GROVER HILL - Bess N. Scarbrough
Died: Monday, February 24, 2003
Age: 77
GROVER HILL - Bess N. Scarbrough, 77, of rural Grover Hill, died at 11:59 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, at her residence in Latty Township, Paulding County.
She was born March 23, 1925, in Venedocia, the daughter of the late Chancy Orman and Grace Eleanor (Davis) Stetler. On Oct. 3, 1948, she married John I. Scarbrough, who survives.
Mrs. Scarbrough, a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Grover Hill, retired as a cook in the Grover Hill and Wayne Trace Schools after 25 years of service.
Other survivors include one son, Ed (Jackie) Scarbrough of Paulding; a daughter, Brenda (Tom) Ferrell of Grover Hill; seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Bryan Ferrell; two brothers, Leroy Stetler and Walter Orman Stetler, and a sister, Marie Brehm.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Zion United Methodist Church, Grover Hill, the Revs. Paul W. Miller and Kevin Patton officiating. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery, Grover Hill.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Preferred memorials are Paulding Visiting Nurses and Hospice or Zion United Methodist Church.
CONVOY - Nicholas J Mollenkopf
Died: Sunday, November 10, 2002
Age: 18
CONVOY - Nicholas J. Mollenkopf, 18, of Convoy died late Sunday afternoon, Nov. 10, 2002, on Lincoln Highway.
He was born Dec. 15, 1983, in Van Wert, the son of Richard L. "Rick" and Cynthia L. (Breece) Mollenkopf.
Mr. Mollenkopf worked at Quick Change in Van Wert. He was also a student at the University of Northwestern Ohio, Lima.
A 2002 graduate of Crestview High School and Vantage Career Center in Van Wert, he was a member of Convoy United Methodist Church, Convoy.
Other survivors include his paternal grandparents, Grace and Bert Edwards of Grover Hill; maternal grandmother, Eleanor Breece of Van Wert; several aunts, uncles and cousins; one brother, J.R. (Becki) Mollenkopf of Convoy; a sister, Michelle Mollenkopf of Convoy.
He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Doyt Breece and Stanley Mollenkopf.
Arrangements are pending at Gearhart, Mack and Jurczyk Funeral Home, Convoy, because of family who are currently overseas.
CONVOY - Nicholas J Mollenkopf

CONVOY - Nicholas J. Mollenkopf, 18, of Convoy died late Sunday afternoon, Nov. 10, 2002, on Lincoln Highway, Van Wert.

Coramae Peters
Died: Sunday, November 10, 2002
Age: 76
Coramae Peters, 76, of Van Wert died at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, following an extended illness.
She was born June 21, 1926, in Fostoria.
Mrs. Peters was a registered nurse and worked for many years in the intensive care unit of Van Wert County Hospital. She later worked in the research library of The Way International Biblical Research Center in New Knoxville.
Survivors include:
Daughters - Jill (Wayne) Kight of Conley Springs, N.C., and Mary Kay (Robert) Barnes of Van Wert
Sons - William (Kyong) Peters of Kingston, N.H., and David Peters of Houston, Texas
Seven grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Frank Staley officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
DELPHOS - Ella Marie Jacomet
Died: Friday, November 8, 2002
Age: 89
DELPHOS - Ella Marie Jacomet, 89, died at 2:25 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Medical College Hospital, Toledo.
She was born June 14, 1913, in Allen County, the daughter of the late Oscar Butler and Nora Miller Butler.
In 1932, she married Donald G. Jacomet, who preceded her in death in February 1971.
Mrs. Jacomet was a homemaker.
Survivors include:
Son - Ronald Jacomet of Delphos
Stepdaughter - Patricia of St. Marys
Sister - Eileen (Walter) Byrne of Delphos
Seven grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Jacomet Jr.; four brothers, Gary, Elbert, Lloyd and Paul Butler, and two sisters, Goldie Nottingham and Mildred Clinger.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Ron Lumm officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and an hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
Carl E. Nihiser
Died: Friday, November 8, 2002
Age: 76
Carl E. Nihiser, 76, of Van Wert died at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Jan. 28, 1926, in Van Wert, the son of the late Daniel P. and Ruby E. (Harvey) Nihiser. On May 20, 1951, in Van Wert, he married Phyllis L. Schaadt, who survives.
Mr. Nihiser had formerly worked in sales for the Toledo Turf Co. and then was a co-owner of the Oaks Golf Club near Lima for 15 years. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a life member and past exalted ruler of the Van Wert Elks Lodge 1197, a member of the Golf Course Superintendents of America and a member of the Wapakoneta Eagles Aerie.
Other survivors include one son, Danny K. Nihiser of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffrey Lynn Nihiser, one brother, Gradon "Jake" Nihiser and a half brother, Arthur Nihiser.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Private family burial will be held at Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point, with
military graveside services conducted by Van Wert American Legion and VFW posts.
Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are Van Wert EMS or donor's choice.
GROVER HILL - Owen J Tumblin
Died: Friday, November 8, 2002
Age: 71
GROVER HILL - Owen J. Tumblin, 71, of Grover Hill died at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at his residence.
He was born March 31, 1931, in Paulding County, the son of the late Jesse and Golda (Stewart) Tumblin. His first wife, Bonnie Harter Tumblin, preceded him in death. On July 30, 1960, he married Evelyn Hill, who survives.
Mr. Tumblin worked at B.F. Goodrich, Woodburn, Ind., for 32 years and was also a farmer. A member of Middle Creek United Methodist Church, Grover Hill, he served as president of the Black Swamp CB Club in Grover Hill for many years.
Other survivors include a son, Roger Tumblin of Oakwood; four daughters, Terry (Keith) Geiger of Ottoville, Karen Sanderson of Fort Wayne, Ind., Deborah Lehman of Van Wert and Robin Tumblin of Grover Hill; one brother, Irvin (Anna Marie) Tumblin of North Creek; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Gregory and Dewayne Tumblin; a brother, Justis Tumblin; one sister, Mary Lou Tumblin, and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Middle Creek United Methodist Church, Grover Hill, the Rev. Bill Sherry officiating, assisted by the Rev. Terry Porter. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery, Grover Hill.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Preferred memorials are church building fund or Paulding Area Hospice.
Robert E Wyatt
Died: Friday, November 8, 2002
Age: 67
Robert E. Wyatt, 67, formerly of Shreveport, La., died at 4:28 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Feb. 27, 1935, in Grover Hill, the son of the late William Nathan Sr. and Helen Pearl (Bennett) Wyatt.
Mr. Wyatt retired in 1975 as a major in the U.S. Air Force where he had served as an instructor of electronics and radar and as a navigator.
He had also been an engineer at Cast Metals, Shreveport, as well as a biomedical technician at Louisiana State University Medical School, Shreveport.
A 1953 graduate of Grover Hill High School where he was the class valedictorian, he had attended Ohio State University and was appointed as a page for the Ohio State Senate.
He was a member of the Mason Lodge and Knights Templar in Shreveport and a member of the American Legion and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7685.
Survivors include two sons, Charles "Chad" (Julia) Wyatt and Robert (Sandra) Wyatt Jr., both of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Anne (Ric) Trimble of New Haven, Ind., and Debra (Tony) Welly of Hicksville; one brother, Carl E. Wyatt of Payne; two sisters, Frances (Leland) Hobeck of Fort Wayne and Carol (Roger) Ricketts of Rockford, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, William N. Wyatt Jr., Rufus Kent Wyatt and D. Rex Wyatt.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, the Rev. Raymond E. Feeck of Calvary Evangelical Church officiating.
Calling hours are 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
