Dr. James F. Claypool
(February 26, 1926 - November 5, 2011)

Dr. James Frank Claypool, 85, of Akron, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dr. Frank and Olive Claypool of Akron; and his sister Nancy Long of Streetsboro.
Dr. Claypool is survived by his wife Patricia T. Claypool; daughter Pam Cook and her husband Chad and their children Sean, Marybeth and Garrett and great-grandson Cayson; son Jim Claypool and his wife Maryellen and their children Karen, Jimmy and Charlotte; brother-in-law Dave Towell and wife Ann; and Helen Conway his dental assistant for over 40 years.
Dr. Claypool was a life resident of Akron, he practiced dentistry in Endodontics and Periodontics Specialties for 47 years.
He was a graduate of Case Western Reserve and Northwestern University.
Dr. Claypool also taught graduate programs at Ohio State and served as president of the Akron Dental Society and the Ohio Dental Association.
Dr. Claypool participated in many civic organizations, he was especially proud of his 56 year association with golf tournaments at Firestone Country Club.
He was an accomplished golfer and student of the game.
He enjoyed helping people and giving back to his profession.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ohio Dental Association “Claypool Fund”, 1370 Dublin Rd, Columbus, OH 43215.
The Claypool Fund helps support dental students education with financial assistance.
A Memorial Mass will take place at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 476 Mull Ave, Akron.
A private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.

MARK A. GARMAN
(June 6, 1951 - March 18, 2010)

MARK A. GARMAN, beloved husband of Peggy (nee Nugent) father of Andrea Cox (Wade) and Jessica (Scott Arlin Jr.); grandfather of Wade, Kalyn and Evan; son of the late Donald and Frances (nee Barendt); uncle and great uncle of many; passed away unexpectedly March 18, 2010.
Funeral Service Saturday March 20 at 12 Noon in the CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME 4420 ROCKY RIVER DRIVE AT PURITAS WHERE FRIENDS MAY CALL FRIDAY 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Interment Strongsville Cemetery.

Joshua Robert Prose
(October 24, 1979 - February 18, 2011)

Joshua Robert Prose, 31 of West Portsmouth, died Friday February 18, 2011 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
He was born October 24, 1979 in Portsmouth to Robert Frances and Judith Loretta Howard Prose of West Portsmouth.
Along with his parents Josh is survived by his wife Stephanie Lynn Harr Prose who he married April 24, 2006, 3 stepchildren; Michael Norman Cottrell Jr., Matthew Nicholas Cottrell and Megan Nicole Cottrell, a brother, Mickey (Patsy) Prose of Lucasville, 3 sisters; Robin (Greg) Timberlake of West Portsmouth, Tammy (Danny) Wheelersburg of McDermott and Stephanie (Randy) Callihan of West Portsmouth, 13 nieces and nephews; Zach Davis, Erika Ward, Luke Bricker, Kati Hall, Dillon Timberlake, Harrison Prose, Caralea Wheelersburg, Braxton Callihan, Travis Prose, Sydni Callihan, Maria Prose, Mindy Grooms and Eli Brown along with several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday February 24, 2011 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Don Ellis officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Wednesday and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Boone Coleman
(January 4, 1934 - February 4, 2011)

