GARFIELD HEIGHTS - Services for Ernest L. Glass, a resident of Silver Road, will be at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Ferfolia Funeral Home, 5386 Lee Road near Broadway, Maple Heights.
Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Monica Church. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Glass is survived by three daughters, Mitzi Sackett, Linda Wojtowicz and Patti Bales; a son, Mitchell; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine (Mitchell); and two sisters, Mary and Carolyn.
Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Joseph Dennis Klausner

PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP - Joseph Dennis Klausner, 77, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
He was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Chicago, and had resided in Painesville Township for 12 years. Before that, he lived in South Euclid.
A veteran of the Army during World War II, Mr. Klausner formerly owned Park Home Furnishings in Cleveland and Hallmark Fabrics of Mentor. A graduate of Benedictine High School, he later served on the school's board of directors.
He was fluent in three languages and loved traveling to Europe.
Survivors include his wife, Anna (Kolinovsky) of Painesville Township; two daughters, Denise Farrar of Ashtabula and Ann Marie Sassano of Canton; two sons, David of Lyndhurst and Gregory of Burton; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Theresa Krasula of Florida and Sister Antonia of Illinois.
Service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Philomena Church, 13824 Euclid Ave., East Cleveland. Burial will be in All Souls cemetery, Chardon.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.

Richard J. Laird

ASHTABULA - Richard J. "Dewey" Laird, 29, of Lake Road West died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, from injuries he suffered in an automobile accident. Earlier that day, he had been awarded the overall first place trophy in the Gilda's Club Regatta.
Mr. Laird was born May 25, 1970, in Laconia, N.H., the son of James and Susan (Carle) Laird.
An Ashtabula resident for most of his life, he graduated from Harbor High School in 1988. He earned his bachelor's degree from the College of Wooster and was a member of the Phi Omega Sigma fraternity.
He was a financial consultant and certified financial manager, employed by Merill Lynch, Ashtabula, since 1996. Previously, he worked for Paine Webber Co. in Boardman.
A member of the Harbor Yacht Club, he enjoyed sailing, snow skiing and golfing. He also was a member of the Second Congregational United Church of Christ.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, James Grant Laird IV of Ada; a sister, Karolyn L. Kerns of Tampa, Fla.; and his paternal grandmother, Mary Laird of Ashtabula.
Mr. Laird was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Richard and Irene Carle; and his paternal grandfather, James G. Laird Sr.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Second Congregational United Church of Christ, 319 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Glen Warner, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Ridgeview cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.
Memorial contributions may be given to Gilda's Club, 842 Center St., Ashtabula.

Dorothy L. McCune

GENEVA - Dorothy L. McCune, 84, formerly of North Avenue, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999, at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
She was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Dodridge County, W.Va., the daughter of Geoff and Jessie (Knight) Hayes.
A Geneva resident since 1975, she previously lived in Weston, W.Va. and Florida.
Mrs. McCune was a nurse's aide at Geneva Health Care for 11 years. She attended the Geneva Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha "Cookie" McCune of Akron; a son, Gerald, of Geneva; a grandson, Donald McCune; one great - granddaughter; and a sister, Irene Britton of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henery S.; three brothers, Wendy, Gerald and Wendell; and a sister, Kathleen Lee.
Service is 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, with Elder Glenn Baker of Madison Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Weston Masonic cemetery, Weston, W. Va.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Blanche Mullola

HUNTSBURG - Blanche Mullola, 78, of East Claridon, died Sunday evening, Aug. 29, 1999, at Blossom Hill Health Care in Huntsburg.
Mrs. Mullola was born June 10, 1921, in Youngstown, the daughter of Porter and Millei (Peck) Barclay. She was a Middlefield High School graduate and a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Mullola worked as a cook at Jordak Elementary School in Middlefield for 20 years. In her leisure time she enjoyed baking, crossword puzzles, bowling and fishing.
Survivors include a son, Herman G. Mullola of Middlefield; two daughters, Betty Ann Petersen of East Claridon, and Jean Summers of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five grandchildren and seven great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Heimo "Slim" Mullola, whom she married June 26, 1942, in Warren; a brother, Louis Barclay, and a sister, Eleanor Szemenyei.
Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Russell Golden Rule Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield. D. Ray Mullet, pastor of the Maple View Mennonite Church, Burton, will officiate. Cremation will take place and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

