S. Wood, known for humor

Mabel Stafford Wood was delightfully mischievous. Sometimes there was method to her mischievousness. That's how she met her husband.

During World War II, she worked at a shipyard in Savannah, Ga., building Liberty Ships.

"She saw a good-looking man there she wanted to meet," said Mrs. Wood's daughter, Elaine Wallace. "She dropped her box of tools in the ocean so he would come help her. He did, and they eventually wound up getting married."

Mrs. Wood, 76, of Manassas, Ga., died Monday.

She was the mother of Cincinnati Post employee Wanda Millians and the mother-in-law of Cincinnati Post photo and graphics editor Rick Millians.

Mrs. Wood's family was amused by the ways she found to have her husband of 53 years, Royce Wood, rush to her side.

"She pretended swooning so he could scoop her up in his arms," said Mrs. Wallace. "She was a real Scarlett O'Hara."

Mrs. Wood, a history buff and avid gardener, was particularly fond of violets and hummingbirds.

Besides helping build ships during World War II, Mrs. Wood was a fire-tower watcher for the Georgia Forestry Department and worked at Madison Throwing Co. in Milledgeville, where she lived 30 years before she and her husband, who survives her, retired to Manassas in 1986.

Other survivors include a son, Alan Royce Wood; four brothers, M.W. Stafford of Pooler, Ga., Justin Stafford Of Milledgeville, Eli Stafford of Bloomingdale, Ga. and Gerald Stafford of Milledgeville; a sister, Jean Decker of Milledgeville; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be tonight at 6 p.m. at the J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home in Claxton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eastside Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Eastside Baptist Church Building Fund, 108 S. Peters St., Claxton, Ga., 30417.

Mary Ann Myers, seamstress, loving mom

Mary Ann Myers worked three jobs to support her family - one of them for years as a seamstress at the Palm Beach Co. in Cincinnati.

Mrs. Myers, 92, of Covington, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood, Ky.

"She babysat, she took in ironing - just anything she could do to make ends meet," said her daughter, Dottie Ostendorf. "We were very lucky to have her that long. She was quite a lady."

Mrs. Myers was a devout Catholic and member of St. Benedict Church in Covington, her daughter said. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Latonia American Legion and the Covington Senior Citizens.

Her husband, Martin Myers, and a son, Paul, preceded her in death. Other survivors are a son, Arnold "Bud" Myers of Fort Wright, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Mass was today at St. Benedict Church. Memorials: Rosedale Manor, 4250 Glenn Ave., Covington, Ky. 41015. Arrangements: Ronald B.  Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, Ky.
