Harold E. Welser
ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP - Orchard Road resident Harold E. Welser, 84, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at his home following an illness.
Born June 8, 1915, in Ashtabula, he was a son of Sylvester and Ethel (Bolte) Welser.
He married
Ina Walker on March 26, 1937.
The lifelong area resident worked for the New York Central Railroad and as a mechanic for Calendar Chevrolet and Childs Pontiac. For 21 years, he was an employee of the maintenance department with the Buckeye Local School District, until retirement.
He was an Army veteran who served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II.
He was a member of the Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon. Welser belonged to several motorcycle clubs and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 943.
His hobbies were bowling, golfing and camping. He especially enjoyed music and reading.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Darla, at home; two granddaughters: Tammy Manual and Candie Beals; a great - grandson; a brother, Robert Welser, of Ashtabula; and a sister, Beverly Maltz, of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at the Ross - Billman Funeral Home, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Susanne Carter, of the Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Coburn Addair
DORSET TOWNSHIP - Coburn Addair, 64, of Route I93, died Friday, Sept. 1O, 1999, at his home, following a struggle with cancer.
Mr. Addair was born Aug. 15, 1935, in Bradshaw, W. Va. He was the son of Noah and Lola (Smith) Addair.
An Ashtabula County resident since 1953, he lived in Dorset for the past three decades.
He married
Mary Jane Kurpyl on Nov. 25, 1955, in Lebanon, Va.
A 25 - year employeee of the RMI Sodium Plant, he retired in 1991.
He was affiliated with the Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church in West Virginia, and was a member of Local 7509 OCAW.
He enjoyed entertaining and spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved to camp, fish for trout, perch and walleye and pitch horseshoes.
His other interests included farming, gardening, woodworking, watching and feeding hummingbirds, playing pinochle and listening to country and western and bluegrass music.
He also was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Mr. Addair is survived by his wife; two sons, Tom of Dorset Township and Norman G. of Denmark Township; five grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest of Mt. Hope, W. Va. and Roland of North Kingsville; and three sisters, Shirley Thornton of Hopeville, Va., Carol West of West Carrollton and Brenda White of Statesville, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Ted Schienke of the Chardon Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and the Rev. Harlan Nefstead of the Dorset Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Dorset cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Helmie K. Bollman
ASHTABULA - Saybula Drive resident Helmie K. Bollman, 86, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.

Fred Judson Heath
ANDOVER - Fred Judson Heath, 65, of Hawthorne Drive died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at home.
He was born June 21, 1934, in Painesville. He lived in Andover the past five years.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Heath owned and operated Fred's Gulf in Geneva.
He was a veteran of the U.S.Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, several children, a brother, and a sister.
No service or calling hours will be observed.

William H. Schlabach
CANTON - William H. Schlabach, 89, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at his home.
He was born Jan. 29, 1910, in Geauga County, the son of Harvey and Rebecca (Schrock) Schlabach. A longtime county resident, he had lived the past 21 months in Canton.
Mr. Schlabach loved woodworking. He was a carpenter and custodian at Burton Elementary School for 10 years.
He also was a member of Maple View Mennonite Church, and taught Sunday School there for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary; a daughter, Sara Lohiser of Burton; a son, William of Canton; three grandchildren; a brother, Andrew of Middlefield; and a sister, Sara Weaver, also of Middlefield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Schlabach; and two sisters, Ada and Marian Miller.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at Maple View Mennonite Church, 14890 Burton - Windsor Road, Burton Township, with Pastor D. Ray Mullet officiating. Burial will be in Maple View cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Elizabeth Bensky Tocco
MADISON - Elizabeth Bensky Tocco, 52, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
A Madison resident for 50 years, she was born Oct. 26, 1946, in Charleston, W. Va., the daughter of Albert and Minnie Louise (Baker) Bensky.
Mrs. Tocco was a homemaker and member of Immaculate Conception Church. She also loved to fish.
Survivors include a daughter, Tina Seneff of Cleveland; a son, Brian Seneff of Mansfield; her father of Madison; two grandchildren; and a brother, Albert Bensky of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her mother, in 1994.
Graveside service is 9:15 a.m. at Madison Memorial cemetery, Arcola Road. The Rev. Luigi Miola of Immaculate Conception Church will officiate. Burial in the cemetery will follow.
No calling hours will be observed. The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, is in charge of arrangements.
Daisy M. Adams
ASHTABULA - Daisy M. Adams, 104, of West 54th Street died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
Born March 3, 1895, in Denmark Township, she was a lifelong area resident, the daughter of Alonzo and Chloe (Rugg) Johnson.
Mrs. Adams worked for Ward Products Inc. from which she retired in 1950. From 1910 to 1915, she was employed at the Hotel James in Ashtabula.
She belonged to First Christian Church, Ashtabula and was a member of East Plymouth Grange for more than 60 years. She was a Seventh Degree Grange member. She also volunteered with Share A Christmas and the Mother of Sorrows Nutrition Center.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed baking cookies and pies.
Survivors include a son, Archie of Ashtabula; a daughter, Betty Harnist of Bradenton, Fla.; two grandsons, Terry and Gary Harnist; and one great - granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Adams, in 1950; two daughters, Beverly Adams in 1944 and Myrtle J. Riedel in 1989; a brother, Elmer Johnson and three sisters, Grace Hammond, Mittie Salca and Nettie Johnson.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ross - Billman Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Kathleen Adams of First Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery.

