CAIRO - Lewis E. Evers, 85, died at 6:44 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2003, at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima.
He was born June 5, 1917, in Leipsic, the son of the late Edward and Chloe S. ( White ) Evers. On April 10, 1965, he married Emogene V. Edwards, who survives.
Mr. Evers retired in 1980 from Buckeye Sugars, Ottawa, where he had operated the boiler. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II.

Seven grandchildren, Allison (Brett) Condon, Todd (Kim) Parlette, Melissa (Todd) Parker, Jennifer (Trent) Hammer, Isaac Newland, Edward Bright and Diamond Bright, and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, George Evers, and one sister, Elizabeth Evers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, the Rev. Rich Rakay officiating. Burial will be held at Cairo East Side Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
PAULDING - Catherine Elizabeth (Bates Elizabeth (Bates) Killion
Died: Sunday, March 9, 2003
Age: 65
PAULDING - Catherine Elizabeth (Bates) Killion, 65, died at 1:38 a.m. Sunday, March 9, 2003, at Dallas Lamb Foundation Home, Payne, after a battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 4, 1937, in Isabella, Tenn., the daughter of the late Claude and Florence Bates. On June 15, 1955, she married Carl Vernon Killion, who survives.
Mrs. Killion was the owner and operator of both Catherine's Village Shoppes, Paulding, and Maid to Order, a janitorial and maintenance business. She had worked for Paulding County Hospital, Paulding Progress and National Memorial Stone Company in Defiance.

Sons -- Michael (Machelle) Killion and Douglas (Tere) Killion, both of Plano, Texas, and David (Lisa) Killion of Wake Forest, N.C.
Brothers -- Calvin (Marilyn) Bates of Mooresburg, Tenn., Edwin Bates of Lake Worth, Fla., and Bob Bates of Lakes Wales, Fla.
Sisters -- Polly Eller of Fort Myers, Fla., Patsy Hatmaker of Baneberry, Tenn., Reba White of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Jeanie Farrow of Jefferson City, Tenn.
Her grandchildren, Rachel, Chanc, Seth, Andrew, Caleb, Samuel, Abigail and Sarah Grace, Brandon and Crystal, and three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kaleb and Kylee, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, the Rev. Jack Berry officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Paulding.
Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. to time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ann E. Rohrs
Died: Sunday, March 9, 2003
Age: 65
SHERWOOD -- Ann E. Rohrs, 65, of Sherwood died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at Community Hospitals of Williams County, Bryan.
She was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the daughter of the late James Gettys and Phyliss (Goble) Baxter. On July 31, 1960, she married Melvin Rohrs.
Mrs. Rohrs worked for Moats Ford in Sherwood for 42 years.
Survivors include:
Daughter -- Susan (Michael) Kozumplik of Sherwood
Sons -- Steve (Jennifer) Rohrs and Scott Rohrs, both of Sherwood
Stepmother -- Hazel Baxter of Defiance
Brothers -- Charles (Glema) Baxter of Paulding and Rex (Cindy) Baxter of Sherwood
Two grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sherwood United Methodist Church, the Rev. Rick Barnett of Ney United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5-9 p.m. today at Rice Burr Funeral Home, Sherwood, and one hour prior to service Thursday at the church.
DECATUR, Ind. - Lowell E. Shaffer
Died: Tuesday, August 27, 2002
Age: 71
DECATUR, Ind. -- Lowell E. Shaffer, 71, of Decatur, died at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Adams County Memorial Hospital, Decatur.
He was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Mercer County, the son of the late Hoyt D. and Edith (Whittenbarger) Shaffer. On Sept. 6, 1952, he married Shirley J. Lichtle, who survives in Decatur.
Mr. Shaffer was employed with Arnold Lumber Co., Decatur. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Sisters -- Dorothy (William) Christian of Celina and Janet (James) O'Neill of Wetzel
Ten grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Decatur, Ind., the Rev. Philip DeVolder officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur, with
military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 43.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, with rosary services set for 4 p.m. Thursday and a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Edna M. Phillips
Died: Tuesday, August 27, 2002
Age: 88
Edna M. Phillips, 88, of Van Wert died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born July 21, 1914, in Convoy, the daughter of the late Joseph Richard and Carrie (Pyle) Horine. On Jan. 16, 1934, she married James William Phillips, who preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1993.
Mrs. Phillips, a homemaker, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert and Van Wert Woman's Club.
Survivors include three sisters, Miss Ruth Horine, Martha Burnett and Mary (Wayne) Compton, all of Van Wert, and a sister-in-law, Rose Ann Horine of Van Wert.
She was preceded in death by a brother, David Horine.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, the Revs. James Dunaway and Paul W. Miller of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Albert McClelland

Age: 87
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Albert McClelland, 87, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at his residence in Fort Wayne.
He was born in Ohio City. He married Margaret Jean McClelland, who survives in Fort Wayne.
Mr. McClelland was a supervisor with Westinghouse Electric for 40 years, retiring in 1974. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge in Lima and Simpson United Methodist Church.
Other survivors include one stepdaughter, Anita Isch of Fort Wayne; one stepson, John Flager of Indian Hills, Colo.; one sister, Mildred Bequette of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Burris, a daughter, Susan Alexander, and a sister, Doris Cochran.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling hours are 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

Alice (Barrington) Laman
Died: Friday, March 7, 2003
Age: 82
TROY, Mich. - Alice (Barrington) Laman, 82, died Friday, March 7, 2003, in Troy.
On Aug. 6, 1944, she married Franklin H. Laman, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Laman was a homemaker.
Survivors include:
Son -- John (Nola) Laman of Troy
Daughter -- Jan Laman Hodges of Fort Collins, Colo.
Two grandsons, Marcus Laman and Michael Laman, both of Troy, and many nieces and nephews, also survive.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Dick Barrington, and four sisters, Gertrude Minaugh, Mary Lee, Helen Staup and Rose Black.
A brief memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Boulevard Hills, South Boulevard, Rochester, Mich.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Lima. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos.
