Gary L. Buck
JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP - Gary L. Buck, 53, of Chapel Road, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 1999, at home, following a short battle with cancer.
The son of Lawrence H. and Elizabeth (Wesolek) Buck, he was born Sept. 8, 1946, in Sistersville, W. Va. He lived in Ashtabula until he entered the service. He attended Kent State University and lived in Copley, in Little Neck, N.Y., and in Moorpark, Calif. He moved to Jefferson in 1989.
He served with the Navy in the Vietnam War.
Locally, Mr. Buck was a human resource manager for Meese - Obritron - Dunn Plastics Inc., Ashtabula. For several years, he owned Daddy's Country Collectibles in Jefferson.
A member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, he also belonged to the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and BPOE Elks Lodge 208. He was active in the Jefferson Area Girls Softball League, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing and golf.
Survivors include his wife, the former Cheryl A. Chubb, whom he wed May 12, 1979, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Ashtabula; three children, Jason A. of Jacksonville, Fla., and Joshua P. and Meredith O. Buck, both of Jefferson; his parents, Lawrence H. Buck of Hilton Head, S.C., and Elizabeth Nutter of Paducah, Ky.; and sisters Georgianna Sweatt of Tucson, Ariz. and Candy Hausman of Palm Harbor, Fla.
Memorial service is 6 p.m. Monday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 4901 Main Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Edward Schultz, interim rector officiating. Entombment of ashes will be in St. Peter's Church columbarium.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson.
Contributions in Mr. Buck's memory may be made to the St. Peter's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
Zelma L. Hicks
VERO BEACH, Fla. - Zelma L. Hicks, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at Integrated Health Services of Vero Beach following a long illness.
The daughter of Charles and Sadie (Hunter) Horne, she was born July 25, 1913, in Jimtown, Pa.
Survivors include her husband, Donald, to whom she was married
65 years; sons Darryl and John, both of Vero Beach; grandsons Craig Hicks of New Kensington, Pa., and Brian Hicks of Hilliard; and five great - grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Horne.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery, Fort Pierce, Fla.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Diabetes Foundation.
Arrangements are being handled by the Cox - Gifford Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
Richard L. Graham
DUNELLEN, N.J. - Richard L. Graham, 68, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at his home.
The son of Ellsworth H. and Dollie Chamerlin Graham, he was born Jan. 5, 1932. He lived in the Somerset Section of Franklin Township before moving to Dunellen 20 years ago.
He was a security officer at the Doris Dwhe Estates for 15 years before going to work as driver at Barker Bus Co. He also drove buses for the town of Dunellen and worked in the community with the handicapped.
Mr. Graham was awarded a Purple Heart while serving with the Army during the Korean War. He also served in the Marine Corps Reserves.
He was a member of American Legion Post 119 and a past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5479.
He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Polish American Falcon Club in Dunellen.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Browsky Graham; daughters Debra Dellecave of Piscataway, N.J., Linda Graham, Cynthia Slatterback, both of Somerset, N.J., and Colleen Graham of Bound Brook, N.J.; son Shawn Graham of Bound Brook; sisters Dawn Kothe and Wilma Pudder, both of Geneva; brother Francis Graham of Mayville, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richy Graham; a brother, Arthur Graham.
Services were held at the Conroy Funeral Home, 21 East Second St., Bound Brook, N.J.
Wiley L. Martin
ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP - Wiley L. Martin, 47, of Court Street, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at his home following a lengthy illness.
The son of Revel and Verneta (Lyons) Martin, he was born Dec. 17, 1951, in Ashtabula and had lived in the area his entire life.
A 1970 graduate of Harbor High School, he was employed at RMI in Ashtabula until it closed. While there, he was local president of the Chemical and Oil Workers Union. Later, he drove a truck for Greenleaf Motor Express.
He was a fan of bluegrass and country music and played several instruments.
Survivors include his mother; his wife, Carolyn (Vevers) Martin, whom he married
Sept. 8, 1988; daughters Constance M. Martin and Michelle R. Martin, both of Ashtabula, Laura K. Meier of Geneva, Katharine P. Martin and Sarah B. Martin, both at home; and two grandchildren, Alica A. Smith and Christopher Lee Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Sharon Gaskell, in May 1999.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Ross - Billman Funeral Home, a Family Care Group Affiliate, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts of the Revival Center Church of God officiating.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mary T. Bush
ANDOVER - Mary T. Bush, 84, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, in the St. Joseph Medical Center.
