Ruth L. Clark, 83, of 130 S. Dugan Road, Urbana, Ohio, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at 10:15 a.m. in Heartland of Urbana.
She was born June 18, 1917, in Springfield, Ohio, to Clarence and Silvia (Anderson) Waldron.
She was a homemaker.
Survived by her children, Horace Baker, of Clarksville, Tenn., Delores Douglas, of Columbus, Linda Nutt, of Cable, Ohio, Rosetta Schwerking, of Huntsville, Bonnie Lee, of Woodstock, Esther Brown, of Mechanicsburg; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2001, in Woodstock cemetery, with Pastor Tom Showalter officiating. Arrangements by the WALTER-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, Ohio.
Martha Valore
Died: Saturday, April 14, 2001
Martha J. Valore, 63, of 4891 E. U.S. Route 36, Urbana, Ohio, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at 11:30 a.m. in her residence.
She was born in Zanesville, Ohio, on Jan. 16, 1938, to Gordon and Martha (Henderson) Lewis.
She was a homemaker and a former school teacher.
She is survived by her loving family, husband of 40 years, Joseph P. Valore, children, Peter Valore, of Powell, Ohio, Jane (Nicholas) Reyer, of Hilliard, Ohio, Ellen (Joseph) Moscato, of Dublin, Ohio, and Mark (Patricia) Valore, of Toledo, Ohio, mother, Martha E. Lewis, of Worthington, Ohio, grandchildren, Olivia Reyer, Maria and Frank Moscato, brother, Thomas J. Lewis, of Columbus, sister, Mary (Nick) Mastrangelo, of Marysville, Calif.
Preceded in death by father, Gordon Lewis.
She was a graduate of Ohio Northern University. She served on the United Way and was a volunteer at Mercy Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Urbana Garden Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Urbana.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday in the Walter-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, Ohio. Funeral service will be held in the First Presbyterian Church of Urbana, 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Friends may if they wish contribute to the church or the Cancer Association of Champaign County in her memory.
William Wynn
Died: Monday, June 4, 2001
William Wedge Wynn, 79, of Cable, passed away Monday, June 4, 2001.
He was born Oct. 10, 1921 in Mechanicsburg, the son of the late William S. and Anna (Anderson) Wynn. Wedge retired from Miller Excavating as a heavy equipment operator. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and loved to work in the garage workshop.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Virginia Thornhill Wynn, whom he married
July 22, 1944; six daughters, Pam (Bruce) Derr of Urbana, Jennifer Papst of North Lewisburg, Delilah Nance of West Liberty, Sheila (Darrell) Ruby of Cable, Cindy Knotts of Woodstock and friend Mark Reif, Teresa (Dave) Duncan of Mechanicsburg; four sons, William D. (Karen) Wynn, Keith (Jackie) Wynn, all of Woodstock, Bruce (Tammy) Wynn of North Lewisburg, Jeff (Robin) Wynn of Cable; 29 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters Sharon Jackson and Amy Wynn; son Gary Allen Wynn; granddaughter Christy Knotts; grandson Timothy Wynn; two great-grandsons, Dylan Brayton and Jason Helms; five sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the SKILLMAN-MCDONALD FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg where family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow in Woodstock cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Champaign County Fire District Emergency Medical Services. The pallbearers will be William, Keith, Bruce, and Jeff Wynn, Andy Nance, Mark Reif, Bruce Derr and Dave Duncan.
Jesse Anderson
Died: Sunday, June 3, 2001
Jesse P. Anderson, 76, of Columbus, was gently called home by our Father as he slept June 3, 2001.
A World War II veteran of the United States Navy, he retired from Highlights for Children in 1986 and returned to a part-time position he held until his death.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Anderson; a son and daughter-in-law, Kyle Brett and Kelli; grandchildren Avery and Darrian; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Jack Hagwood; loving grandchildren Brittany, Brian, and their mother Elizabeth Anderson; loving family of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews and mother-in-law; and special friends, the Mundy family, the Gischel family and the McMann family.
Family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at The MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High St., Columbus, Ohio (614) 444-1185. Services will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday with pastor Danny Van Scoy officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn cemetery.
Kay Rutan
Died: Sunday, June 3, 2001
Kay E. Rutan, 64, of Mechanicsburg, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at 9:15 a.m. in her residence after a difficult battle with cancer.
Kay was a proud and loving mother and grandmother.
She had retired as a bookkeeper and was a member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church.
She was born April 13, 1937, in Glouster, Ohio, the daughter of the late Paul and Helen (Juniper) Souders.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Roger Rutan, whom she married
Nov. 26, 1958, in Mechanicsburg; three children, Melissa (Joe) Nunamaker, Betsy Rutan, and Charles Roger Rutan Jr.; seven grandchildren, Jill Pletcher, Jerad and Jenny Nunamaker, Becky and Michael Rutan, Noah and Roseanna Rogers, all of Mechanicsburg; three sisters, Connie Smith, Nancy (J.D.) Wiant, both of Mechanicsburg, and Mary Ward of Urbana; and one brother, Randy (Lou) Souders of Urbana.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at SKILLMAN-McDONALD FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Larry Poling officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Joe and Jerad Nunamaker, Roger Rutan Jr., Randy Souders, Matt Titus and Dennis Rogers.
