William Gilbert, firefighter, pilot
William Charles Gilbert, 50, a former Cincinnati firefighter for 25 years and a Kentucky National Guard helicopter pilot, died Tuesday.
Doctors had predicted that Mr. Gilbert would live two years after he was diagnosed with cancer in 1993, said his son, David William Gilbert, of Austin, Texas .
"He had a good attitude about it and lots of support from friends and family," his son said. "He didn't let it get him down. He kept busy doing things."
In fact, when Mr. Gilbert retired as a helicopter pilot for the Kentucky National Guard, he built his own plane, a Flightstar light plane, his son said.
A U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, Mr. Gilbert was a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association.
Mr. Gilbert graduated from Elder High School and attended the University of Cincinnati before joining the
military.
Other survivors include his wife, Mary Kay Kraft Gilbert; another son, Dennis Robert Gilbert of Cincinnati; his father, William F.; and a brother, Donald, of Cincinnati.
Visitation is 5 to 9 tonight at Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Road, Delhi Township. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Williams Church, Price Hill.
Memorials may be made to Elder High School Band; St. Williams Church, Building and Maintenance Fund; or the American Cancer Society.

Audrey Campbell, lawyer and civic volunteer
Cincinnati attorney Audrey Annette Campbell, 45, died unexpectedly Wednesday.
Ms. Campbell, who had a private practice on Vine Street downtown, was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law and Ohio Wesleyan University.
She was a member of the Evanston Community Council; a board member of Emmanuel Community Center; a board member of Lydia's House for infants testing HIV positive; and the Cincinnati Bar Association.
Ms. Campbell was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Evanston, where she was a former Sunday school superintendent and member of the board of trustees.
"She was outgoing," said her father, Curtis Campbell. "She loved to help people. That's the reason she went into law."
Her father also said the family is awaiting results from an autopsy on Ms. Campbell.
Ms. Campbell also is survived by a sister, Jacqueline Campbell; two brothers, John Campbell and Eric Campbell; and several aunts and uncles.

Sister Ann Marie Brockman, teacher
Sister Ann Marie Brockman, O.S.U., a retired teacher at St. Ursula Academy, died Wednesday. She was 96.
Sister Ann Marie taught and was principal at Holy Name School from 1921 until 1940, when she started teaching at St. Ursula. In 1961, she was elected Superior and held the position for 12 years. She taught at St. Ursula until her retirement in 1988.
"She was a great teacher, very approachable and always had a smile on her face as she walked through the halls," said Sister Ruth Ann Hartmann, who also was one of Sister Ann Marie's students.
Among survivors are nieces, Sister Joan Marie Boehle, O.S.U., and Sister Mary William Luxford, O.S.U.

Gerald Robert "G. R." Adams, 70, of Amelia, Ohio, died Monday at Anderson Mercy Hospital.
He was a horseman who owned and raced thoroughbreds at Turfway Park in Florence, River Downs in Cincinnati and Tampa Bay Downs in Tampa, Fla.
