Robert Bunger, engineer and merchant
Robert "Skip" Bunger, engineer, businessman and former fire chief of Patriot, Ind., died Saturday. Mr. Bunger was 78.
He was a retired electrical engineer Indiana-Michigan Electric Co., and owner of Bunger and Son John Deere Implement Dealer, Harvest Home Hardware and Bunger Trucking Services. The Navy veteran of World War II also was a former Patriot fire chief.
He leaves his wife, Edith; daughter, Theresa Huff; stepsons Gilbert Rider and Van Lama Thacker; stepdaughter, Joyce Carter; and a grandson.

Businessman Robert Miller shared love for cartooning
Whether it was with his cartoon caricatures, his gift of gab or as a volunteer helping others, Indian Hill's Robert Andrew Miller found a way to make people smile.
"He was a selfless person," said his wife, Sheila Miller. "Everything he did brought joy to others."
Mr. Miller, the retired president of J.H. Day Co., died Sunday. He was 74.
The New Jersey native grew up with a love for drawing. His cartoons landed Mr. Miller in the pages of the military newspaper Stars and Stripes, where he was a contributing cartoonist while serving with the 390th Infantry in the Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Miller continued to draw throughout his lifetime, rendering posters, cartoons and caricatures for family and friends.
He had other ways to make you laugh.
"He could really tell a story," Mrs. Miller said. "He would always leave you laughing."
He also gave of his time to his community and Dartmouth College - his alma mater.
Mr. Miller served on various boards, including Camp Stepping Stone, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and United Appeal.
He also leaves his son, Andrew; a sister, Elaine Crawford of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.

Philip D. Dreifus, 101, violinist
Philip David Dreifus, who began playing violin for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra at age 16, died Sunday. He was 101 and the oldest living former member of the orchestra.
Mr. Dreifus, who played under a number of renowned conductors - among them Leonard Bernstein, Arturo Toscanini, Leopold Stokowski, Eugene Ysaye and Antal Dorati - performed with the orchestra for 14 years during the 1940s and early 1950s.
The College Conservatory of Music graduate auditioned for the CSO at age 16 and was hired as a violinist.
"He was just a boy when he played under (Ernst) Kurnwald," said Carolyn Watts, a long time friend of Mr. Dreifus, who left the orchestra temporarily during World War I to serve in the ambulance corps in France.
Mr. Dreifus retired from the orchestra in 1953 to become an agent with Crown Life Insurance Co. in Carew Tower. He worked there for 30 years and retired at age 90.
His wife, Miriam, died in 1980. He leaves a daughter, Louise Wartik, of State College, Pa., and two grandchildren.

Ralph Young, home contractor
Ralph Young, of Anderson Township, a contractor who built many homes and apartments in Clermont County, died Monday. He was 71.
After his retirement, Mr. Young also helped build a multipurpose center at the Delhi Christian Center, where he was a member. He was an avid boater, a youth baseball coach and a former member of the volunteer fire department in Amelia, Ohio.
He leaves his wife, Margie Ennis Young; daughter, Donna Cofer of Anderson; sons, Ron Young of Anderson and Richard Young of Eastgate; sisters, Christine Smith and Violet Anderson; a brother, James Young; and seven grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, Amelia. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Sister Catherine Angela Smith
Sister of Charity and career teacher Catherine Angela Smith, 89, died Sunday.
Sister Catherine Angela, a member of the order for more than 70 years, taught in Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois. Some of the schools where she taught were St. Elizabeth in Norwood, Resurrection in Price Hill, St. Mary in Hyde Park, the old Marian High School and Seton High School.
Sister Catherine Angela experienced a great deal of illness in her life, including a brain tumor that was removed in 1949.
She leaves two sisters - Sister Mary Margaret Smith and Sister Marie Agnes Smith - who also are members of the order.
Mass was today at the Sisters of Charity Motherhouse in Delhi Township.
