Max W. Krieg
NORTH PORT, Fla. - Max W. Krieg, 88, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at his home, following a lengthy battle with cancer. He died three days before his birthday.
Born Sept. 21, 1910, in Lahr, Germany, he was the son of Karl and Emma (Ryan) Krieg.
He emigrated to the United States in 1927 with his sister and grandparents to join his mother in the Pittsburgh area.
Mr. Krieg graduated from Pittsburgh High School and later graduated from a trade school, specializing in refrigeration and air conditioning.
He married Anne (Woidtke) Baker on March 16, 1973 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Geneva.
He was employed by the Coca - Cola Co. in Geneva as a refrigeration supervisor in charge of production. He retired in 1974.
After he retired, he and his wife moved to the west coast of Florida, where he lived until his death. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Living Waters in North Port.
Mr. Krieg loved music. He also enjoyed singing, playing the organ and telling jokes.
His hobbies included automobiles and collecting Coca - Cola memorabilia.
Survivors include his beloved wife; a daughter, Barbara Kimball of West Farmington; a son, Robert of Naples, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Marsha Pratt of Geneva; seven grandchildren; and 15 great - grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gertrude; his first wife, Hattie Krieg; and a daughter, Marlene Lange.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 811 South Broadway, Geneva. The Rev. Charles Althoff will officiate.
Friends and family will gather in the church social hall following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the building funds of St. John's Lutheran Church or the Church of the Living Waters, 12475 Chancellor Blvd., North Port, 34287.

Edna P. Waldo
ALBION, Pa. - Edna P. Waldo, 84, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Metro Health Center, Erie, Pa.
Mrs. Waldo was born Dec. 29, 1914, in Keepville, Pa., the daughter of Thomas M. and Pearl A. (Patterson) Randall.
She cleaned house for many people in the Albion and Springfield, Pa., area. She enjoyed crochet and knitting, and was an active member of the Coffee House on the Hill.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Selvy "Sid" B. Waldo, whom she married June 9, 1934; a son, Bruce R. Waldo of Albion; a daughter, Janice E. Smith of Cranesville, Pa.; a sister, Velma Brock of Albion; a brother, Charles Randall of Albion; four grandchildren; and six great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Bushore and Alta Hyde.
Service is 1 p.m. Saturday at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main St., East Springfield, Pa. David M. Shaffer will officiate. Burial will be in Albion cemetery, Albion, Pa.
Calling hours at the funeral home are 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service.

Dorothy L. Baird
PATASKALA - Former Conneaut resident Dorothy L. Baird, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at her daughter's home in Pataskala, following a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 30, 1913, in Cleveland, she was a daughter of James M. and Elizabeth (Whitman) Gibson.
She married Gordon W. Baird on Feb. 3, 1939.
She was a graduate of Conneaut High School and lived in the Conneaut area most of her life.
Mrs. Baird was a homemaker and she and her husband had a dairy farm.
She was a member of the Federated Church in East Springfield, Pa. She also was a former member of the Loyal Bereans at the Amboy United Methodist Church and a former Sunday school teacher.
She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and needlework.
Survivors include three daughters, Joan Kerner and Mary Baird, both of Pataskala and Pat Bowers of Centerville, Ind.; a son, James Baird of Kingsville Township; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great - grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; a granddaughter, Diane Kerner; and a brother, John Gibson.
A Celebration of Life memorial service is 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Amboy United Methodist Church, 554 West Main Road, Conneaut, with the Rev. Michael D. Grant, of the church and Ed Huntley, of the Federated Church, officiating. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends and relatives following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Amboy United Methodist Church, Federated Church, Ashtabula Regional Home Health or the Hospice of Central Ohio.
Arrangements are being handled by the Henderson, Van Atta and Johnston Funeral Service in Kirkersville.

