John Haught, retired district fire chief
Longtime Cincinnati firefighter and officer John R. "Jack" Haught, 72, of Cincinnati, died Saturday at University Hospital.
Mr. Haught was retired from the Cincinnati Fire Division, where he had served for 33 years and rose through the ranks to district fire chief. Mr. Haught also was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Haught leaves his wife, Evelyn K. Haught; sons, Craig Haught, Phil Haught and Dean Haught; daughter, Kimberly Slevin; sister, Estelle Philips; and 10 grandchildren.
Services: 6:30 p.m. today at Elden A. Good Funeral Home, Hyde Park. Visitation: 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials: Shriners Burns Institute.

William T. Blomquist, professor
William T. Blomquist, 72, professor of management emeritus at Miami University, died Saturday at his home in Oxford, Ohio.
Mr. Blomquist was associate dean of Miami's School of Business Administration from 1963 to 1971, and also served as director of the MBA program. He returned to full-time teaching in 1971, and retired in 1991. Mr. Blomquist served as University Marshal, with responsibility for arrangements for commencement exercises and other official ceremonies.
Before joining Miami's faculty in 1953, he was a market analyst with Pure Oil Co., Chicago, and a teaching fellow, faculty lecturer and assistant di
rector for the placement bureau in Indiana. He was a Navy veteran.
His wife, Martha Ann DeKoch Blomquist, died in 1992.
Mr. Blomquist leaves sons, Thomas of Oxford, and James of Florence, Ky.; daughter, Nancy Burhans of Perrysburg; and six grandchildren.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Oxford. Memorials: Blomquist Memorial Fund, Miami University, or Faith Lutheran Church.

Father Clarence L. Diegelman
Rev. Clarence L. Diegelman, 81, of Carthagena, Ohio, died Monday. He was pastor emeritus of Holy Family Church, Frenchtown, Ohio, and taught at the former Purcell High School.
He also served as assistant pastor at St. Agnes Church, Our Mother of Sorrows and St. Francis de Sales in Cincinnati, and St. Peter in Chains.

Frank Cahill, respected businessman
Frank Cahill enjoyed sharing his time, values and business expertise with others, his family recalled.
Mr. Cahill, of Columbia Township, a retired executive vice president with Roadway Express Inc., died Thursday. He worked at Roadway Express for 31 years and retired in 1996.
Since then, he has given lectures on business ethics at Xavier University and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Madisonville.
He leaves his wife, Marcia Cahill; sons Michael Cahill of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Timothy Cahill of St. Charles, Ill.; daughters, Suzanne Cahill of Cincinnati, and Christine Potokar of Cleveland; a sister, Judith Sweeney of Syracuse, N.Y.,; and four grandchildren.

Rev. Charles Brannen, educator
Rev. Charles J. Brannen, 76, of Clarkston, Mich., formerly of Cincinnati, died of heart failure Sunday.
The Jesuit priest graduated from St. Xavier High School and from 1955-60 served as an assistant principal there. He also directed the Milford Retreat House from 1961-65.

Charles Callen, longtime Florence chief
Charles Callen Sr., former police chief of Florence, Ky., died Monday at his home.
Mr. Callen, 56, of Florence, was credited with overseeing the department's growth from four members to more than 50 during his 19 years as chief. He retired in 1995 with numerous health problems. He received a second kidney transplant in January 1994, and had battled skin cancer for several years.
"He was a good chief and brought the department along with the growth with the community," said Mayor Evelyn Kalb.
Chief Callen was a member of the Kentucky Peace Officers Association and the International Chief of Police Association.
He leaves his wife, Carolyn Callen; daughter, Carrie Rae Callen of Florence; sons, Curtis of Florence and Charles Jr. of West College Corner, Ind.; stepson, Robert Riemeyer Jr. of Edgewood, Ky.; brother, Earl W. Callen Jr. of Piner, Ky.; sisters, Joan Dove and Dora Frost, both of Elsmere, Ky.; and five grandchildren.
