WEST MANSFIELD -- Alberta R. Foos, age 87, of West Mansfield, died suddenly Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Union County Memorial Hospital of Marysville.
Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home in West Mansfield.
Julius A. Stern
MARION -- Julius A. Stern, 86, Marion, passed away at 12:47 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Marion General Hospital.
Born Sept. 2, 1917, in New York, N.Y., he was the son of the late Siegfried and Katie (Deutsch) Kermich.
On March 18, 1956, in Marion, he married Gertrude M. Hamburg; she survives in Marion.
He was a veteran of World War II and retired from the Air Force as lieutenant colonel after 24 years of service. He was owner/operator of Better Homes Construction Co. and also a real estate broker. He was a member of Temple Israel, VFW Post 7201, Marion Moose Lodge 889, Elks Lodge 32 and former member of Noon Kiwanis Club.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a son, Dr. Larry A. (Valarie) Stern, Wooster; a daughter, Kay Lyn (Jimmy) Feinstein, San Francisco, Calif.; a sister, Irene (Bernard) Sachs, Elberon, N.J.; and two grandchildren, Gabrielle Stern and Shaleah Feinstein.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger Funeral Home. Calling hours will not be observed. Burial is in Marion Cemetery where
military rites will be conducted at the gravesite by the Marion Area United Veterans Council.

Eileen E. Bauer
MARION -- Eileen E. Bauer, 87, passed away at 3:12 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Sunbridge Care Canter.
Born May 15, 1916, in Adams County, she was the daughter of the late James T. and Alice (Plummer) Brown.
On June 20, 1934, in Arnheim, she married Philip A. Bauer; he died Jan. 25, 1998, in Marion.
She was retired as a clerk for Kroger where she worked for 25 years. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Philythian Circle and past member of Retail Clerks Union.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn (Joseph) Gholson, Prospect, Helen B. Alspauch, Baltimore; a sister, Margene Dobeli of Sardina; two grandchildren Terry Blanton and Anne Keller; five great-grandchildren, Brook Keller, Jacquelyn Keller, Chad Blanton, Craig Blanton, and Tabitha Blanton. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Barbara Alspaugh, four brothers and a sister.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Emanuel Lutheran Church. Burial is in Arnheim Cemetery in Arnheim, Ohio. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Boyd Funeral Home.

Debra L. Hartley
MARION -- Debra L. Hartley, 48, 801 Windsor St., passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 4, 2003, at her home.
Born April 10, 1955, in Marion, she was the daughter of Leander and Reva (Howard) Adams; her mother survives in Marion.
On Oct. 1, 1976, in Marion, she married Samuel V. Hartley; he died March 4, 1992, in Marion.
She retired in 1990, as a machine operator with Glenwood Range after 11 years of service.
She is survived by a son, Shane M. (Shannon) Hartley of Marion; a daughter, Betsy (Paul) Owens-Jarvis of Marion; three brothers, Francis A. (Linda S.) Adams of Marion, Fred A. (Brenda) Adams of Martel, Rick L. (Brenda) Adams of Marion; two grandchildren, Darian R. Tyra and Don Tyra Jr.; two stepgrandchildren, Ashleey and Evan Jarvis.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Boyd Funeral Home with the Revs. Grover Caudill and David Aikens officiating. Burial is in Marion Cemetery. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chad Soice, Jason Smith, Mark Smith, Rick, Michael and Anthony Adams, Jason Malone and Christopher Owens.
Betty Jane Leonard
MARION -- Betty Jane Leonard, 76, Marion, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Saturday Oct. 4, 2003, at her home.
Born Oct. 5, 1926, in Oak Hill, she was the daughter of the late Burton and Florence (Reese) McGhee.
On Jan. 9, 1945, in Oak Hill, she married Everett Leonard; he died Sept. 25, 1989, in Marion.
She worked as a stock person for JCPenney's for 12 years and recently was employed as a secretary for Something Good Family Restaurant. She was a member of Maranatha Bible Baptist Church and Calvary Bible Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Emmett (Kathy) Leonard, Urbana; three daughters, Barbara (James) Freeman of Marion, Gwen (Dennis) Gilliland, Marion, Leah (Richard) Parker of Marion; a sister, Nellie Campbell of Columbus; a stepbrother, Berle Lee Wears; a sister-in-law, Cestel McGhee of Napoleon; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 12 stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and close friends, Hilda Gilliam, Frances Martin and Donna Mehok. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
The funeral is 1:30 p.m. today, Oct. 8, 2003, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 287 S. State St., with the Rev. Terry Cudd officiating. Burial is in Marion Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boyd Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arlene A. Leonard
MARION -- Arlene Leonard, age 80, of 255 Richland Road, Marion, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Sunbridge Care & Rehab for Marion.
Private arrangements for her family are being handled by Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
Caleb Michael Elliott
FINDLAY -- Caleb Michael Elliott was stillborn at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay, Friday, Oct. 3, 2003.
Surviving are his parents, Christopher J. and Dawn Rene (Cox) Elliott and a brother, Noah Elliott, all of Arlington.
Also surviving are maternal grandparents, David and Naomi Cox of Marion; paternal grandparents, James and Barbara Elliott of Columbus and maternal great-grandfather, Glen Childers of Marion; paternal great-grandparents, John and Frances Elliott of Rocklin, Calif. and paternal grandmother, Marie Holshouser of Citrus Heights, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at Knollcrest Gardens Chapel, east of Findlay, Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gene Milioni officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the chapel. Colden-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, is in charge of arrangements.
