Katherine Scibona
HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP - Katherine "Nellie" Scibona, 79, died Saturday morning, Jan. 15, 2000, at the Madison Health Care, Madison Township.
Born May 5, 1920, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Frank and Rose Pugliese.
A lifelong Harpersfield resident, she married Frank Scibona on June 20, 1942, in Geneva.
She was a homemaker, who also helped her husband on the family farm.
Mrs. Scibona enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Amelia Janco of Madison; three sons, Vince of Geneva, and Gene and Frank Jr. of Harpersfield; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great - grandchildren.
Service is noon Wednesday at the Behm Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva. The Rev. Larry Wade of Park Street Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Harpersfield cemetery, Harpersfield.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Paul Gregus
ROCK CREEK - Paul Gregus, 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at Heather Hill Hospital, Munson Township.
Born July 27, 1918, in Thompson Township, he was the son of John and Katie (Skladan) Gregus.
He retired from Perfection Corp. in 1985 as a machine operator. He also worked as a carpenter.
Mr. Gregus was a past post commander of Rock Creek Veterans of Foreign Wars 7068.
During World War II, he served in the United States 5th and the 94th Evacuation Hospital in North Africa and Italy.
He enjoyed bowling and going on fishing trips to Canada.
Survivors include a brother, John of Rock Creek.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Anne Stowe and Katherine Gregus.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Behm Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, with the Rev. Stephen Fisher of Trinity Lutheran Church, Madison, officiating.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Ashtabula County, 2420 Lake Ave., Ashtabula 44004.

Erika Kauppila
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Erika Kauppila, 62, of Ferrarra Street, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Memorial Medical Center.
Mrs. Kauppila recently obtained her citizenship from the United States.
Survivors include her husband, Donald E.; two sons, Terry John and Eric Alan; three brothers, George Kaiser, Adolph Kaiser, and Manfred Kaiser; and a granddaughter, Cynthia A. Kauppila.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilhelm Kaiser.
Chapel of Hardage - Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, Fla., handled the arrangements. Interment was in the Oaklawn cemetery.

Darlene Sue Kutterna
CONNEAUT - Darlene Sue Yarington Kutterna, 54, of West Springfield, Pa., died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born June 10, 1945, in Girard, Pa., she was the daughter of Sherman and Mable (Anderson) Yarington Garstenshlager.
She was a 1963 graduate of Rowe High School in Conneaut and spent most of her life in the Erie and West County area. She was employed as a production specialist for Alltel and worked at GTE Publishing for 28 years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, crafts and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her father, Wilbur Garstenshlager, of Conneaut; a daughter, Christine Cooper of Fairview, Pa.; a son, Franklin D. Kutterna, Jr. of West Springfield, Pa.; a sister, Judy Clough of Conneaut; a brother, Richard A. Garstenshlager of Conneautville, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Harley and Joseph Cooper of Fairview, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Franklin Kutterna, in 1997; a son, Joseph; and a brother, Robert Garstenshlager.
No service or calling hours will be observed.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Home Care Service, 232 W. 25th St., Erie, Pa. 16544. Envelopes will be available at the Marcy Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut 44030, which is handling arrangements.

Robin M. Mullins
PAINESVILLE - Robin M. Mullins, 39, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at University Hospital, Cleveland.
Born Oct. 9, 1959, in Ashtabula, she lived in Painesville all of her life.
She was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Survivors include her mother, Barbara Nyznik of Painesville; a sister, Diana Merriman of Grand River; two brothers, Michael J. Mullins of Chesapeake, Va., and Timothy E. Nyznik of Mentor.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer A. Nyznik.
Service is 4 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.

