Charles R. Minyoung
Died: Tuesday, August 05, 2003
Age: 71
Charles R. "Chuck" Minyoung, 71, died at 5:10 p.m. Aug. 5, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was born in Marion to the late Roger D. Minyoung and Gladys E. Brannum Minyoung Foster on Sept. 16, 1931.
He had been married to Janet A. Sidle Johnson, who lives in Jackson, Mich. Surviving is a son, Paul Minyoung of Lexington, Kentucky; three daughters, Dawna (Michael) Davis of Van Wert, Karen (Keith) Lovejoy of Charlotte, N.C. and Julie Andrey of Detroit, Mich.
On Sept. 12, 1967, he married Romaine Maurer Brown who survives. Also surviving are two brothers, Fred Foster and Jerry Foster, both of Toledo and one sister, Diane (Foster) Hupp of Maumee. Other survivors include three stepsons and two stepdaughters; eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one step-great grandchild.
Mr. Minyoung was a
Korean War veteran. He was a police officer on the Van Wert Police Department for five years and also as a deputy sheriff under Wilmer L. Clay. He was formerly employed as a truck driver for Borden’s and retired from Schneider Trucking in Green Bay, Wis. He had been a driver for Westwood Behavioral Health Center in Van Wert.
There will be no public services or visitation. Arrangements are by Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert.
Esther Mumy
Died: Tuesday, August 05, 2003
Age: 86
MARK CENTER — Esther Mumy, 86, formerly of Mark Center, died at 5:15 a.m. (EDT) Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, in Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Hicksville, where she had been a resident for three years.
She was born June 18, 1917, in Cecil, the daughter of the late Floyd and Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Woodring. On May 17, 1939, she married Clarence E. Mumy, who preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2000.
Mrs. Mumy was a homemaker.
Survivors include:
Son — Harry (Charlene) Mumy of Lyons, Ohio
Daughters — Elizabeth (Jerry) Garlock of Columbus and Ellen Jackson of New Haven, Ind.
Brother — Donald (Dorothy) Woodring of Lyons
Seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Wayne Woodring.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. (EDT) Friday in Cecil Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Keith Sarver officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery, Cecil.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. (EDT) Thursday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and an hour prior to service Friday at the church.
Charles G. Watson
Died: Wednesday, October 01, 2003
Age: 77
STURGIS, Mich. — Charles G. Watson, 77, of Sturgis passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at the home of his daughter in Coldwater, Mich.
Charles was born May 15, 1926, in Pulaski Township, Mich., to Ray and Olive (Dunham) Watson. On Sept. 5, 1949, he married Margaret E. Potter and she preceded him in death Dec. 18, 1998.
He was a 1944 graduate of Litchfield High School. He was a co-owner/operator of Union Products, which manufactured windows and doors for the RV industry, also working for Walker Manufacturing in Jackson, Mich., for 10 years and farming.
His survivors include one daughter, Sandra (James) Risner of Coldwater; a son, Jerry (Sandy) Watson of Sturgis; one sister, Barbara Gilliland of Van Wert; four grandchildren, Stacey Watson, Jason Watson, B.J. Risner and Mrs. Brett (Kim Risner) Piehl, and two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Nicole Piehl.
Also preceding him in death was a brother, Junior Watson.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the George White Funeral Home in Quincy, Mich. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Harold E. Baumle
Died: Tuesday, September 30, 2003
Age: 76
PAYNE — Harold E. Baumle, 76, of Payne died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Jan. 15, 1927, in Payne, the son of the late Roman and Vivian (Hummell) Baumle. On Jan. 21, 1950, he married Theresa Linder, who survives.
Mr. Baumle, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was a retired partner with his brother John in Baumle’s Sohio Service, Payne.
Other survivors include:
Sons — Roman Baumle of Haviland, Steven Baumle of Middle Point, and Jerry Baumle, Victor Baumle and Curt Baumle, all of Payne
Daughters — Karen Bennett and Angela Bidlack, both of Payne, Joan Moser of Van Wert, Jean Porter of Lodi, Wis., and Jan Smith of Paulding
Brothers — Robert Baumle and John Baumle, both of Payne
Twenty-five grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Norbert Baumle.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. (EDT) Saturday at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Payne, the Rev. William Martin officiating. Burial will be in church Cemetery, Payne, with
military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 297, Payne.
Calling hours are after 4 p.m. (EDT) Friday at Slade Funeral Home, Payne, where a rosary service will be held at 8:30 p.m. (EDT) Friday.
Daniel Leroy Friedly
Died: Monday, September 29, 2003
Age: 81
Daniel Leroy Friedly, 81, of Van Wert died at 12:13 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Convoy Care Center, Convoy.
He was born July 17, 1922, in Convoy, the son of the late Julius and Ida (Oechsle) Friedly. On Feb. 8, 1947, he married Marilyn Wilson, who preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 2001.
Mr. Friedly retired in 1996 as owner of Friedly Evergreens. He was also a farmer and nurseryman. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He fellowshipped with The Way International, New Knoxville, and was a member of the 73rd Bomb Wing Association, Wassenberg Art Center in Van Wert, Van Wert Historical Society and the Alpha Tau Zeta Fraternity of Ohio State University.
Survivors include his children, Daniel W. Friedly of Bradford and Lyna (Lee) Friedly Rizor of Huntsville, Ala.; one brother, Robert Friedly of Jupiter, Fla.; a sister, Wanda Overmyer of Greenville; five grandchildren, Nathan and Joel Friedly and Frances, Jonathan and Betsy Rizor.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Nolan.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. Malvin George officiating. Private family burial is planned.
Calling hours are 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home. The family will also be available after services.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorial is Convoy Care Center Activities Fund.
Minnie Boneta Deitsch
Died: Monday, September 29, 2003
Age: 86
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Minnie Boneta Deitsch, 86, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Rockford and Celina, died at 7:06 p.m. (Indiana time) Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 30, 1916, in Rockford, the daughter of the late Benjamin Calvin Snyder and Merlie Catherine Rush Snyder. On Aug. 6, 1937, she married Olen Ordale Deitsch, who survives in Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Deitsch was a homemaker.
Other survivors include:
Daughters — Sue Ellen Deitsch, Judy Ann (James) Sherron and Cindy Deitsch, all of Fort Wayne, and Joyce (Richard) Fishel of San Demas, Calif.
Sister — Bessie Fancke of Celina
One grandchild and a stepgrandchild also survive.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Darlene, Dee, Lowell and Verl Snyder, five sisters, Lena Cook, Lela Felver, Arberdeen Fickert, Opal Huffman and Jessie Sapp, and a stepgrandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. ( Ohio time) Friday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday and an hour prior to service Friday at the funeral home.
