Francis Dale Kadesch

PAULDING - Francis Dale Kadesch, 82, died at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Dallas Lamb Foundation Home, Payne.
He was born June 11, 1920, in Paulding County, the son of the late Frank and Goldie (Hoover) Kadesch. On June 11, 1942, he married Aletha Dangler, who survives.
Mr. Kadesch was employed at Johns-Manville, Defiance, for 20 years, retiring in 1978.

Sons - Gary (Linda) Kadesch of Defiance and Ronnie (Vicki) Kadesch of Paulding
Six grandchildren, Sharolee Huet, Brian Kepler, Tisha Sandys, Steven, Kody and Kassi Kadesch, two great-granddaughters, Paige and Isabel Sandys, and a great-grandson, Nathan Huet, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. (EDT) Saturday at Paulding First Christian Church, the Revs. Jack Berry and Susan Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Cooper Cemetery, Paulding.
Calling hours are noon (EDT) until service time Saturday at the church.
Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, is in charge of arrangements.
Susan Vivian Martin

Age: 60
Susan Vivian Martin, 60, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, in her home.
She was born June 21, 1942, in Lima, the daughter of the late David and Wilma (Rowe) McGee.
Ms. Martin was previously employed by Teleflex of Van Wert, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include:
Sons - Lee (Paula) Martin and Jai Martin, both of Lima
Daughters - Stacey (Lynn) Owens of Cleveland and Ida (Danny) Howard of Las Flores, Calif.
Brother - Donald Tim McGee of Cleveland
Sister - Jennifer (Juan) Rodriguez of Paulding
Seven grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. (EDT) Monday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, the Rev. Bill Watson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Grover Hill.
Calling hours are 2-6 (EDT) Sunday at the funeral home.
Albert Otis Craig
Died: Tuesday, May 13, 2003
Age: 79
Services were held Thursday in Utah for Albert Otis Craig, 79, a former resident of Van Wert, who passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2003, in West Valley City, Utah.
Mr. Craig, sometimes known as Abe or Albert, was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Van Wert, the third son of Joseph Sr. and Cecil (Risher) Craig.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, his son, David Maiorano, and a sister, Juanita Druckemiller. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter, Joseph Jr. and Ray Eugene Craig, and a sister, Betty Walden.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Utah's Heritage Hospice, 25 S. Main St. No. 210, Centerville, UT 84014-1840.
Ruth Irene Dershem
Died: Tuesday, May 13, 2003
Age: 92
SPENCERVILLE - Ruth Irene Dershem, 92, of Spencerville, died at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville.
She was born May 9, 1911, in the Fort Amanda area, the daughter of the late Archelaus and Irana May Baker Martin. On Nov. 21, 1931, she married Byron H. Dershem, who preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1960.
Mrs. Dershem had worked for Lima Telephone Co. as an operator/supervisor for the Elida, Gomer and Bluffton areas, then the S.S. Kressge Co., Shepherd Real Estate, Penney's and the Duff Truck Line, all in Lima.
Survivors include:
Daughter - Alice M. Dershem of Lima
Sons - Thomas L. (Kay) Dershem of Trussville, Ala., and Robert L. (Betty) Dershem of Lima
Daughters-in-law - Jeanine Dershem of Pensacola, Fla., Betty Dershem of Newark and Helen Dershem of Worthington
Sisters - Eunice Shock of Lima, Cleona (Robert) Layton of Cridersville and Mary May "Dolly" (James) Carmean of St. Marys
Brother - Norman (Marvalee) Martin of St. Marys
Twenty-one grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild also survive.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Carroll A Dershem, Byron E. Dershem and James M. Dershem; a daughter, Mary Yazel; three brothers, John, Peter and Carl Martin, and a sister, Kathryn McPheron.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Tim Yazel officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Fort Amanda Cemetery.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
DELPHOS - Martha Planer
Died: Saturday, October 5, 2002
Age: 87
DELPHOS - Martha Planer, 87, of Delphos died at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 15, 1914, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Max William and Amelia Cathryn Bertha "Molly" (Rauschart) Planer.
Miss Planer retired as a retail sales clerk from G.C. Murphy Co. of Delphos after 30 years of service.
Survivors include:
Sister - Dorothy Arnold of Delphos
Two nephews, Dale Arnold and Robert Freund, and two nieces, Sheba Haner and Kathleen Freund, also survive.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lolita Freund, and a brother, Eitel "Fuzzy" Planer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Delphos, the Rev. Bill Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours are 3-9 p.m. today at Harter and Son Memorial Chapel and an hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church.
