Arthur A. Grone

DELPHOS - Arthur A. Grone, 86, died at 6:12 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born March 8, 1917, in Marion Township, the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Kaverman) Grone. He married Eva L. Yochum, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Grone was a rural mail carrier for the Delphos Post Office for 44 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a carpenter's mate first class for three years.

Sons - Neil (Norma) Grone of West Chester, James (Lois) Grone of Fort Jennings and Michael (Dawn) Grone of Sidney
Daughters - Mary (Kinnaird) Kniss of Avilla, Ind., and Diana (Richard) Hitchcock of Delphos
Sisters-in-law - Zelma Grone and Patricia Yochum, both of Delphos, and Beatrice Basinger of Oregon
Eleven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Marie Reinemeyer, and a brother, Richard Grone.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos, the Rev. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today.
Francis Dale Kadesch
Died: Wednesday, May 14, 2003
Age: 82
PAULDING - Francis Dale Kadesch, 82, died at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Dallas Lamb Foundation Home, Payne.
He was born June 11, 1920, in Paulding County, the son of the late Frank and Goldie (Hoover) Kadesch. On June 11, 1942, he married Aletha Dangler, who survives.
Mr. Kadesch was employed at Johns-Manville, Defiance, for 20 years, retiring in 1978.

Sons - Gary (Linda) Kadesch of Defiance and Ronnie (Vicki) Kadesch of Paulding
Six grandchildren, Sharolee Huet, Brian Kepler, Tisha Sandys, Steven, Kody and Kassi Kadesch, two great-granddaughters, Paige and Isabel Sandys, and a great-grandson, Nathan Huet, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. (EDT) Saturday at Paulding First Christian Church, the Revs. Jack Berry and Susan Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Cooper Cemetery, Paulding.
Calling hours are noon (EDT) until service time Saturday at the church.
Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, is in charge of arrangements.
Susan Vivian Martin

Age: 60
Susan Vivian Martin, 60, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, in her home.
She was born June 21, 1942, in Lima, the daughter of the late David and Wilma (Rowe) McGee.
Ms. Martin was previously employed by Teleflex of Van Wert, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include:
Sons - Lee (Paula) Martin and Jai Martin, both of Lima
Daughters - Stacey (Lynn) Owens of Cleveland and Ida (Danny) Howard of Las Flores, Calif.
Brother - Donald Tim McGee of Cleveland
Sister - Jennifer (Juan) Rodriguez of Paulding
Seven grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. (EDT) Monday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, the Rev. Bill Watson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Grover Hill.
Calling hours are 2-6 (EDT) Sunday at the funeral home.
Albert Otis Craig
Died: Tuesday, May 13, 2003
Age: 79
Services were held Thursday in Utah for Albert Otis Craig, 79, a former resident of Van Wert, who passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2003, in West Valley City, Utah.
Mr. Craig, sometimes known as Abe or Albert, was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Van Wert, the third son of Joseph Sr. and Cecil (Risher) Craig.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, his son, David Maiorano, and a sister, Juanita Druckemiller. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter, Joseph Jr. and Ray Eugene Craig, and a sister, Betty Walden.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Utah's Heritage Hospice, 25 S. Main St. No. 210, Centerville, UT 84014-1840.
Ruth Irene Dershem
Died: Tuesday, May 13, 2003
Age: 92
SPENCERVILLE - Ruth Irene Dershem, 92, of Spencerville, died at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville.
She was born May 9, 1911, in the Fort Amanda area, the daughter of the late Archelaus and Irana May Baker Martin. On Nov. 21, 1931, she married Byron H. Dershem, who preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1960.
Mrs. Dershem had worked for Lima Telephone Co. as an operator/supervisor for the Elida, Gomer and Bluffton areas, then the S.S. Kressge Co., Shepherd Real Estate, Penney's and the Duff Truck Line, all in Lima.
Survivors include:
Daughter - Alice M. Dershem of Lima
Sons - Thomas L. (Kay) Dershem of Trussville, Ala., and Robert L. (Betty) Dershem of Lima
Daughters-in-law - Jeanine Dershem of Pensacola, Fla., Betty Dershem of Newark and Helen Dershem of Worthington
Sisters - Eunice Shock of Lima, Cleona (Robert) Layton of Cridersville and Mary May "Dolly" (James) Carmean of St. Marys
Brother - Norman (Marvalee) Martin of St. Marys
Twenty-one grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild also survive.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Carroll A Dershem, Byron E. Dershem and James M. Dershem; a daughter, Mary Yazel; three brothers, John, Peter and Carl Martin, and a sister, Kathryn McPheron.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Tim Yazel officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Fort Amanda Cemetery.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Gaylord C. Kreischer
Died: Tuesday, May 13, 2003
Age: 78
Gaylord C. "Fritz" Kreischer, 78, of Van Wert died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at his residence.
He was born July 16, 1924, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Lawrence W. and Edith R. (McClure) Kreischer.
Mr. Kreischer was a retired postal worker from the Lima, Ohio, post office. He was also a railway mail clerk for 20 years before working in Lima. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Van Wert. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he received the Purple Heart and was a member of the Van Wert Veterans of Foreign Wars post and Van Wert American Legion post, as well as a former member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
Survivors include seven brothers, Ralph (Helen) Kreischer of Van Wert, Gerald (Dixie) Kreischer and Harold (Sherry) Kreischer, both of Ohio City, James Kreischer of Van Wert, Larry (Karen) Kreischer of Convoy, Max (Janet) Kreischer of Van Wert and Ronnie (Linda) Kreischer of Lexington, Ohio; three sisters, Barbara (Robert) Bashore of Paulding, Marcile Pennell of Idaho Springs, Colo., and Audrey Harter of Ridgecrest, Calif., and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Floyd.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in rural Van Wert, the Rev. Kenyon Kaehr officiating. Burial will be in Evangelical Protestant Cemetery, rural Van Wert, with
military graveside rites performed by combined units of the Van Wert posts of the VFW and American Legion.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert.
Preferred memorials are Salvation Army or donor's choice.
