Patrick James Keipper
Died: Monday, July 21, 2003
Age: 46
Patrick James Keipper, 46, of Van Wert, died at 3:12 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2003 at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born March 21, 1957 in Wiesbaden, Germany, the son of Martha E. Schilling of Van Wert and the late Robert V. Keipper.
He is survived by four sisters, Mary (Dennis) Sandel of Convoy, Suzie (Tim) Emrick and Laura Mason, both of Van Wert, Vanessa (Mike) Shaver of Logansport, Ind., two brothers, Edward Keipper of Van Wert and Colin (Gladys) Keipper of Norfolk, Va. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Keipper was a member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church and the United States Marine Corp, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 178 and Vietnam Veterans of America. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 24, at Brickner Funeral Home, Deacon Andrew McMahon officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Woodland Cemetery with
military graveside services conducted by the combined Honors Unit of the American Legion Post 178 and V.F.W. Post 5803. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Imogene Wortman
Died: Sunday, July 20, 2003
Age: 86
VAN WERT — Imogene Wortman, 86, of Van Wert died at 8:19 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2003 at Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima.
She was born Sept. 5, 1916, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Elmer Speelman and Mable (Smith) Speelman. She married George Wortman, who preceded her in death in 1975.
Mrs. Wortman drove a school bus for 27 years for Crestview Schools and helped farm and breed sheep with her husband. She was a member of North Union United Methodist Church, Van Wert. She was also a former member of the Van Wert County Fair Board and an honorary member of the Crestview FFA.
Survivors include a brother, Carl (Rosalyn) Speelman of Van Wert, five grandchildren, Greg (Lisa) Wortman, Mike (Christy) Wortman, Scott Wortman, Kathy (Josh) Overmyer, Cindy (Dave) Lamb, nine great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Judy Wortman of Van Wert.
She was preceded in death by a son, Harold Wortman, two brothers, Earl and Alfred Speelman, and a grandson, Jeff Wortman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert with the Rev. MaryAnn Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Crestview FFA or North Union United Methodist Church.
Troy A. Johnson
Died: Saturday, July 19, 2003
Age: 36
VAN WERT — Troy A. Johnson, 36, of Van Wert, died Saturday, July 19, 2003 in Dallas, Texas .
He was born May 17, 1967 in Franklin County, the son of Donald Johnson and Patricia (Dunlap) Johnson who both survive in Van Wert.
Mr. Johnson was a truck driver for U.S.A. Trucking Co. He was a graduate of Van Wert High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army during Desert Storm and a graduate of ITT in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Survivors include a son, Christopher Johnson of Highland, Mich., a daughter, Samantha Johnson of Highland, Mich., a sister Tammy Sue Johnson of Dublin, a maternal grandmother, Marcile Dunlap of Van Wert and a paternal grandmother, Dorothy Death of Van Wert.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert with the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are after noon on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
Julie Anne Jackson Eichler
Died: Friday, July 18, 2003
Age: 41
ROCKFORD — Julie Anne Jackson Eichler, 41, of Rockford died at 6:42 a.m. (Indiana time) Friday, July 18, 2003, in an auto accident on Route 218, Berne, Ind.
She was born April 10, 1962, in St. Marys, the daughter of Ralph and Dorothy (Robbins) Rhoades, who survive. On Jan. 3, 2003, she married Brice A. Eichler, who survives.
Mrs. Eichler worked as an accountant at Micromatic in Berne.

Stepchildren — Rachel L. Eichler and Jennifer L. Eichler, both of St. Henry
She was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Fisher.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Karen Long officiating. Burial will be in Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.

Cecil Marcom
Died: Thursday, July 17, 2003
Age: 82
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Cecil Marcom, 82, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Heritage Park Health Care Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born in Manchester, Tenn. He married L. Joyce Marcom, who survives in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Marcom retired in 1978 as a maintenance supervisor from International Harvester after 27 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy Reserve veteran of World War II.

Private memorial services planned. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Patricia S. Hirschfeld
Died: Wednesday, July 16, 2003
Age: 69
CELINA — Patricia S. Hirschfeld, 69, of Celina died at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Hopewell Township, the Revs. Arvid A. Harklau and Eugene Hegemier officiating. Burial will be in Buck Cemetery in Hopewell Township.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Shelva J. Schoonover
Died: Wednesday, July 16, 2003
Age: 66
HAVILAND — Shelva J. Schoonover, 66, of rural Haviland died at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 12, 1936, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Sylvester and Marcile (Raymond) Brabant. On Sept. 4, 1954, she married Frank R. Schoonover, who survives in Haviland.
Mrs. Schoonover worked at Delphos Equity many years ago and also worked at the Van Wert Manufacturing Company in Van Wert for several years. She attended Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert and had been very active over the years with the church youth group and had been a volunteer at Paulding County Hospital, Paulding.

Sisters — Betty (Franklin) Hawk of Defiance and Dorothy (Bud) Martin of Wapakoneta
Eleven grandchildren, one stepgrandchild and two great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Metcalf.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert. Burial will be in Blue Creek Cemetery, Haviland.
Calling hours are 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
