Mary Florene Hyman

MIDDLE POINT - Mary Florene Hyman, 95, a resident of Lincolnway Nursing Home, Middle Point, died at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2003, at Lincolnway Nursing Home
She was born March 19, 1908, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Henry P. and Ollie May (Hattery) Hyman.
Miss Hyman retired in 1968 as a supervisor for the Visiting Nurses Services for Indiana. She also served 17 years as a nurse in the U.S. Army, serving as a major in the Nurses Corps in both World War II and Korea receiving many medals including a Bronze Service Star. A charter member of Good Sheperd Methodist Church, Fort Wayne, Ind., she was also a member of Disabled American Veterans, National Retired Officers Association, Indiana State Nursing Officers Association, American Nursing Association and Parkview Alumni Association.
Survivors include one sister, Ardeth Foley of Atlanta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell, Wilbur, Joseph and Kenneth Hyman and two sisters, Verdene Ray and Marcile Cashel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. (EDT) Wednesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with
military graveside services conducted by combined units from Van Wert American Legion and Van Wert Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. (EDT) Tuesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is
military Organization of Ohio Soldiers Children Relief Fund.
Dennis H. Ireland
Died: Friday, April 18, 2003
Age: 53
BERNE, Ind. - Dennis H. Ireland, 53, of Berne, formerly of Decatur, Ind., died Friday, April 18, 2003, at Adams County Memorial Hospital, Decatur.
He was born Oct. 20, 1949, in Van Wert, the son of Elizabeth (Shafer) Ireland of Van Wert and the late Harley Ireland.
Mr. Ireland was a machinist for Alliance Winding. He served with the U.S. Navy.
Other survivors include:
Sons - Matt Ireland and David Ireland, both of Decatur
Daughter - Jennifer Ireland of Decatur
Sister - Brenda Thatcher of Van Wert
Fiance - Carole Mathys of Berne
One granddaughter also survives.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. (Indiana time) Wednesday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, the Rev. Jeff Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery, Decatur.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. (Indiana time) Tuesday at the funeral home.
Sylvia Celeste Priddy
Died: Friday, April 18, 2003
Age: 96
CONVOY - Sylvia Celeste Priddy, 96, of rural Convoy died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2003, at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home, Van Wert.
She was born Nov. 7, 1906, in Baldwin, Mich., the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Stallbaum) Teboe. In 1936 she married Norman Wellington Priddy, who preceded her in death on May 23, 1975.
Mrs. Priddy was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Max (Carolyn) Priddy of rural Ohio City and Gary Dean (Theresa) Priddy of Winter Haven, Fla.; one daughter, Billie Lou (William) Gipson of Elkhart, Ind.; four grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy S. Priddy; two stepgrandchildren, Barry McHugh and Mary McHugh; four brothers, Pharis, Vern, Clifford and Millard Teboe, and two sisters, Marie Bohn and Mildred Ellen Copper.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City,t he Rev. Chuck Glover of Kingsley United Methodist Church officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Preferred memorial is donor's choice.
John F. Flagg Jr.
Died: Saturday, August 02, 2003
Age: 76
CONVOY — John F. Flagg Jr., 76, of rural Convoy died at 9:47 a.m. (EDT) Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.
He was born July 5, 1927, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the son of the late John F. and Lila (Sweet) Flagg. On Dec. 5, 1973, he married Donna L. Figert, who survives of Convoy.
Mr. Flagg was an electrician for the former IBEW No. 107 Union in Grand Rapids, Mich., for 40 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and also served in the Merchant Marines and Coast Guard.
Other survivors include:
Children — Judy Klunejko and Michele D. Flagg, both of Grand Rapids, and Sherry K. Bouwman of Kalamazoo, Mich.
Stepchildren — Tim (April) Miller of Payne, Gwen (Gary) Johnson of Rochester, Mich., Penny J. Dillinger of Ossian, Ind., and Marvin K. Miller of Zanesville
Brother — Fred (Chyoko) Flagg of Seattle, Wash.
Sister — Loraine Flagg of Lansing, Mich.
Fifteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gearhart, Mack & Jurczyk Funeral Home, Convoy, the Rev. Bud Walls officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Vincent Cemetery, Paulding County, with
military graveside services conducted by Van Wert American Legion and VFW posts.
Calling hours are 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
G. Milford Holland

Age: 83
G. Milford Holland, 83, of Van Wert died at 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Lincolnway Home, Middle Point.
He was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Van Wert, the son of the late John C. and Rose A. (Berger) Holland.
Mr. Holland retired from the former Continental Can Co. after 42 years of employment. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church where he had been an usher for many years, a 1938 graduate of the former Ridge High School and a member of American Legion Post 178 in Van Wert.
Other survivors include a sister, Margaret Holland of Van Wert; seven nephews, James Holland of Van Wert, Lee Holland of Chester, Va., Clifford Holland of Anadale, N.J., Richard Pobjecky of Titusville, Fla., David Pobjecky of Auburndale, Fla., Robert Pobjecky of Winterhaven, Fla., and Thomas Pobjecky of Tallahassee, Fla.; two nieces, Sharon Owens of Marion, Ohio, and Ann Sivills of Winterhaven, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Pobjecky, and three brothers, John E. Holland, Harold L. Holland and Richard K. Holland.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Internment will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with
military graveside services conducted by the combined honors unit of American Legion Post 178 and VFW Post 5803.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Brickner Funeral Home, Van Wert, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:45 pm. Tuesday.
Preferred memorial is charity of donor’s choice.
William Stewart Ridenour
Died: Friday, August 01, 2003
Age: 43
DELPHOS — William Stewart Ridenour, 43, of Delphos died at 3:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, as the result of an auto accident on I-75.
He was born June 27, 1960, in Lima, the son of the late Richard W. and Elizabeth Joann (Stewart) Ridenour.
Mr. Ridenour was employed at Beining Contractors.
Survivors include:

Brothers — David K. (Patricia) Ridenour Sr., Richard Dale Ridenour and Steven A. Ridenour, all of Lima, and Thomas E. (Sandy) Ridenour of Delphos

Paternal aunts — Mary Margaret Baber and Mildred Ridenour, both of Lima, and Geraldine Beery of Columbus
Paternal uncle — Donald Ridenour of Lima
Several cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos, the Rev. Terry Brock officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park, Lima.
