Philip W. Sanford
CONNEAUT - Philip W. Sanford, 62, of West Main Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at his home, following a brief illness.
Born May 11, 1937, in Conneaut, he was the son of Warren P. and Ethel (Wible) Sanford.
A lifelong Conneaut resident, Mr. Sanford was employed for 27 years at RMI, Ashtabula, before establishing a used car dealership, Sanford Auto Sales, in 1992. He coached baseball in the Conneaut Local Youth Organization, and played in the Over - 40 Softball League. He was an avid basketball player, and enjoyed his family and motorcycling.
Survivors include his wife, Kelly L. (Ingersoll), whom he wed Jan. 3, 1995; two sons, Mark P. of Charlottesville, Va., and Randy S. of Painesville; seven sisters, Jackie Day of Punta Gorda, Fla., Carol Stump, Donna Fuller, Sandra Best and Jean Sandford of Conneaut, Pat Wadsworth of North Kingsville, and Sally Andrews of North Little Rock, Ark.; three brothers, Harland of Lantana, Fla., and Jack and Ed of Conneaut; and three grandchildren, Kristen, Mark and Joe, of Charlottesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at the Marcy Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Roger P. Hogle of South Ridge Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made either to Hospice of Ashtabula County or Dr. Donald Anthony's Cancer Research Fund, Ireland Cancer Center, University Hospital, 2945 Adelbert Road, Cleveland 44106.
Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

W. Charlotte Shull
FAIRVIEW TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Former East Springfield, Pa., resident Charlotte Shull, 80, a resident of Manchester Presbyterian Lodge, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999.
Born Nov. 3, 1918, in Meadville, Pa., she was the daughter of Bert N. and Addie (Crookham) Randall.
Mrs. Shull retired in 1981 after 20 years working as a licensed practical nurse with Pleasant Ridge Manor, Girard. She also worked as an LPN at the Crawford County Home and the Geneva Hospital, Geneva, Pa. She was a member of the Federated Church, East Springfield, where she was active in the Golden Circle. She was an officer at Cherry Hill Grange and, on various days of the week, would drive many of her friends to area senior centers, where she enjoyed making lap robes.
She also enjoyed baking bread and pies for church functions, gardening and canning her own vegetables.
Survivors include two sons, Paul E. of Las Vegas, Nev., and Max Allen of West Springfield, Pa.; two daughters, Esther L. Henry of Indianapolis, Ind., and Wilda C. Roney of Erie, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great - grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Max E., on Oct. 17, 1987; a son, Alfred; and a brother, Clarence Randall.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main St., East Springfield, with the Rev. Robert Klingler of West Springfield United Methodist Church and the Rev. Marvin Davis of the Federated Church officiating. Burial will be in Mumford Chapel cemetery, Cochranton, Pa.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Florence M. Telling
COLUMBUS - Florence M. Telling, 88, died Oct. 3, 1999, at Mount Carmel East, Columbus.
Born Nov. 13, 1910, in Cleveland, she moved to Columbus in 1969.
Mrs. Telling was a clerk for former Geneva City Manager Bob Salisbury, retiring in 1968.
Survivors include a daughter, Dixie Lee Fuller, of Columbus; four grandchildren; and eight great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert J., in 1958; and two sons, H. James in 1972 and Donald S. in 1976.
Graveside service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen cemetery, Geneva.

C. Meribah Thompson
GENEVA - Clara Meribah Thompson, 75, of Oakridge Drive, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
Born Jan. 29, 1924, in Jefferson, she was the daughter of Darius B. and Emma (Wolfe) Conrad. She was a lifetime area resident.
A 1942 graduate of Dorset High School, she enjoyed needlework and baking, and won many ribbons in both hobbies at the Ashtabula County Fair.
Survivors include four daughters, Diana Hietapelto of Geneva, Cheri - Ann Brown of Jefferson, Rene Thompson of Bowling Green, and Lorraine Dennis of Dorset; seven grandchildren; five great - grandchildren; six brothers, Milan of Florida, Robert, Graydon and Wilmer of Geneva, Gordon, formerly of Ashtabula, and Danny of Jefferson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard E., in 1984; and a brother, Stanley Conrad.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday at the Kennedy - Billman Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva, with the Rev. Larry Wade of Park Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Mechanicsville cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Franklin Harbert
PERRY ­ A Masonic service for Franklin Harbert, 65, who died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, will be held at 8:45 p.m. Friday.
The service will be held following calling hours at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison.

