Oliver H. Pekkola
CLEVELAND - Oliver H. Pekkola, 86, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000.
He had lived in Ashtabula for 70 years before moving to Cleveland in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Olga (Evergreen) Pekkola; one son, Oliver "Hank" Pekkola; three daughters, Patricia Lazor, Sandra Huddleston and Barbara Hurst of Heath; eight grandchildren; and four great - grandchildren.
Services will be private.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are being handled by Zeis - McGreevey Funeral Home, 16105 Detroit Ave., Lakewood.
Harold W. Finke
MADISON - Harold W. Finke, 72, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at LakeEast Hospital, Painesville.
Born Jan. 12, 1928, in Cleveland, he was the son of William Miholus and Celia Katherine (Wilson) Finke.
He had worked as a custodian for the U.S. Postal Service since 1978. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include a cousin, Donald Kinkoski of South Russell.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Military service will be held at noon Thursday at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, followed by a graveside service at 1 p.m. in Crown Hill cemetery, 8592 Darrow Road, Twinsburg.
Roy E. Yonce
HUNTSBURG - Roy E. Yonce, 71, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital, Claridon Township.
Born June 10, 1928, in Peachtree, N.C., he was the son of Osborne and Ida (Wilson) Yonce. He was a 40 - year resident of the Huntsburg area.
He was employed as a millright for the Coit Road Fisher Body plant of General Motors, where he retired.
Mr. Yonce served with the Army during the Korean conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Peachtree, N.C., Baptist Church.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Leota (Moore) Yonce of Huntsburg; two sons, John and Steven, both of Huntsburg; a sister, Grace Tallant of Franklin, N.C.; four brothers, J.D., Bill, Paul, and Harold, all of Murphy, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Steven, Melissa, and Ashley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Carl; and two sisters, Nell Panne and Peggy Ann.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Paine Funeral Home, 140 E. Main St., Orwell.
Service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Townson - Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, N.C. Interment will be in Aquone cemetery, Nanahala, N.C.
Grace L. Dye
CONNEAUT - Liberty Street resident Grace L. Dye, 82, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at the Country Club Retirement Center in Ashtabula following a one - year illness.
Born Oct. 9, 1916, she was the daughter of Howard E. and Julia L. (Ehrlich) McIntosh. She was a lifelong Conneaut resident.
She married
Dr. George A. Dye in 1936.
Mrs. dye was a homemaker.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ; the Fortnightly Club; the Ashtabula chapter of the American Red Cross; was a member and past president of the Gray Ladies of Brown Memorial Hospital; and was active in planning reunions for her graduating class of 1934 from Conneaut High School.
A lifelong Democrat, she worked at the polls on Election Day and enjoyed traveling and working in her garden.

Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Fralic of Charlotte, N.C., and Sara Foster of Warren; six grandchildren, Julie Petrilla, Meg Conn, Paul Fralic, Nancy Fralic, Stephanie Wolters and Chris McDonald; and four great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1990; a daughter, Grace McDonald in 1991; and a brother, George McIntosh.
Service is 2 p.m. Monday at the Marcy Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Rev. Walter Coy, pastor of the United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood cemetery.

Laura W. Quinn
GIRARD, Pa. _ Prospect Street resident, Laura W. Quinn, 89, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, in Hamot Medical Center.
Born Feb. 22, 1916, in Conneaut, she was the daughter of Earl and Alice (Fair) Thayer. He lived in Conneaut until 1992 when she moved to Girard to live with her daughter.
Mrs. Quinn enjoyed traveling, flowers and her family.
Survivors include her husband, William Quinn of Conneaut; two daughters, Marilynn of Girard, and Lauretta Brown of Conneaut; three grandchildren; and two great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William H. Thayer.
Private service is 1 p.m. Monday at the Thompson - Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut with Tim Kraus, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating.
There will beno calling hours.
Interment will be in East Conneaut cemetery.
Clara F. Valvoda
ASHTABULA - Clara F. Valvoda, 86, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at Carington Park in Geneva.
Born June 16, 1913, in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Hugo and Tulia Galfidi. She had lived in Ashtabula since 1973, moving from Richmond Heights.
She was employed by IRW in Euclid from 1953 until 1978.
She enjoyed crafts and her church work.
Survivors include three sisters, Mary Wulkau of Carson City, Nev., Ann Baffa of Palm Springs, Calif., and Ida Fearing of Calif.; and a brother, Joseph Galfidi of Willoughby Hills.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Anthony Burke, and Stanley Valvoda; two sisters, Philaomia Taglia and Julia Galfidi; and a brother, Peter Galfidi.
Service is 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon. Entombment will be in All Souls Mausoleum, Chardon Township.