FORT WAYNE
Died: Saturday, October 5, 2002
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Peter J. "Pete" Alvarado, 72, of Fort Wayne, died at 2 a.m. (Indiana time) Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born Jan. 19, 1930, in Taylor, Texas, the son of the late Alberto and Sophia Alvarado.
Mr. Alvarado was a self-employed carpenter until his retirement in 1989. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include:
Daughters - Christine Alvarado and Michelle Alvarado, both of Fort Wayne, and Beth Rice of Tucson, Ariz.
Brothers - Joe Alvarado of Van Wert, John Alvarado of Northbrook, Ill., Paul Alvarado and Raymond Alvarado of Indianapolis, Ind.
Sisters - Carman Jacobs of Van Wert, Lupe Chavarria of Mesa, Ariz., Dorothy Cuellar of Ossian, Ind., Mary Hernandez of Fort Wayne and Patsy Mock of Bluffton, Ind.
Three grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. (Indiana time) Tuesday at C.M. Sloan & Sons, Fort Wayne, the Rev. Robert D'Souza officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 11 a.m. to time of services (Indiana time) Tuesday at the funeral home.
HAVILAND - James L. 'Jim' Goins
Died: Friday, October 4, 2002
Age: 64
HAVILAND -- James L. "Jim" Goins, 64, of Haviland died at 3:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 11, 1938, in Greenville, the son of Mercedes (Hosbrook) Goins of Van Wert and the late Gladstone "Jack" Goins. On March 22, 1958, in Convoy, he married Carolyn L. Baker, who survives in Haviland.
Mr. Goins formerly worked at Ley Equipment and National Seal, Van Wert, and retired from Sims Cab in Payne. He served in the Ohio National Guard and was a former town councilman in Haviland.
Other survivors include three children, Cameran (Connie) Goins of Apex, N.C., Glenda Goins of Latty and Christi Dias of Haviland; two brothers, Jerry (Judy) Goins of Scott and Jack (Karen) Goins of Cecil; two sisters, Karen (Floyd) Mason of Van Wert and Roxanne Hosbrook of Tiffin; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Goins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. Don Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Blue Creek Cemetery, Haviland.
Calling hours are 2:30-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Paulding County Visiting Nurses & Hospice Program.
Howard C Wilkinson
Died: Friday, October 4, 2002
Age: 84
Howard C. Wilkinson, 84, of Lumberton and Pinehurst, N.C., died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002.
He was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Van Wert, the son of the late Townsend C. and Agnes (Kuertz) Wilkinson. His stepmother was Margaret (Huggins) Wilkinson. On Oct. 11, 1947, he married Joan Eggerss, who survives in Pinehurst.
Mr. Wilkinson was a retired executive vice president of Alpha Cellulose Corp. He attended Marion
military Institute in Marion, Ala., and Giffin Junior College in Van Wert. A major in the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served in Greenland during World War II and the Army Air Corps Reserve in Boise, Idaho, during the
Korean War.
Early in his life he worked with his family at the Wilkinson Printing Company. Following his return from the service, he was employed by Aeroquip Corp. in Van Wert. In 1960, he and his family moved to Bloomington, Ill., where he joined Alpha Cellulose Corp. In 1968, Alpha Cellulose Corp. moved its headquarters to Lumberton, where he was executive vice president until his retirement in 1994. Following his retirement, Mr. Wilkinson and his wife moved to the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst.
During his lifetime he served on the board of the Robeson County Boy Scouts and was presented the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of the Masons and a founding member of the Jaycees in Van Wert. He also belonged to the Shrine of Wilmington, N.C. He served on the board of trustees of First Federal Savings and Loan of Lumberton and Marion
military Institute of Marion.
Other survivors include two children, Christine (Patrick J.) Donovan of St. Paul, Minn., and Holly Floyd of Southern Pines, N.C.; two sisters, Louise W. Evans of Mansfield and Laura W. Conn of Boerne, Texas, and six grandchildren, Dru Donovan, Cullen Donovan, McKeever Donovan, Hennessey Donovan, Turner Floyd and Drexel Floyd.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bradford C. Wilkinson and a brother, Richard T. Wilkinson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Van Wert, the Rev. Dr. Edward Jillson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Monday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert.
Preferred memorials are Boys and Girls Club or charity of donor's choice.
