Lester E. Yoder
PARKMAN TOWNSHIP - Lester E. Yoder, 81, of Reeves Road, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000 at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon.
The son of Elmer and Katie Ann (Miller) Yoder, he was born Jan. 7, 1919, in Parkman Township where he was a lifelong resident.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Survivors include his wife, Katie Ann (Raber), whom he married
March 14, 1974; sons Elmer of Middlefield and Gideon of W. Va.; daughters Katie Ann Miller and Ada Druhot both of Middlefield, Saloma Byler of Williamsfield, and Sarah Bolyard of Florida; 22 grandchildren; brothers Sam and Ervin both of Middlefield; and sisters Anna Gingerich of Fredericktown, Clara Miller of Troy Township, Katie Ann Miller of Middlefield, Elizabeth Yoder of Orwell, Mary Byler of West Farmington, Ada Byler of Spartansburg, Pa., and Lovina Wengerd of Clymer, N.Y.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Wengerd; son Samuel; sister Edna; and brothers Dan and Homer.
Service is 12:30 p.m. today at 17740 Reeves Road, Parkman Township, with the Rev. Bishop Dan M. Yoder officiating. Burial will be in Bundysburg cemetery in Parkman Township.
Visitation is anytime at the residence.

Constance Lee Emerson
GENEVA - Adams Avenue resident Constance Lee Emerson, 84, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
Born Aug. 9, 1915, in New Castle, Pa., she was the daughter of Nicholas and Rose (Scrazzo) Toscano. She moved to Ashtabula this year and was previously a Geneva area resident for 44 years.
She married
Carl on July 19, 1955.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Geneva Area Schools as the head custodian for 24 years, and earned her boiler operator's license. She was previously head cook for Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
Mrs. Emerson loved to cook, work, and spend time with her family.
She was proud to have raised her grandson, Greg.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Patricia Donato of Ashtabula, and Connie Lee McCullough; five grandchildren, Mike, Gregory, Angela, Lisa, and Lori; two great - grandchildren, Alyssa and Miranda; one sister, Louise Valentine of New Castle, Pa.; and two brothers, Harry "Kaiser" Toscano of New Castle, and Chester Toscano of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Phillip Miller, Pastor of St. Joseph Church, officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Nellie E. Guilliam
TROY TOWNSHIP - Nellie E. Guilliam, 84, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Burton Home Health Care Center.
Born Dec. 14, 1914, in Mantua, she was the daughter of Alva and Mary (Justice) Guilliam. She was a lifelong area resident.
She was employed by Sohio as an accountant. She also worked at the Welshfield Inn.
She was a member of the Troy Congregational Church; 55 - Plus Club of Parkman; and the Ladies Aide in Troy.
Miss Guilliam enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her niece, Jeanne Portman of Mantua.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leroy and John; and two sisters, Ethlyn Gosling and Margaret Rafie.
Graveside service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Westlawn cemetery, Mantua Township, with the Rev. Gerald Saunders officiating.
There are no calling hours.
Arrangements are being made by the Mallory - DeHaven - Carlson Golden Rule Funeral Home, Garrettsville.

Meta E. Holzhauser
ANDOVER - Meta E. Holzhauser, 86, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at the Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautville, Pa.
Born Dec. 23, 1912, in Penn Line, Pa., she was the daughter of August H. and Marie (Thoman) Scheppelmann.
She married
Fred L. Holzhauser on Jan. 1, 1973, in Richmond Center.
Mrs. Holzhauser was a housewife and mother.
She was a member of Penn Line Church of Christ, and Richmond Grange 135. She served with the Ashtabula County Home Extension in Jefferson, and was active with the 4 - H in Richmond.
She enjoyed gardening and floral arranging.
Survivors include her husband; two children, Sidney A. VanCourt of Columbus, and Mary Jane Huskonen of Brecksville; a sister, Dorothy Williams of Linesville, Pa.; six grandchildren; and eight great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clyde VanCourt; two sisters, Marie Toole and Elfrieda McComb; and two brothers, Heinrich and Wilhem Scheppelmann.
Memorial service is 11 a.m Saturday at Penn Line Church of Christ, with Pastor David B. Drake officiating. Burial will be in Richmond cemetery.