LeVerne `Pete' Peterson
GREENVILLE, Pa. - Donation Road resident LeVerne "Pete" Peterson, 82, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at his home.
Born on May 28, 1917, in Albion, Pa., he was the son of Clarence A. and Anna (Hurst) Peterson.
He married Ruth Richards on Sept. 18, 1958.
Mr. Peterson was a graduate of Albion High School.
He was a retired employee of the Bessemer & Lake Erie Raliroad, in Albion, retiring as office manager in Greenville in 1977 after 50 years of service.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II in the South Pacific Theatre of Operations. He later was a member of the Air Force Reserve from 1946 to 1949.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Greenville; Mercer County Shrine Club; and Eureka Lodge 290 Free & Accepted Masons, Greenville, for more than 50 years.
Mr. Peterson also was a member of New Castle Consistory, and Zem Zem Temple of the Shrine, Erie, Pa., where he was a Past Potentate and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters of the Shrine. He was a member of Greenville Lions Club, where he was a past King Lion and past district governor.
He was an avid golfer.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma Lee Hawkins of Conneaut; a son, LeVerne Peterson Jr. of Conneaut; four grandchildren; and nine great - grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1998; two brothers, a twin, LeRoy, and Jack; and a great - grandchild.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Baird Funeral Home, 14 Louisa Ave., Greenville, with Rev. Robert Douglas of Christian & Missionary Alliance Church officiating. Burial will be in the Shenango Valley cemetery, Greenville.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday.
Cabiri of Zem Zem Temple will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jannette I. Steadman
MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. - Jannette I. Steadman, 82, formerly of Dorman Road, Conneaut, died July 1, 1999. She was a longtime Conneaut resident.
Born Sept. 20, 1916, in Springboro, Pa., she was the daughter of Claude and Hazel (Chambers) Lowry.
Mrs. Steadman was a member of East Conneaut United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed her family and friends, cooking, and shopping.
Survivors include two sons, Richard W. of Merritt Island, and Gerald W. of Newbury Park, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 11 great - grandchildren; a sister, Lila Maloy of Cocoa, Fla.; and a brother, Frank Lowry of Conneaut
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleon T., in 1995, and her parents.
Graveside service is noon Saturday at East Conneaut cemetery, with the Rev. Ash Welch of East Conneaut United Methodist Church officiating.
The Marcy Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, is in charge of local arrangements.

Arnold E. Haueter
CHARDON - Chardon resident Arnold E. Haueter, 77, died Jan. 16, 2000, at Lake East Hospital in Painesville.
Born Aug. 14, 1922, in Claridon Township, he was a son of George and Sophia (Hauer) Haueter.
He married Bertha Ineman on Aug. 19, 1943, in Chester Township.
The lifelong Chardon area resident was the owner and operator of the former Haueter's Sohio on Water Street in Chardon (which became Haueter's Lawn and Sport). He was in business from 1950 to 1985.
He was a 1941 graduate of Chardon High School. He was a member of the Chardon Board of Education from 1963 to 1969.
Mr. Haueter remained active with the CHS Alumni Association. In 1998, he and his wife were elected to the Chardon High School Alumni Association Hall of Fame for their contributions to the Chardon schools and community.
He was a member of the Chardon United Methodist Church. He had been active in the Methodist Men's Club and was instrumental in grounds beautification at the church as well as refurbishing and moving the bell from the Main Street Church to another building and erecting the bell tower seen in the front entrance.
Mr. Haueter was a former member and chief engineer of the Chardon Volunteer Fire Department. (He took over the position from his father - in - law.)
He was a charter member of the Chardon Rotary Club, a former active member of the Chardon Jaycees and had been a member of the former Munson Grange.
He attended many automotive, mechanical and electrical schools in Ohio and Michigan. He was a member of the NEO Model A Club, the Penn - Ohio Model A Club and the Model A Restorer's Club (MARC). He and his wife drove their 1930 Model A town sedan in 49 states. They also have won a number of awards for their restorations of various Model As.
He and his wife volunteered more than 150 hours at the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Michigan in 1996. At the 1998 dedication of Mel Harder Park, Harder was driven from his home to the field in the Haueter's Model A Ford.
Mr. Haueter was a fan of Chardon High School sports, especially football and wrestling. He enjoyed garden and yard work at home.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, James of Marietta and Thomas of Hambden Township; five grandchildren, Pamela Bachmann and Alison Haueter of Phoenix, Ariz., Erika Phillips of Madison and Heather and Brian Haueter of Hambden Township; and a sister, Marguerite Anton of Cleveland.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Alberta Luft, Emeline Lewis and Elisebeth Baechle; and three brothers, George, Russell and Raymond Haueter.
Funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St., Chardon, with the Rev. Marvin Brown, of the Chardon United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Chardon Municipal cemetery, Park Street, Chardon.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chardon United Methodist Church Building Fund, 515 North St. or Chardon High School Athletic Boosters, 151 Chardon Ave., Chardon.