E. Lucile Oaks

TUCSON, Ariz. - E. Lucile Oaks, 92, of 2044 E. Big Horn Mountain Drive died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at Dignita Hospice Care, Tucson.
She was born Aug. 16, 1907, in Denmark, the daughter of Herbert and Minnie (Clark) Pendleton. She married Paul Hoffman in 1926, and her second husband, Ernest Oaks, in 1952.
A former Vienna, Ohio, resident, she had lived in Tucson the past two years.
Mrs. Oaks was a cafeteria worker for the Mathews School District for more than 18 years. She retired in 1979. She also was a member of Vienna United Methodist Church and the church's women's society. She was formerly a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Youngstown.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing canasta.
Survivors include two sons, Herbert P. Hoffman of Reston, Va., and W. Robert Hoffman of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Margaret J. Fittipaldi of Pittsford, N.Y.; two step - daughters, Marjorie Hayes of Vienna and Faye Jones of Cortland; a step - son, Olen Oaks of Mineral Ridge; nine grandchildren; and four great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, in 1949; and her second husband, in 1981; and by a brother, Loren Pendleton.
Service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Vienna United Methodist Church, 4265 Warren - Sharon Road, Vienna, with the Revs. Bruce McLaughlin and Ronald Eppler officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Andover.
No calling hours will be observed.
The Baumgardner Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 134 Prospect St., Andover, is in charge of arrangements.

James Starkey

FLAT ROCK, N.C. - Former Conneaut resident James Starkey died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999, at his home in Flat Rock.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Thompson - Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.

Theda Ann Sumner

GIRARD, Pa. - Theda Ann (Bell) Sumner, 70, of Westgate Drive died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999, at Pleasant Ridge Manor in Fairview, Pa.
She was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Kingsville, the daughter of John and Catherine (Beardsley) Bell. She married Melvin Sumner Dec. 21, 1946.
A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Sumner enjoyed tending her flower garden, crocheting and taking magazines to and volunteering at Pleasant Ridge Manor. She was a member of East Springfield, Pa., Federated Church.
Survivors include her husband; four children, Terry A. of Union City, Pa., Stanley B. of West Springfield, Pa., Pamela R. Walzer of Capon Bridge, W. Va., and Brian M. of Waldorf, Md.; 11 grandchildren; four great - grandchildren; and many more distant relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Taryn Sumner; and her step - father, Roy Curley.
Private services will be held at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, East Springfield, with Pastor Ed Huntley of East Springfield Federated Church officiating. Burial will be in Springfield cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed.
Contributions in Mrs. Sumner's memory may be given to the West County Paramedic Association, 6852 Meadville Road, Girard, Pa.; or the Dobler House Fire Department, 34 Main St., Girard.

Jacqueline F. Wasilewski

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP - Jacqueline F. Wasilewski, 75, of East Morgan Road, Plymouth Township, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1999, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Covenant Assembly of God Church, 128O Route 46 N., Jefferson.
Cremation took place at the Family Care Group Cremation Center in Jefferson. Fleming Funeral Home Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, handled arrangements.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of Ashtabula County, 2420 Lake Ave., Ashtabula.

Leo Edward Downey

KINGSVILLE TOWNSHIP - Leo Edward Downey, 84, of Westminster Avenue, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.

John Pixley

MONROE TOWNSHIP - Adams Road resident, John M. Pixley, 60, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000 at Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut, following a 10 - year illness.
Born March 16, 1939, in the Monroe Township home he was living in when he died, he was a son of Adelbert and Harriet (Hazeltine) Pixley.
He married Mary Buie on Sept. 14, 1964.
The lifelong Monroe Township resident graduated from Conneaut High School in 1957.
He always worked as a self - employed dairy farmer.
He was an Army veteran.
He enjoyed reading, his grandchildren and his sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Jane Fox of Kingsville Township; a son, John A. of Monroe Township; three grandchildren, Christopher, Courtney and Casey Fox; and a sister, Jane Steen of Waterford, Pa.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter at birth and three brothers, Dan and Robert Pixley and one at birth.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Marcy Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Dana Harju, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, officiating. Burial will be in Kelloggsville cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department of the Pierpont Fire Department Rescue Squad. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Arnel Pomp

ASHTABULA - Arnel Lee Pomp Sr., 77, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born March 9, 1922, in Adrian, W.Va., he was a son of Sylvester and Beatrice (Aegan) Pomp.
He had lived most of his life in West Virginia. He had been an Ashtabula area resident since 1997.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a laborer in various steel mills.
He was an Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He enjoyed playing pool and cards.
Survivors include two sons, Arnel L. Jr. of Mentor and Mark of Ashtabula; a daughter, Romonia Phillipp of Geneva; 13 grandchildren; 10 great - grandchildren; and two brothers, Art Pomp of Tampa, Fla. and Frank Pomp of Madison.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah (Merriman); a son, Herman; and four brothers, Paul, Gene, Brooks and William.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts, pastor of the Pentecostal Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Painesville, with full military honors.
Calling hour is 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Neil E. Drought

GENEVA - Neil E. Drought, 93, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at Geneva Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 8, 1906, in Harpersfield Township, he was a son of Robert W. and Lola M. (Hardy) Drought.
He married Fay Niedhammer on Oct. 20, 1951, in Parma.
He had lived on State Road in Trumbull Township.
He worked in the golf shaft department at Geneva True Temper.
Mr. Drought was an Army veteran who had served with the 49th Tank Battalion.
He attended Cork Methodist Church.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Funeral is 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva. Burial will be in Trumbull cemetery in Trumbull Township.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
