Jeffrey Philip Youtz
Died: Friday, May 11, 2001

Jeffrey Philip Charles Youtz, 46, of Urbana, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon, May 11, 2001, in his residence.

He was born in Canton, Ohio, Sept. 24, 1954, the son of Virgil L. and Phyllis A. (Smith) Youtz.

He was a graduate of Graham High School and Wright State University, receiving a B.A. in Liberal Arts. He had worked for Chi-Vit for two years and had previously worked as a buyer for T.G.I. Friday's for 15 years. Jeff was an avid antique radio collector and reader. He will be remembered for his generosity and was dearly loved by his family and friends. He is survived by his parents, of Urbana; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Larry Larrimer, of Centerville, Ohio, Janet and Ron Fullmer, of Lakewood, Colo., and Marcy Youtz and David Henning, of Troy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Sandy Youtz, of Rosewood, and Mark and Donna Youtz, of Troy; eight nephews; three nieces; and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Philip and Cora Smith and Charles and Alice Youtz; an infant sister; and a niece, Heather Youtz, in 1988.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, with Rev. Norman Wright of Urbana United Methodist Church and Rev. William Turner officiating. Burial will be in Terre Haute cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons or the church or charity of your choice.

Jeremy Lopez
Died: Friday, July 20, 2001

Jeremy D. Lopez, 25, of Urbana, died suddenly Friday, July 20, 2001, in Dayton.

He was born July 29, 1975 in La Marada, Calif.

Jeremy was a student at Wright State University, where he was very involved in student activities, crisis intervention, and was a resident adviser.

Survivors include his parents, Sergio and Ethelwyn Lopez of Urbana; two brothers, Mark D. Lopez of Dayton and Brian S. Lopez of Urbana; two sisters, Lisa K. Lopez of Urbana and Jaime J. Lopez of California; grandparents, Ethelwyn and Durrell Davison of Ft. St. John, British Columbia, Canada, and Rosalia Lopez of California.

He was preceded in death by grandfather, Augusto Lopez.

Family and friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Mechanicsburg Christian Fellowship Church, 4401 Allison Road (between State Route 29 and State Route 4), Mechanicsburg, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Linden Good officiating.

Final disposition will be at the convenience of the family, which is being served by SKILLMAN-MCDONALD FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg.

Clara Wolfe
Died: Friday, July 20, 2001

Clara J. Wolfe, 92, of Winter Haven, Fla., died July 20, 2001, in her son Dale's residence in Marengo, Ohio.

She was born April 5, 1909 in Parkersburg, W.Va., the daughter of David and Tillie (Drum) McDonald. A homemaker, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold in November 2000.

She resided in Marietta most of her life and was a member of the Marietta Moose No. 1823 Auxiliary, the Marietta Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 458 and the V.F.W. Auxiliary No. 4289 of Winter Haven.

She is survived by her sons, Dale (Sharon) Mircle of Marengo and Robert (Flo) Mircle of Lancaster, Calif., and their families.

Burial will be in New Matamoras, Ohio, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the WALTER-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana.

Glenn Lutzweit
Died: Thursday, July 19, 2001

Glenn Lutzweit, age 63, of Riverside, Ohio, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2001, in his residence.

He was born May 1, 1938, in Dayton, the son of the late Walter and Glendora (Wolf) Lutzweit.

He was employed as a program analyst with Defense Electronics Supply Center, Dayton, retiring in 1993.

He was a member of the St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry.

Mr. Lutzweit is survived by a son, David of Springfield, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Mitch Daniel of Lewisburg, Ohio, and Nancy and Jeff Francis of Columbia, S.C.; and five grandchildren, Jacob Glenn, James Paul, Benjamin, Eric and Wesley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann, in 1998 and a brother, Thomas O'Dell.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the BELTON FUNERAL HOME, Fairborn.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday at 6 p.m. in the St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 456 Woodman Drive, Dayton, with the Rev. Michael Kreutzer officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Oakdale cemetery at Urbana, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mark's Episcopal Church.

Viola Holeton
Died: Wednesday, July 18, 2001

Viola M. Holeton, 81, of Piqua, Ohio, formerly of St. Paris, died at 7:56 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2001, in Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.

