Norman Kenneth Adams Sr.
Died: Wednesday, May 30, 2001

Norman Kenneth Adams Sr., 95, of Silver Spring, Maryland, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at 12:25 a.m. at Woodside Center in Silver Spring, Maryland.

He was born July 21, 1905, to Isaac "Frank" and Margaret Geneva Thompson Adams.

He is survived by his two children, Norman K. Adams Jr. and Gwendolyn A. Clement; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be Saturday, June 2, 2001 at the Brookland Union Baptist Church, 3101 14th St. N.E., Washington, D.C. with Rev. Dr. Joseph Fobbs officiating. Interment will be in Ft. Lincoln cemetery, Brentwood, Maryland.

Marie Raber
Died: Friday, June 8, 2001

Marie R. Raber, 85, of Springfield, died Friday, June 8, 2001 in the Wellington Nursing Home, Urbana.

Marie was born June 7, 1916, in Louisa, Ky., the daughter of Winfield and Gracie (Edwards) Castle.

Marie was a member of Victory Faith Church.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Paul Dunham of Urbana; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Joyce Raber of Springfield; two sisters, Naomi Shannon and Louise McKellop, both of Urbana; brother Scott Castle of Columbus; three grandchildren, Wanda (Gary) Jones of Urbana, Cindy Raber of Long Beach, N.Y., and Jeff (Beth) Raber of Mechanicsburg; great-grandchildren Jamie and Shelby Jones, Amanda and Allison Raber and Matthew Dunham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son William Edwin Raber, sister Kay Beloat, and grandson Danny Dunham.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Oak Dale cemetery in Urbana with Pastor Charles Sandlin of Victory Faith Church officiating.

Emery Heminger
Died: Wednesday, June 6, 2001

Emery Milton Heminger, 86, of West Liberty, died June 6, 2001, at 11:30 p.m. in Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.

He was born Dec. 26, 1914, in Washington Township in Logan County, Ohio, the son of the late Ernest Stewart and Mary Helen Cooper Heminger.

He is survived by sons Phillip D. (Ruth) Heminger of Melbourne, Fla., and Floyd Lee (Marylou) Frost of Bellefontaine; daughters Darlene Donovan of Garden Valley, Idaho, Brenda Huffman of Bellefontaine, and Pamela (Ron) Cochran of West Liberty; brother E.S. (Josephine) Heminger Jr. of Belle Center; sisters Helen Brazier of Indiana, Alleen (Frank) Stewart of Lakeview, Darethea Brown of Lewistown and Betty (Carl) Lilliard of Pioneer; numerous grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Martha Marie Roush Heminger, whom he married in 1938, on Feb. 17, 1956; his second wife, Betty Jane Deere Heminger, whom he married in June of 1957, on Sept. 21, 1981; son Raymond A. Frost; brother Lawrence Heminger; and sister Virginia Parr.

Heminger was a farmer and independent trucker for Craig Elevator for many years. He was a member of the West Liberty Methodist Church and the Mad River Masonic Lodge No. 161.

Funeral will be held on Monday, June 11, in the EICHOLTZ FUNERAL HOME in Bellefontaine at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Smalley officiating. Interment will be at Fairview cemetery in West Liberty.

Family and friends can call on Sunday, June 10, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Vickey Kimball
Died: Wednesday, June 6, 2001

Vicky Lynn Kimball, 54, of 1110 Kimball Road, West Liberty, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at 11:55 p.m. at her residence.

She was born March 17, 1947 in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Her parents are Marvin Wilgus of Pasco, Ohio and Marie Siegenthaler Hartzler of Bellefontaine.

She married Richard Y. Kimball, of West Liberty, Feb. 22, 1969 in DeGraff.

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are: her sons, Chad David Kimball of Dayton and Matthew N. Kimball of West Liberty; step-mother, Betty Wilgus of Pasco; sisters, Marlene Elliott of Xenia and Sue Holycross of DeGraff; step-brothers, Max Hartzler of West Liberty, Chuck Wooddell of Sidney, Bob Wooddell of Sidney and Terry Wooddell of Bellefontaine; and grandchildren Megan and Casey Kimball.

