Elden Clair Boothby Jr.
ERIE, Pa. - Elden Clair Boothby Jr., 43, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at his home at the Richford Arms in Erie, Pa., from a massive heart attack.
Born March 21, 1956, in Jacksonville, N.C., he was a son of Elden Sr. and Cynthia (Loader) Boothby.
Known to many of his friends as "Big E, " he was employed at the American Surplus store in Erie.
He was a 1974 graduate of Northwestern High School. He also attended the Erie VoTech School and the Erie Business Center.
Mr. Boothby attended Sunday school and Bible school at the Federated Church in East Springfield, Pa.
He volunteered his time at the Springfield Volunteer Firemen's Annual Carnival. He especially enjoyed calling bingo.
He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and enjoyed golfing, bowling, collecting baseball cards and walking everywhere.
Survivors include his parents of East Springfield and three brothers, Tim of Ashtabula, Roger of Washington, Pa. and Scott of Wooster.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main St., East Springfield, with Don Adams, the Rev. Ed Huntley and Martin Crieder officiating. Burial will be in Springfield cemetery in East Springfield.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the WLD Ranch, 7351 Woolsey Road, Girard, Pa. 15417. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Carmen Ray Blankenship
WATTS, Okla. - Former Ashtabula resident Carmen Ray Blankenship, 37, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, in an automobile accident.
He was born April 17, 1963, in Ashtabula, the son of Carole Sue Blankenship, and had lived in Oklahoma the past year.
He worked as a machine operator and enjoyed hiking, fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his mother, Carole Sue Mull of Ashtabula; his wife, the former Jeanann Dolen of Westville, Okla.; three sons: Jerry Ray, Bradley and Carmen Ray Jr., all of Ashtabula; a daughter, Carrie of Ashtabula; two stepchildren: Jawnna and Joshua McFarland of Watts, Okla.; two brothers: William David and Martin Dean Mull, both of Ashtabula; his former wife, Janet Blankenship; and stepfather, William P. Mull of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Virgie Blankenship.
Service is 10 a.m. Friday at Lily of the Valley, Old Regular Baptist Church, Route 84 and Kiwanis Park Drive, in Geneva. Scott Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be in Edgewood cemetery.
Calling hours at the church are 7 p.m. Thursday until the time of service Friday morning.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, is in charge of arrangements.

Jacques Fredrick Loebs
CLARIDON TOWNSHIP - Jacques Fredrick Loebs, 86, also of Hudson, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Born March 12, 1914, in Cleveland, he was the son of Jacob and Agnes (O'Boyle) Loebs.
He had been a resident of Hudson since 1996, formerly living in Claridon Township and Cleveland.
He married Violet Carlson in Cleveland on Feb. 19, 1938.
He developed and operated Jacques High Chaparral Mobile Home Park from 1953 until his retirement in 1985. He also operated Jacques Custard along Mayfield Road. He was a former real estate agent and a former road inspector for the Ohio Department of Transportation.
He graduated from John Adams High School, Cleveland, and Assumption College in Canada. He was a W.W.II veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Loebs was a member of Church of St. Mary, Chardon, and maintained an active relationship with St. Augustine Church in the Tremont area of Cleveland. He was appointed the first president of the Catholic Service Bureau of Geauga County through his affliation with St. Mary's Parish.
He was a former candidate for Geauga County commissioner and an active member of both the central and executive Democratic Committees, serving as chairman and treasurer of both committees.
He was a former international representative for AFL - CIO. He was a member of the Chardon Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2261. Mr. Loebs belonged to Ohio Mobile Home Association and was a member of the Board of Governors of Mobile Home Parks. He was a former president of the Lake Erie Trailer Coach Association.
He was very involved in the community throughout his life, serving in various capacities with the Geauga County Humane Society, Geauga County Historical Society, Hiram College, March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and several summer camps for underprivileged children.
Mr. Loebs was recognized with numerous achievements and accomplishments throughout his career.
He enjoyed golf, bowling, Civil War history, politics, world events. He traveled throughout the world, including Russia, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Survivors include his wife of Hudson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Arlene Carlson.
Memorial Mass will be t 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon Village. The Rev. Greg Schaut will officiate.
Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chardon, is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Perkoski
CONNEAUT - Charles Perkoski, 84, of Madison Street, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at the Inn - Conneaut Health Center, Conneaut.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Frances Cabrini Church, Conneaut. The Rev. John Summers will officiate.
Friends may call at Thompson - Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, one hour prior to the service.
Funeral information will be released by Thompson - Smith Funeral Home.

