DELPHOS - John J. Miller, 83, died at 4:50 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 20, 1919, in Landeck, the son of the late Adam and Loretta (Etzkorn) Miller. On Sept. 14, 1946, he married Della Leist, who preceded him in death on Sept. 14, 2001.
Mr. Miller, a World War II veteran, worked at Ford Motor Co. as a machinist and was also a farmer.
Survivors include:
Son - Tim (Kathleen) Miller of Delphos
Daughters - Jeanne R. (William) Gallaway of Kyle, Texas, and Lori A. (Mark) Bridges of Celina
Sisters - Ann (Gene) Klausing and Mary Newmeyer, both of Delphos, and Luella Beard of Cleveland
Brothers - Alphonse Miller of Delphos and Paul Miller of Chandler, Ariz.
Five grandchildren, Christy and Julie Miller of Delphos, Tami Gallaway of Tempe, Ariz., Troy Gallaway of Kyle, and Samantha Bridges of Celina, and one great-grandchild, Corran Gallaway of Kyle, also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Miller, and a son, John L. Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos, the Rev. Vincent Hoying officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Landeck, with
military grave rites conducted by the Delphos Veteran Council.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Harter & Son Funeral Home where a parish wake is set for 7:30 p.m. today.
DELPHOS - Daisy Mae Stepleton

Age: 83
DELPHOS - Daisy Mae Stepleton, 83, died at 2:21 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born April 14, 1919, in Dupont, the daughter of the late Samuel Walter and Eda Mae Etter. She married Anthony Joseph Stepleton, who preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1983.
Mrs. Stepleton worked at the cigar factory in Delphos and Lima.
Survivors include:
Son - Michael L. (Carol) Stepleton of Livonia, Mich.
Daughter - Beverly K. Hipsher of Lima
Sister-in-law - Anna Mary Etter of Dupont
Fourteen grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Zora Frankie Wells Etter; one son, Anthony E. Stepleton; three infant children; four brothers; 2 sisters, and a son-in-law, Vernon Hipsher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A memorial graveside service will be held at St. John's Cemetery at a later date.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today
SPENCERVILLE - Joe M. Wright
Died: Saturday, February 8, 2003
Age: 87
SPENCERVILLE - Joe M. Wright, 87, of rural Spencerville died at 1:27 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville.
He was born May 30, 1915, in Van Wert County, the son of the late George B. and Stella (McClure) Wright. On April 17, 1941, he married Mabel Stelzer, who survives.
Mr. Wright was a retired farmer. He served in the Ohio National Guard and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Sister-in-law - Myrtle Strahm of Orlando, Fla.
Three granddaughters, Julie A. Iiams of Findlay, Kimberly J. (Steve) McGinnis of Columbus and Lisa R. (Kevin) Finn of Lima; four great-grandchildren, Kelci Fleming and Tristan Finn, both of Lima, and Jacob McGinnis and Kayla McGinnis, both of Columbus; six nieces, and three nephews, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Michael Swanton officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery, with
military graveside rites conducted by the VFW and American Legion Post 191.
RICHMOND, Ind. - Arthur L. "Tiny" Clouse
Died: Friday, February 7, 2003
Age: 81
RICHMOND, Ind. - Arthur L. "Tiny" Clouse, 81, of Richmond died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Reid Hospital.
He was born May 21, 1921, in Ohio City, the son of the late Ralph and Daisy Clouse. On March 12, 1949, he married Rose Wilmot, who survives.
Mr. Clouse worked at AVCO for 30 years and as a City of Richmond Animal Control Officer for 12 years.
Other survivors include nieces and nephews, including Judy Tillery of Richmond.
He was preceded in death by one stepbrother and a stepsister.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond, the Rev. Lynn Seagraves officiating. A graveside service and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.
Calling hours are 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
PAULDING - Scott D. Evans
Died: Friday, February 7, 2003
Age: 32
PAULDING - Scott D. Evans, 32, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, shortly after admission to Paulding County Hospital.
He was born April 29, 1970, in Lima, the son of Claudine Collins and Dennis J. Evans. His mother and stepfather, Claudine and Robert Jones survive in Paulding and his father and stepmother, Dennis J. and Naomi Evans, survive in Arizona.
Mr. Evans was employed by Busted Knuckles Auto Body Shop of Paulding. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during the Persian Gulf War as a First Class Petty Officer on the U.S.S. Nimitz.

He was preceded in death by both his grandfathers, Robert Collins and James Evans.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, the Rev. Tim Hauenstein officiating.
military memorial rites will be conducted by the Paulding VFW Post 587. Burial will be at a later date.
Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
NEW BREMEN - Queen Isabelle Koons

NEW BREMEN - Queen Isabelle Koons, 99, formerly of New Bremen, died at 6:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Fairhaven Shelby County Home, Sidney.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Frank Casey officiating. Burial will follow in Swamp College Cemetery, west of Celina.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Sylvia G. Purkeypile
Died: Friday, February 7, 2003
Age: 78
Sylvia G. Purkeypile, 78, of Van Wert died at 6 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.
She was born April 6, 1924, in West Virginia, the daughter of the late Andrew and Lucille (Williams) Hammick. She married Richard L. Purkeypile, who preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. Purkeypile retired from Crescent Laundry & Dry Cleaning, Van Wert, in 1981. She loved gardening.
Survivors include three sons, Richard A. Purkeypile and Ron Purkeypile, both of Van Wert, and Gary L. Purkeypile of Columbus; two daughters, Montie (Terry) Hasch of Van Wert and Deb (Michael) Roehm of rural Ohio City; one sister, Shirley Mayhew of Parkersburg, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Don Purkeypile, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Lt. Pat Ward of The Salvation Army officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are two hours prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is The Salvation Army.
PAULDING - Sidney B. Walker
Died: Friday, February 7, 2003
Age: 67
PAULDING - Sidney B. Walker, 67, died at 6:24 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, shortly after admission to Paulding County Hospital.
He was born Sept. 24, 1935, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, the son of the late Harlow H. and Catherine L. (Dawley) Walker. On Oct. 7, 1956, he married Jacqueline B. Burgess, who survives in Paulding.
Mr. Walker retired in 1994 as the district director of ASCS for Northwest Ohio. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army with the rank of major who served during the Vietnam Conflict where he received the Purple Heart and the Vietnamese Civic Actions Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
Other survivors include:
Daughter - Tracy (Ron) Gunderman of Antwerp
Sons - Christopher Walker and Corey (Ann) Walker of Paulding and Chad (Laura) Walker of Florence, Ky.
Brothers - Terry Walker of Seattle, Wash., and Hal Walker of Gambier
Nine grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church of Paulding, the Rev. Susan Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Paulding Memorial Cemetery, Paulding, where the Paulding VFW 587 will conduct
military graveside services.
There will be no visitation.