Mrs. Kimball was Green Hills activity director for 15 years.

She was an active member of Kingscreek United Methodist Church where she was editor of the newsletter and secretary of the board. She was also a member of Green Hills Auxiliary and Logan County & West Liberty Historical Society. She was a 1965 Riverside High School graduate.

Funeral services will be conducted at Kingscreek United Methodist Church, West Liberty, June 11, 2001 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Nancy Raypholtz. Interment will be in Mt. Tabor cemetery, Champaign County.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday, June 11.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Champaign County Cancer Society, TriCare Hospice and Kingscreek United Methodist Church.

Donald Mcintosh
Died: Wednesday, June 6, 2001

Donald B. "Fish" McIntosh, 73, of Urbana died Wednesday morning, June 6, 2001, in Madison County Hospital.

He was born Nov. 1, 1927, in Martins Ferry, the son of O.E. McIntosh and Mary (Hayslip) McIntosh.

Mr. McIntosh was a retired laborer.

His survivors include his daughter, Brenda J. Emch of Brandon, Fla.; three sons, Donald E. McIntosh of Sherrodville, Hubert W. McIntosh of Urbana, and Randy D. McIntosh of Mascotte, Fla.; two sisters, Hazel Toy of Pickerington and Donna Owens of Whitehall; a brother, Raymond McIntosh of Canton; seven grandchildren, Brian, John, Connie, Anna, Andrea, David and Christopher; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlen, Alexis, Blaze and Tytan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean McIntosh, in March 1970.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, who is being served by the LITTLETON AND RUE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Condolences to the family can be expressed through www.littletonandrue.com

Nola Wiese
Died: Wednesday, June 6, 2001

Nola S. Wiese, 84, of Columbus, died June 6, 2001.

She was born March 4, 1917 in Pretoria, South Africa. She was a member of Columbus Country Club and former chairman of Venice Orchid Society, Venice, Florida, and Sarasota Orchid Society, Sarasota, Florida.

She is survived by her children, Michael L. (Glenda) Walker of LaLucia, South Africa, Donald G. (Jean) Walker of Lancaster, Ohio, Elizabeth (Russell T.) Bundy, Bruce J. (Sandra) Walker and Ray C. Walker, all of Columbus; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Heini E. Wiese.

Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Service will be held at Central College Presbyterian Church, 975 S. Sunbury Road, Westerville, on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Dr. Richard Ellsworth officiating.

Contributions may be given to the Arthritis Foundation, 3740 Ridge Mill Drive, Hilliard, Ohio 43026.

Viola Instine
Died: Tuesday, June 5, 2001

Viola M. Instine, 72, of 2361 State Route 507, West Liberty, Ohio, died June 5, 2001 at 12:45 a.m. in her residence.

She was born March 29, 1929 in Champaign County, Ohio, the daughter of Ira L. and Una Vera Kaiser Brunke, both deceased. She married Zeldon D. Instine in February 1950 in Champaign County, Ohio. He died in November 1980. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by sons Bill L. Instine of West Liberty, Ohio, and Bob E. (Becky) Instine of West Liberty, Ohio; daughter Vera J. (Bob) Peters of West Liberty, Ohio; sister Grace Marker of Bellefontaine, Ohio; sisters-in-law Maxine and Janet Brunke of Bellefontaine, Ohio; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Joyce Ann Instine; five brothers and one sister.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on June 8, 2001 at EICHHOLTZ FUNERAL HOME, Bellefontaine, Ohio with Rev. Rob Fulton officiating. Burial will be in Concord cemetery in Urbana, Ohio.

Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 7 at the funeral home in Bellefontaine.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tri-Care Hospice.

Virginia Fleming
Died: Monday, June 4, 2001

Virginia M. Fleming, 74, of Mechanicsburg passed away Monday, June 4 in McAuley Center, Urbana. She was born May 29, 1927 in Mechanicsburg, the daughter of the late Theron and Viola (Venrick) Corbett.

