Helen B. Piech
JEFFERSON - Helen B. (Marinchak) Piech, 81, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born July 5, 1918, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of George and Helen (Fedor) Marinchak. She lived in Ashtabula before moving to Jefferson in 1940.
She married Leonard J. Piech on Sept. 7, 1940, at the Second Congregational Church.
Mrs. Piech was the cafeteria supervisor for the Jefferson Elementary School for 20 years, retiring in 1982. She also was a hospital volunteer for several years.
She was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, and the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed cooking, baking and traveling.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy A. Storey of Dayton, and Karen S. Ferra of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister, Irene Sposito of Ashtabula; three brothers, Joseph Marinchak of Boca Raton, Fla., and John Marinchak and James Marinchak, both of Ashtabula; six grandchildren; and one great - grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard, in 1990; a son, Leonard G. in 1998; two brothers, Ernest and George Marinchak; and two sisters, Margaret Dooling and Gazella Hach.
Service is 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Jefferson United Methodist Church, 125 E. Jefferson St. The Rev. Meredith Coleman and Gordon Emerson, lay pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakdale cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and the church.

Evelyn D. Sanders
GENEVA - Fourth Street resident Evelyn D. Sanders, 77, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
Born Oct. 29, 1921, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Edward and Doretta (Monschein) Newcomer. She was a longtime resident of Geneva.
She married Frank L. Sanders on Sept. 25, 1954, in Cleveland.
Mrs. Sanders was employed by Warner & Swazy as a blueprint operator.
She attended Peoples Church of Geneva.
She enjoyed canning and cooking.
Survivors include three sons, David of Painesville; Charles Hamilton of Euclid, and John Hamilton of Cleveland; a daughter, Kathryn Deskins of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren; eight great - grandchildren; and one great - great - granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1996; and two brothers, Charles and Edward Newcomer.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva. Rev. Lin Bowman of Peoples Church in Geneva will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Geneva.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home

Dorothy C. Beem
ASHTABULA - Vineland Avenue resident Dorothy C. Beem, 78, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born Dec. 2, 1920, in Dexter City, she was a daughter of Harold R. and Lura (Carroll) Davis.
The former Columbus resident moved to Ashtabula a year ago.
In 1989, she retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation.
She was a member of the Overbrook Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Beem was a longtime member of the Clintville Women's Club.
She was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Bibler of Ashtabula; two grandchildren, Stacy and Eric Bibler of Ashtabula; and three stepchildren, Jack, Judy and Janet.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard K. Beem.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Edgewood cemetery on State Road in Ashtabula Township, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts, of the Pentecostal Church of God, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Ashtabula County. Envelopes will be available at the Ross - Billman Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

Sylvia M. DeJoy
WILLOUGHBY - Sylvia M. (Seith) DeJoy, 89, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Fairmount Health Center of Breckenridge Village in Willoughby.
She was born Sept. 15, 1910, in Cleveland.
A Lake County resident for 79 years, she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby. She was part of the Ladies Court of Mary.
She was a member of the Willoughby Woman's Club and the Willoughby Women's Auxiliary of the School of Fine Arts.
For 20 years, she volunteered at LakeWest Hospital. She was also a volunteer for RSVP for 15 years and the American Red Cross for 10 years.
She enjoyed reading and bridge.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma Jean Curry of Geneva; a son, James M. of Concord Township; six grandchildren; and seven great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael A.
Funeral mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Church, 37950 Euclid Ave., with the Rev. Francis D. Curran officiating. Burial will be in Willoughby cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Breckenridge Life Care Center, 36855 Ridge Road, Willoughby.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the McMahon - Coyne Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave.

John R. Kirk
ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP - South Ridge East resident John R. Kirk, 94, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at his home.
Born Feb. 5, 1905, in Llandudno, Wales, he was a son of Alfred and Anna Marie (Jones) Kirk.
An area resident since the late '20s, he worked at Item Fiber in Ashtabula for more than 72 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church.
For more than 76 years, he was a member of the Odd Fellows in Conneaut.
He enjoyed reading, bird watching and gardening.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Ludlow of Geneva - on - the - Lake and Deloris Ashley of Ashtabula; five sons, Redgie of North Kingsville, Russell D. of Ashtabula, Gordon E., with whom he made his home, Dale W. of Killbuck and David A. of Kingsville Township; 19 grandchildren; 33 great - grandchildren; 10 great - great - grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 14 great - stepgrandchildren; a brother, Victor of England; and a sister, Hilda Roberts of England.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorinne E.; a son, Milford; two grandchildren, Lee Beth Krensky and Anthony Kirk; a great - grandson; a great - granddaughter; a brother, William; and a sister, Violet Chapman.
Funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Ross - Billman Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kathleen Evans, of the First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Odd Fellows will have a service at 8:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Ashtabula County.

