Goldie Lorraine Carroll

Goldie Lorraine Carroll, 78, of Van Wert died at 1:40 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Celina Manor, Celina.
She was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Pardee, Va., the daughter of the late Samuel and Virginia (Morefield) Carroll.
Survivors include three stepbrothers, Joseph Morefield of Michigan, Luther Morefield and Glen Morefield, both of Fairborn, Ohio; three stepsisters, Kathlene Blanton, Belle Carrier of Mendota, VA., and Doris Schaffer of Mendota, and several nieces and nephews. Goldie was a devoted animal lover and she is also survived by her precious cat, "Baby."
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Charles Morefield, three brothers, Elmo Carroll, Claude Carroll and Woodrow Carroll, and a sister, Juanita Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Brickner Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Scott E. Fleming officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Community Health Professionals & Hospice.
Lloyd M. Bowersock
Died: Friday, August 15, 2003
Age: 76
Lloyd M. Bowersock, 76, of Van Wert died at 11:26 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at his residence.
He was born July 9, 1927, in Van Wert County, the son of the late John and Lula (Martin) Bowersock. On April 3, 1948, in Delphos, he married Helen E. Harvey, who survives.
Mr. Bowersock, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, was a farmer for over 40 years and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert.
Other survivors include his children, Sharon (David) Osting and Cheryl (Greg) Mendenhall, both of Van Wert; a sister, Roberta Hitchcock of Middle Point; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, L. Burdette, Virgil and Burnell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. Timothy Burden officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is the Scott EMS.
Ethel P. Hittle Boroff
Died: Thursday, August 14, 2003
Age: 85
DELPHOS — Ethel P. Hittle Boroff, 85, of Delphos died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born May 13, 1918, in Marble Town, the daughter of the late Barney and Lauretta (Briggs) Ralston. In 1938, she married Otho V. Hittle, who preceded her in death in October 1953. In November 1969, she married Glen Boroff, who preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1999.
Mrs. Boroff retired from DWG Cigar Factory in Lima and had also worked at the Bending Company.
Survivors include:
Son — Gary (Pat) Hittle of Celina
Daughters — Karen (Dick) Stant and Kathy (Bill) Guthrie, both of Delphos, and Sandy (Terry) Hupp of Spencerville
Stepdaughters — Rhea (Paul) Swander and Mary Louise Ries, both of Ohio City
Stepson — William "Bill" (Dee) Boroff of Convoy
Eleven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by two stepsons, Edwin and Donald Boroff, three brothers, Walter, Saul and Carl Ralson, and six sisters, Millie Coon, Helen Swick, Edith Buschor, Fern Moreo, Gladys Boerger and Kathryn Cross.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harter & Son Memorial Chapel, Delphos. Burial will be in Hartford Cemetery.

Matthew R. Sharkey
Died: Thursday, August 14, 2003
Age: 79
Matthew R. "Bob" Sharkey, 79, of Van Wert died at 4:38 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Bayonne, N.J., the son of the late Mae (Sharkey) Tabette. His stepfather, Albert Tarbette, also preceded him in death. On Nov. 1, 1952, he married Ruth Mae Hartman, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Sharkey had been an over the road truck driver for many years and retired after many years from Conrads Truck Stop.
Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Joyce Cross of Delphos; two sisters, Mary Jane (Tarbette) Davies of Texarkana, Ark., and Madeline (Tarbette) Bolenski of Miami, Fla.; two stepgranddaughters, Beverly (Cross) McNeal and Tammy Cross, both of Delphos; one grandson, Luke Cross of Delphos; two great-grandsons, Sean McNeal and A.J. Cross, both of Delphos; two nieces, Tressa Bissonette and Kimberly Bissonette of Van Wert; one nephew, Josh Bissonette of Van Wert; a great nephew, Austin Thatcher of Van Wert; many other nieces and nephews, and his best friend, his dog, "Wolfee."
He was preceded in death by one brother, James Tarbette; a grandson, James Cross; a great-grandson, Tyler Cross, and a son-in-law, Art Cross.
Private family services will be held. Internment will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
There will be no visitation.
Michael L. Neidhardt
Died: Wednesday, August 13, 2003
Age: 56
PAYNE — Michael L. Neidhardt, 56, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at Paulding County Hospital, Paulding.
He was born March 24, 1947, in Hicksville, the son of Gene and Mary (Zartman) Neidhardt of Hicksville. On May 23, 1986, he married Ruby J. Elliott, who survives in Payne.
Mr. Neidhardt, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, was a self-employed truck driver.

Sons — James (Tonya) Neidhardt, Brent (Marsha) Neidhardt and Tom (Mandy) Neidhardt, all of Hicksville
Daughters — Jenny (Mike) Sanderson of Galloway and Susan (Tom) Springer of Bellevue, Neb.
Sisters — Kathy (David) Schooley of Hicksville, Susan (Roger) Eagleson of Paulding and Lisa (Tom) Turnbull of Bryan
Maternal grandmother — Floetta M. Newland of Hicksville
Nine grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers, Harry E. Zartman and Murel Newland, paternal grandparents, Earl L. and Hazel L. Neidhardt, and a nephew, Rich Sowers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. (EDT) Saturday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, the Rev. Dave Dignal officiating. Burial will be in Cooper Cemetery, Paulding, with
military graveside services conducted by American Legion Post 223 of Hicksville.