Born Aug. 6, 1915, in Georgia, she was the daughter of Wiley and Mary (Hodge) Hampton.
She was a resident of the Jefferson area for the past 26 years, coming from Cleveland. She was a former four - year resident of the Jefferson Geriatric Center and for the past six months, was a resident of the Miller Memorial Nursing Home in Andover.
Mrs. Bush was a member of the Central Missionary Baptist Church.
She enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing bingo, and the lottery. She raised chickens and other small farm animals while living on Clay Road.
Survivors include two sisters, Angel Smith and Byrdella Dunlap, both of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews, including John and Maxine of Jefferson, who cared for Mrs. Bush.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harrison; and a sister, Elizabeth Hill.
Service is 2 p.m. Friday at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Dave Chappell of the Central Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in South Denmark cemetery.
Calling hours are 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Bert E. DeGarmo
TITUSVILLE, Fla. - Bert E. DeGarmo, 31, of Titusville died Sept. 13, 1999, at Parrish Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 30, 1967, in Jamestown, N.Y.
Mr. DeGarmo was a barber and most recently was employed as a home contractor. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. He attended West Side Baptist Church in Titusville.
Survivors include his parents, Donna and Fredric DeGarmo of Ashtabula; a brother, Bret DeGarmo of Stevensville, Md.; grandparents, James and Wanda DeGarmo of Ashtabula, Lorene Roath of Titusville and Doris Corstange of Jamestown; and two half - brothers, Brian Solomon of Florida and Jeffery Philbrick of Jamestown, N.Y.
Graveside service and burial were held Sept. 20 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Titusville. North Brevard Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Betty Jane Foltz
WILMINGTON, N.C. - Betty Jane Foltz, 76, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Cypress Point Rehabilitation Center.
Born Sept. 3, 1923, in Conneaut, she was the daughter of the late Irwin and Pearl (Warden) Strickland. She had lived in Saybrook Township and was a lifetime area resident, before moving to North Carolina 18 months ago.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph M.; two sons, Richard Fitzgerald of Wilmington, and Dale Fitzgerald of Lebanon, Ind.; a daughter, Patricia Helsel of Ravenna; nine grandchildren; three great - grandchildren; a sister, Esther Wight of Ashtabula; and a brother, David Strickland of Warren.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Route 20, North Kingsville, with Rev. Kevin Horrigan of Prospect Presbyterian Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery and at the Ross - Billman Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, which is in charge of arrangements.
Naomi L. Morrison
PIERPONT - Naomi L. Morrison, 58, of Route 167, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at her home.
Born July 6, 1941, in St. Clairsville, she was the daughter of Lewis and Kathryn (Banfield) Sayre and had been a Pierpont resident since 1972, coming from Diamond.
She married
her husband, Wayne L., on July 7, 1962, in Tionesta, Pa.
Mrs. Morrison attended Pierpont Presbyterian Church.
Her hobbies included reading and gardening.
She is survived by her husband; her father, Lewis Sayer of Southington; three children, Debbie K. Stokes and Jeff W. both of Monroe Township, and Patty J. Simpson of Plymouth Township; seven grandchildren, Jason, Josh, Adam, Kenny, Katie, Kimberly, and Emily; one sister, Nancy Sizemore of Mechanicsville, Va.; and two brothers, Stan Sayre of Mantua, and Don Sayre of Southington.
She was preceded in death by her mother and one brother, Kenneth Sayre.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pierpont Presbyterian Church, 71 Route 7, Pierpont. The Rev. Susanna Carter, interim pastor of Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church of Ashtabula, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Pierpont Township.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Childs - Williams Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 96 Route 7, Pierpont, and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.

Jack C. Quinn
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Jack C. Quinn, 76, formerly of Conneaut and Erie, Pa., died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999.
Born March 31, 1923, in Conneaut, he was the son of Laura (Field) Patterson and Frank Andrew Quinn.
He was married
to Nelma (Nieminen) for 57 years. They had lived in Florida since 1979.
He graduated from Conneaut High School and Penn State University and was an Army sergeant during World War II.
Mr. Quinn was a member of the Conneaut Elks Club and Tyrian Lodge 362 Free and Accepted Masons, Erie.
