Maurice H. Alderman
GREENVILLE, Pa. - Maurice H. Alderman, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at St. Pauls Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 17, 1909, in Branch County, Mich., he was a son of John B. and Gertrude V. (Richings) Aldermand.
He married Inez G. Alderman on April 19, 1980, at the First United Methodist Church of Andover.
He had lived on Chestnut Street in Andover. He was an Ashtabula County resident for several years after moving from Michigan.
Mr. Alderman had been a self - employed dairy farmer in this area. He also had worked for Gamble - Skamo in Michigan, before retiring in 1972.
He was a 1927 graduate of Rome High School.
He enjoyed hunting and trying to learn something new every day.
Survivors include his wife; three nephews, Charles, Bob and Eric Alderman; and two nieces, Charlene Taylor and Beatrice Day.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Fern Ellis; two sisters, Gladys Moyer and Beatrice Kallin; and a brother, Merl G. Alderman.
Funeral is 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Childs - Williams Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 96 State Route 7, Pierpont Township. Burial will be in Batavia Station cemetery in Coldwater, Mich.
Calling hours are 6 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul Homes, in care of 339 East Jamestown Road, Greenville, Pa. 16125.

Joseph Beck Sr.
AUSTINBURG TOWNSHIP - Joseph Beck Sr. died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Geneva Memorial Hospital.
Burton Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, is handling arrangements.

Mary C. Benze
GENEVA - Jonathan Circle resident Mary C. Benze, 81, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born June 7, 1918, in Lakewood, she was a daughter of John R. and Mary (Robertson) Foster.
She married James G. Benze on June 18, 1938.
She was graduated from Shaw High School in Cleveland and attended Forrestone Mather College in Cleveland.
She was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Madison.
She had volunteered at the Geneva Food Pantry and was involved with the Saybrook school PTA when her children were young.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, James G. Jr. of Bethel Park, Pa. and Ted of Parma; a daughter, Mary Jo Pelley of Pasadena, Md.; and five grandsons, Charles and Timothy Pelley and Christopher, Jonathan and James A. Benze.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Bruce R. Benze.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3050 McMackin Road, Madison, with the Rev. Howard Davis officiating. Burial will be in Saybrook Township cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Kennedy - Billman Funeral Home, 323 South Broadway, Geneva.

Ruth Joanne DeAngelis
ASHTABULA - Carson Road resident Ruth Joanne DeAngelis, 68, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
Funeral is 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Alex Derecsky
PARKMAN TOWNSHIP - Alex Derecsky, 85, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at his daughter's home, following a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 15, 1914, in Cleveland, he was a son of John and Julia (Balasz) Derecsky.
The former Auburn Township resident had lived in Parkman Township for eight years.
He was a graduate of Mantua High School.
He was the owner of Auburn Septic Service and Derecsky Nursery. He retired from TRW in 1977.
He had a private pilot license and enjoyed flying.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary James of Parkman Township and Betty Rozhon of Lake Milton; four grandchildren, Geoffrey Cox, Lisa Greathouse, William Long and Gary Rozhon; five great - grandchildren; and a sister, Gizelle Brown of Auburn Township.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Greathouse; a grandson, Randy Reihard; and a brother, John Derecsky.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
The Russell Golden Rule Funeral Service, 15670 West High St., Middlefield, is in charge of arrangements.

Charles E. Fink Sr.
MADISON - Charles E. Fink Sr., 72, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at home.
Born Oct. 2, 1927, in Pennsylvania, he was a son of Odessa Pearl (McKleveen) and William Dewey Fink.
He married Aline "Sally" Viall on Nov. 9, 1957, in Ashtabula.
Mr. Fink was an area resident since 1951. He worked as a crib attendant at Fischer Body, retiring after nearly 40 years of service. He was a member of the United Auto Workers.
He was Army veteran who served in Germany during World War II.
He was a long - standing member of the North Madison Church of Christ.
He was the Senior Citizen of the Year for both the Madison Senior Center and East End Nutrition Site. He was a four - year volunteer for the Madison Old - Fashioned Days.
He enjoyed attending Madison Coin Club meetings.
Survivors include his wife; eight children, Donna Fink of Painesville, Anna Roux of Ashtabula, Diana Reynolds of Jefferson, Charles Jr. of Warren, Michael and James, both of Madison, Laura Shears of Ravenna and Cindy Torok of Madison; six grandchildren, David Scharping, Jessica Hornbeck, Patrick Coffman, Samantha and Jennifer Fink and Payge Reynolds; four stepgrandchildren, James and Tina Roux, Chuckie Reynolds and Sandra Nicholas; two great - grandchildren; and four sisters, Katherine Laughrey of Pennsylvania, Margaret Hutka of Cleveland, Victoria McCabe of Geneva and Mae Letosky of Pennsylvania.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Randall Keith Wadsworth Jr.; a brother, Wilbur Fink; and a sister, Mary Ritchey.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. Burial will be in Madison Memorial cemetery on Arcola Road in Madison.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison Senior Center, 2938 Hubbard Road, Madison 44057.

