Rev. Conan Taylor, biology teacher
Father Conan Taylor O.F.M., a longtime teacher at Roger Bacon High School and a lifelong student of science and nature, died Monday at Franciscan Hospital's Mt. Airy Campus. He was 77.
"He never lost his passion for nature," said Father Joseph Rayes, a fellow Franciscan friar.
Father Taylor translated his interest in plant biology into two books. Much of his field work was done with the help of grants from the National Science Foundation.
Father Taylor was ordained in 1945 and went on to teach science and religion at Roger Bacon until 1959. He was founder-director of Franciscan's Of fice for Senior Friars at St. Francis Seraph Church in Over-the-Rhine from 1987-92, and served as guardian at St. Clement Friary in St. Bernard from 1990-92. Since 1992, Father Taylor had been living in semi-retirement at St. Ann Friary in Groesbeck.
He leaves a sister, Sister M. Rita Clare O.S.F. of Mishawaka, Ind.; and a brother, Eugene "Pat" Taylor of Mt. Washington .

Don Uebel, worked for 27 years at WCPO
Don Uebel, an account executive at WCPO-TV Channel 9 for 27 years, died Monday after a year-long battle with lung cancer. The Crestview Hills, Ky., resident was 54.
Mr. Uebel had worked for WCPO from 1969-96.
He was a religious, unassuming man who enjoyed working behind the scenes. He also was an adamant fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats, said Iris Simpson, general sales manager for WCPO.
"He was a tremendous individual who was certainly not the typical sales person but yet was one of the most effective we had for all those years," Ms. Simpson said. "He was very special."
Mr. Uebel leaves his wife, Tenderly Uebel; children, Gabriel, Courtney and Grant, all of Crestview Hills; sisters, Beatrice Kreyling of Knoxville, Tenn., Nancy Maher of Western Hills, Phyllis Schmitt of Covington and Susan Uebel Mazzaro of Ross, Ky.; and brother, Raymond Joseph Uebel of Centerville, Ohio.

Patricia Roche, librarian and teacher
Patricia A. Campbell Roche, 51, a librarian and special education teacher, died Tuesday at her Delhi Township home.
Mrs. Roche was librarian at C.O. Harrison Grade School in Delhi Township for eight years, where she was known for her arts and crafts. She went on to be librarian at Oak Hills High School in Bridgetown, where she also served as the mascot adviser for the school's wrestling team. She remained there for 12 years.
Mrs. Roche also served as special educator in reading with Delshire School and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, Delhi Township.
She leaves her husband, Dick Roche; son, Matthew Roche of Highland Heights, Ky.; daughter, Amanda Roche of Richmond, Ky.; parents, Elmer and Maggy Campbell of Kentucky; sisters, Phyllis of Cumberland, Ky., and Penny of Jackson, Ky.; and brother, Phillip of Cleveland.

FORD COLLINS was devoted to the players on the Erlanger, Ky. Lions Knothole Baseball team.
"He was such a giving person," said his son, Edward Collins of Burlington, Ky. "He took care of his team. He made sure they were treated special. Once, he was on a business trip in California and he had a team playing in the championship. He flew home for the game and turned around and flew back to California the next night. He just really, really enjoyed coaching. He felt he was making a difference."
Mr. Collins, 72, of Erlanger, died Wednesday. He was a knothole coach for nearly 20 years.
Mr. Collins was a retired vice president with Central Trust Bank, Cincinnati, and a mortgage banker with Cincinnati Mortgage Co.
Other survivors include his wife, Margaret Goodman Collins; a daughter, Denise Sterbling of Erlanger; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Christian Center. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger.

EUGENE C. BARSTOW, 70, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Cincinnati, died Tuesday. He was a Cincinnati attorney and a former Chief of the Permit Division of the Ohio State Liquor Depart ment.
