John C. Mounger
ERIE, Pa. - John Charles Mounger, 43, of Seven Hills Road, Plymouth Township, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at the Erie Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The son of Cecil and Julia (Zytowiecky) Mounger, he was born Nov. 4, 1956, in Phoenix, Ariz.
He had lived in the Ashtabula and Cleveland area for most of his life. He also had lived in Florida for 12 years.
While in Florida, he worked as a nursing home supervisor.
An Army veteran, he served in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Mounger enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his mother of Ashtabula; sons Mark Aaron of Florida, John of Gainesville, Ga. and Matthew of Hiawassee, Ga.; daughter Genesis Lynn Mounger of Florida; a granddaughter; brothers Cecil Jr. of Cleveland Heights and Allen of Hudson, N.H.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Lawrence L. Patterson
JEFFERSON - Former East Jefferson Street resident Lawrence L. "Pappy" Patterson, 74, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at the Jefferson Geriatric Center, where he had been a resident the past six months.
The son of Edward T. and Mary E. (Gass) Patterson, he was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Jefferson Township.
He married
the former Zylpha R. Monroe on June 7, 1945, in Jefferson.
Mr. Patterson served with the Army during World War II and had been an area resident all his life, except from 1954 to 1964, when he lived in West Virginia.
He was a self - employed lumberjack and a former member of the Dorset Volunteer Fire Department.
He enjoyed video taping, listening to blue grass music and camping.
Survivors include his wife; eight children, L. Lavern Patterson of Indiana, Judy A. Turner of Pierpont Township, Robert A. of Dorset Township, Nancy R. Plott of Camden, S.C., Harold L. of Sturgiss, Mich., and Shirley J. Fogle, Dora Rae McGirr and Emma L. Drda, all of Dorset Township; 27 grandchildren; seven step - grandchildren; 19 great - grandchildren; 14 great - stepgrandchildren; and two sisters, Irene V. Booher of West Union, W.Va., and Wanda McKinley of Ellenboro, W.Va.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and John in infancy; a grandson, Maylon Strang; a great - grandson, Brandon VanWinkle; a step - granddaughter, Sheila Rhodes; and four brothers, Pearl, Burl, Ralph and Raymond Patterson.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49 West Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. G. Reed Taylor, interim pastor of the Lenox Federated Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lenox Center cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Anthony P. Principe
EUCLID - Anthony F. Principe, 89, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at the Heather Hill Health Care Center.
The son of Leonard and Theresa (Calone) Principe, he was born March 16, 1910, in Cleveland. He lived in the Euclid area for 35 years, moving there from Cleveland's Little Italy neighborhood.
He married
the former Nancy Natale at Holy Rosary Church in Little Italy in 1936.
He was a shipping foreman at the former National Copper in Solon. He retired in 1975 after 48 years' service.
Mr. Principe enjoyed all sports, and was an usher at the old Municipal Stadium. He ushered Cleveland Browns games until he was 79, and Indians games until he was 81. After his ushering days were over, he enjoyed watching the teams on television.
He was a former treasurer and active member of the Little Italy Retirees Association. He enjoyed golf, football, baseball, basketball and bowling.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosalie Robichaud of Munson Township; three sons, Len Principe of North Olmsted, Dennis Principe of Concord Township, and Roger Principe of Perry Township; three sisters, Lena Janowski of Parma, Louise Romano of Mayfield Heights, and Angela Pulchalski of Brunswick; and eight grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, on June 11, 1997; and brothers Roger, Michael and Joseph Principe.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon. Burial will be in All Souls cemetery, Chardon.

Marian M. Eighmy
WILMINGTON, Del. - Marian M. Eighmy, 79, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at the Christiana Care Hospital, Wilmington.
Born July 20, 1920, in Conneaut, she was the daughter of Otis and Jena (Spaulding) Brewster. She had resided in Wilmington since 1987; moving from Fort Myers, Fla., where she had lived for five years. Before 1982, she had made her home in Conneaut.
Mrs. Eighmy was instrumental in helping her husband develop Eighmy Products Corp., Conneaut, where she worked in the office and factory. She was also employed by the former Astatic Corp., for several years, and the former Dover Crest Mills Co.
She was a 50 - year member of the Conneaut United Church of Christ. While living in Wilmington, she attended First Alliance Church. A 1938 graduate of Conneaut High School, she was a 50 - year member of the Rose Chapter, Order of Eastern Star No. 22; she was a member of McDowell Music Club and Ensemble, and also sang in the Barbershop Girls' Quartet and Husband and Wife Quartet, which included her husband, Harry, and friends Bob and Betty Baldwin.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed golf, bowling and playing bridge.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Chandler of Wilmington; sons Gerald B. of Conneaut and Charles J. of Newark, Del.; six grandchildren and eight great - grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; and two brothers, George and Homer Brewster.
Service is 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Church of Christ, Main and Buffalo streets, Conneaut. The Rev. Walter Coy will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Loren Salfrank, pastor of the First Alliance Church, Hockessin, Del. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens mausoleum, North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson - Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.

