Clyde Early
LENOX TOWNSHIP - Funeral for Clyde Early, 68, of Stumpville Road, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Jefferson Community Church of God in Christ, 1381 Route 167. Burial will be in Eagleville cemetery, Austinburg Township.
Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Mr. Early died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Joseph Paul Frient
ROOTSTOWN - Joseph Paul Frient, 86, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at home.
A lifelong Rootstown resident, he was born there Sept. 10, 1913, the son of Engelbert and Katie (Gubich) Frient.
Mr. Frient belonged to Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., Akron, in 1976, after 30 years service as a mechanic.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Adeline Lucille (Kline) Frient; four sons, Kenneth J. and Paul M., both of Rootstown, Ronald F. of Ravenna and Larry of Andover; and eight grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John; and two sisters, Catherine Keppler and Teresa Needles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Ravenna. The Rev. Larry Frient will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park, Ravenna.
Calling hour is 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wood - Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Robinson Visiting Nurse and Hospice.
Baby Longenecker
CHERRY VALLEY TOWNSHIP - Baby Longenecker was stillborn Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at the Meadville, Pa. Medical Center.
The baby was the child of Joseph and Heather (Giest) Longenecker of Virginia Beach, Va.
Survivors, in addition to the parents, include a sister, Katelin E.; paternal grandparents, Robin and Carla Longenecker of Cherry Valley Township; paternal grandmother Penny Dove of Tennessee; maternal grandparents Wayne and Eva Giest of Westford, Pa.; paternal great - grandparents, Harry Longenecker of Cherry Valley, James and Deanna Jordan of Andover, Alvin and Darlene Loomis of Sheffield and Joseph and Bonnie Garlicia of Arcadia, Fla.; and maternal great - grandmother Ethel Giest of Meadville, Pa.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Gathleen Spivey
CLEVELAND - Madison resident Gathleen "Kathy" Spivey, 71, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at University Hospitals in Cleveland.
Born March 10, 1928, in Big Four, W.Va., she was the daughter of Elmer G. and Viola (Day) Felts.
She had lived in Madison for 14 years and was a former Mentor resident.
She retired in 1992 from her job as a machine operator for the Cliff Manufacturing Division of Parker - Hannifin in Willougby.
She was a member of the Painesville Eagles.
She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, camping, crafts and loved her animals Buffy, Lady and Prince.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Wilson and Beverly Proctor Gay, both of Trumbull Township; five grandchildren, Nathan and Nathaniel Proctor, Tammy Craft, Bill Perovich Jr. and Guy Wilson; 10 great - grandchildren; and a companion, Ron Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Spear - Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Burial will be in Mentor cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Edna Mae Stillman
HEMET, Calif. - Edna Mae "Speed" Stillman, 65, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999.
Born Sept. 12, 1934, in Geneva, she lived in Hemet the past 20 years.
She was employed at Denny's Restaurant, Temecula, Calif., as a kitchen assistant.
Mrs. Stillman was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 53 of Hemet, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Vista, Calif.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Charles R.; four sons, John of Ravenna, Glenn and Leslie, both of Hemet and Howard of St. Paul, Minn.; three daughters, Cynthia Ehrman of Salisbury, N.C., Kimberly Kittle of Belpre and Coreen Dickerson of Fort Waynwright, Alaska; 19 grandchildren; two great - grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Morris of Erie, Pa.; and three sisters, Arlene Doney of Monatt, Mo., Dorothy Keifer of Monroe, Mich., and Virginia Bettinger of Marietta.
Private burial was held in California.
Hemet Valley Mortuary, 403 N. San Jacinto St., Hemet, was in charge of arrangements.
William S. Cook
CLEVELAND - William Scovill Cook, 86, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000.
A graduate of Ashtabula High School, Mr. Cook was well - known in area music circles during the 1930s and '40s. He performed his first organ recital at the age of 12, at the First Presbyterian Church of Ashtabula.
He majored in music at Baldwin - Wallace College, and later taught at Thomas A. Edison Vocational School in Cleveland. During this time, he organized and directed the Orpheus Choral Club in Ashtabula, which performed throughout Ashtabula County.
Drafted into the Army during World War II, he played the organ at Schofield Barracks military base in Hawaii. After leaving the service, he resumed teaching at Thomas Edison. He married
Elizabeth Nina Dargo of Lorain in 1945.
Mr. Cook held positions as organist and choirmaster at several churches in the Cleveland metropolitan area, and he organized and directed many cantatas and oratorios, using local singers. His last positions were at St. Malachi Church in Cleveland and the Christian Science Church in Lakewood.
