Shirley A. Bish
CONNEAUT - Shirley A. Bish, 64, of West Main Road, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at her home, following a 13 - year illness.
The daughter of Frank and Ruby (Acres) Tredway, she was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Oak Hill, W.Va.
She married Curtis L. Bish Oct. 29, 1951.
A homemaker for much of her life, Mrs. Bish also worked at Molded Fiberglass and the GE Base Plant.
She enjoyed baking, decorating cakes and making crafts.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Dianna Barnhart of New Marshfield and Linda S. Bennett and Reschell Brennen, both of Conneaut; a son, Danny Bish of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Irene Campbell of Okeechobee, Fla. and Virginia Smith of Darwin; a brother, Edward Tredway of New London, N.C.; 12 grandchildren and five great - grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dana Smith and Stella Nickels.
Service is 1 p.m. Friday at the Marcy Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Robert Brooks, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Contributions in Mrs. Bish's memory may be made to Hospice of Ashtabula County, 2420 Lake Ave., Ashtabula. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

James L. Meade
JEFFERSON - James L. Meade, 61, Route 46 North, Jefferson, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where he had been a patient the past two weeks with heart and kidney failure.
The son of Albert C. and Grace L. (Bassett) Meade, he was born Sept. 12, 1938, in Jefferson. He was a Jefferson resident all his life.
He was the owner of Meade Material Sand and Gravel in North Kingsville since 1972. He previously worked for A.C. Meade Excavating, a family owned business, and Ashtabula Bow Socket.
An Army veteran, he served with the 101st Airborne Division, achieving the rank of sergeant. He was a member of the Adoniram Lodge 517 F&A.M. in Akron.
Survivors include his wife, Janice W. (Naskali) Meade; one son, James L. Meade Jr. of Jefferson; six sisters, Anna Pinney of Geneva, Ethel Dumperth and Mary Lou Plut, both of Jefferson, Ruth King of Cuyahoga Falls, Martha Swanson of North Kingsville and Carol Evans of Akron; and one brother, William E. Meade of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Pheasant; and a half - sister, Lauris Chalker.
A private graveside service will be held Friday.
The Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49 West Jefferson St., Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.

Madonna Kolbenschlag
SANTIAGO, Chile - Sister Madonna Kolbenschlag, H.M., 64, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, in Santiago, Chile.
The daughter of William G. and Maude (Mathews) Kolbenschlag, she was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Cleveland.
She graduated from Lourdes Academy in Cleveland in 1953.
An educator, clinical psychologist, writer and lecturer, she taught at St. Joseph High School from 1961 to 1965.
Sister Madonna held several degrees, including a bachelor of arts from Notre Dame College in Cleveland; a master's of arts in English and a doctorate in philosophy and literature from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.; and a master's and doctorate in clinical psychology from Fielding Institute in Santa Barbara, Calif.
In 1996, she founded the Women's International Electronic University. That same year she was invited to speak about the empowerment of women through technology at a conference in Leipzig, Germany.
She was best known as a social philosopher and author of six books dealing with women's development and gender issues. At the time of her death, she was in Chile collaborating with the School of Ecofeminist Spirituality and Ethics.
Survivors include her mother of Fairview Park; two brothers, Joseph of Lakewood and Michael of San Clemente, Calif.; and fellow members of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary Community.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, William.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Friday at Villa Maria Chapel, Villa Maria, Pa.
Calling hours are 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at McGorray Brothers Funeral Home, 14133 Detroit Ave., Lakewood; 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Villa Maria Chapel.
A wake service will be held at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at Villa Maria Chapel.

Linda J. Harden - Fay
CONCORD TOWNSHIP - Linda J. Harden - Fay, 60, of Concord Township, died Feb. 1, 2000, at her home.
The daughter of Abraham and Riba (Fisher) Lazzanoff, she was born Jan. 7, 1940, in Cleveland.
She worked 23 years as a bus driver for Chardon Local Schools, retiring Jan. 1. She also was a part - time waitress at the Viking Restaurant in Munson Township for 25 years.
Her hobbies included crafts, yard work, gardening and flowers.
Survivors include her former husband, Robert V. Harden Sr. of Concord Township; two sons, Robert V. Harden Jr. of Mentor - on - the - Lake and Richard T. Harden of Dayton; four grandchildren, Jennifer J. Strike of Concord Township, Andrea L. Strike of Mentor and Andrew and Leigh Harden of Dayton.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra A. Strike.
Service is 1:30 p.m. Friday at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St. (Route 44), in Chardon, with the Rev. Robert Gaston of Lake Hospital Systems, officiating.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Burial will be in Concord Township cemetery in Concord Township.

