Edna Winkler Plikerd
Died: Monday, June 09, 2003
Age: 91
WILLSHIRE — Edna Winkler Plikerd, 91, of Willshire died at 11:35 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2003, at Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born Oct. 3, 1911, near Willshire, the daughter of the late Henry A. and Catherine Jane (Weaver) Winkler. On May 8, 1937, she married Paul S. Plikerd, who preceded her in death on June 6, 1993.
Mrs. Plikerd taught in one-room schools in Blackcreek Township in Mercer County and two years in the Cumberland Mountains of Kentucky. During World War II, she worked as a mail and record file clerk in the Supply Building at Pearl Harbor and was later a secretary to an electrician leadman by the 4th Drydock until the war’s end. On her return to Ohio she taught fifth grades in Mendon and York schools. When York was absorbed into the Lincolnview system, she was transferred to the school at Middle Point where she completed 28 years of teaching when she retired in 1975.

Sister — Lucretia Winkler Brandt of North Manchester, Ind.
Nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by a foster son, John Ramirez, four brothers, Lee, Walter, Henry and John, and a sister, Esther Dellinger.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Revs. Robert Loar and Mark Rutledge officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery on U.S. 33 between Rockford and Willshire.
Visitation is one hour prior to service Thursday at the funeral home.
Bessie E. White
Died: Monday, June 09, 2003
Age: 86
ROCKFORD — Bessie E. (Sill) White, 86, of Rockford died Monday morning, June 9, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Willshire Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of Abram Bienz and Hyla (Dellinger) Bienz. On Jan. 28, 1938, she married Charles Willis "Bill" Sill, who preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 1976. On March 25, 1979, she married Donald W. White, who preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 2001.
Mrs. White retired from Kroger Company.
Survivors include:
Sons — Stanley D. (Kathleen) Sill and Jerry L. (Marjorie) Sill, both of Rockford
Sisters — Mary Leasor of Rockford and Jessie Hahnert of South Whitley, Ind.
Four grandchildren, one stepgrandson and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Robert Loar officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Sally E. Thompson

Age: 61
FINDLAY — Sally E. Thompson, 61, of Findlay died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, after a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 6, 1941, in Findlay, the daughter of Evelyn R. (Fellers) Beck and the late Merlin R. Beck. She married Harold Tweed and they divorced. She then married Larry E. Thompson on March 22, 1978, and he survives.
Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker and retired as a bus driver for the Findlay City Schools. She attended Findlay High School and was a 1959 graduate. She enjoyed crafts as a hobby and quilted, sewed, crocheted and made ceramic pieces. She was awarded many ribbons at the Hancock County Fair for her quilting. She was a life member of the AmVets Auxiliary and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and a member of Women of the Moose.
Other survivors include her mother, Evelyn R. (Bernard L. "Bud") Langstaff, one son, David Tweed; three daughters, Deborah E. (Daniel) Hill, Lorie (Mark) Amstutz and Kim (Terry) Thompson, all of Findlay; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Beck of Clovis, N.M., and William Beck of Defiance, and one sister, Judy (Harold) Weist of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kirkpatrick Behnke Funeral Home, Findlay, with Brinton C. Simmons Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Karl J. Pohlman
Died: Saturday, June 07, 2003
Age: 47
DELPHOS — Karl J. Pohlman, 47, of Delphos died early Saturday morning, June 7, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 18, 1955, in Delphos, the son of Rosemary (Burgei) Pohlman of Delphos and the late Arthur A. Pohlman. He married Donna L. Miller, who survives in Delphos.
Mr. Pohlman was a self-employed carpenter and owner/operator of KP Builder/Karl’s Construction. A 1974 graduate of Delphos St. Johns, he was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He devoted much of his time to the Boy Scouts, serving as assistant Scout master. He enjoyed working with wood and outdoors. He had a big heart and was ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and was a devoted father.
Other survivors include a son, Anthony Pohlman of Delphos; two daughters, Lindsay Pohlman and Jessica Pohlman, both of Delphos; one brother, Dennis L. (Rita M.) Pohlman of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a son, Levi Pohlman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos, the Rev. Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Delphos.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Preferred memorial is to the family.

CELINA — Graveside services for Jesse C. Moore, 89, of Celina, formerly of Fort Recovery, who died April 23, 2003, at The Gardens at Celina will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Spring Hill Cemetery in Fort Recovery, the Rev. W. Clark Williman of Calvary Evangelical Church officiating.
Lois Virginia Cuellar
Died: Wednesday, June 18, 2003
Age: 83
DELTONA, Fla. — Lois Virginia Cuellar, 83, of Deltona and a native of Van Wert, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial.
She was born in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Lawrence Harold and Ilo Blank Lee. She married Pete H. Cuellar, who preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1995.
Mrs. Cuellar retired after 30 years as a tool grinder at International Harvester in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Survivors include:
Daughters — Phyllis Brummer of Deltona and Jean Ann Partin of Ossian, Ind.
Four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, Ossian, the Rev. Walter Graeflin officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Fort Wayne.
Betty Lou Friemoth
Died: Wednesday, June 18, 2003
Age: 76
DELPHOS — Betty Lou Friemoth, 76, of Delphos died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Roselawn Manor, Spencerville.
She was born Oct. 3, 1926, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Alva and Lucille (Best) Wollet. She married William Turnwald Jr., who was died April 1945 in World War II. On May 14, 1949, she married Elmer Friemoth, who survives in Delphos.
Mrs. Friemoth worked at Pangles for 18 years and was the owner of El-Bee Ceramics.

Daughters — Joyce (Mike) Wilson of Plant City, Fla., and Linda (John) Huffman of Delphos
Daughter-in-law — Nancy Friemoth of Middle Point
Sisters — Margie (Hubert) Truman, Marlene (Tom) Hoak and Donna (Dick) Maloney, all of Delphos
Nineteen grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Friemoth; one daughter, Jean Ann (Friemoth) Crumrine; two sisters, Claudine Dotson and Ruth Ashbaugh, and one brother, Carl Wollet.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