Norma Thomas
Died: Sunday, June 3, 2001
Norma Louise Thomas, 66, of North Lewisburg died Sunday, June 3, 2001 at her residence.
She was born March 23, 1935 in Urbana to Josephine (Whiteside) Robison of Urbana and the late Thaddeus Robison.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Marysville and a member of the North Lewisburg United Methodist Church.
She worked as an L.P.N. at Memorial Hospital of Union County for 22 years.
She is survived by a son, Dale E. Thomas of North Lewisburg; two granddaughters, Jessica Thomas and Catherine Kerns; two sisters, Doris Eileen Donahoe and Judith A. Horsley, both of Urbana; three brothers, Russell (Mary) Robison and Roger Robison, all of Urbana; Ralph (Connie) Robison of West Liberty; a special niece, Angie Bowshier; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Wilmer Wood. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2001 in Freshwater-McDonald Funeral Home, with Rev. Kurtis King officiating. Burial will follow the service in Maple Grove cemetery, North Lewisburg. Family and friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Alice Bodey
Died: Saturday, June 2, 2001
Alice M. Bodey, 79, of 830 Manier Ave., Piqua, died on Saturday, June 2, 2001, at 7:45 p.m. at the Upper Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Springfield on April 11, 1922, to the late Arthur and Gladys Toland Menz.
She married
Verl R. Bodey Sr., on Aug. 14, 1940, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1994.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Thomas A. and Carol L. Bodey of Sidney; two grandchildren, Stephen and Katie Bodey, both of Sidney; and one sister, Mrs. Rick (Ruth) Story of Springfield.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bodey was preceded in death by one son, Verl R. "Buddy" Bodey Jr. and one brother.
Mrs. Bodey attended the Potsdam Missionary Church and was a homemaker.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at 10 a.m. in the JAMIESON AND YANNUCCI FUNERAL HOME in Piqua with the Rev. Karl Yoder officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Rex Hecker Jr.
Died: Friday, June 1, 2001
Rex Allen "Ricky" Hecker, Jr., 24, of Mingo, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 30, 1976, the son of Rex Allen and Edna (Bingham) Hecker, Sr.
Ricky was a lover of fishing, hunting, animals and sports, and held a fishing membership at Appleseed Ridge Girls Scout Lake.
He was employed by Web Tress in Plain City, Ohio.
Ricky is survived by his parents, with whom he resided; brother, Philip Hecker and his fiance Amanda Allen; grandmothers, Marie Bingham and Barbara Hecker; aunts and uncles, Catherine Ogden of Russells Point, Sarah S. Cauley of Urbana, Lois and Mike Hecker of Springfield, Tina and Ron Anderson of Springfield, Elizabeth and Chris Seiford of Millerstown, Lisa and Jammie Whitman of Urbana, Erick and Karen Hecker of Kingscreek, Cheire Black of Urbana, Carol McCall of California, and Marilyn Craiser of Columbus; many cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Paul Bingham and Myron Hecker, and uncles, William "Bill" Bingham, Paul "Art" Bingham and Jim Ogden.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the LITTLETON AND RUE FUNERAL HOME, HIGHLAND CHAPEL, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Baugh of the House of Prayer, West Liberty, officiating. Burial will follow in Nettle Creek cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Division of Wildlife.
David Kerns
Died: Friday, June 1, 2001
David William Kerns, 56, of St. Paris, died suddenly on Friday, June 1, 2001, at 4:10 p.m. in his residence.
He was born April 28, 1944, in Urbana, the son of Harry William and Virginia (Twichell) Kerns.
Mr. Kerns was an employee of NK Parts in Sidney, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Loraine of St. Paris; his mother, Virginia T. Kerns of Urbana; sisters, Judy Kerns of San Anselmo, Calif, and Ellen Kerns Brown of Urbana; and other family and friends.
Preceding him in death was his father, Harry W. Kerns, in 1993.
Mr. Kerns was a member of St. Mary Church, Urbana, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. David Zink as celebrant.
The family will receive from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, in the WALTER-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana.
Burial will be in Oak Dale cemetery.
Robert Yoder
Died: Friday, June 1, 2001
Robert L. Yoder, 86, of Green Hills Center, West Liberty, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at 2:10 p.m. at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
He was born Aug. 21, 1914, in Champaign County, the son of the late Roy Vernon Yoder and Lulu Mae Harmon Yoder.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Williams Yoder, who died on Aug. 20, 1993. They were wed in West Liberty on Sept. 4, 1938.
He is survived by two sons, R. Michael Yoder of Columbus and Gary R. (Nancy) Yoder of North Lewisburg; three grandsons, Brian Yoder, Andy Yoder and Aaron Yoder; and one great-grandson, Alex Yoder.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sharon Yoder; brothers, Herbert L. Yoder and Donald Croft Yoder; and sisters, Mildred E. Yoder and Esther M. Yoder.
Mr. Yoder was co-owner of Yoder Brothers Market in West Liberty and a grocer at that location for over 50 years.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ in West Liberty. He graduated from West Liberty High School with the class of 1932. Mr. Yoder was an avid traveler, a fisherman and a successful mushroom hunter.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the KAUFFMAN-EICHHOLTZ FUNERAL HOME in West Liberty.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in West Liberty. The Rev. Ned Michael will officiate.