Survivors include a son, Gregory Cook of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and a granddaughter, Sheila Christine Cook, serving with the Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Lionel Cook and Martha (Anderson) Cook; brothers Eugene Anderson and Lionel Merle Cook; sisters Dorothy (Cook) Hissa and Margaret Reva Cook; and his wife.
Service was Jan. 7 at Gluvna Funeral Home in Lorain. Burial was in Calvary cemetery, Lorain.
Andrew Dragon
BAUDETTE, Minn. - Andrew Dragon, 75, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at his home.
A former Ashtabula resident, he was born Dec. 24, 1923, in LaTrobe, Pa., the son of Paul and Mary (Butchko) Dragon.
Mr. Dragon was employed locally as a machinist for Parker Appliance Co. He entered the Navy in September 1942, and was stationed in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II. He survived the sinking of a freighter off South America and air attacks on a destroyer deployed near Tokyo.
He wed the former Shirley May Bell Oct. 25, 1947, in Ashtabula. The couple moved to Clementson Minn., in 1965, operated the Clementson Resort and opened the local post office.
In later years, he worked for Concraft Builders, of International Falls, Minn., and Larry Larson of Baudette, Minn. He retired in 1992.
Survivors include his second wife, Eldyne, whom he wed Nov. 26, 1976; sons Dale of Baudette and Gary and Kenneth, both of International Falls; a stepson, Dale Lauritson of Mound, Minn.; stepdaughters Lois Hoodenpyle of Tallahassee, Fla., Virginia Lauritson of Proctor, Minn. and Carol Fadness of Baudette; 21 grandchildren; six great - grandchildren; brothers Paul, Elias, George and Frank, all of Ashtabula; and sisters Dorothy Terlitsky of Bradenton, Fla., and Betty Azzano, Marge Marshall and Martha Mosinski, all of Ashtabula.
Besides his parents, Mr. Dragon was preceded in death by his first wife, in December 1974; a daughter, Donna, in 1949; two brothers, Michael and John; and a sister, Delores Metcalf.
Service is 2 p.m. Thursday at the Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Baudette, Minn., with the Rev. Rosanna Walker officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Robert L. Greenlee
CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. - Robert L. Greenlee, 85, of State Highway 86, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at the Meadville, Pa. Medical Center, following a lingering illness.
The son of Robert L. and Alice Frantz Greenlee, he was born Dec. 7, 1914, in Albion, Pa. He had lived in Cambridge Township since 1945.
He was employed as a machinist at several local tool and die shops, as well as the Bucyrus Corp. in Erie for nine years, and Greenleaf Inc. in Saegertown, Pa. for five years. He also grew Christmas trees for awhile.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his second wife, Sophie (Tome), whom he wed Sept. 16, 1961; a son, Robert of Alma, Ark.; two daughters, Mary Holowach of Tupelo, Miss. and Eleanore McKinney of Baldwin, Miss.; a stepson, Larry A. Tome of Conneaut; nine grandchildren; and 13 great - grandchildren.
Mr. Greenlee was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence, in 1954; a daughter, Rhea Greenlee; and a sister, Eleanore Catrabone.
Service is 2 p.m. Thursday at the Van Matre Funeral Home, 335 Venango Ave., Cambridge Springs, Pa. John Horoschuck, minister at the Cambridge Springs Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses, will officiate. Burial will be in Cambridge cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Dennis J. Harvey
SPRINGBORO, Pa. - Dennis J. Harvey, 65, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, of complications caused by emphysema.
The son of Harry L. and Elizabeth (Rossiter) Harvey, he was born June 23, 1934, in Erie.
Mr. Harvey most recently worked for the Area Shopper Ad Printing Agency. Previously, he co - owned the Springboro Inn and was plant manager at Bird Plastics Inc. in Erie. He also had been employed as foreman at Presque Isle Plastics Co. and Zurns Leisure Products Group Inc.
He belonged to Meadville Elks Lodge 219, Albion Moose Club 381, Conneautville American Legion 615 and Meadville Eagles Post 429. He frequently volunteered at the Springboro Fire Department.
A devoted family man, he enjoyed golfing, hunting and ice fishing. He also loved music, enjoyed taking care of his pets and growing roses and vegetables.
Survivors include his wife, V. Ruth (Stafford) Carr - Harvey, whom he married
Nov. 7, 1967; seven children, James Harvey, Denise Kabaday and Terry Ray, all of Erie, Cheryl Payne of Conneautville, Pa., Gayle Wettekin of Erie, Laura Loughner of Conneautville and Timko of Wexford, Pa.; three sisters, Kathleen Granahan and Rita Baushad, both of Erie and Annette Ashworth of Cataubaw Islands; 12 grandchildren and three great - grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Harvey was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Harvey; a brother, Harrey Jr.; and a son, Michael, in infancy.
