Virginia P. Dickson
WILLOUGHBY - Virginia P. (Patterson) Dickson, 95, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Fairmount Health Center.
The daughter of Harry H. and Helen V. Patterson, she was born July 20, 1904, in Pittsburgh. She had lived in Saybrook Township for 35 years before moving to Willoughby 10 years ago.
She was a graduate of Ogontz Finishing School in Pennsylvania. During the 1920s, she traveled extensively, touring the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Europe and the Middle East. She and her husband, Hugh, managed rental property in Ashtabula County, and operated a peach farm in Saybrook Township.
A homemaker, Mrs. Dickson was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She loved duplicate bridge and was a former champion golfer. In her younger days, she rode, trained and showed horses.
Survivors include a daughter, Helen G. Kapetan of Naples, Fla., and Fairfield, Conn.; seven grandchildren and 10 great - grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Murray B. Grimes; her second husband, Hugh G. Dickson; and a daughter, Isabel G. Pallante.
A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date at The Lyons Chapel at The Nason Center of Breckenridge Village, Willoughby. No calling hours will be observed.
Burial will be in All Souls cemetery, Chardon Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Breckenridge Village Life Care Fund, 36855 Ridge Road, Willoughby.

Genevieve A. Gehring
GENEVA - Genevieve A. Gehring, 83, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Esther Marie Nursing Center, Geneva.
The daughter of James Osburn and Mittie C. (Poling) Fortney, she was born March 17, 1916, in Tunnelton, W.Va. She had lived in Unionville for 50 years.
She was a 1937 graduate of Madison High School. A homemaker, she was a member of the Unionville United Church of Christ for more than 50 years. She past president of the church's Women's Fellowship and chairman and treasurer of the East Group.
She enjoyed making crafts.
Survivors include a son, William J. Rosencrans of Madison; two grandchildren, Pat Rosencrans and Kim Short; four great - grandchildren; three sisters, Sarah Williams of Harpersfield Township, Evelyn Dalin of Ashtabula and Thelma E. Berg of Madison; and three brothers, Howard Fortney of Terre Haute, Ind., Ralph Fortney and Adrian C. Fortney of Madison.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Rosencrans; her second husband, Frank Gehring; and a brother, David H. Fortney.
Service is 11 a.m. Thursday at the Unionville United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Unionville cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva.

Allan S. Drummond
MADISON - Allan S. Drummond, 80, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
The son of Seth and Florence Drummond, he was born June 30, 1919, in Columbus. He had lived in Madison for 40 years.
An Army veteran, he fought in Europe during World War II.
Mr. Drummond retired in 1980 as an engineer for General Electric.
He enjoyed fishing and working jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include a son, Claude Buchan of Madison; two grandchildren, Gail Williams and David Buchan; five great - grandchildren; and two sisters, Hazel Hanna of Barberton and Helen Bouknight of Jacksonville, N.C.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Francis, in 1998; and also by a sister, Beatrice Drummond; and a brother, Arthur.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview cemetery, River Street, Madison, with the Rev. John Germaine of Chapel United Methodist Church, Madison, officiating.
No calling hours will be observed.
The Behm Family Funeral Home, Madison, is in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie C. Daniel
ASHTABULA - Marjorie C. Daniel, 73, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, in the Hospice Unit of the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
The daughter of Levi and Sylvia (Parker) Cooper, she was born July 15, 1926, in Behnam, Ky.
She had lived in North Kingsville with her daughter for the past five months. She had resided in Mount Lebanon, Pa.
Survivors include a daughter, Candace L. Daniel of North Kingsville; a son, John K.; and a granddaughter, Andrea L. Cozza of North Kingsville; a brother, James B. Green of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a sister, June Erickson of Atlanta.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Karl R. Daniel Jr.
A memorial service will be held in Pittsburgh.