Connie L. Hooten
TROY TOWNSHIP - Connie L. Hooten, 53, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, from injuries she suffered in an automobile accident.
Mrs. Hooten was born June 21, 1946, in Uniontown Pa., the daughter of Oscar and Anna Moody. Formerly of Huntsburg, she had lived in Troy Township for four years.
A graduate of Cleveland West Tech High School, she attended Cuyahoga Community College for several semesters. She taught special education courses at Orchard Elementary School in Cleveland for several years, and managed the Middlefield Burger King at the time of her death.
She attended the Abundant Life Church of God in Middlefield and was treasurer of the Geneva Camera Club.
She enjoyed shopping and collecting bells and cow figurines.
Survivors include her husband, Everette E. Hooten Jr.; six children, Everette Dwayne of Parma, Fred Perry of Madison, James Darrin of Lorain, Kathryn Davidson and Lisa Williams of Ashtabula and Michele Nine of Kingsville Township; two sisters, Patti Ann Thompson of Smithfield, Pa. and Dollie Lester of Coalwood, W.Va.; and 21 grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Hooten was preceded in death by a son, Edward; and a brother, Sonny Moody.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Brownfield Funeral Home of Smithfield, Pa. Interment will be in Mount Moriah Baptist cemetery, also in Smithfield.
Local calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Russell Golden Rule Funeral Service, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield.

Joseph R. Gaggiano
ASHTABULA - Services for Joseph R. Gaggiano, 69, of Ashtabula, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with the Rev. Philip Miller presiding.
Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church.
Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
Mr. Gaggiano, the son of Louis and Louisa (Laurello) Gaggiano, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, in the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.

Judith I. Fiedler
SANIBEL, Fla. - Judith Inman Fiedler, 60, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, in Sanibel, Fla.
She was the daughter of Harold and Jo Inman of Jefferson.
Despite suffering from multiple sclerosis for more than 15 years, she traveled the world extensively.
Mrs. Fiedler and her husband, John, lived in many places during their 40 - year marriage, including Dallas, Boston, Chicago and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She especially enjoyed living in Hudson and Akron, Ohio.
The Judith Inman Fiedler Scholarship is named for her. It provides full support for Kent State University Ashtabula students who wish to complete their degrees at the Kent campus.
Survivors include her husband of Chicago; a son, Mike of Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters, Jill Fischer and Caroline Fruth, both of Dallas; three grandchildren, Andrew, Mark and Thomas Fiedler; a sister, Darlene Inman of Jefferson; and a brother, John Inman of Jefferson.
Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fleming Funeral Home Inc., a Family Care Group affiliate, 49 West Jefferson St., Jefferson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 910 West Van Buren, 4th Floor, Chicago, Ill. 60607, or to Kent State University, Ashtabula Campus, 3325 West 13th St., Ashtabula, OH 44004.

Gerald Joseph Bauer
SHEFFIELD TOWNSHIP - Gerald Joseph Bauer, 62, of Sheffield Township, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, in University Hospitals in Cleveland.
The son of Joseph and May (Kostalek) Bauer, he was born Jan. 5, 1938, in Ashtabula.
He was a graduate of Ashtabula High School and the Cleveland Engineering Institute.
He was a member of St. Andrew Parish and an Army veteran.
A tool designer, he was employed by the former Bow Socket of Ashtabula and R.M. Kerner of Erie.
Mr. Bauer's hobbies fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Judy (Davis) Bauer; two daughters Alicia Bauer of Houston and Katie DeRose of Medina; three grandchildren; and a brother, Bill Mooney of Tucson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service is 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Andrew's Church.
There will be no calling hours.
Guerriero Funeral Home, 6280 South Main St., North Kingsville, is in charge of arrangements.