She was born in Champaign County, Ohio, on March 7, 1920, to Luther G. Beaty and Lillie F. (Applegate) Beaty, both deceased.

A 1939 graduate of St. Paris High School, she retired in 1982 from Grimes Plastic Research Products, Urbana. She was a member of the Myrtle Tree Baptist Church, St. Paris.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen Holeton, of Piqua; two sons, Richard K. (Cinda) Mills, of Urbana, and Harold E. Mills, of Piqua; three granddaughters; one stepgranddaughter; one stepgrandson; six great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent G. Holeton, who she married on Aug. 4, 1951, and who died on June 27, 1993; one brother, Walter Beaty; and one great-granddaughter, Adrian Tobias.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001, in the RICHESON-WICKHAM AND ATKINS FUNERAL HOME, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, with Pastor Floyd Dallis officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, St. Paris. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2001, in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Saturday, July 21, 2001.

Memorial contributions may be made to Myrtle Tree Baptist Church, 7020 W. U.S. Highway 36, St. Paris, Ohio 43072. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Charles Sharp
Died: Wednesday, July 18, 2001

Charles W. Sharp, 88, died July 18, 2001, at his home in West Liberty.

He was born Jan. 10, 1913, in East Liberty, Ohio, to William and Elva (Jackson) Sharp.

A brother, Lester, preceded him in death. He was married Nov. 16, 1933, to Gladys Yarrington Sharp, who died in 1988.

Survivors include four daughters, Florence (Carl) Yoder, of West Liberty, Ohio, Phyllis (George) Neal, of Hampton, Va., Rebecca (Merle) Sommers, of Sarasota, Fla., and Esther (Dale) Armstrong-Stitt, of Portland, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sharp had many years of involvement with the West Liberty Businessmen, West Liberty Emergency Squad, Trustee at Greenhills Center, member of the Tri-County Home Builders, Logan County Farm Bureau, Buckeye Polled Hereford Association, Logan County Youth Board and Cal Farley's Boys Ranch.

He had been an active member of the United Church of Christ in West Liberty, where he served as deacon for many years. He graduated from the East Liberty High School. Mr. Sharp had been a lifelong resident of Logan County, where he had been a car salesman, real estate broker of 48 years and a farmer.

Visitations will be Monday, July 23 from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. at KAUFFMAN-EICHHOLTZ FUNERAL HOME, in West Liberty. A memorial service will be on Tuesday, July 24 at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ, West Liberty. Rev. Ned Michael will officiate.

Memorial contributions are requested for the West Liberty Emergency Squad.

James Spencer
Died: Wednesday, July 18, 2001

James R. Spencer, 36, of Urbana, died Wednesday afternoon in Springfield, the result of an automobile accident.

He was born March 14, 1965, in Montgomery County, Ohio, the son of Randall and Gladys (Talbert) Spencer.

James graduated from West Liberty-Salem High School in 1983, Wilmington College Cum Laude in 1987, and University of Dayton Graduate work in Mathematics in 1988. He was an Associate Actuary at Nationwide Insurance, also employed at Computer Free America, and was presently employed at Systemax in Computer Technical Support. James' honors included State Farmer in Future Farmers of America and won Grand Champion Lamb at the 1980 Champaign County Fair. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Urbana.

His survivors include his mother, of Urbana; his wife, Angela (Hall) Spencer, whom he married Nov. 27, 1999; three daughters, Sarah, Hannah, and Emily Mitchell, all at home; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Diane and Bill Kremer, of Urbana, Laura Roach, of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, John Spencer, of Urbana; numerous aunts and uncles, including Elwood and Phyllis Jordan, Evelyn Spencer, all of New Paris, Ohio, Dick and Claire Talbert, of Cleveland, Jerry and Elizabeth Anderson, of St. Paris; several nieces and nephews, including Joe and Tom Kremer; several cousins; grandmother, Virginia Kunkel, of St. Paris; parents-in-law, Richard and Claudia Hall, of Urbana; and two brothers-in-law and their wives, Brian and Amy Hall, Michael and Shannon Hall, all of St. Paris.

He was preceded in death by his father on Oct. 4, 1996.

A gathering of family and friends will be held in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Sunday from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Joseph D. Fortna and Rev. Tim J. West officiating. Burial will be in Terre Haute cemetery.

