Ross J. 'Bud' Campana

Ross J. 'Bud' Campana, 75 years young passed away suddenly at his residence in Ocala Florida on November 28th. He was with North Dover Hardware in Westlake, Ohio and later became a salesman in the electrical industry from which he retired in 1990. Bud was a native of Westlake, Ohio and most recently resided in Ocala, Florida for the fall/winter seasons and Port Clinton, Ohio for the spring/summer seasons. He was a Westlake Volunteer Fireman for 32 years and a member of Olmsted Falls/Berea Masonic Lodge. Bud was also a member of the Westlake Sportsmens Club, American Legion and VFW. He was also involved with CERT (Citizens Emergency Reserve Team) and the Anglers Fishing Club along with many other clubs and organizations in Ocala, Florida. Survivors include his wife Patricia A. Campana, His son Tom M. Campana of Avon, Ohio, daughter Jean M. Campna of Columbus, Ohio. Also surviving is his brother William J. Campana of Westlake, Ohio. Jenkins Funeral Chapel coordinated with Heirs Funeral Home of Ocala, Florida for the cremation. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday December 15th at 2:00pm at Dover Congregational United Church of Christ, 2239 Dover Center Road, Westlake, Ohio. The Memorial Service will be conducted by Rev. J. Scott Patterson. Interment Holy Cross cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to your favorite charity. Mr. Douglas was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and came to Cleveland as a young man. He retired from Midland Steel after more than 40 years of employment. He often related how as a young boy he had seen 'Buffalo' Bill Cody's Wild West Show with Annie Oakley. The family related about the numerous events Mr. Douglas saw during his life spanning two centuries. The first flight by Lindburg, the number of presidents and the number of wars that this country fought in.

Mr. Edwards 'Lew' was a retired assistant managing editor with the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He was past president of the Society of Professional Journalists Cleveland Chapter, mentoring young journalists in the newsroom and the classroom. Lew after retiring from the Plain Dealer in 1973 taught journalism at Kent State University for three years. Since the 1970's he wrote for the Greater Cleveland Chapter of American Red Cross publications and at the age of 88 reached the 3-gallon mark. After graduating from Indiana University in 1927 a native of Bloomfield, Indiana he worked for the Indianapolis Star and ten years later joined the Plain Dealer as a copy editor. He held various high-ranking editing positions before becoming asisstant managing editor in 1971. Former colleagues described him as the newsroom expert on matters of style, both in his meticulous use of the English Language and in his dapper personal appearance which always included a suit and a tie in the office.