Faye J. Vandersluis
FREMONT - Faye Jackson Vandersluis, 72, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Fremont.
The daughter of Cornelius and Mae Carrey, she was born April 2, 1927, in Conneaut.
A homemaker, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fremont, where she sang in the choir.
Survivors include her husband, Francis J. Vandersluis, whom she married Oct. 28, 1950, in Conneaut; one daughter, Sue Stotz of Fremont; two sons, David and Chris Vandersluis, both of Fremont; three grandchildren; three great - grandchildren; one sister, Pat Jackson of Florida.
She was preceded in death by a great - granddaughter and sisters Vernie Cropeks and Jackie Driscoll.
Service is 1 p.m. today at Keller - Ochs - Koch Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Nagel, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
No calling hours will be observed.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Mary E. Kiehl
NEW LYME - Mary E. Kiehl, 66, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren.
The daughter of Charles and Marie McConnell Delozier, she was born Jan. 23, 1934, in Cresson, Pa.
A former Hartsgrove resident, she had lived in New Lyme Township for 16 years. She graduated from Mount Carmel High School in Camden, N.J., and the Ashtabula Vocational School.
She married Victor F. Kiehl Dec. 25, 1963, in Franklinville, N.J.
Mrs. Kiehl was a house parent for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Joplin, Mo. for three years.
She was a member of Maplegrove Church of Christ in Austinburg; and a past matron for the Order of Eastern Star Lily Chapter 21. She also was a life member of Andover VFW Auxiliary 9519; a member of Andover Eagles 4035; and the Ashtabula County Wildlife Conservation League.
Her hobbies included collecting dolls, working crossword puzzles, and reading devotionals and "Lady Mary" cards.
Survivors include her husband; a brother, Charles Delozier of Palm City, Fla.; a sister, Edna Mae House of Williamson, N.J.; and a son, Victor F. II, of Kansas City, Kan.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Thomas and Michael Delozier.
No service or calling hours are scheduled. Mrs. Kiehl's body will be cremated.
Contributions may be given to the Pymatuning Community Church in care of Tender Mercies Kitchen.
The Paine Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Sophie Ann Greenlee
CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. - Sophie Ann Greenlee, 79, State Highway 86, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Meadville Medical Center, Meadville, Pa., following a short illness.
Her husband, Robert L. Greenlee, whom she married Sept. 16, 1961, died Jan. 24, 2000.
The daughter of Frank and Rose (Joslin) Ross, she was born March 10, 1920, in Erie County, Pa.
She was a homemaker, but many years ago worked for a short time at the Marx Toy Co. in Girard, Pa. She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Cambridge Springs.
Survivors include one son, Larry Tome of Conneaut; a stepson, Robert Greenlee of Alma, Ark.; two stepdaughters, Mary Holowach of Tupelo, Miss., and Eleanore McKinney of Baldwin, Miss.; nine grandchildren and 13 great - grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.
Calling hours are 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on McClellan Street in Cambridge Springs, at which time a memorial service will be held with John Horoschuck, minister, officiating.
The Van Matre Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs is in charge of arrangements.
Cremation will follow the service.

Irene L. Childs
STREETSBORO - Irene L. Childs, 96, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Maple Wood Care Center in Streetsboro, following a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 25, 1904, in Newell, Pa., she was the daughter of John and Jo Hanna (Olds) Wood. She married Horace Childs in 1946.
Mrs. Childs worked for the Ashtabula County Welfare Department for 20 years as a social worker. She retired in 1969.
She belonged, over the years, to Willoughby Presbyterian Church, Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church and the East Side Presbyterian Church.
An avid reader, she traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe.
Survivors include two sons, Horace of Jefferson and Richard of Winter Park, Fla.; a daughter, Joanne Kraft of Ravenna; two sisters, Althea Maas of Parma and Georgia Layman of Ashtabula; 19 grandchildren; 32 great - grandchildren; and one great - great - grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Robert and Byron; and a brother, Eugene Whitney.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at the Oakdale cemetery, Jefferson. Interment will follow.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are being handled by the Mallory - DeHaven - Carlson Golden Rule Funeral Home, Garrettsville.

Ruthe E. Bruce
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Ruthe E. Bruce, 94, a former Conneaut resident, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at her home.
The daughter of Clyde B. and Iva (Crumbley) McKenzie, she was born Nov. 24, 1905, 2000, in Wellsville.
She lived in Conneaut until 1969, when she and her husband, George H., moved to Port Charlotte, Fla.
From 1990 to 1997, she lived at Merrywood Retirement Community in Charlotte. In 1997, she moved in with her son.
While in Conneaut, she belonged to the United Church of Christ and taught Sunday school there for many years. She also was a member of Sorosis and the Auxiliary Grey Ladies at Brown Memorial Hospital.
An avid bridge player, she also enjoyed golf.
Survivors include two sons, Richard H. of Charlotte and Donald G. of Conneaut; five grandchildren, Mindy Engstrom, Beth Stiles, Robert T. Bruce, Robin J. Bonfiglio and Donald S. Bruce; 11 great - grandchildren; and two sisters, Hazel Stern of Orlando and Jolene Burridge of Winter Park, Fla.; and a brother, Robert McKenzie of Burton.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, in 1976; a great - granddaughter, Jacqueline Bonfiglio; a sister, Jean Clark; and a brother, Edwin McKenzie.
Private memorial service will be Saturday at the Marcy Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut. The Rev. Glen Warner, assisted by the Rev. Walter Coy, of United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Conneaut Glenwood cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Contributions may be given to United Church of Christ in Conneaut or Hospice of Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, N.C., 28204. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