Clifford E. Lord
MAPLE HEIGHTS - Former Geneva resident Clifford E. Lord, 87, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at the Maple Care Center.
Born Oct. 20, 1912, in Geneva, he was a son of Charles A. and Minerva (Leonard) Lord.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle (Schade); a daughter, Audrey M. Coffin of Cleveland; a brother, Neal of Geneva; and a sister, Edna Patrick of Geneva.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard W., Clarence D. and Russell Eugene; and a sister, Vada Hayes Newell.
Funeral is 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Vodrazka Funeral Home, 6505 Brecksville Road, Independence. Burial will be in West Park cemetery in Cleveland.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Paul M. Majewski
HAMBDEN TOWNSHIP - Hambden Township resident Paul Michael Majewski, 77, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township.
Born March 5, 1922, in Cleveland, he was a son of Frank and Mary (Beider) Majewski.
The lifelong Chardon area resident had attended both Chardon and Hambden schools.
He was a driver and dock work for Rimes Trucking in Chardon for 27 years. He retired in 1982. He also was a former employee of the Geauga Farm Bureau.
The Coast Guard veteran served during World War II. He was a seaman first class on duty outside of the United States. He received two bronze stars for the his participation in the invasion of southern France and for special convoy operation in the Atlantic.
Mr. Majewski was an active member of the Amvets and the Polish Legion of American Veterans; a charter and original member of the Color Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6519 in Chardon Township; and from 1939 to 1941, was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps as a bridge builder and firefighter.
He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Browns play, camping, bowling and the cross - country trip he took with his nephew Frank.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary and Irene Majewski of Canton and two brothers, Bruno of Texas and Vincent of Kirtland.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Stella and Lottie Majewski and a brother, Frank.
Services are pending. Arrangements are being handled by the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon. Burial will be in Hambden cemetery in Hambden Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 6519, 752 Water St., Chardon 44024.

Harrison H. Rogers
EUCLID - Cleveland resident Harrison H. Rogers, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Euclid Meridian Hospital.
Born Oct. 9, 1912, in Brooksville, Miss., he was a son of Hunter and Sally (Reece) Rogers.
He was a Cleveland resident for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Cleveland.
The Army veteran had served in World War II.
He enjoyed movies and spending time at various parks.
Survivors include a daughter, Juanita Lewis of Ashtabula; five grandchildren; eight great - grandchildren; and a great - great - grandchild.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Brock) and a brother, Emmitt.
Funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday at the family grave site in Evergreen cemetery in Pierpont Township, with the Rev. Alfred Lewis, pastor of the Union Missionary Baptist Church, officiating.
No calling hours will be observed.
Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, is in charge of arrangements.

Patrick A. Walsh
EUCLID - Patrick A. Walsh, 91, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at the Hospice of the Western Reserve in Euclid.
Born Nov. 26, 1908, in Spalding, Neb., he was a son of Michael and Margaret Mary (Burke) Walsh.
In 1930, he moved from Nebraska to Cleveland and to Chardon in 1952.
He worked as a plant superintendent at Coit Road Fisher Body for 38 years, retiring in 1969. He also was a lifelong farmer.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Chardon.
He was a 55 - year member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
He enjoyed farming and raising Hungarian vizsla dogs.
Survivors include four sons, Daniel and Christopher, both of Chardon and Michael and Edward, both of Cleveland; two daughters, Patricia Corrigan of Cleveland and Sheila Grantham of Chardon; 23 grandchildren; 26 great - grandchildren; and a sister, Angela Reilly of Spalding, Neb.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margueriete; a daughter, Joan McDonald; a grandson, Gerald Walsh; a great - grandson, Mark Walsh Jr.; a brother, John; and three sisters, Mary O'Donnell, Eileen MacManaman and Regina Rease.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, 401 North St., Chardon, with the Rev. Thomas C. Gilles, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in All Souls cemetery in Chardon.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th St., Euclid 44119 or St. Mary's Building Fund, 401 North St., Chardon 44024.

William M. Finegan
CONNEAUT - William M. Finegan, 49, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at University Hospitals, Cleveland, following a short illness.
The son of William and Maryann (Tallon) Finegan, he was born Oct. 16, 1950, in Cleveland.
A 1968 graduate of Lakewood High School, he worked 23 years as a car foreman with the Norfolk Southern Railroad. He also worked a short time at General Aluminum in Conneaut as an inspector in the foundry.
A Moose Club member, he enjoyed hunting and bowling. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry; sons William Finegan of Andover and Chipper Atkins of Conneaut; daughters Shelley of Cleveland, Carrie of Fort Myers, Fla., and Tina Lick of Conneaut; and four grandchildren, Matthew, Taylor, Cortney Atkins and Alexis Lick.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1998.
An evening vigil service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Raymond Thomas of St. Mary and St. Frances Cabrini churches officiating.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Conneaut Moose Club conducting fraternal service at 6 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to cancer research. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Charlotte L. Marks
CONNEAUT - Charlotte L. Marks, 85, of West Main Road, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of Clarence and Caroline (Allds) Kuhn, she was born Aug. 10, 1914, in Conneaut and lived there her entire life.
Mrs. Marks was employed by the former Goldette Co., and worked several years at the Conneaut General Electric Base Plant. A licensed practical nurse, she also worked several years at the Erie Geriatric Center, Girard, Pa.
A member of the Conneaut Church of Christ, she was very active with the church's clothing bank. She was a member of the Amboy Happy Oldsters and was an accomplished seamstress.
Her hobbies included sewing needlecrafts, working crossword puzzles and growing plants and flowers.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Janda of Conneaut; sisters Edna Literati of Conneaut and Helen Pratt of Kingsville Township; and three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Ryan and Kristen Janda.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and brothers Hubert and Kenneth Kuhn.
Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Thompson - Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with Tim Kraus, pastor of the Conneaut Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Church of Christ.