Velma C. Del Vecchio
CHARDON - Velma C. Del Vecchio, 77, died Friday, Jan. 14, 1999, at her Chardon home.
Born Feb. 24, 1922, in Rome, N.Y., she was a daughter of Royal O. and Nellie (Franklin) Crook.
She married Nicholas F. Del Vecchio on Sept. 12, 1940, in Rome, N.Y.
The former Rome, N.Y., resident had lived in Chardon since 1988.
She was a computer operator for Griffis Air Force Base in Rome, N.Y., from 1959 to 1979. She was a civilian employee.
Mrs. Del Vecchio was a 1940 graduate of the Rome Free Academy.
She was a member of the Rome First Presbyterian Church.
As a young woman, she had been the president of the Rome Home Bureau.
She enjoyed genealogy and researched her family tree dating back three centuries to England and Germany.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Tepedino of Batavia, N.Y.; a son, Ohio Highway Patrol Lt. Timothy of Chardon; and five grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Stanley F. Crook.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Bush Funeral Home in Rome, N.Y.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.

Patricia A. Ludwick
RICHMOND TOWNSHIP - Route 7 resident Patricia A. Ludwick, 62, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at her home in Richmond Township.
Born Dec. 1, 1937, in Cleveland, she was a daughter of Anthony J. and Beatrice (Boyle) Amato.
She married Elmer R. Ludwick on July 24, 1964, in Austinburg.
She moved from Cleveland to Richmond Township in 1963.
She was employed by Jefferson Mfg., Jefferson Telephone Co. and Horner Box Co. before she semi - retired and managed the Spear Head Golf Course for her parents.
She was a member of the Richmond Grange and Eastern Star, Orion Chapter, of Kingsville Township.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, bowling and traveling.
Survivors include her mother of Richmond Township; her husband; a daughter, Barbara J. Anthony of Pierpont Township; two sons, Doug A. of Rome Township and Rick L. of Richmond Township; eight grandchildren, Elmer, Eugene, Eric, Earl, Heidi, Amanda, Ronny and Natalie; a great - grandson; and a sister, Ruth V. Polchin of Cherry Valley.
She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Mary.
Funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Childs - Williams Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 96 Route 7, Pierpont Township. Burial will be in Dart cemetery in Richmond Township.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Aini M. Rintanen
YOUNGSTOWN - Former Mill Street, Conneaut, resident Aini M. Rintanen, 80, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, where she had been a patient for two weeks.
Born Nov. 1, 1919, in Warren, she was a daughter of John and Tilda (Hakala) Malli.
She had been a Conneaut resident most of her life, moving to Youngstown nearly two years ago to reside at Camelot Arms Care Center.
She was a former office manager for the Horton Wilbert Vault Co.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Conneaut.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Tedrow of Youngstown and three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Tracy and Devin Tedrow, all of Youngstown.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edwin; two sisters, Martha Mulligan and Helen Malli; and four brothers, William, Jacob, John and Rudolph Malli.
Funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Marcy Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Clyde McGee, pastor of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Center cemetery in Conneaut.
Calling hour is noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Abiding Memorial of the church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Clifford C . Fleming
CONNEAUT - Clifford C. Fleming, 69, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Inn - Conneaut Health Center.
Born Aug. 11, 1930, in Conneaut, he was a son of Ernest Fleming and Eva (Anderson) Fleming Shartner.
The former West Springfield, Pa., resident had been a truck driver. He retired in 1993.
He was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict.
He was a member of the American Legion Cowle Post 151 of Conneaut, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 408 of Conneaut and was past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4965 of West Springfield, Pa.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Oliver of Knoxville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Daniel and David Oliver of Knoxville, Tenn.; a stepbrother, Carl D. Shartner of Nashville, Tenn.; and his fiancee, Marilyn Appleton of West Springfield, Pa.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne (Diehl); a son, Clifford M.; a grandfather, Clifford Anderson; and a grandmother, Lura Anderson Langell.
Graveside service is 1 p.m. Friday in East Springfield cemetery, East Springfield, Pa, with the Rev. Roger P. Hogle, pastor of the South Ridge Baptist Church, officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
The Marcy Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, is in charge of arrangements.