Gladys M. Trask Janke
GENEVA - East Liberty Street resident Gladys M. Trask Janke, 101, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
Born Aug. 6, 1898, in Geneva, she was the daughter of George and Jennifer (Davis) Wharram and had lived in Geneva all of her life.
She was employed by Tieing of Myrtle and was a domestic cleaner.
She married
George Janke on Jan. 4, 1975, in Jamestown, N.Y.
Mrs. Janke helped families in need and shared her resources and wealth with people. She had a special prayer ministry for healing of the sick and led many to Christ.
Survivors include her husband; two grandsons, Charles Trask of Geneva, and David Trask of Bedford; four great - granddaughters; and one great - great - granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bryan Trask, on Feb. 23, 1921; a son, Arthur Trask, on July 10, 1995; and one grandson, George Trask, in June of 1999.
Service is 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva.

Stefan John Kostan
MADISON - Stefan John Kostan, 21, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, in Cleveland.
Born Sept. 16, 1978, in Geneva, he was the son of the Rev. George J. and Erma J. (Mullins) Kostan. He lived in Madison most of his life.
He was employed in the building trades for Pepper Builders, Strongsville.
He was a member of Community of the Holy Spirit Charismatic Episcopal Church, Willoughby.
Mr. Kostan graduated from Madison High School in 1997 with honors. He attended Bowling Green University and Kent State University.
He enjoyed weight lifting, cars and wood working.
Survivors include his parents; a twin brother, James G. of Madison; a step - brother Christopher Tsonton of Strongsville; and his paternal grandmother, Mary, of Canton.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, John, and Ernest and Nancy Mullins.
Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 5236 Middle Ridge Road, Madison. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Geneva.

Alvina Jane Schultz
ASHTABULA - Alvina Jane Schultz, known as Janey to her friends and family, 62, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
Born April 10, 1937, in Andover, she was the daughter of Lester BeBout and Vivian Peck Ojajarvi. She was reared by her grandparents, Ada and Wayne BeBout.
She was a 1955 graduate of New Lyme Deming High School, where she was a cheerleader, honors student and homecoming queen.
She married
her high school sweetheart, Charles Schultz, on Feb. 11, 1957.
Mrs. Schultz was an active volunteer in her children's schools, and played in a softball league with her oldest daughter.
She was employed by Ashtabula County Medical Center for 20 years, and was later a home health care provider for Hospice of Ashtabula County, where she became an ardent advocate for quality end - of - life care.
She was a long - time member of Prospect Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and performed in the choir, and the Book Club of Kent State University, Ashtabula campus.
Earlier this year, the Book Club awarded her its first "Spirit Award" for her enthusiastic paticipation in group discussions. On Friday, the club announced the award was renamed the "Janey Award" in her honor.
Mrs. Schultz's greatest joy was spending time with her family, particularly her three grandchildren. She had a lifelong interest in birds and butterflies; later in life loved designing dried flower arrangements; and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her husband; four children, Connie of Shaker Heights, Leslie Schultz Perkoski of Conneaut, Toni Schultz Caudill of Saybrook, and Charles Jr. of Dublin; three grandchildren, Joshua David Zetlaw, Lindsay Marie Zetlaw, and Caitlin Schultz Gard; and two sisters, Jackie Smith of Ashtabula and Constance Taylor of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Francis.
Service is 10 a.m. Monday at Childs - Williams Funeral Home, 1440 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kevin Horrigan officiating.