Raymond E. Jones
LENOX TOWNSHIP - East Union Road resident Raymond E. Jones, 43, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at his residence, after riding his four - wheel ATV.
Born March 1, 1956, in Painesville, he was a son of Robert E. and Matilda A. (Skul) Jones.
He married Terry L. Meinke on June 14, 1996, in Jefferson.
He lived much of his life in Lake County, then in Youngstown and Conneaut, before moving to the Jefferson area three years ago.
The Willoughby South High School graduate worked at Aco Polymer Products in Chardon.
Mr. Jones was an Army veteran.
He enjoyed motorcycles, four wheel ATVS, woodworking and carpentry.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Raymond E. Jones Jr. of Willoughby, Mark Andrew Meinke and twins, Benjamin Keith and Colton Thomas Jones, all at home; his grandmother, Betty Young of Russell Township; two brothers, Robert of Willoughby and Ronald of Parma; and three sisters, Patty Fox of Union City, Pa., Peggy Kiikka of Willoughby and Judy Gleason of Parma.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral is 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49 West Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Stephen Wassie, of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church, officiating. Burial will be in a Lenox Township cemetery.
Calling hours are 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lenore Taylor
CLEVELAND - Conneaut resident Lenore Taylor, 67, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at University Hospital in Cleveland.
Born on July 23, 1932, in Conneaut, she was a daughter of Fiory and Clotilde (Best) Muchiarone.
She married Edward G. Taylor on Nov. 26, 1955, at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Conneaut.
The 1950 graduate of Conneaut High School had worked at Gleason's and as a teller at the former NEO Bank. She retired in 1995 from Webb Manufacturing.
She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Conneaut, where she was active in many church functions, was a cantor and enjoyed bingo.
She was a member and past regent of the Catholic Daughters of America, Ladies Guild and the Eight O'Clock Club.
She was a volunteer at the Inn Conneaut Health Center.
She enjoyed her grandchildren's activities, including ball games, dance and gymnastics; cooking for her family for gatherings and holidays; the Cleveland Indians; and traveling on bus trips.
Survivors include her husband; five sons, Edward J. of Conneaut, Michael of Pierpont Township, James of Geneva, Joseph of Columbus and Ken of Conneaut; a daughter, Mary Ruth Holdson of West Springfield, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; five sisters, Rita Mackey and Norma Barfai, both of Conneaut, Marie Willner of Franklin, Tenn., Judy Prasek of Ashtabula and Betty Reed of Kingsville Township; and two brothers, Jerry Muchiarone of North Carolina and James Muchiarone of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Muchiarone.
Mass of Christian Burial is 2 p.m. today at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 480 State St., Conneaut, with the Rev. John Summers officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery in Conneaut.
Calling hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the Raisian Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church of Station Three Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

James K. Friel
CONNEAUT - James K. Friel, 72, of Lake Road, died at his home Monday, Jan. 17, 2000. He had been ill five month.
The son of John R. and S. Nellie (Greene) he was born Feb. 11, 1927, in Akron.
He served in the Navy during World War II as a sonarman.
He had been a Conneaut resident for the past 30 years and was employed as a sales manager by both the former Norton Co. and the former Plycraft, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church, and a former member of Conneaut Rotary club. Mr. Friel was also a member and former officer of B.P.O. Elks Lodge 256.
Mr. Friel was known for his sense of humor and singing.
An avid golfer, he enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening and his Monte Carlo.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. (Sullivan) Friel, whom he married June 29, 1948; a son, Terry C. Friel Sr. of North Canton; a sister, Mary E. Haffner of Akron; four grandchildren, Terry Jr., Scott, Sara and Jake Friel; and one great - grandson, Gabriel.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, John R. and Bill T. Friel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church, 480 State St., Conneaut. The Rev. Raymond Thomas will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery with military honors.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Marcy Funeral Home, A Family Care Group affiliate, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut. The Elks will conduct services at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of St. Mary's Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Glenn S. Fisher
MONTVILLE TOWNSHIP - Glenn S. Fisher, 63, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000 at home.
The son of Arthur P. and Freda (Fobes) Fisher, he was born June 24, 1936, in Burton. He lived in Chardon Village before moving to Montville 14 years ago.
An Army veteran, he was discharged in 1958.
Mr. Fisher was co - owner of the Tri County Camp Inn in Montville.
He also worked many years in the banking industry. He was a founder of First County Bank, Chardon, and was president of the Geauga County National Bank/Bank One in Chardon and also of National City Bank in Chardon.
He also had worked at Peoples Savings and Loan in Ashtabula, Citizens Banking Co. in Rock Creek, Jefferson Savings and Loan in Jefferson and North American Rockwell's Federal Credit Union in Ashtabula.
He was a member of the Church of St. Mary in Chardon Village, and he belonged to the Chardon Rotary Club, where he served as a host father for the club's Foreign Exchange Student program.
Mr. Fisher was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, where he served as treasurer of the Geauga Unit, and he was a past treasurer of the Salvation Army in Geauga County.
He served 20 years as a director of the Boy Scouts of America and was a past chairman of the Geauga County United Way.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; daughter Cheryl (Rory) Breedlove of Hambden Township; sons Leonard of Hickory, N. C., and Arthur of Charlotte, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Jesse, Misty, Jennifer, Nicholas, Jamie, Sheonna, Kayla and Christopher; sister, Ardythe Ashley of Wooster; and brothers William of Middlefield and Phillip of Marlborough, Mass.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen; a sister, Donna Ross; and a brother, James.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon Village. The Rev. Thomas Gilles will be the celebrant. Burial will be in All Souls cemetery in Chardon Township.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon Village.