Ellen M. Koski
ASHTABULA - Ellen M. Koski, 84, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at the Country Club Retirement Center.
Born March 18, 1915, in Ashtabula, she was a daughter of Ivar and Alma (Nieminen) Hyvarinen.
She married Harold Koski on Aug. 8, 1936.
The lifelong area resident was a 1933 graduate of Harbor High School.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Joanne Lyons of Stowe; two grandsons, Douglas and David Lyons; and three great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Private graveside service is Tuesday at Edgewood cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Lutheran Church, 933 Michigan Ave., Ashtabula. Envelopes will be available at the Ross - Billman Funeral Home, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

Donald W. Nelson
MADISON, Tenn. - Former Pierpont Township resident Donald W. Nelson, 81, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at the Tennessee Christian Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced by the Childs - Williams Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 96 State Route 7, Pierpont Township.

Nellie Riffle
ASHTABULA - Nellie Riffle, 90, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
The Burton Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, is handling arrangements.

Carl C. Thomas
CADIZ, Ky. - Former Geneva resident Carl C. Thomas, 86, of Cadiz, Ky., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000.
Born Dec. 4, 1913, in LaFayette, Ky., he was a son of Ellis Wade and Amanda (Robertson) Thomas.
Before his retirement in 1972, he was president and owner of Geneva Contractors Inc.
He was a member of The United Church in Geneva, where he had served as a deacon, trustee and on the Stewardship Committee.
He was a former member of the Geneva Federal Savings & Loan Association Board Of Directors, a former president of the Geneva Kiwanis Club and a former president of the Ashtabula County Shrine Club.
He was a member of the Geneva Masonic Lodge 334 and a 32nd degree Scottish rite Freemason. He was a member of the Al Koran Shrine in Cleveland.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Beth of Cadiz, Ky.; a daughter, Carolyn Heflin of Geneva; a grandson, Derrick Heflin of Columbus; two stepsons, Allen and Jeffery Beard of Kentucky; and a brother and sister, both of Kentucky.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred (Loftus); three brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home, 2504 South Virginia St., Hopkinsville, Ky. Burial will be in Greenhill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to The United Church, 75 South Broadway, Geneva 44041.

Bobby K. Watkins
ROCK CREEK - Station Street resident Bobby K. Watkins, 63, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at his residence, after being diagnosed with cancer about three weeks ago.
Born July 2, 1936, in Cleveland, he was a son of Jay and Cleo (Schilling) Watkins.
He married Grace M. (Blancy) Gill on Sept. 28, 1984, in Rock Creek.
He had been an area resident since 1970, after moving from Mentor.
He retired from Ohio Bell in 1984 after 20 years of service. Most recently, he was a driver for Lake Co. Auto.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Force and served in Germany during the Korean War.
Survivors include his mother, Cleo Frantz of Kirtland; his wife; two sons, Scott K. Watkins of Georgetown, Ky. and Will L. Watkins of Stamping Ground, Ky.; two stepdaughters, Kathy M. Laughlin of Madison and Karen E. Barton of Bridgeport, W.Va.; a stepson, Kevin E. Gill of Easley, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Desi, Lauren, Matt, Kelcic, Morgan, Korrie and Michael; a sister, Marilyn Hayden of Barker, N.Y.; and a brother, Gerald Watkins of Kirtland.
He was preceded in death by his father; his first wife, Doris (Coffman) Watkins; a brother, Chuck Watkins; and his stepfather, Lloyd Frantz.
Memorial service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Rock Creek United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Keith Peachey officiating. Cremation will be at the Family Care Group Cremation Center in Jefferson.
There will be no calling hours.

