PAULDING - Robert W. Habern
Died: Wednesday, October 23, 2002
Age: 75
PAULDING - Robert W. Habern, 75, currently a resident of Ingram, Ky., died on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002 at the Pineville Community Hospital, Pineville, Ky.
He was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Rose Hill, Va., the son of William R. Habern and Victoria Eldridge Taylor. On October 26, 1946, he married Lilly W. Valentine, who survives.
Mr. Habern was a heavy equipment operator for the construction business. He served in the United States Marines during World War II.
Survivors include:
Daughters - Carol (Gary) Sulfridge of Latty; Sandra (Eddie) Crisp of Ingram, Ky.; Virginia (Ed) McKnight of Del Rio, Texas ; Victoria (Robert) Weisgerber of Grover Hill and Susan (Kevin) Nicholas of Lebanon
Sons - Douglas (Erica) Habern of Paulding and Robert G. (Kathy) Habern of Latty.
Sisters - Margie Howard, Betty Tippet, Rachel Kidd, Carolyn Baker, Doris Snellings and Brenda Estep
Brothers - Samuel Habern, Cecil Habern and Willard Taylor
Eighteen grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild, Shawn Habern; and two brothers, Harry Habern and Eugene Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 at Hedges Cemetery, Paulding. The minister is pending. Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding was in charge of arrangements.
DELPHOS - Dossie Ilene Hale
Died: Wednesday, October 23, 2002
Age: 79
DELPHOS -- Dossie Ilene Hale, 79, of Delphos died at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born Aug. 25, 1923 in Attica, Mich., the daughter of Lewis Edward Butterfield and Sarah Catherine (Diltz) Butterfield. She married Shirley J. "Duke" Hale, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hale was a homemaker.
Survivors included:
Son -- Daniel Lee (Lynn) Hale of Lima
Daughters -- Terry Lee (Randy) Peters of Charlotte, N.C.; Janet Rowbotham, Sharon Hardin, Sue (Steve) Dancer and Sandra (Steve) Briggs all of Delphos.
Fourteen grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Harter and Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. today, and one hour prior to service Saturday, Oct. 26, at the funeral home.
PAYNE - Catherine S Winans
Died: Saturday, December 28, 2002
Age: 99
PAYNE - Catherine S. Winans, 99, of Payne, died at 11:25 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Dallas Lamb Foundation Home, Payne.
She was born Jan. 27, 1903, in Paulding, the daughter of the late Samuel and Gertrude (Shugars) Price. On Jan. 20, 1920, she married Adam Winans, who preceded her in death in 1987.
Mrs. Winans retired from General Electric, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Survivors include:
Son - Richard Winans of Columbus
Daughters - Betty Van Ho of Tiffen and JoAnn Phipps of Payne
Eleven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by a son, Allen Winans, who preceded her in death in 1987.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Payne, the Revs. Joseph Allen and Amy Haines officiating. Burial will be in Lehman Cemetery, Payne.
Calling hours are after 4 p.m. Thursday at Slade Funeral Home, Payne, where an Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Judith Anne Fodrie
Died: Friday, December 27, 2002
Age: 63
Judith Anne Fodrie, 63, of Van Wert died at 10:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born Aug. 23, 1939, in Ottoville, the daughter of Juanita (Wall) Barber of Van Wert and the late Harry J. Barber. On June 29, 1971, she married Richard M. Fodrie, who survives.
Mrs. Fodrie had been employed at Borden's Cheese, Van Wert.
Other survivors include one son, Paul G. Bigelow of Louisiana; two daughters, Dawn M. Johnson of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Diana Renee (Roy) Eyanson of Van Wert; two brothers, Karl (Barb) Bendele of Denver, Colo., and Charles Barber of Clearwater, Fla.; three sisters, Diana (Tom) Powlaski of Akron, Marlene (Bob) Ledoux of Denver, Colo., and Karen (Neil) Hammons, and three grandchildren, Delaney Eyanson, Rory J. Bigelow and Nicholas Johnson
She was preceded in death by one brother, Harry C. Barber, and a sister, Danielle Zinn.
There will be no visitation or services. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Angel Foundation, c/o Community Health Professionals.
Arrangements were handled by Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert.
PAULDING - Leo W. "Tub" McGrath

Age: 88
PAULDING - Leo W. "Tub" McGrath, 88, died at 6:35 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at Dallas Lamb Foundation Home, Payne.
He was born Feb. 6, 1914, in Paulding County, the son of the late Thomas J. and Rose (Phlipot) McGrath. On April 30, 1935, he married Hilda K. Bercaw, who survives in Paulding.
Mr. McGrath retired as a farmer in 1976.

Sisters - Christine (Roman) Lake of Cecil and Loretta Hoeffel of Mansfield
Ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry and Charles McGrath, and an infant.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulding, the Rev. G. Allan Fillman officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, Cecil.
Calling hours are 3:30-9 p.m. today at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m.
PAULDING - Edwin H. Kimmel Sr
Died: Friday, December 27, 2002
Age: 81
PAULDING - Edwin H. Kimmel Sr., 81, died at 4 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 2, 1921, in Payne, the son of the late Christ and Rosa (Barker) Kimmel. In 1948, he married Joyce Stuttler, who survives.
Mr. Kimmel was a union carpenter for Union 1581. He served with the 317th Infantry as Pfc. from July 1942-December 1945.

Daughters - Patricia M. (Gary) Adams of Defiance and Vicky E. (Kenneth) Roth of Allentown, Pa.
Six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Kimmel, and a niece.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. Burial will be in Wiltsie Cemetery, Payne, with VFW
military graveside services.
Calling hours are 1:30-6 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.
DELPHOS - David M Wannemacher

Age: 55
DELPHOS - David M. Wannemacher, 55, died at 12:21 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born Feb. 6, 1947, in Delphos, the son of the late Ambrose and Coletta (Gremling) Wannemacher. On Feb. 6, 1970, he married Barbara Will, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Wannemacher was a parts purchasing agent at Double A Trailers for the past 25 years.

Sisters - Ellen (Jeff "Buzz") Ditto of Landeck, Maggie Wannemacher and Beth (Joe) Wallenhorst, both of Delphos, and Karen Shumaker of Cridersville
Brothers - Dennis (Pat) Wannemacher of Troy, Mark (Mary) Wannemacher and Greg (Donna) Wannemacher, both of Lima, and Rick Wannemacher and Chuck (Tina) Wannemacher, both of Delphos
Three grandchildren, Austin, Jared and Felicia Wannemacher, also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Wannemacher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake service is set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