Ramon Leroy Peet
ASHTABULA - Ramon "Ray" Leroy Peet, 70, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in the Hospice unit of the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
The son of John and Vera (Arkenberg) Peet, he was born April 22, 1929, in Ashtabula. A lifelong resident, he graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1947.
An excellent athlete, Mr. Peet captained the 1947 AHS basketball team that advanced to the state championships. He also competed at the state level in track as a discus thrower.
He officiated high school basketball for many years, and he managed Little League baseball for 11 years.
He played minor league baseball in the Chicago Cubs organization from 1948 to 1950.
He worked 35 years at Reliance Electric, retiring in 1991.
An Army veteran, he fought in Korean War.
Mr. Peet was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday school for 11 years.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling with his wife, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores (Sippola), whom he married on July 24, 1954; sons David of Ashtabula and Carl of Flower Mound, Texas; daughter Nancy Gardner of Erie; a grandson, Michael; brothers Albert, Richard and Averill; and sisters Francis Orr, Marie Penna and Maxine Laurello.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death brothers Tony and John Jr., and sisters Laura Cello, Philomena Demaio, Leatrice Nelson, Gloria Luton, Antoinette Penna, and Neta Hurd.
Service is 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Lutheran Church, 933 Michigan Ave., with the Rev. David L. Hofer officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Potti Lakeside Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Ave.
Contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Bethany Lutheran Church, the Ashtabula Regional Cancer Center, or the Hospice of Ashtabula County.

Adelbert Gill
ASHTABULA - Adelbert Gill, 79, of Willow Arms Drive, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at his home.
The son of Fred W. and Florence (Bender) Gill, he was born Feb. 9, 1920, and had lived in the Ashtabula area most of his life.
Mr. Gill graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1937. He was employed with LTV Steel in Youngstown for 32 years as a boiler engineer. While working at LTV, he lived in McDonald, Ohio until he retired and moved back to Ashtabula.
An Army veteran, he fought in the Philippines, Guam and New Guinea during World War II. He was a life member of VFW Post 943 in Ashtabula, where he served on the Canteen Board and on the Color Guard.
He was also a member of American Legion Dewey Howlett Post 103 and was a life member of the East Ashtabula Club.
Survivors include his wife Clara M. (Johnson), whom he married Sept. 4, 1948; brothers Lee and Merle both of Ashtabula; and sisters Edith A. Coe and Mabelle A. Perry, both of Ashtabula, and Beverly Inman of Austinburg.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Allen F. Sr., Claude, William, and two brothers in infancy; and a sister, Helen.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ross - Billman Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 526 Prospect Road, with the Rev. Kevin Horrigan of the Prospect Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Saybrook Township cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Donald E. Krieg
COLEBROOK - Donald E. Krieg, 73, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2000, at the Village Square Nursing Home in Orwell Township.
The son of Louis G. and Dora M. Henschen Krieg, he was born Nov. 18, 1926 in Colebrook.
Mr. Krieg was a farmer and was a lifelong Colebrook resident. He was a member of the Colebrook United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and working the family sugarbush.
Survivors include brothers Floyd F. of Colebrook and Clarence H. of Orwell; sisters Ruth Marshand of Kingsville and Lois Fowler of Ashtabula; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers William J. and Carl M.; and a sister, Juanita Smith.
Service is 1p.m. Wednesday at the Paine Funeral Home, 140 E. Main St., Orwell, with the Rev. Richard Cheney of the Colebrook United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Colebrook North cemetery.
Calling hour is from noon until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