Peter E. Janson Jr.
KINGSVILLE TOWNSHIP - Former Rock Creek resident Peter E. Janson Jr., 74, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home in Kingsville Township.
Born May 3, 1925, in Rock Creek, he was the son of Peter E. Sr. and Areba Hopes Janson.
He married
Lois C. Guenther on April 12, 1947, in Cleveland.
He worked with his father and brothers in the family's custom threshing business. In 1969, he started Janson's Soil Service, spreading agricultural lime on farms throughout the area. He also spread lime on golf courses in many states, including Augusta National Country Club, site of the Masters Tournamen, in Augusta, Ga.
Mr. Janson was a Morgan Township trustee for 24 years and served 12 years on the Ohio Township Association Board of Directors.
He attended Rock Creek United Methodist Church.
Mr. Janson was a former Worthy Patron of Order of Eastern Star 354; a former Master at the Masonic Lodge of Rock Creek; a member of Caliph Grotto in Painesville; a 32nd degree Mason at the Valley of Cleveland Shrine; and five times he was in the Ruritan National Club.
He was honored by the Rotary Club of Rock Creek for his part in setting up the Rotary Recycling Center and the Rock Creek Rotary Park. He also was honored for public service by Ohio Sen. Robert Boggs.
Mr. Janson enjoyed traveling and he especially loved his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of Rock Creek; a son, Peter E. Janson III of Rock Creek; three grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph of Bristolville and Donald of Geneva; and a sister, Leora Sipp in California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and a brother, Robert.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday at the Paine Funeral Home, 3119 West Water St., Rock Creek, with Gordon Emerson, lay pastor of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Union cemetery in Rock Creek.

Margaret McBride
CHARDON - Margaret McBride, 93, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at her home.
Born Aug. 18, 1906, in Collinwood, she was the daughter of Homer and Ellen (Heath) Sommers. She had lived in Chardon for 70 years.
Mrs. McBride was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Progress Research Club, Pilgrim Christian Church and its guild, and the Republican Women's Club of Geauga. She had worked as a seamstress at Halle's department store, Cleveland, for a short time before her marriage.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Demko of Chardon; grandchildren Daniel and Deborah Demko DiJulio of California; three great - grandchildren and four great - great - grandchildren; and a dear friend, Fred Warner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger S., in 1963; an daughter, Margery, in infancy; brothers, Arthur and Clarence Sommers; and a sister, Agnes Sullivan.
Service is noon Thursday at the Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon, with the Rev. Robert Penrod of Pilgrim Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery, Munson Township.

Glen P. Newman
JEFFERSON - Glen P. Newman, 92, of Route 46, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center, where he had been a patient the past 16 days.
Born June 29, 1907, in Jefferson, he was the son of Walter and Mabel (Jerome) Newman.
A lifetime Jefferson resident, he retired from Union Carbide in 1972, after 28 years of employment.
He attended the Bethel Bible Church for many years.
He was a lifetime member of the Jefferson Grange.
Mr. Newman enjoyed auctions, yard and garage sales and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Arnold L. of Connecticut and Raymond E. of Jefferson; two daughters, Carol J. Clingerman and Dolores M. Kean, both of Jefferson; 11 grandchildren; and six great - grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Dawson Newman, in 1979; his second wife, Jean Emery Newman, in 1987; a daughter, Anna; and a grandson.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49 West Jefferson St. Burial will be in Oakdale cemetery.