Daniel A. Sullivan
CONNEAUT - Gore Road resident Daniel A. Sullivan, 68, died Friday, Sept., 17, 1999, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 25, 1931, in Staten Island, N.Y., he was the son of John and Kathleen (Bennett) Sullivan. He moved to Conneaut in 1969.
He was employed by Hertel Weighing Co. as president in Jersey City, N.J. and owned and operated the Sullivan Weighing Co. He also owned the former Chateau Lounge.
Mr. Sullivan served as director of the Litter Control Program in Conneaut.
He graduated from St. Peter's High School, Jersey City, and attended Duquesne University on a basketball scholarship.
During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church; the Conneaut Lion's Club; the B.P.O. Elks No. 256; the American Legion Cowle Post No. 151; the Loyal Order of Moose No. 472; the Fraternal Order of Eagles; the Army - Navy Union Club; and the Knights of Columbus.
In 1949, Mr. Sullivan was honored with the "Mr. New York" title because of his penchant for athletics.
He was an avid sports fan, and sponsored several sports teams in Conneaut.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, to whom he was married
for the past 40 years; a daughter, Sara Taylor; three sons, Daniel A. Jr., Joseph J., and Michael T., all of Conneaut; four grandchildren, Daniel J., Bryan J., Katy L., and Sean Patrick Taylor; and a brother, Patrick T. `Red Sullivan' of Conneaut.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, Joseph, and James; and a sister, Kathleen.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. John Summers officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Thompson - Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.

Michael L. Currence
AMORY, Miss. - Michael L. Currence, 45, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tulepo, Miss.
A former Geneva resident, he was born April 6, 1954, in Ashtabula, the son of Lydia "Lew" and Charlene (Markham) Currence. He had lived in Amory for 16 years.
For the past 12 years Mr. Currence was an emergency room nurse and paramedic at Gilmore Memorial Hospital.
He graduated from Geneva High School and formerly worked at True Temper Inc., Saybrook. He also was a graduate of ICC, Tupelo, Miss., and a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church.
His hobbies included enjoyed motorcycles and working on cars.
Survivors include a daughter and son, Shannon Lee and Dustin Michael Currence, both of Amory, Miss.; his parents of Amory and his grandmother, Nellie Riffle of Jefferson; and two sisters, Donna Anthony of Byron and Cathy Slocum of Heidelberg, Germany.
Funeral will be at noon Friday at the Behm Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, with the Rev. Richard Cheney of Colebrook United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.

Edmund Edmunds
POULTNEY, Vt. - Edmund William "Ted" Edmunds, 95, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at his home on Furnace Street.
He was born May 26, 1904, in Poultney, the son of William J. and Annie H. (Persons) Edmunds. He graduated from Troy Conference Academy in Poultney, and the University of Vermont in Burlington.
Mr. Edmunds also completed postgraduate work for his master's degree at Columbia Teachers' College in New York, and in Ohio. He started teaching at a small private school in Bennington, Vt., and later joined the staff of Bennington High School, where he taught American History and social studies from 1931 to 1945.
He then took a position at Harbor High School, Ashtabula, where he stayed from 1945 to 1953. He later took a position with the Willoughby - Eastlake School System, which employed him until he retired in 1970. He then returned to Poultney.
His interests included conservation, archeology, gardening and buying and restoring antiques.
Survivors include a sister, Hazel Tuthill of Charleston, Ill.; and many other distant relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Edwards and an infant brother.
There will be no service or calling hours.

Albert M. Monda
ASHTABULA - Albert M. Monda, 70, of East 29th Street, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at his home.
Born March 22, 1929, he was the son of Tony and Rose (Viva) Monda.
A lifelong Ashtabula resident, Mr. Monda worked 20 years for the Ashtabula Township Road Department, before retiring in 1992. He also spent 10 years as a car repairman on the New York Central Railroad.
He served three years in the Air Force, attaining the rank of corporal.
Mr. Monda enjoyed country music and was a drummer with the Larry Lawry Trio. He also enjoyed cross country skiing.
Survivors include his best friend, with whom he made his home, Bridget Stone; two sons, Thomas and Michael Monda of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandchildren; a brother, Sam of Ashtabula; and a sister, Anna Childs of Columbus.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Pat, Carmen, Tony and Nicholas; and three sisters, Susie, Josephine and Jennie.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., with the Rev. Richard A. Wright, associate pastor of the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood cemetery.
