Died: Sunday, July 22, 2001

Robert D. Davis, 64, of 6008 Moeller Road, Lot 768, Ft. Wayne, Ind., died at 10:17 p.m. July 22, 2001, at his residence. Funeral services will be held in the Hockemeyer-Miller Funeral Home, in Fort Wayne, at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2001. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a military graveside service in Highland Park cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Howard Millington
Died: Sunday, July 22, 2001

Howard G. Millington, 74, of Urbana, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, in Wellington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Urbana. He was born on July 7, 1927, in Ashtabula County, Ohio.

He was the son of Oren L. and Cora (Turner) Millington. He retired from International Harvester as a machine repair machinist. He was a member of the United States Trotting Association and the Ohio Harness Horsemen's Association. He was a horseman for many years, working with and owning many horses, his favorite horse being Margene Mister. For a man who had a humble beginning, he owned several businesses, even holding several patents.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Oren (Susan) Millington, of Urbana; daughters, Marcia K. Millington, of Springfield, and Georgia Diane (Sam) Teets, of Sidney; two sisters, Bertha Watson Keister, of Florida, and Frances DeBruyn, of Florida; brother, Bernard Millington, of Missouri; grandchildren, Eric Teets, Kevin Teets, Stephanie Huffman, Brian Millington and Elizabeth Millington; great granddaughter, Shelby Lynn Huffman; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lela Elizabeth, who died in June of 1998.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 26, from 5 to 9 p.m. at LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be at the Grandview cemetery, Urbana.

Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice.

Barbara Pool
Died: Sunday, July 22, 2001

Barbara J. Pool, 54, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at 2:52 p.m. in the Wellington Nursing Home in Urbana, Ohio.

She was born Nov. 23, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Willis H. and Barbara E. Sherman (Heaton).

She was employed by Fulmer's Supermarkets for 27 years and most recently by Little Lambs Christian Day Care Center.

She is survived by her husband, Dale R. Pool, of St. Paris; daughter, Julia R. Pool, of St. Paris; three step-daughters, Theresa Pool, of Memphis, Tenn., and Emilie Pool and Jackie Pool, both of St. Paris; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gail and Debbie Sherman, of Kettering, Gary and Shirley Sherman, of New Carlisle, Chelcie and Helen Sherman, of Sharpsburg, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews, including Liane Sherman Walker who made her smile and laugh a lot.

Special thanks to the Concord United Methodist Church and the New Carlisle Church of the Brethren for their prayers and kindness.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at the Medway cemetery with Rev. Kevin Boggs officiating.

Miriam Cook
Died: Saturday, July 21, 2001

Miriam A. Cook, 91, of Logan County, died July 21, 2001, at Green Hills Nursing Home. Services at the convenience of the family. Darlene Lewis
Died: Saturday, July 21, 2001

Darlene R. Lewis, 49, of Cable, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Ohio State University Hospital.

She was born on May 18, 1952 in Urbana, the daughter of Melvin and Dorothy (Feith) Jenkins.

She graduated from Graham High School, and attended modeling school. She was employed as a repair inspector with Siemens.

She was a member of Northside Church of God, Ladies of Harley, and Women of the Moose Chapter 698. She enjoyed Harley-riding and spent time modeling.

She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Dennis A. Lewis; a daughter and son, Shelly Rogers of Tampa, Fla., and Chris Caudy of South Haven, Miss.; a stepdaughter and stepson, Dwila Lewis of Lima and Demetrius Lewis of Bellefontaine; three sisters, Patty (Gene) Mumford of Urbana, Roberta (Stephen) Monfort of New Carlisle, and Ruby (Roger) Wells of Conover; two brothers, Roger (Kim) Jenkins of St. Paris and Robert (Debbie) Jenkins of Urbana; and a granddaughter, Hannah Rogers of Tampa, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepson, Doug McMillian.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, July 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. at 5 to 7 p.m. at the LITTLETON AND RUE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor David Gammillo officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Grove cemetery.

Robert D. Max
Died: Saturday, July 21, 2001

Robert D. Max, 78, of 3934 Hillside Drive, Urbana, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center, Springfield.

He was born on May 27, 1923 in Quaker City, Ohio, the son of Earl and Mary (Smith) Max.

He was a graduate of Quaker City High School in 1942 and attended classes on dairy techniques and public health and sanitation at the Ohio State University.

He was employed by the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Department of Food and Drugs, as an inspector and later as a supervisor. He worked for Royal Crest Dairy in Dayton as a quality control manager and was a national sales manager for Golden Guernsey Inc. in Peterborough, N.H., and served as the Champaign County Health Administrator until his retirement in 1984.

He was a member of Harmony Lodge No. 8 Urbana, Scottish Rite of Dayton, Antioch Shrine of Dayton and the Champaign County Shrine Club. He was also a member of Urbana United Methodist Church.

In his early years he enjoyed camping, fishing and golfing. Woodworking was a lifelong enjoyment but he always enjoyed conversations with his many friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Nora Lee (McGlumphy) Max, whom he married May 12, 1945; his son and daughter-in-law Robert L. and Cynthia R. Max of Urbana; grandchildren, Matthew E. Max and Laura A. Max, both of Cincinnati; brother, Earl M. Max of New Philadelphia; and two nieces, Linda Bradford and Marge Dozer, both of Kimbolten. He will be greatly missed by his two poodles, Molly Lee and Katie Lee.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gertrude L. Max.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the WALTER SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne Botkin officiating, with burial to follow in Oak Dale cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Champaign County Cancer Association or to the Champaign County Public Library.