Paul Michael Majewski
HAMBDEN TOWNSHIP - Services for Paul Majewski will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 116 South St., Chardon.
William G. Rimes and Chuck Keiper will officiate. Calling hours will precede the service from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Mr. Majewski, 77, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000.
Helen S. Carlson
CONNEAUT - Hayward Avenue resident, Helen S. Carlson, 82, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at UHHS - Brown Memorial Hospital.
Born July 7, 1917, in Girard, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Esther (Shutt) Bax, and had resided in the Conneaut area most of her life.
She was employed by the former Astatic Corporation as an assembler for several years.
Mrs. Carlson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Conneaut.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed wood carving, water colors, and collecting dolls.
Survivors include her husband, Freeman, to whom she had been married
for the past 63 years; a sister, Dorothy Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a brother, Robert Bax of Lake City, Pa.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret O'Brien.
Service is 1 p.m. Monday at the Thompson - Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Todd Regester, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Robert Jarvi. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Calling hours are 11 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
Mary Louise Morgan
ASHTABULA - West 13th Street resident Mary Louise Morgan, 71, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born March 7, 1928, in Bourbon Co., Ky., she was the daughter of James and Lillie (Evans) Williams and had been an Ashtabula resident for the past two years. She previously lived in Cleveland.
Prior to her retirement, she worked many years as a nurse.
Mrs. Morgan was a member of the Peoples Baptist Church and belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and traveling.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Riley of Ashtabula, and Karmyn Miller of Cleveland; a sister, Sudie Mae Williams of Lexington, Ky.; five grandchildren; and numerous great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sherman Morgan; and several brothers and sisters.
Service is noon Monday at the Peoples Baptist Church, 3837 West Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Sam Wells, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeview cemetery, Ashtabula.
Calling hours are from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Dennis C. Newhard
MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. - West 23rd Street resident, Dennis C. Newhard, 71, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at Metro Health Center.
Born May 15, 1928, in Rouseville, Pa., he was the son of the late Harley and Frances (Buckley) Newhard. He was an Erie, Pa. resident most of his life.
He was employed by the Building Maintenance Department of General Telephone Company for more than 20 years, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Newhard enjoyed woodworking and camping with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Twila Hayden Newhard; three sons, Stanley D., Sr. of Millcreek, Charles M. of Sidney, and Rev. Keith B. of Land O' Lakes, Fla.; a sister, Maxine Scholsser of Erie; two brothers, Dorance of Erie, and Durward of Jefferson; a step - brother, Duayne of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; and three great - grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Theola Phillips.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the John Mark Gannon Funeral Home, 2505 Powell Ave., Erie, with Rev. Bruce Sabados officiating. Burial will be in Loomis cemetery, Crawford County, Pa.

George Samuel Rohrbach
KINSMAN - Lakeview Drive resident, Charles E. Rohrbach, 90, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at UPMC - Horizon Hospital, Greenville, Pa.
Born April 10, 1909, in Ozark, he was the son of Charles E. and Sylvia Mae (Turnbull) Rohrbach.
Formerly of Warren and Elyria, Mr. Rohrbach had lived in Kinsman since 1991.
He married
Ethel M. (McGee) on July 13, 1963.
He was employed by Ohio Edison in Warren as a production engineer and later worked at the Edgewater plant in Lorain for 43 years, retiring in 1974.
At age 59, Mr. Rohrbach entered Baldwin - Wallace College, studying geology and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1983, at age 74. At that time, he was the oldest person to have earned a degree from Baldwin - Wallace.
He was a former long - time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Warren; the Ohio Edison's Mens Club; the Edgewater Ohio Edison Retirees Club in Lorain; and the Society for the Preservation of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America.
He enjoyed collecting rocks; making jewelry from semi - precious stones; music; and he sang tenor with the Cascade Chordsmen in Elyria and the Stephen Foster Chorus in Warren.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sandra of Kent, Georgianne Stein of Evergreen, Colo., and Penelope Stratton of Swampscott, Mass.; a stepson, John Matson, Sr., of Kinsman; a sister, Lois Mines of Howland; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great - grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl (Isaacson), in 1961; a daughter, Judith Mather; three brothers, Charles, Floyd, and John; and four sisters, Ethel Rohrbach, Helen Johnson, Anne Sample, and Carol Canfield.
Service is 1 p.m. Tuesday at Baumgardner Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, with Rev. Kenneth J. Kubichek officiating. Burial will be in Kinsman cemetery.

