Charles Williams Sr.

ST. MARYS — Charles "Shorty" Williams Sr., 70, of St. Marys died at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at the home of his daughter following an extended illness.
He was born June 16, 1933, in Van Wert, the son of Ira and Zelma (Hammond) Williams. On March 16, 1957, he married Dorothy Lindeman, who preceded him in death on June 29, 1992.
Survivors include:
Children — Connie (Lewis) Blosser, Dianne Cotterman (fiancé, Brian Hitchen) and Vickie (Terry) Fowler, all of St. Marys, Cindy (Tim) Smith of Celina, Chuck (Tammy Burkholder) of Decatur, Ind., Tony (Stacy) Williams of Shelby, N.C., and Danny Williams of Decatur
Former daughter-in-law — Cora Diane Williams of Celina
Former son-in-law, Darrell Bayman of St. Marys
Sisters — Helen Ackerman of Spencerville and Betty Snyder of Clyde
Seventeen grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Paul and Clarence Williams, two sisters, Clarabelle and Marjorie Williams, and one son-in-law, Bob Cotterman.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Peggy Jean Dunn
Died: Saturday, October 04, 2003
Age: 66
Peggy Jean Dunn, 66, of Van Wert died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center, Van Wert, following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 2, 1937, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Roger Simon Butler, who died June 19, 1987, and Edythe (Agler) Butler. On Dec. 18, 1957, she married Richard G. Dunn, who survives in Van Wert.
Mrs. Dunn was a homemaker. She was a 1955 graduate of Van Wert High School, an avid Cougar fan and supporter of the school system, a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert, active in Twig III of Van Wert County Hospital and was assistant buyer for the hospital gift shop for over 20 years.
Other survivors include two sons, Brian (Valori) Dunn and Troy A. (Pamela) Dunn, both of Van Wert; one daughter, Lisa Dunn of Van Wert; a brother — John D. (Karen S.) Butler of Van Wert; one sister, Patricia Crowe of Van Wert, and three grandchildren, Lydia Rose Dunn, Tanner Dunn and Rylee Dunn.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Diane Dunn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, and an hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Preferred memorials are First United Methodist Church Building Fund or Van Wert County Hospital.
Erma C. Black
Died: Friday, October 03, 2003
Age: 73
MONTGOMERY, Mich. — Erma C. Black, 73, of Montgomery, formerly of Van Wert County, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, Mich.
She was born Feb. 8, 1930, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Glenn and Bertha (Maxwell) Jackson. She married Richard Black, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Black was a homemaker.
Survivors include:
Sister — Mildred Keith of Coldwater, Mich.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey G. and Alford L.. Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brickner Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point.
Calling hours are 2-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Della Bernetha Breyley
Died: Friday, October 03, 2003
Age: 90
SYCAMORE — Della Bernetha Breyley, 90, of Sycamore died at 4 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Wyandot County Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky.
She was born Sept. 27, 1913, in Spencer, the daughter of the late Otto and Olive (Yoder) Allen. On March 2, 1935, she married William J. Breyley, who survives.
Mrs. Breyley was a homemaker.
Other survivors include:
Children — Lowell E. Breyley of Sycamore, William G. (Joanne) Breyley of Bucyrus and Irene (Lyn O.) Bell of Van Wert
Brother — Frank Wynter of Denver, Colo.
Sister — Faith I. Giar of Wellington
Eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore.

William D. Callow
Died: Thursday, October 02, 2003
Age: 72
DECATUR, Ind. — William D. Callow, 72, of Decatur died at 2:15 p.m. (Indiana time) Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at his residence. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving from Aug. 25, 1950 to Feb. 20, 1952.
There will be no services or visitation.
Dorothy J. (Germann) Henry
Died: Wednesday, October 01, 2003
ENFIELD, Conn. — Dorothy "Dot" J. (Germann) Henry, 78, of Enfield, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Beaumont Rehab & Nursing Center in Westborough, Mass.
She was born Dec. 17, 1924, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Hawkins) Germann. She married Charles E. Henry, who preceded her in death in November 1982.
Mrs. Henry was employed for 16 years with the Enfield Senior Citizen’s Center and at Combustion Engineering before that.
Survivors include:
Daughters — Charlene Henry of Van Wert and Denise (Scott) Tibbo of Hopkinton, Mass.
Two granddaughters, Sara Beth and Melissa Tibbo; one niece; a nephew, and two grandnieces also survive.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Presbyterian Church, Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Monday at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.
Dale D. Cook
Died: Wednesday, October 01, 2003
Age: 80
OHIO CITY — Dale D. Cook, 80, of Ohio City died at 11:29 a.m. (Indiana time) Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind., where he had been a patient since Sunday.
He was born Oct. 20, 1922, in Adams County, Ind., the son of the late William and Pearl Mae (Gause) Cook. On Oct. 20, 1949, he married Dorothy A. Irwin, who preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 1994.
Mr. Cook owned and operated the Dale Cook Garage for 22 years until he retired. He was a former employee of Hi-Way Service in Decatur for 19 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, who served in the European Theater. He received a Bronze Star.
Survivors include a son, David Cook of Decatur, Ind.; four brothers, Herbert Cook, Richard Cook and Virgil Cook, all of Decatur, and William Cook of Rome City, Ind.; three sisters, Josephine Hirschy of Berne, Ind., and Isabelle King and Rosie Lough, both of Decatur; four grandchildren, Karle and Stacey Oliver, Michael and Janelle Adams, Kari L. Cook and Shawn D. Cook, all of Van Wert, and six great-grandchildren, Robert A. Cook, Anthony M. Oliver, M. Trey Oliver, Isaiah J. Oliver, Jacob D. Adams and Sarah N. Adams, all of Van Wert.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Kipfer, Hazel Johnson and Opal Hess, four brothers, Roy, Albert, Lester, Wilbur Cook, and one great-grandson, Andrew Adams.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. (Indiana time) Saturday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, the Rev. Robert Shook officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery with
military graveside service by Adams County Post 43 of Decatur.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. (Indiana time) today at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are Family Hospice of N.E. Indiana and Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children.