Virginia was a past writer and columnist for the Mechanicsburg Telegram, a member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church, and Sunday school teacher. She loved to write poetry, loved traveling and lighthouses.

Survivors include husband Kermit Fleming, whom she married December 12, 1948; three sons, Ray (Sherry) Fleming of Marysville, Kevin (Kathy) Fleming of Kingston, Ark., and Roger (Sandy) Fleming of Niles, Mich.; daughter Judy (Kent) Tullis of Urbana; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary (Sam) Boggs of Mechanicsburg.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church, will the Rev. Larry Poling officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove cemetery. Family and friends may call 12 p.m.-2 p.m. Friday in the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church. The family is being served by the SKILLMAN-MCDONALD FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg.

Laura Markin
Died: Monday, June 4, 2001

Laura Evelyn Watkins Markin, 77, of 8043 Co. Road 13, DeGraff, died Monday, June 4, 2001 at her residence in DeGraff at 2:19 a.m.

She was born in Mingo on Dec. 16, 1923 the daughter of Blaine and Mary Johnson Watkins.

She married George William Markin on June 26, 1942 in Covington, Ky., and he preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1999.

Mrs. Watkins was a member of Mt. Tabor Church of God. She and her husband were care takers of Mt. Tabor Church of God for 17 years.

She is survived by: two sons and daughters-in-law, Russell E. and Peggy Markin of Cable, and Gary and Karen Markin of Cable; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Ronald Smith of Jackson, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence and Mary Watkins of Mingo, Harvey and Peggy Watkins of St. Marys, Charles and Ruth Watkins of Urbana and John and Shirley of Upper Sandusky; a sister, Elsie Spence of Marysville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Josephine and Wesley Metz of Waldo and Eva and Charles Johnson of North Lewisburg; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by four brothers: Jake (Eva) Watkins of Mingo, James (Dora) Watkins of West Liberty, Ray (Opaline) Watkins of Bellefontaine and Roger Watkins.

The family will receive friends at the REXER-RIGGIN-MADDEN FUNERAL HOME in DeGraff on Wednesday, June 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at Mt. Tabor Church of God at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2001 with pastor Kerry Snapp officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville cemetery, Huntsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tricare Hospice.

William Wynn
Died: Monday, June 4, 2001

William "Wedge" Wynn, 79, of Woodstock, passed away Monday, June 4, 2001.

He was born Oct. 10, 1921 in Mechanicsburg, the son of the late William S. and Anna (Anderson) Wynn. Wedge retired from Miller Excavating as a heavy equipment operator. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, and loved to work in the garage workshop.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Virginia Thornhill Wynn, whom he married July 22, 1944; six daughters, Pam (Bruce) Derr of Urbana, Jennifer Papst of North Lewisburg, Delilah Nance of Wet Liberty, Sheila (Darrell) Ruby of Cable, Cindy Knotts of Woodstock and friend Mark Reif, Teresa (Dave) Duncan of Mechanicsburg; four sons, William D. (Karen) Wynn, Keith (Jackie) Wynn, all of Woodstock, Bruce (Tammy) Wynn of North Lewisburg, Jeff (Robin) Wynn of Cable; 29 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters Sharon Jackson and Amy Wynn; son Gary Allen Wynn; granddaughter Christy Knotts; grandson Timothy Wynn; two great-grandsons, Dylan Brayton and Jason Helms; five sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the SKILLMAN-MCDONALD FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg where family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow in Woodstock cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Champaign County Fire District Emergency Medical Services. The pallbearers will be William, Keith, Bruce, and Jeff Wynn, Andy Nance and Mark Reif.

Max "Mick" King
Died: Tuesday, June 12, 2001

Max "Mick" R. King, 61, of 14999 Bellpoint Road, Ostrander, Ohio died on June 12, 2001, at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

A funeral service will be held at KAUFFMAN-EICHHOLTZ FUNERAL HOME in West Liberty, Ohio at 11 a.m. on June 16, 2001, with Rev. Ned A. Michael officiating. Burial will be in Millcreek cemetery in Watkins, Ohio.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2001, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the West Liberty Lions Club.