Mose M. Troyer Sr.
NELSON TOWNSHIP - Mose M. Troyer Sr., 76, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Troyer was born April 13, 1923, in Windsor Township, the son of Mose and Lizzie Ann (Mullett) Troyer.
He farmed and was a lifelong resident of Nelson Township.
Survivors include his wife, Jemima (Byler); eight sons, Chris of Orwell, Chester, Joe, and Mose Jr. of Parkman, Eli of Garrettsville, Reuben and Andy of Mesopotamia, and Owen of Pennsylvania; four daughters, Martha Troyer of Garrettsville, Ada Miller and Esther Miller of Parkman, and Sylvia Byler of Michigan; three brothers, Eli of Florida, Albert of Parkman, and Chris of Pennsylvania.; two sisters, Katie Hostetler of Middlefield, and Malinda Hershberger of Wisconsin; 69 grandchildren; and 24 great - grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John.
Service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Joe Troyer residence, 19109 Rutland Road, Garrettsville. Internment will be in Weaver cemetery.

Nancy Lee Yacovella
HAMBDEN TOWNSHIP - Nancy Lee Yacovella, 60, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at Burton Health Care, Burton.
Born Sept. 16, 1939, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of William and Vera Zothner. She was a lifelong resident of Geauga County.
She was employed by the fiscal department of Geauga County Human Services as a clerk.
Ms. Yacovella was an active member of the Church of St. Mary, Chardon.
She enjoyed the ladies group weekend retreats, riding motorcycles, and cherished spending time with her family. She was also an avid fan of car racing, driving 1957 and 1959 Ford's at Dragway 42 and Cloverleaf Speedway.
Survivors include two daughters, Dunetta Hupp of Hambden Township, and Janine of Cleveland; four sons, Bruce Broeker of Berea, David Broeker of Nebraska, Steve Broeker of Seattle, and Phillip Yacovella of Westlake; a sister, Ruth Zothner of Cleveland; and thirteen grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Service is 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon Village, with clergy from the Church of St. Mary officiating.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Velma A. Bender
GENEVA - Velma A. Bender, 95, of South Ridge West, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at Pleasant Ridge Manor, Girard, Pa.
Born Oct. 3, 1904, in Broken Sword, she was the daughter of George and Lera (Smith) LaCrone.
Mrs. Bender was a former employee of Industrial Rayon Inc., Painesville.
A member of Geneva First United Methodist Church, she enjoyed bowling and was an avid baseball fan.
Survivors include a son, Raymond W. of Point Chautauqua, N.Y.; a daughter, Beverly Bender of Geneva; two grandchildren; four great - grandchildren; two sisters, Ona Vanderlip of Lyndhurst and Doris Miller of Toledo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W., in 1946; a daughter, Judith E. Bender, in 1997; three brothers, Clete, Vern and Dalt; and two sisters, Edith Ryan and Ellen Starkey.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kennedy - Billman Funeral Home, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva, with the Rev. Charles Oplinger of Geneva First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery.

Alma I. Deezik
ANDOVER - Alma I. Deezik, 87, of Gates Street died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at Miller Memorial Health Care Center.
She was born March 25, 1912, in Linesville, Pa., the daughter of Gled and Irene (Parmeiter) Stevens.
Mrs. Deezik was a homemaker and lifelong area resident, who retired from Andover Industries in 1976, after 12 years working there as a finishing operator.
In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, yard work and tending to her garden, which had 100 rose bushes.
Survivors include a son, Elwyn D. Tompkins of Brandon, Fla.; a sister, Alice Beers of Linesville, Pa.; a brother, Alton Stevens of Linesville; six grandchildren; and seven great - grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in June 1986; a daughter, Wilda Calhoun; and a sister, Helen Stafford.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Linesville cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
