Bill Lamb

PAULDING - Bill Lamb, 75, died at 11:50 a.m. (EDT) Friday, May 9, 2003, in his home after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Paulding County, the son of the late George and Lilly (Harmon) Lamb. On July 24, 1954, he married Jacqueline Stair, who survives.
Mr. Lamb was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a fireman 2nd Class.

Daughter - Jo Ellen (Robert) Price of Paulding
Sisters - Donibel Burnett, Georgia Williams, Margaret Bauer and June Burke, all of Defiance
Five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Lamb.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. (EDT) Tuesday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, the Rev. Susan Taylor officiating. Paulding Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 587 will conduct
military memorial services. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery at a later date.
Calling hours are 10-11 a.m. (EDT) Tuesday at the funeral home.
Virgil Vorhees
Died: Friday, May 09, 2003
Age: 80
CELINA - Virgil Vorhees, 80, of Celina died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2003, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Rossburg, the son of the late Russell E. and Goldie M. (Silvers) Vorhees. On May 6, 1950, he married Maxine Kuhn, who preceded him in death on July 13, 2001.
Mr. Vorhees had been employed by the City of Celina and owned and operated Kohns News Agency for 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy Seabee veteran of World War II.
Survivors include:
Sons - Mark Vorhees, Randy (Bonnie) Vorhees and Scott Vorhees, all of Celina
Daughters - JoAnn (Ned) Pryer, Sue (Tom) Sanders and Beth Vorhees, all of Celina
Brother - Jack D. (Sandy) Vorhees of Celina
Sisters - Onnalee (Ed) Meyers of Lansing, Mich., Helen (Robert) Sneddon of Celina, Pat (Bud) Shively of Convoy and Karen (Michael) Bryant of Monroe, Mich.
Twelve grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Doris Mae West, Irene Goodpaster, Betty Huston and Norma Smitley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, the Rev. Jim Seibert officiating. Burial will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, where a rosary service will be held at 8 p.m.
Ruth E. DuCheney
Died: Friday, May 09, 2003
Age: 89
Ruth E. DuCheney, 89, of rural Van Wert died at 6:49 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born March 7, 1914, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Oris Hayes and Ethel May (Remagen) Rogers. On Dec. 14, 1935, she married Kenneth R. DuCheney, who preceded her in death on April 30, 1997.
Mrs. DuCheney was a homemaker. A member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Van Wert, she was active in the church, United Methodist Women and the Ridge Progressive Club.
Survivors include her children, Ralph (Marlene) DuCheney and Kent (Karen) DuCheney, both of Van Wert, and Carole (Ron) Long of Middle Point; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Espy Rogers, and a sister, Margaret Kelley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. James Howell officiating. Burial will bin Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is the church.
Leonard A. Zartman
Died: Thursday, May 08, 2003
Age: 87
PAYNE - Leonard A. Zartman, 87, of Payne died at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.
He was born June 7, 1915, in Haviland, the son of the late Wesley and Laura (Gibson) Zartman. He married Elizabeth Yenser, who preceded him in death in 1992.
Mr. Zartman was a retired farmer.
Survivors include:
Daughter - Cara Hicks of Payne
Sister - Gay Elledge of Germfask, Mich.
Four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Ray in 1966 and James in 1992.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. (EDT) Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Payne, the Revs. Amy Hains and Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Wiltsie Cemetery, Payne.
Calling hours are after 4 p.m. (EDT) Sunday at Slade Funeral Home, Payne.
Patricia Ann Margalski
Died: Thursday, May 08, 2003
Age: 65
Patricia Ann Margalski, 65, of Van Wert died at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert.
She was born March 17, 1938, in Perrysburg, the daughter of the late Anita (Kushner) Beloff and Andrew Beloff, who survives in Navarre, Fla. On Sept. 29, 1979, she married Ralph Margalski, who preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1995.
Mrs. Margalski had worked in sales for many years. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Van Wert, was an active volunteer for the Van Wert Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Van Wert Area Visiting Nurses Hospice program and had performed in the Toledo, Ohio, opera.
Other survivors include two sons, Steve (Tarri) Antal of Van Wert and Dean (Kelly) Margalski of Toledo; two daughters, Sharon (Jeff) Cubner of Toledo and Terri (Chuck) Anderson of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren, Ashley Lewis, Zachary Lewis, Hannah Sue Antal, Heather, Ryan, Aaron and Sean Chubner and Hiliary Anderson, and one great-grandchild, Skyler Lewis.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Van Wert, the Rev. Tom Gorman officiating.
A reception will be held at the church following the service.
Preferred memorial is Van Wert Area Visiting Nurses Hospice program.
Arrangements were handled by Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home.
John Richard Weber

Age: 76
LIMA - John Richard "Dick" Weber, 76, died at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born July 10, 1926, in Putnam County, the son of the late Harvey E. and Ola (Rogers) Weber. On May 4, 1951, he married Mary L. Derringer, who preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 1998.
Mr. Weber worked for Lima Electric, retiring after 15 years. He had previously worked at Rusco Allied Industries. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from Oct. 3, 1944 to June 28, 1946 at Naval Air Base in Guam as security patrol.
Survivors include:
Son - Douglas (Mary) Weber of Van Wert
Sisters - Betty (Donald) Edie of Indianapolis and Mary (Fred) Johnston of Findlay
One grandson, Joshua (Kristy Boose) Weber of Lima and a great-grandson, Jack D. Weber, also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Weber, and a sister Pearl Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, the Rev. Bill Williams officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, with
military graveside service conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