Delford G. Behm
MANTUA - Delford G. Behm, 89, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at Burton Health Care Center following a period of failing health.
Mr. Behm was born on Sept. 23, 1910, in Trumbull County, the son of Jesse and Allie (Grover) Behm. He moved to Portage County in 1973 from Madison.
He married Carolyn (Fuller) Oct. 10, 1939.
He retired in 1972 after 30 years of service in Lake County as a bailiff of the Lake County Municipal Courts and as a Lake County deputy sheriff. From 1944 to 1951 he owned Behm Furniture and Electric in Madison, where he worked with his father. He owned a radio repair shop from 1937 to 1951.
He was a former trustee of North East Ohio Hospital in Madison. He was a member and served on the boards of The Geneva Christian Church, Madison Methodist Church, and Madison Congregational Church.
He was a 56 - year member of Lake Shore Masonic Lodge No. 307 F&AM, Madison, serving as master in 1946 and later as treasurer for 10 years. He was a charter member of the Painesville Chapter Order of Dolay.
An avid fisherman, he was active also in bowling leagues in Lake and Portage counties for many years.
Survivors include daughters: Louanna Bidlack and Ginny Dunkin, both of Mantua; four grandchildren; and six great - grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Dale Somoskey officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery in Thompson.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Green's Funeral Home in Mantua.

Myrtle L. Rerko
GENEVA - Myrtle L. Rerko, 81, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
Born Dec. 2, 1918, in Geneva, a daughter of Bert M. and Grace (Williamson) Rose, she resided in Geneva all her life.
She married Steve Rerko in Geneva June 16, 1947.
She was employed as a silk presser at Erb Cleaners, Geneva, for 35 years. She also worked at Sohio Gas Station during World War II.
Mrs. Rerko was a member of Park Street Christian Church, Geneva, where she was a deaconess, Sunshine chairman and belonged to the Ruth Group.
She enjoyed cooking and baking.
Survivors include two brothers: Clarence and Frank Rose, both of Geneva.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1985; six brothers: Robert, Albert, Wilmer, Franklin, Bert Jr., and Lee Arthur; and four sisters: Velma Spargo, Ruth Dayton, Maudie Jacobs, and Violet in infancy.
Service is 1 p.m. Friday at Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman Street, Geneva. The Rev. Larry Wade of Park Street Christian Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Saybrook cemetery, Saybrook Township.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of Park Street Christian Church, P.O.Box 283, Geneva 44041. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Jeanette "GeeGee" M. Anderson
GENEVA - Jeanette "GeeGee" M. Anderson, 29, of West Main Street, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at University Hospital of Cleveland.
Born in Madison July 17, 1971, she was a daughter of Debbie (Torok) Wendle. She lived most of her life in Geneva.
She was employed as a cosmetologist at Smitty's Hair Fashion in Madison.
Survivors include her daughter, Melissa R. of Geneva; her mother of Geneva; maternal grandmother, Louise Torok of Geneva; one brother, Mark Windle Jr. of Geneva; and her fiancee, Randy Waltz of Geneva.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, James Torok.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Contributions may be made to the family c/o Walker Funeral Home, P.O. Drawer 349, Geneva 44041. Envelopes are available at the funeral home, 828 Sherman St.

Lawrence M. Fobes
KINGSVILLE - Lawrence M. Fobes, 76, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at his home.
He was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Wellsburg, Pa., the son of Frederick and Mary Joan (McCann) Fobes, and lived in the Kingsville area since 1956.
Before his retirement, he worked at Union Carbide and Elkem Metals as a junior chemist.
He served in the Navy during World War II in the American, European and Asiatic - Pacific campaigns.
He was a member of the American Legion and was a former Boy Scout leader.
Survivors include his wife, Bette Hayes Fobes; three sons: John of Lorain, and Jeffrey and Jay, both of Ashtabula; a sister, Frances Smolinski of Erie, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters: Genevieve Rogers and Anna Mae Mahoney.
Service is 1:30 p.m. Friday at Guerriero Funeral Home, 6280 S. Main St., North Kingsville. The Rev. David Hines, of the Kingsville Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will take place in Lulu Falls cemetery in Kingsville.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be noon Friday until time of service.