Paul Martin Smith
KINGSVILLE TOWNSHIP - Paul Martin Smith, 100, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
The son of C. Henry and Bertha (Hibler) Smith, he was born Dec. 14, 1899, in Conneaut. He was reared in Ashtabula County, then settled in Kirtland for many years. In 1970, he moved to Independence, Kan., where he lived for 18 years. He moved to Lamoni, Iowa, for two years, before returning to Ashtabula County in July 1990.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and was known for making and playing wooden spoons.
Early in his working life, he worked on the Ashtabula County Nursing Home farm and on the docks in Conneaut. He also worked as a carpenter and builder in the Cleveland area for many years. .
Survivors include daughters Donna Brooks of Westlake and Dorothy L. Harkrader of Lamoni; sons Arthur Lee Bricker III of Cleveland and Daniel Smith of Strongsville; 12 grandchildren; 18 great - grandchildren; and a brother, George B. Smith of Sheffield Township.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Virginia C. (Webbe) on Sept. 2, 1994, and also by a sister, Beatrice Smith McCroskey, and a brother, Orlando S. Smith.
Service and entombment will be at noon Wednesday in the Mausoleum Chapel at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, 11521 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Elder Kenneth Sowers Sr., of Prince of Peace Church, Mentor, will officiate.
Calling hour is 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Davis Trust 100 Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby.
The family requests that memorial tributes be in the form of contributions to the charity of one's choice.

Roy Ware
CHARDON - Roy "Junior" Ware, 75, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Chardon Center.
The son of Roy and Mattie (Linger) Ware, he was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Horner W.Va. He had lived in the area for 56 years.
Mr. Ware was employed as a laborer at Sas Rubber Co., Painesville, from 1963 to 1973. Before that, he was employed at Diamond Shamrock, beginning in 1952.
Survivors include his wife, Doris (Hutchinson); daughters Patricia, Donna and Kelly Ware, and Jami Powell, all of Chardon; and son Patrick Walsh of Chardon; sister Freda Presto; and stepchildren, Paul and Edward Little and Luann Miles of Chardon.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Arberta (Huffman); brothers French and Howard; and a sister, Helen Taylor.
Graveside service is 10 a.m. Thursday at Hambden cemetery, with the Rev. E. Thomas Boytar officiating.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon.

John C. Mounger
ERIE, Pa. - John Charles Mounger, 43, of Seven Hills Road, Plymouth Township, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at the Erie Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The son of Cecil and Julia (Zytowiecky) Mounger, he was born Nov. 4, 1956, in Phoenix, Ariz.
He had in the Erie area for most of his life before moving to Florida 12 years ago.
While in Florida, he worked as a nursing home supervisor.
An Army veteran, he served in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Mounger enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his mother of Ashtabula; sons Mark Aaron of Florida, John of Gainesville, Ga. and Matthew of Hiawassee, Ga.; daughter Genesis Lynn Mounger of Florida; a granddaughter; brothers Cecil Jr. of Cleveland Heights and Allen of Hudson, N.H.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie VA Medical Center, 135 E. 38th St., Erie, Pa. 16504.
Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth M. Wareham
GREENSBURG, Pa. - Former Conneaut resident Ruth M. Wareham, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital.
The daughter of George and Margaret (Anderson) McFarland, she was born May 26, 1914, in Greensburg.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Greensburg.
Survivors include four daughters, Jean Waugaman of Greensburg, Florence Pearch of Little River, S.C., Ruth Doty of Canonsburg, Pa., and Betty Campbell of Geneva; eight grandchildren; six great - grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul McFarland of Greensburg and Thomas McFarland of Gibsonia, Pa.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Ray; her second husband, James Wareham; a brother, John McFarland; and three sisters, Josephine Good, Helen King and Florence Good.
Service was held Monday at the Coshey - Nicholson Funeral Home, 319 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, with the Rev. John E. Duvall officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