Andrea Marie Ault
Died: Friday, July 20, 2001

Andrea Marie Ault, 19, of Urbana, died Friday, July 20, 2001, in Cape Coral, Fla., as a result of an automobile accident. She was the beloved daughter of Jill C. (Henderson) Ault, of Urbana, and Mark E. Ault, of Cape Coral, Fla.

She was a 2000 graduate of Urbana High School, where she participated in many activities. She excelled in basketball, where she won numerous awards and honors, locally and statewide. She was a member of Urbana United Methodist Church.

Those left to cherish her life and memory are her parents; her grandparents, Don and Charlotte Henderson, of Springfield; her brother, Matthew Ault, of Urbana; uncle and aunt, Don and Kim Henderson, of Xenia; cousins, Heather and Casey Henderson, of Xenia; several aunts and uncles, special cousins and many special friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the LITTLETON AND RUE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Revs. Wayne Botkin and E. James Dickey officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of family.

Andrea dearly loved her pets and would be happy to have memorial gifts made in her memory to P.A.W.S. Animal Shelter, 1535 W. U.S. Highway 36, Urbana, Ohio 43078. Ervin Chandler
Died: Friday, July 20, 2001

Ervin Chandler, age 88, of West Bennett Street, Woodstock, passed away Friday, July 20, 2001, in his residence.

He was born May 24, 1913, in Rockhouse, Ky., the son of the late Lafayette and Fabra Daniels Chandler.

Mr. Chandler had retired from the Champaign Nursing Home of Urbana.

He was a member of the Trinity Chapel Church of Milford Center, and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Gypsy (Johnson) Chandler, whom he married July 2, 1955, in Toms Creek, Ky.; two sisters, Laura Wheeler and Nora (Earshel) Pack, both of Ashland, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by three sisters, Emma, Mildred and Martha.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the SKILLMAN-McDONALD FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg, with Pastor Chris Polley officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview cemetery at Mutual.

Family and friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Mercy Hospital, Urbana.

Audrey Cummins
Died: Saturday, April 21, 2001

Audrey Lee Cummins, 79, of 617 Gwynne St., Urbana, Ohio, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, in his residence.

He was born in Bracken County, Kentucky, on April 23, 1921, to William and America Ellen (Showalters) Cummins.

He was retired from Liquid Carbonic Corp.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Fern (Shelton) Cummins; children, Luella (Norman) Kennedy and Judy Moreno, all of Urbana; grandchildren, Norman (Lori) Kennedy Jr., Debbie (Randy) Smith, Tammy (Sam) Roberts, Robert Riley, Ronald (Michele) Riley; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Junior (Kathleen) Wright, of Silver Grove, Ky., and William (Betty) Wright, of Delaware, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Robert Moreno; brothers, Charles and George Cummins and Richard Wright; sisters, Irene King, Mildred Wright and Wanda Tyndall.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the WALTER-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, Ohio, where the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Fred Clogg and Rev. Robert Instine officiating. Burial will be in Jenkins Chapel cemetery.

Edward Jackson
Died: Saturday, April 21, 2001

Edward Jackson, 84, of 452 Kenton St., Urbana, Ohio, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at 6:50 p.m. in Heartland of Urbana.

He was born on July 11, 1916, in Woodstock, Ohio, to Charles and Rachel (Manuel) Jackson.

He was retired from Drackett Products Co.

He is survived by his devoted and beloved wife, Rovella Jackson, of Urbana, Ohio; loving children, Ramona Howell Jackson, of Columbus, Ohio, Ralph (June) Jackson, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Marvin (Saundra) Jackson, of Springfield, Ohio, Robert, Roussell and Kenneth Jackson, all of Urbana, Ohio; 29 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Julia Bell, of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Davis (Mildred) Jackson and Martin (Naomi) Jackson, all of Urbana; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Chester, Robert and Forrest; grandson, Henry Howell Jr.

He was a member of the Jerusalem Second Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the WALTER-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, Ohio. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Jerusalem Second Baptist Church, 1036 S. High St., Urbana, Ohio. Burial will be in Oak Dale cemetery.

Friends may if they wish contribute to the Alzheimer's Association, 2634 Lexington Ave., Springfield, Ohio 45505, in his memory.

Frances Baker
Died: Friday, April 20, 2001

Frances V. Baker, 87, of Urbana, died Friday evening, April 20, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 14, 1914, in Shelby County, Ohio, the daughter of Warren W. and Jennie M. (Zimpher) Wells.

She formerly attended the Presbyterian Church and First Baptist Church in Urbana and was a former Sunday School teacher with First Baptist Church. She was also a World Book Encyclopedia Representative in the Urbana area and she was very active with the Senior Center.

Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and JoAnn Wells, of Venice, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Wells, of Vandalia, Ohio, Rosie Wells, of Sidney, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and John Hite, of Columbus, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Margie Baker, of Urbana, Ohio; brother-in-law, Virgil Baker, of St. Augustine, Fla.; three grandchildren, Teresa (Scott) Peterson, of Marion, Ohio, Brian (Tia) Hite, of Columbus, Ohio, Philip Hite, of Columbus, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Mariah and Jay Peterson, Emma Hite; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph E. Baker, who passed in November 2000 after 64 years of marriage; three brothers, Jim Wells, of Vandalia, Ohio, Bob Wells and Gene Wells, both formerly of Sidney.

A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday, April 28, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, in Urbana. A graveside service will be held for Mr. and Mrs. Baker at 2:30 p.m. at Graceland cemetery, in Sidney, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Association of Champaign County, P.O. Box 368, Urbana, Ohio 43078, or Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 38182, Urbana, Ohio 43078.
