Rev. Carl Taylor, church pastor
The Rev. Carl E. Taylor served as pastor for Wesleyan Christian Church in Covington for 14 years.
Rev. Taylor, 88, died at 2 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.
"He was still pastoring" at age 88, said his wife of 19 years, Ann Henry Taylor.
"He was a very kind person. He was very loving and had lots of friends."
Rev. Taylor, a retired truck driver, grew up in Ohio.
Rev. Taylor and his wife met in church.
Other survivors include a son, Earl Cope of Burlington, Ky.; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Sat urday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence, Ky.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Betty Wineland, leader in AMVETS
Elizabeth "Betty" Kaiser Wineland, former national president of the AMVETS Auxiliary, died Friday in Florida.
In her role with AMVETS, Mrs. Wineland, of Green Township, traveled the world for one year. "She had a true love for her country and its veterans," said a family member.
Mrs. Wineland also served as director of volunteer services at University Hospital from 1963-1988, and belonged to the Green Township Seniors.
In 1960, she was a contestant on television's "The Price is Right."
Mrs. Wineland leaves children Judith A. Carr of Miami Heights and Thomas F. Wineland Jr. of Bridgetown; sister, Maryanne McCall of Inverness, Fla; longtime friend Gus Bareswilt; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her husband, Thomas F. Wineland, Sr., preceded her in death.

Gregory Steven Mullins, 50, an avid guitarist who formerly lived in Middletown, Ohio, died Thursday in Morehead, Ky.
Mr. Mullins was a maintenance supervisor for Morehead State University, where he graduated. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, and had lived in Morehead for several years.

Woodrow W. Brown, of Potter Shoe
Woodrow W. Brown was duty-oriented, whether it involved his 30-year career with Potter Shoe Co., his
military service or his family.
Mr. Brown, 80, died Monday at Deaconess Hospital.
He worked for the former Potter Shoe Co., retiring as president. Mr. Brown, of Ft. Mitchell, Ky., enjoyed golf and bridge, and was a member of Ft. Mitchell Country Club and the Covington Optimist Club.
He also was a member of Heritage League of Northern Kentucky and was an Army veteran of World War II.
"He was truly an optimist," said his son, Jack G. Brown, of Terrace Park. "That was part of his nature. He could see the positive side of things."
His first wife, Evelyn Brown, died in 1974. His second wife, Rebecca Best Brown, died in 1990.
He also leaves a stepdaughter, Jane Domaschko of Edgewood, Ky.; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger, Ky. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