Herbert Powell
Died: Tuesday, July 17, 2001

Herbert R. Powell, 73, of Zanesville, Ohio, died at 7:49 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.

Born Jan. 4, 1928, in Terre Haute, Ohio, he was a retired teacher from Grover Cleveland School, Zanesville City School System, from 1963 to 1989. He received a bachelor's degree from Wittenberg University in social studies and a master's degree from Eastern Kentucky University in geography. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Marine Corps and member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Central Ohio Orchid Society.

Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Shipps Powell, whom he married June 27, 1965; two sons, Stuart Powell, of Zanesville, and Kevin Powell, of Shelbyville, Ky.; three brothers, Bernard Powell, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Floyd Powell, of New Miami, and James Powell, of Urbana; three sisters, Virginia Dannaker, of New Paris, Thelma Loffing, of Urbana, and Janet Geiger, of Urbana; two halfsisters, Nellie Nolte, Urbana, and Faith "Pat" Jeffers, of California; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Edna Evilsizor Powell; first wife, Marjorie Glenn Powell; an infant daughter; brothers, Kenneth and Homer Powell; halfbrothers, Richard and Glennard Powell; halfsisters, Florence Davis and Goldie Stone.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2001, at BRYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2318 Maple Ave., Zanesville, Ohio 43701. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2001, at the funeral home, with Pastor Larry Kudart officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Falls, Ohio, cemetery, with the VFW holding service at graveside.

Robert Diehl
Died: Monday, July 16, 2001

Robert J. Diehl, 47, passed away at 5:09 p.m. July 16, 2001, at Grant Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 18, 1953, in Urbana, to William and Lucille (Caton) Diehl.

He was a native of Urbana, Ohio, and a graduate of Urbana High School. He had 12 years of sobriety. Many of these years were spent as a drug and alcohol counselor, where he helped many clients overcome the same addictions that plagued him for so many years. Bob was a creative machinist, talented pyrotechnician. He was employed at Mary Haven, Columbus, Ohio.

He will be sadly missed by his dear mother and stepfather, Bunny Caton and Homer Baker, of Urbana, Ohio; his loving wife, Gayle (Evans) Diehl, formerly of West Liberty, Ohio; beloved daughter and husband, Amy (James) Todhunter, Amy's mother, Diane Diehl, all of North Lewisburg, Ohio; devoted siblings, William "Bill" Diehl II, of Urbana, Ohio, Beth McKeever (Diehl), of Centerville, Ohio, and their significant others, Angie and Mark; three nephews, Brett McKeever, Nathan and Andy Diehl; and his cherished cat, Lollipop.

Preceded in death by his father, William Diehl, in 1994.

He was a member of St. Mary Church, 231 Washington Ave., Urbana, Ohio.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 19, 2001, from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the WALTER-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 20, 2001, at 11 a.m., with Fr. Gregory Kornerman officiant. Burial will be in Oak Dale cemetery. Robert Diehl
Died: Monday, July 16, 2001

Funeral services were held Friday, July 20, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Urbana, Ohio, for Robert John Diehl, 47, who died Monday, July 16, 2001, in Grant Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. Father Gregory Konerman officiated. Pallbearers were James Todhunter, Bret McKeever, Bill McKeever, Curtis Biggs, Mark Loos, Brad Landers and Nick Parlapiano. WALTER-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lula Roush Martin
Died: Wednesday, June 27, 2001

Mrs. Lula M. Roush Martin, 84, died Wednesday evening at Wellington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.

Born Feb. 11, 1917, in Champaign County, she was the daughter of Charles W. and Lula M. Creeks Roush.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Charles W. III and Walter Raymond Roush.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard D. Martin, of Urbana; another son, Stephen R. Martin, of Burbank, Calif.; a niece, Mrs. Andrea Jakomas, and two nephews, James Roush and Charles W. Roush IV, of Florida; a special younger friend, Ms. Jessica M. Jacobs, of Bloomingburg, Ohio; and several distant cousins.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Urbana and was retired from the Grimes Manufacturing Company.

Memorial services are being arranged by THE WALTER SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL SERVICE and will be announced at the convenience of the family. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to P.A.W.S. Animal Shelter, 1535 W. U.S. Route 36, Urbana, Ohio 43078.