John Boy Henson
MCDOWELL, Ky. - John Boy Henson, 64, of McDowell, Ky., died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at his home.
The son of Jeff and Elizabeth (Osborne) Henson, he was born Sept. 7, 1935, in Lion, Ky.
He was employed with the New York Central Railroad, Inland Container Corp., Carl Zaire Co. and Racer Tannery, all of Ashtabula. He was a member of the Little Rose Regular Baptist Church in McDowell.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Bryant Henson; sons Gary John Henson, Mark Henson and Matthew Henson, all of McDowell, Stewart Henson of Melvin, Ky., and Crandall Henson, Fairborn; daughters Velma Lee Henson of McDonnell and Linda Sue Meade of Weeksbury, Ky.; brothers Audrey Henson of Ashtabula, Jeff Dean Henson and Sandy Henson, both of Morehead, Ky.; sisters Alma Caudill and Pat Cellitti, both of Ashtabula and Pam Schafer of Chesapeake; and 11 grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donnie.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Old Beaver Regular Baptist Church in Minnie, Ky.
Burial will be in the Greenbury cemetery in McDowell.
Calling hours are after 1 p.m. today at the church.
The Hall Funeral Home of Martin, Ky., is in charge of arrangements.

Esther L. Johnson
ASHTABULA - Esther L. Johnson, 79, formerly of Lake Avenue, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Carington Park nursing center.
The daughter of Charles and Victoria (Forbs) Lundy, she was born Oct. 1, 1920, at Camp Bay, Andros Island, Bahamas. She had lived in Ashtabula since 1951.
She worked as a cook at Ashtabula General Hospital, at Swallows Restaurant and at Carlisles department store, from where she retired in 1980.
Her favorite saying was, "You have a better one."
Mrs. Johnson was an active member of Peoples Baptist Church, Ashtabula, as well as several auxiliaries, including Nurture for Baptist Churches, church school, Missionary Society, senior usher board, gospel choir chorus, pastor's aide and the new building fund choir.
Survivors include her adopted daughter, Willietta Bunch of Ashtabula; grandsons Milton and Jarrod Bunch and three great - grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Art, on Dec. 31, 1963, and brothers Charles and Joseph Lundy.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Peoples Baptist Church, 3837 West Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. George Lampkin, pastor of Greater Promise Baptist Church, Conneaut, officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood cemetery.
Calling hours are from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Peoples Baptist Church Building Fund.
Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, is handling arrangements.

Wiley L. Martin
ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP - Wiley L. Martin, 47, of Court Street, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at his home following a lengthy illness.
The son of Revel and Verneta (Lyons) Martin, he was born Dec. 17, 1951, in Ashtabula and had lived in the area his entire life.
A 1970 graduate of Harbor High School, he was employed at RMI in Ashtabula until it closed. While there, he was local president of the Chemical and Oil Workers Union. Later, he drove a truck for Greenleaf Motor Express.
He was a fan of bluegrass and country music and played several instruments.
Survivors include his mother; his wife, Carolyn (Vevers) Martin, whom he married Sept. 8, 1988; daughters Constance M. Martin and Michelle R. Martin, both of Ashtabula, Laura K. Meier of Geneva, Katharine P. Martin and Sarah B. Martin, both at home; and two grandchildren, Alica A. Smith and Christopher Lee Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Sharon Gaskell, in May 1999.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Ross - Billman Funeral Home, a Family Care Group Affiliate, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts of the Revival Center Church of God officiating.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nicholas P. Tate Sr.
ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Nicholas P. Tate Sr., 91, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2000.
Survivors include sons Raimondi of North Kingsville and Nicholas P. Jr. of Elizabeth Township; four grandchildren; and a brother, James Teti.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth.
A blessing service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles Borough, McKeesport, Pa. Burial will follow in New St. Joseph cemetery, North Versailles, Pa.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

Ada Mae Bender
WILLIAMSFIELD - Memorial services for Ada Mae Bender (Taylor), 89, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the West Williamsfield Congregational Church.
Mrs. Bender died Aug. 28, 1999, at Crandall Medical Center. She had lived at the Copeland Oaks Retirement Home in Sebring.
Mrs. Bender, the only child of Peter and Minnie Taylor, was born Feb. 10, 1910 at West Williamsfield.
She was a life member of both Ohio and Florida Teachers association. She served as a counselor at Largo High School for 17 years, retiring in 1972.
She became a P.E.O. member in Chapter X in Albuquerque, N.M., in 1954. While living at Carolina Trace, Sanford, N.C., she was a member of the San Lee P.E.O. group, Women's Club, Jonesboro Methodist Woman's Society, and acting librarian of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include one step - son, Richard of Bedford; one step - daughter, Marilyn Shankland of Gaithersberg, Md.; seven grandchildren; and two great - grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the West Williamsfield Congregational Church.