Boone Coleman, 77, of West Portsmouth, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011 in Bradenton, FL.. He was born Jan. 4, 1934 to the late Clay and Gaynelle Coleman of West Portsmouth.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin Coleman and Bill Coleman, both of West Portsmouth.
Boone was the owner of Boone Coleman Construction which he began in 1957 and Portsmouth Raceway Park which he opened in 1990.
Boone attended Nauvoo United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Ohio Contractors Association, the Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and was a long time member of Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department.
He was active with numerous organizations including the Washington-Nile Local Schools, the Boy Scouts of America, Shawnee State University, Portsmouth River Days Committee, Scioto County Junior Fair Livestock Auction, KIA-MIA Foundation of Scioto County, Elks Country Club, and the Earl Thomas Conley Scholarship Fund.
He dedicated his life to job creation, community service, and supporting many causes that promoted the betterment of children in our area.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Bradshaw Coleman; a son, Tim (Jenny) Coleman of West Portsmouth; two daughters, Karen Coleman and Trish (Jerry) Pickelsimer of West Portsmouth; brothers Robert (Jan) Coleman of Bradenton, Fla, Doug (Cathy) Coleman of West Portsmouth, Russell (Barbara) Coleman of West Portsmouth, and Larry (Pat) Coleman of West Portsmouth; sisters Delores (Tom) Book of Lawrenceville, Ga, and Maxine (Harry) Cassidy of West Portsmouth; grandchildren J.P. (Mindy) Pickelsimer, Jayson (Kristi) Coleman, Crystal (Mike) Adkins, Candy (Andrew) Shonkwiler, Ashley (Eric) Mowery, Taylor Keen, Victoria Keen, and Shelby Coleman, all of West Portsmouth; great-grandchildren Kayleigh and Brody Coleman, Abby and Braden Adkins, Kaylor and Levi Pickelsimer, and Gunnar Boone Shonkwiler; and many special and beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday February 10, 2011 at Nauvoo United Methodist Church in West Portsmouth with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nauvoo United Methodist Scholarship Fund at 1503 5th Street in West Portsmouth or to the Boone Coleman Children's Fund at Wesbanco.

Hazel Mildred Gillum
(May 4, 1915 - February 23, 2011)

Hazel Mildred Gillum, 95 of West Portsmouth died Wednesday February 23, 2011 at Golden Years Convalescent Center.
She was born May 4, 1915 in West Portsmouth to the late Charles and Stella Henderson Malone.
She was a homemaker and a member of Oldtown United Methodist Church in West Portsmouth.
Along with her parents Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Carl Gillum who she married on July 26, 1941 at Friendship United Methodist Church and two brothers; Robert and Lawrence Malone
Hazel is survived by a nephew Lawrence Malone of Minford and a cousin Mary Lou Coleman of West Portsmouth.
Funeral Services will be 6:00 PM Saturday February 26, 2011 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Rick Ratliff officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday starting at 4:00 PM.

Kathleen Carol Walker
(June 7, 1926 - February 24, 2011)

Kathleen Carol Walker, 84, of Gibsonburg, died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
She was born on June 7, 1926 to Edward and Nettie (Hineman) Streiffert. Kathleen was a 1944 Elmore High School graduate; she furthered her education at Tiffin University Business School.
Kathleen worked for Wright Patterson Air Base, Dayton, as a clerk, stenographer and secretary for lieutenants & generals.
Upon the end of the war, she returned home to work for Brostwick-Braun in Toledo, as the secretary for the President of the company.
On October 15, 1949 she married Vernis C. Walker at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Elmore.
Kathleen was known as a homemaker and collector of many things.
Surviving are her daughter, Carol Walker of Toledo and brother Glenn Streiffert of Maumee.
She is preceded in death by her husband and brother Wesley Streiffert.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 10 - 11a.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Blair Miller officiating.
Burial will be at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.

DeWilton “De” W. Genzman
(April 5, 1937 - March 2, 2011)

DeWilton “De” W. Genzman, 73, of Fremont, died early Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 5, 1937 in Oak Harbor, OH to Leonard and Lucille (Bolay) Genzman. De attended Oak Harbor schools.
On November 28, 1959 he married Marilyn Hasselbach at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor and she survives.
He started De’s LP Gas in 1973 and was the owner/operator of the business until retiring in 1998.
De was involved in racing all of his life and was inducted into the 2010 Fremont Racing Hall of Fame.
De enjoyed spending time with his family and being in North Carolina.
De was a member of the Coon Creek Club.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children, Andy (Nan) Genzman and Lisa Genzman both of Fremont; his grandchildren who he loved very much, Derek, Dylan, Alexia & Dayne Genzman; and sister, Arlene Sandwisch of Oak Harbor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 1-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont.
Services will be on Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. with an additional hour of visitation at church prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fremont Racing Hall of Fame or to Heartland Hospice in De’s memory.