Colletta Atzberger
CLARIDON TOWNSHIP - Colletta Atzberger, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at UHHS Geauga Hospital.
Born June 26, 1910, in Cleveland, she was a daughter of Joseph and Barbara A. Atzberger.
The former Chardon Township resident had lived in Orwell for 10 years.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Walter and Cyril Atzberger.
A private family funeral will be held. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Avon.
The Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon, is handling arrangements.
Ruth A. Barker
ALBION, Pa. - Ruth A. Barker, 78, of State Line Road died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie.
She was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Cleveland, the daughter of Charles and Treva (Penney) Chapin.
An Albion resident for most of her life, she was a member of Cranesville, Pa., Baptist Church. She also belonged to the Conneaut Garden Club.
When at leisure, Mrs. Barker enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and making crafts and dolls.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Lou Estes of West Moreland, Tenn., and Susan Ruth Vannatter of Albion; three sons, Roger of Siloam Springs, Ark., James of Jackson, Miss., and Daniel of Hong Kong; seven grandchildren; one great - grandson; three sisters, Pauline Berry, Norene Barnes and Laverne Jones, all of Arkansas; and a brother, Roger Chapin of Perry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; and a daughter, Louise George.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at the Thompson - Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Darrin White of Cranesville Bible Church officiating. Burial will be in East Conneaut cemetery.

Dean M. Charles
ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP - Dean M. "Dino" Charles, 39, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Charles was born Aug. 22, 1960, in Ashtabula. He was the son of Richard and Joan (Lander) Charles.
He was self - employed and enjoyed drawing, hunting, fishing and time spent with family.
Survivors include his parents; a son, Anthony of Ashtabula; and three brothers, Anthony of Kingsville Township, Joseph of Plymouth Township and Vincent of Jefferson.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Mary Charles and Donald and Gertrude Lander.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday at the Zaback - Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. David Adams will officiate. Interment will be in St. Joseph cemetery, Conneaut.

Dorothy DiNicola
NORTH KINGSVILLE - Funeral for Dorothy Mae DiNicola, 81, of North Kingsville will be at noon today at Zaback - Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Brian Wright, associate pastor of First Assembly of God, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph cemetery.

Mrs. DiNicola died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at the Jefferson Geriatrics Center.
She was born July 15, 1918, in Jefferson, the daughter of Roy and Vinnie (Fullwhiler) Champlin.
She had been a resident of North Kingsville since 1977.
Survivors include three sons, Gerald of Conneaut, Ronald of North Kingsville and Paul of Erie; five daughters, Barbara Estok of Ashtabula, Rebecca Fromknecht of Conneaut, Rosemary Harrelson of Harpersfield, Patricia Hopkins and Diana Brown of Conneaut; 23 grandchildren; 20 great - grandchildren; a sister, Violet Mains of Austinburg; two brothers, Alva of Conneaut and Howard of Garrettsville; a half - brother, Donald Champlin of Conneaut; and three half - sisters, Betty Payne of Cleveland, Freda Waldran of Jefferson and Ruth Stiddle of New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John, in 1998; a son, Joseph in 1969; and two brothers, Ralph and Harvey Champlin.
Ethel F. Jackson
JEFFERSON - Former village resident Ethel F. Jackson, 92, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Camden Clark Hospital in Parkerburg, W. Va.
Mrs. Jackson was born March 13, 1907, in West Hamlin, W. Va. She was the daughter of Rufus M. and Frances (Thompson) Jaynes.
A West Hamlin resident for many years, she moved to Jefferson in 1982, and to South Carolina in 1986. She also lived in Florida from 1990 to 1993 and at the West Virginia Masonic Home since 1993.
A one - time member of Highlawn Baptist Church, Huntington, W. Va., she was active at the Jefferson Senior Center. She also enjoyed social activities at her nursing home.
Survivors include three daughters, Iris Auciello of Jefferson, Ethel J. Jackson of Hanford, Calif., and Alice F. Woomer of Camp Hill, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; several great - grandchildren and great - great - grandchildren; and two sisters, Maude Atkins of Westland, Mich., and Molly Hale of Virginia.
Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar T., in 1981; a son, Oscar; a daughter, Anna L. Peterson; two brothers, Walter and Jess Jaynes; and two sisters, Iva Smith and Edith Watson.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49. West Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Pastor Kenneth Woomer, son - in - law of Mrs. Jackson, officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale cemetery.

Jurl Johnson
WILLIAMSFIELD - Funeral for Jurl Johnson, 96, of Williamsfield will be at 10 a.m. today at Williamsfield Center cemetery with the Rev. James Austin officiating.
Mrs. Johnson died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Andover.
She was born Jan. 30, 1903, in Many, La., the daughter of Shep and Francis (Newton) Sweet.
She married
Jim R.H. Johnson in 1917.
A homemaker, she was a resident of Williamsfield for 34 years. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Many. She enjoyed country music, watching football and baseball and traveling.
Survivors include a daughter, Bernice Watson of Williamsfield; a son, Roy H. Johnson of Los Angeles; a sister, Ruby Barton of Many; 10 grandchildren; 17 great - grandchildren; and two great - great - grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1965; four brothers, Lewis, William, Jerrymon and Brooksy Sweet; eight sisters, Ninnie Singleton, Lear Jones, Mainee Matlock, Sylvia Veasley, Eulanise Dixon, Eloise Cross, Catherine Lawler and Iodine Ashley; a son, Jim Thomas Johnson; grandson, Wyett Watson; and a great - grandson.