He was employed by WMRN, in Marion, as chief radio announcer; WICA, in Ashtabula; and at WERC and WLEU as chief radio announcer. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1978, after 30 years of service.
Mr. Quinn enjoyed boating, traveling, antiques and, most importantly, his family.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sharon Ryalls of Delray Beach, Fla., and Susan Lett of Drexel Hill, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Daniel Lett of Hoonah, Ark., Kirstin and Jeffrey Lett of Drexel Hill, Pa., and Katherine Ryalls of Delray Beach.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Violet Adelle McDermot, Bernice Gretchen Dagett, Charlotte, Mary Louise Grice and Dorothy Quinn; and five brothers, Andrew Patterson, Donald Wallace, Kenneth Frank, Willard, and Richard.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Thompson - Smith Funeral Home at a later date.
Annabelle Havens Thompson
BRUNSWICK - Annabelle Havens Thompson, 81, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at Village Square Nursing Home, Orwell, following a brief illness.
Born Feb. 19, 1918, in Windham, she was the daughter of John and Ethel (Root) Havens. She lived in Brunswick for 35 years and was a former resident of Freeport, Fla.
She married
Arnell Benard Thompson on Feb. 22, 1935.
Mrs. Thompson was employed as a letter carrier in Hinckley for 12 years.
Survivors include three sons, Maxwell of Sommerfield, Fla., John of Parkman, and James of Garrettsville; six daughters, Pauline Kline and Linda Smith, both of Freeport, Fla., Wanda Weigert of Claridon, Vesta Hamrick of Cowen, W.Va., Elda Clutter of Diana, W.Va., and JoAnn Gingerich of North Bloomfield; a sister, Iris Trask of Mesopotamia; 49 grandchildren; 60 great - grandchildren; and eight great - great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnell, who died on June 29, 1986; two sons, Bruce and Robert; a daughter, Bernice Hill; and two sisters, Helen Orchard and Verl DeHon.
Service is noon Saturday at the Mallory - DeHaven - Carlson Golden Rule Funeral Home, Garrettsville, with Pastor D. Ray Mullet officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Hiram Rapids.
Ernest W. Yard Jr.
MADISON - Ernest W. Yard Jr., 64, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at University Hospitals in Cleveland.
He was born June 15, 1935, in Kirtland, the son of Ernest W. Yard Sr. and Hazel (Washburn) Yard. He married
the former Lillian Lenore Jupp May 18, 1957, in Clovis, N.M.
Mr. Yard was a loom operator and foreman at Lindsay Wire Co., Mentor. He also worked at Chapman Vault Co. for 25 years.
An Air Force veteran, he enjoyed flea markets, tinkering and visiting people.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Ann Incorvati of Wiesbaden, Germany; two sons, Michael and Russell of Madison, Daniel of Lexington, Ohio, Douglas of Stow and Dennis of Frederick, Md.; 11 grandchildren; four sisters, Bernette Towne and Lois Yard, both of Mentor, Pauline Phinney of California and Lorene Peck of Geneva; and a brother, William of Oregon.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Maybelle Gunton, Eleanor Eyer and Bernice Yard; and two brothers, Stanley and Robert Yard.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. The Rev. Luigi Miola of Immaculate Conception Church will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Constance P. Keil
ANDOVER - Constance P. Keil, 65, of Hickory Avenue died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at her home.
Born Feb. 20, 1934, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Frank J. and Lenore (Surdock) Gorgon. She married
Joseph E. Keil Oct. 5, 1957.
A former Wickliffe resident, Mrs. Keil moved to Andover in 1993.
She was employed as a bookkeeper at Pine Ridge Country Club, Wickliffe, for five years. She also worked at Shoregate Bowling Lanes in Willowick for 15 years.
She was a member of Euclid Lutheran Church and a one - time bowling instructor at Lakeland Community College.
Her hobbies included crafts, gardening, sewing and knitting.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Stacy A. Bosco and Tammy J. Mastrangelo, both of Eastlake; two sons, Larry A. of Eastlake and Scott A. of Chesterland; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial service is 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Euclid Lutheran Church, 431 E. 260th St., Euclid, with Pastor Robert Berger officiating. Scattering of ashes will follow.
There will be no calling hours.