Service is 1 p.m. Friday at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main St., E. Springfield, Pa., with the Rev. Ed Huntley, pastor of the Federated Church, officiating. Private burial will be in Springfield cemetery, East Springfield.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the Elks will conduct a service at 7:30.
Following the funeral, an Irish Wake will be held at the Springboro Inn, 106 S. Main St., Springboro, Pa.

Alexander Kosenko
NEW LYME TOWNSHIP - Alexander Kosenko, 76, of Route 46 South, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at the Horizon Hospitals - Greenville, Pa. campus, after being admitted earlier in the day.
The son of Michael and Uliana (Chamayon) Kosenko, he was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Kurst, Russia. He emigrated to the United States in 1955 after having lived in England and Russia.
Mr. Kosenko worked at Woolen Mills in Cleveland for 20 years, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Warren.
He enjoyed eating out and and being with friends and family.
Survivors include a sister, Maria Kosenko of New Lyme Township; a nephew, Walter Kosenko of Geneva; and three nieces, Alexandra M. Skvarck of Painesville, Lydia Peck of Ashtabula and Kathryn Drake of Monroe Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service is 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 2220 Reeve Road N.W., Warren, with the Rev. Peter Pawlack officiating. Burial will be in Lenox Center cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed.

Harrison H. Rogers
EUCLID - Harrison H. Rogers, 87, of Cleveland, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Euclid Meridian Hospital.
Born Oct. 9, 1912, in Brooksville, Miss., he was the son of Hunter and Sally (Reece) Rogers.
A Cleveland resident for most of his life, Mr. Rogers was employed at the city's Sears department store. He served with the Army during World War II.
His hobbies included going to the movies and visiting parks.
Survivors include a daughter, Juanita Lewis of Ashtabula; five grandchildren; eight great - grandchildren; and one great - great - grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen (Brock) Rogers; and a brother, Emmitt.
Service is 1 p.m. today at the family gravesite at Highland Park cemetery, Cleveland. The Rev. Alfred Lewis, pastor of the Union Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate.
Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, is in charge of arrangements.
Aletha Cone
ROCHESTER HILL, Mich. - Aletha (Klinger) Cone, 85, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999.
Mrs. Cone had lived in the Geneva and Madison area most of her life. In recent years, however, she lived in Spring Hill, Fla.
Survivors include her son, William; a daughter, Bonnie Scollon; and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ella Klinger; her husband, Lewis; and her sisters, Edith Prime, Ruth Poling and Edna Thompson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Dallas D. Ensman
GLENDORA, Calif. - Dallas D. Ensman, 73, died Oct. 19, 1999.
Born Feb. 6, 1926, he was the son of Kurt and Inez (Maurer) Ensman.
He lived in Austinburg and graduated from Austinburg High School. A Navy veteran of World War II, he earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Ohio University and a master's degree from Kent State University in 1957.
He taught at Rome - Hartsgrove School from 1950 to 1953; and was principal at Jefferson Elementary School from 1953 to 1958. He then moved to Covina, Calif., where he taught and was vice principal at Charter Oak High School until retiring in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn (Byrd), whom he wed in 1951, in Toronto, Canada; five sons; nine grandchildren; two brothers, James and Jerry of Austinburg; and a sister, Joan Leoblein of Monroe, N.C.
Frederick `Fritz' Felicijan Sr.
ROCK CREEK - Frederick A. "Fritz" Felicijan Sr., 75, died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center, Ashtabula.
Born Sept. 30, 1924, in Cleveland, he was the son of John and Mary (Luzar) Felicijan.
Mr. Felicijan was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Rock Creek; the Knights of Columbus, Jefferson; and the United Auto Workers. He had been employed as a shipping foreman with Ford Motor Co. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Europe as an anti - aircraft gunner with the 556th CA Battalion.
He was a life - member of the Geneva Post 6846 VFW, and a member of American Legion Post 719, Orwell. After he retired, he enjoyed his family and his farm.
Survivors include three sons, Frederick Jr., Tony and John of Rock Creek; a sister, Louise Murphy of Brookpark; four grandchildren and three step - grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bernice (Miklacic); his second wife, Ellen (Martini); three brothers, John, Tony and Bill; three sisters, Mary Grow, Ann Rosbough and Stella Bissell; and a grandson.
Service is 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, Rock Creek, with the Rev. Edward Kowaleski officiating. Burial will be in Union cemetery, Rock Creek.