Noah E. Wimbs
GENEVA - Austin Road resident Noah E. Wimbs, 2, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at his home.
Born Dec. 1, 1997, in Ashtabula, he was a son of Greg and Grace (Talcott) Wimbs.
He attended the First Assembly of God Church, the Toddler Time preschool and Jazzercise in Geneva with his mother.
Survivors include his parents; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Nancy Talcott of Geneva; paternal grandmother, Rosemary Smith of Trumbull Township; a stepgrandfather, Lou Smith of Trumbull Township; and five aunts, Cindy Griffin of Geneva, Tara Talcott of Ypsilanti, Mich., Vicky Ward of Ashtabula, Theresa Putt of Florida and Michele Wimbs of Trumbull Township.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Earl Wimbs and an aunt, Lisa Wimbs.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kennedy - Billman Funeral Home, 323 South Broadway, Geneva, with the Rev. Duane Ball officiating. Burial will be in Trumbull Township cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the church and the funeral home.

Thomas A. Gary
TAMPA, Fla. - Jefferson native Thomas A. Gary, 58, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, while getting ready to watch the Cleveland Browns game.
Born Nov. 2, 1940, in Jefferson, he was the son of Harry and Mildred (Bliss) Gary. He lived in Nashville, Tenn., for 13 years before moving to Tampa in 1993.
A Navy veteran, Mr. Gary was an engineering technician with Law Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc. for 31 years.
He married the former Nita K. Carnes on July 31, 1971, in Jacksonville, Fla. His favorite times were with his family and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Gary is survived by two children, Timothy S. of Big Pine Key, Fla.; and Tracey S. of Tampa; his mother of Jefferson; and a sister, Joyce McClintock of Jefferson.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, David, in infancy.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church, 85 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. William L. Offutt officiating.
Burial of ashes will follow in Oakdale cemetery, Jefferson.
The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the burial.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be at the church.

William Jacobs
BRADENTON, Fla. - William Jacobs, 87, of Bradenton, Fla., died Sept. 9, 1999, at Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 15, 1912, in Sulvaki, Poland, Mr. Jacobs relocated to Manatee County from Crystal River, Fla., in 1994.
He owned the Hilltop Tavern and the Windsor Inn in Windsor, Ohio.
Survivors include a daughter, Rita Sanders of Bradenton; a son, Richard Jacobs of Orwell; a sister, Mildred Means of Cashiers, N.C.; a brother, Walter Jacobs of Sarasota, Fla.; five grandchildren; and three great - grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday in the Griffith - Cline Funeral Home Manasota Chapel, in Bradenton, Fla.
Memorial services will be held in Ohio at a later date in Ohio.

Thomas Peter Ritter
KINSMAN - Thomas Peter Ritter, 73, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at his home.
Born Sept. 20, 1925, in Youngstown, he was the son of Stuart and Susan (Duffy) Ritter and was a longtime Kinsman resident.
He married Margaret E. Papp on Aug. 2, 1947.
Mr. Ritter was a steelworker for Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. for 35 years. He also worked five years for Eastman Kodak Co. in California.
He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kinsman and a former member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Struthers and St. Edward's Church in Youngstown.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Disabled American Veterans, the LTV National Management Association and mentored with Junior Achievement.
His hobbies included fixing cars, visiting friends, coin collecting, traveling around the United States and puttering around the house. He also enjoyed airplanes, going to air shows, and playing checkers with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Thomas H. of Alexandria, Va., and James E. and Mark C., both of Youngstown; six daughters, Margaret A. Cleckner of Austintown, Suzanne M. of Delaware, Charmaine A. Jabr of Morgan Hill, Calif., Mary E. Shambaugh of Fremont, Calif., Judy M. Reynolds of Youngstown, and Cathie L. DeMarco of Riverbank, Calif.; two brothers, Paul of Struthers and William of Youngstown; four sisters, Dorothy Fox of Youngstown, Helen Nogay of Hermitage, Pa., Pauline Weimer and Gladys Buksar both of Boardman; 25 grandchildren; and 10 great - grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kinsman, with Rev. Larry E. Frient presiding. Burial will be in Kinsman cemetery.
A luncheon will be served at the church following the graveside committal service.
Calling hours are 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Baumgardner Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 8569 Main St., Kinsman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