Mary M. Branden
ASHTABULA - Mary M. Branden (Rollow), 83, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999.
She was an Ashtabula resident for 30 years, but had lived in Akron for the past 11 years.
Mrs. Branden was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Cuyahoga Falls, and the American Association of Retired Persons. She was active in fund raising for the YMCA, the United Appeal, the March of Dimes, the Ashtabula Fine Arts Center, and her church.
Survivors include her second husband, Herbert H.; one daughter, Mary Ann Potts of Stow; one son, James S. McGrevey of Colorado; one sister, Virginia Mordas of Akron; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Dunn - Quigley - Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls. Interment will be at Holy Cross cemetery in Akron.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Anne A. Kozlevcar
NORTH BLOOMFIELD - Additional calling hours for Anne A. Yerman Kozlevcar will be held from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church, Orwell. Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. The Rev. Gregory Fedor will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery.
Regular calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Paine Funeral Home, 140 E. Main St., Orwell.
Mrs. Kozlevcar, 90, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, in Greene Township.

Lois Loe Marr Mullen
MEADVILLE, Pa. - Lois Loe Marr Mullen, 88, of Rogers Ferry Road, died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautville, Pa., following a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 10, 1910, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Ira and Carrie (Sayler) Loe.
She married Thurman Marr on March 30, 1933, and he died in 1979. She subsequently married Neil Mullen in April 1980. She lived much of her life in Andover, and the remainder of her life in Meadville.
Mrs. Mullen was a homemaker and civic leader.
A strong advocate of education, she was a charter member of the Andover Public Library. She served on its board in the late 1930s, and continuously promoted the library's development.
She served as a deaconess of the First Congregation Church; town treasurer; was past matron of the Easter Star; and a member of the United Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer.
Survivors include her husband, Neil; two sons Charles David of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., and Douglas Marr of Goshen, Conn.; twin sisters, Lyla Reeves of Bradenton, Fla., and Lyda Sisson of Madison; seven grandchildren; and 10 great - grandchildren.
Service is Friday at a time to be announced, at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. The Rev. Mary Katherine Crom, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Andover.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Andover Public Library, P.O. Box 1210, 142 W. Main St., Andover, 44003.

Alex G. Nagy
NEWBURY TOWNSHIP - Alex G. Nagy, 79, died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Geauga Regional Hospital.
Mr. Nagy, the son of Alex and Agnes (Szokocs) Nagy, was a resident of Newbury Township for 20 years.
He was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Bihar, Romania. He worked as a supervisor for Cleveland Twist Drill, retiring in 1983.
He married the former Dorothy M. Harcher on June 29, 1942 in Wauseon.
He and his wife were part owners of the House of Nagy Restaurant in Parkman, since 1956.
Mr. Nagy served with Army Air Corps, during World War II. He enjoyed softball, golf and bowling for the Cleveland Twist Drill company teams.
He was a member of Village Lodge 271, F.&A.M., Clover Chapter 201, both of Burton. He was a member of the Lake/Geauga Scottish Rite, and of the Western Reserve Yacht Club in Fairport Harbor.
Survivors include his wife; son Gary of Parma Heights.; two grandchildren; and two great - grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Elek.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon Village. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery, Munson Township.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Arthur C. Pence
CONNEAUT - Arthur C. Pence, 90, of Fifield Avenue, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 18, 1909, in New Bethlehem, Pa., he was the son of George V. and Clara Ina Hines Pence. He lived in the Conneaut area for 45 years. He previously lived in Worthington, Pa.
He was employed by the Michigan Limestone Company as an auto mechanic and plant electrician for 35 years.
Mr. Pence enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include a son, Clarence; a daughter - in - law, Shirley of Euless, Texas; four grandchildren, Brian of Bedford, Texas, Larry of Wyandotte, Mich., Peggy Reed of Bolivar, Mo., and Lori Hoffman of Shepherd, Mich.; and nine great - grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Josephine; a sister, Evelyn Delp; and two brothers, Albert and Raymond.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday at the Thompson - Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut. The Rev. Robert Brooks, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in East Springfield cemetery, East Springfield, Pa.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