Marie C. Semler
NILES - Marie C. Semler, 91, of Niles - Vienna Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Autumn Hills Care Center, Niles.
She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., Aug. 10, 1909, a daughter of Amos Roy and Katherine (Koerbell) Chilcote. She was a long - time Trumbull County resident.
She married George P. Semler June 16, 1934.
Mrs. Semler was a school teacher for various Trumbull County public school systems, retiring in 1965.
She received her degree from Kent State University.
She was a member of Gustavus Federated Church, where she played the organ for many years.
Mrs. Semler was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, and Gustavus U&I Club. She was past treasurer for the Warren chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. As a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association, she was instrumental in the placement of a dedicated bell in Kinsman cemetery.
She enjoyed making latch hook rugs, playing bridge and researching family genealogy.
Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Bohn of Mentor; one son, Paul of Cortland; six grandchildren; and 12 great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; her brother, Wallace; and her sister, Dorothy.
Funeral service is Friday at 2 p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, with the Rev. Dennis Lawrence officiating.
Burial will take place in Gustavus cemetery.
Calling hours will be held 1 to 2 p.m. Friday.

Audrey Bunker Bruce
HOWLAND - Audrey Bunker Bruce, 89, died Saturday, August 28, 1999, of heart failure at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home of Niles.
Born May 6, 1910, in Colebrook, she was the daughter of Karl Dane and Anna (Frantz) Bunker.
She attended Colebrook High School and graduated from Howland High in 1928. She earned a master's degree in Education from Kent State University.
She married J. E. Bruce on Dec. 25, 1939.
Mrs. Bruce was employed as a teacher in 1930, and taught three years in Ashtabula County. She taught 21 years in Howland, spent 18 years with the Trumball County Board of Education and was a supervisor of Elementary Education in Trumball County. She retired in 1972 after 42 years of service.
She is survived by a brother, Willard Karl Bunker of Howland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Service was Aug. 31 at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. Burial was in Pineview Memorial Park, Warren.

William S. Blazek
VALLEY CITY - William S. Blazek, 71, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Pearlview Nursing Home in Brunswick.
Born March 21, 1927, he was the son of Michael and Mary Blazek.
He was a retired metallurgist and consultant for Precision Metalsmiths.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne; a daughter, Kelly of Shaker Heights; a son, Paul of Amsterdam, the Netherlands; a sister, Marilyn Tercher; an aunt, Gele Beno; a niece, Jennifer Tercher; and a nephew, Sean Tercher.
Services are pending and will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Medina County, 797 N. Court Medina, 44256. Envelopes are available at the Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.

Vesta G. Clute
SEBRING, Fla. - Gabriel Street resident Vesta G. Clute, 99, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at her home after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 31, 1899, in Pemberton, she was the daughter of Marcellus N. and Sarah J. (Nichols) Lucas.
She was a 1918 graduate of Colebrook High School. She also attended Kent State University.
She married Harold D. Clute on June 2, 1923.
Mrs. Clute was a homemaker and was employed by the Warren School System as a cafeteria worker for 10 years. She moved from Gainesville, Fla., to Sebring in 1996.
She was a member of the First Christian Missionary Alliance.
Survivors include a daughter, Viola Cover of Sebring; a son, Eldon of Avon Park, Fla.; six grandchildren; 14 great - grandchildren; and seven great - great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Feb. 20, 1979; a brother, Criffield, who died at birth Feb. 13, 1891; and three sisters, Norma Dodge, Grace Lucas, and Doris Krieg.
Graveside service was Tuesday in Evergreen cemetery in Gainsville, with Rev. Ronald Cole officiating.

Thomas McGowan, Jr.
MONTVILLE - Thomas McGowan, Jr., 60, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, of conjestive heart failure at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.
Born April 27, 1939, in Blandburg, Pa., he was the son of Thomas and Alma McGowan.
He was employed by Prudential Insurance Co. as a sales representative, and owned Fourth R of Northeast Ohio.
Mr. McGowan had many years of service with East Cleveland Auxiliary Police. He was a nine - year member of the Grand Valley school board, serving as president. He also was founder and sponsor of the Hartsgrove girls softball team.
Survivors include his wife, Susan E. (Lovell); four daughters, Deborah, Joan Szabo, Michele Toomey and Mary Winters; a son, Thomas III; two adopted sons, Douglas and Roger; a sister, Patricia Wagner; and three brothers, James, Gerald, and William McGowan.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 16550 Rock Creek Road, Thompson. The Rev. Paul Smith will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the All Souls cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Ritondaro Funeral Home.