Daniel F. Nowakowski
ANDOVER - Daniel F. Nowakowski, 63, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999.
He was born June 10, 1963, in Cleveland, the son of Frank and Theresa Nowakowski. A former Huntsburg resident, he had lived in Andover for the past two months.
Mr. Nowakowski was a mill worker at Ball Rubber Co. from 1976 to 1980.
Survivors include two brothers, Norman and Lynn, both of Troy Township; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, in October 1994.
Private family funeral will be held today. The Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon, is handling arrangements.
Raymond Seals
ASHTABULA - Raymond Seals, 91, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at his home.
Born Jan. 18, 1908, in Wewoka, Okla., he was the son of Oscar and Amy (Campbell) Seals.
A graduate of Valley Springs Methodist High School, in Omaha, Ark., and Hendrix College, Conway, Ark., he attended Garrett Bible Institute, Chicago, Ill., and Oberlin Theological Seminary, Oberlin.
The Rev. Seals pastored a number of North Arkansas Methodist churches from 1926 to 1944. During the same time period, he pursued a teaching career in which he taught Latin, English, math and physical education. In 1944, he was commissioned in the Army as a chaplain, saw action in Germany, and earned the Bronze Star with Oakleaf Clusters. He also served in the Korean War.
Upon retirement from the Army in 1965, he settled in Ashtabula, where he taught Latin and other subjects at Harbor High School. He was the west gate ticket seller at HHS football games for 27 years.
Following his teaching career, he served as minister of South Harpersfield United Methodist Church for five years, retiring at the age of 80.
Survivors include his wife, Betty (Grocott), whom he wed Aug. 16, 1932, in Oberlin; a daughter, Betty Rae Stough of Austinburg; adopted children Eric of Atlanta, Ga., Cathy Leonard of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Skip Farr of Indiana; four grandchildren, including Paul Stough of Ashtabula, and seven great - grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, James; a daughter, Barbara; and two brothers, Roy and Genus.
Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the South Harpersfield United Methodist Church, 5524 Cork - Cold Springs Road, with the Rev. Frank Loeffel officiating.

James M. Sealy
GREENVILLE, Pa. - Kinsman resident James M. Sealy, 61, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, Pa.
Born July 24, 1938, in Butler, Pa., he was the son of Raymond E. and Doris A. (Myers) Sealy.
He married
Donna J. Smith on March 12, 1959, in Hagerstown, Md.
For 10 years, the longtime Kinsman resident was employed by the Warren Sanitary Dairy and later by the Continental Baking Co. for more than 28 years, until his retirement in 1995. Subsequently, he served as a caretaker for the Kinsman cemetery Association.
A 1957 graduate of Kinsman High School, he served four years in the Marine Corps.
He was a member of the Kinsman Presbyterian Church, where he served as an officer in earlier years.
He enjoyed gardening, flowers, landscaping and the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kimberly R. Brainard of Kinsman and Teresa L. Cecelic of Cherry Valley Township; a son, Douglas R. Sealy of Chardon; two granddaughters; and three sisters, Kay Crisan of Masury, Dorothy Aberman of Miami, Fla., and Alyce Beth Hippie of Austintown.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral is 4 p.m. Thursday at the Kinsman Presbyterian Church in Kinsman, with the Rev. John Helgeson officiating. Cremation will follow at the Family Care Group Crematory in Jefferson. Burial of the remains will be in the Kinsman cemetery at the convenience of the family.

John Stewart Westcott
CLEVELAND - John Stewart Westcott, 46, of Cardinal Drive, Astabula, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at University Hospitals of Cleveland after a massive stroke.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services on Thursday.

Phyllis J. Berman
CHICAGO, Ill. - Phyllis J. Berman, 83, 6101 N. Sheridan Road, Apt. 13B, Chicago, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago.
Mrs. Berman was born Jan. 5, 1916, in London, Ontario, the daughter of Howard and Mildred (Wilhelm) McMahon.
Formerly of Cleveland, she had lived in the Chicago area since the 1950s. Mrs. Berman worked many years as a bookkeeper for a number of companies in Chicago. In her leisure time, she was an avid reader, and she loved life.
She married
Emanuel "Manny" Berman on Oct. 6, 1976.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Jane E. Korver of Geneva, Kathleen Myers of Madison, and Tamsin Klels of Richmond, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Vance McMahon; two sisters, Wanda Jean McMahon and Marilyn Chappell; and a grandson, Christopher Korver.
Service is noon Friday at the Baumgardner Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 8589 Main St., Kinsman. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Cortland.
Calling hours are 11 a.m. Friday until the time of service.