Phyllis G. Wrisley
CONNEAUT - Phyllis G. Wrisley, 76, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at Inn Conneaut Health Center.
Born May 25, 1923, in Conneaut, she was the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Kerli) Sterling.
She was a 1941 graduate of Conneaut High School.
Mrs. Wrisley moved to Erie, Pa. after graduation.
She enjoyed recalling her years of singing with the CHS A Cappella choir under the direction of Kaarlo Mackey and taking guitar lessons. She became good at the Hawaiian guitar style and played on Ashtabula radio and at local functions.
She was employed by the Lord Manufacturing Co. in Erie, working for the war effort. She later lived in Ashtabula and Conneaut, working at the Astatic and several area factories while raising a family.
In 1988, she moved to Florida and worked in a governess capacity for a local doctor there.
She eventually met and married
her second husband, Wallace Wrisley, and moved to the Zephyrhills, Fla. area. Just recently she moved back to Conneaut because of declining health.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and craftwork. She created a two - story needlepoint dollhouse, which she donated to the Hospice Foundation in Florida as a fundraiser.
Survivors include her mother; three daughters, Karen Dudley of Conneaut, Wendy Handris of Houston, and Laura Bernatek of Pompono, Fla.; two sons, Phillip McKeown of Conneaut, and Michael McKeown of Houston; a brother, Searle Sterling of Ashtabula; 11 grandchildren; seven great - grandchildren; and her lifelong friend, Grace McNulty of Salem.
She was preceded in death by her father; her second husband Wally Wrisley; and her brother Roger Sterling.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Raisian Funeral Home, a Family Care Group Affiliate, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut, with Rev. Peg Welch of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Rhuden R. Burnheimer
MADISON - Former Madison Mayor Rhuden R. "Red" Burnheimer, 79, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at his home.
Born June 16, 1920, in Portage, Pa., he was the son of Harry and Margaret (Boring) Burnheimer.
A 50 - year Madison resident, he married
the former Pauline Burkett on April 30, 1950, in Madison.
Mr. Burnheimer was a steam engineer at Uniroyal Inc., Painesville, for 35 years. He served as Madison mayor from 1980 to 1987. He also served on Village Council from 1990 to 1997.
A Navy veteran during World War II, he served aboard the destroyer USS Kendricks. He was a member of American Legion Post 112 and VFW Post 8548, Madison.
He belonged to Old Fellows, served on board of the Madison Old Fashioned Days Committee and was a member of Masons Lakeshore Lodge 307 F&AM.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Hart of Madison and Debbie Butz of Geneva; a son, Rick of Madison; 10 grandchildren, Jeanne Hart, Pam Geib, Doug and Ann Hart, Jason and Jodi Doland and Kale, Joey, Rylen and Makenzie Burnheimer; six great - grandchildren; and a sister, Vivian Dunbar of Eastlake.
Mr. Burnheimer was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, in 1973; a sister, Thelma Wooten; and two brothers, Wade Gallagher and Harry Burnheimer.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison. The Rev. William G. Alvey, pastor of Park United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Madison.

Mary Ann Falis
ASHTABULA - City resident Mary Ann Falis died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Ashtabula County Medical Center Hospice Unit.
She was a retired seamstress and member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Survivors include a brother, Steve Falis of Ashtabula; a sister, Anna Pugliese of Ashtabula; and three generations of nieces and nephews.
Miss Falis was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul and John Falis; and a sister, Helen Falis.
Funeral is at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Ashtabula. Interment in St. Joseph cemetery will follow.

Patricia M. Passerella
ANDOVER - Services for Patricia M. Passerella, 59, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Marcy Funeral Home, a Family Care Group affiliate, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.
Mrs. Passerella died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, in Andover.
The Rev. John Summers of St. Frances Cabrini and St. Mary's churches, Conneaut, will officiate the service. Interment will be in Conneaut Glenwood cemetery.

Stella Stanish
WARREN - Stella (Olekshuk) Stanish, 77, of Truxton Street, N.E., died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Forum Trumbull Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Stanish was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Monroe Township, and had lived in Warren since 1946. She was the daughter of Michael and Mary Slobodzan Olekshuk.
A 1941 graduate of the former Pierpont High School, she was a homemaker for most of her life. She was employed by Euclid Lamp Works Inc. from 1942 to 1946 and Ohio Lamp Co. from 1946 to 1954.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and belonged to the church's KIRK Club and the Miriam/Esther Ladies Circle. A founding member and past president of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary Chapter 164 in Warren, she was named PLAV USA Woman of the Year in Ohio in 1998.
Mrs. Stanish was a member of the ladies auxiliary at Hillside Hospital, and she logged more than 350 volunteer hours at Erie, Pa., Medical Center. She also belonged to Griggs Grange No. 1467, Denmark Township.
Mrs. Stanish is survived by her husband, John, whom she married
May 18, 1946; a son, Jeffrey J. of Campbell, Calif.; a sister, Anna Kappler of Parma; two brothers, Paul Olekshuk of Monroe Center and John Olekshuk of Lakeland, Fla.; and one grandson.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church of Warren. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Park, Champion Township.

Florence E. Trumbull
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Florence Erickson Trumbull, 85, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at University Hospital in Knoxville. She was a former resident of Ashtabula and Lake counties.
Born Feb. 16, 1914, in San Francisco, she was the daughter of Victor A. and Hilda (Nelson) Erickson. She married
Glade A. Trumbull March 8, 1936, in Ashtabula.
She graduated from Ashtabula High School, and at one time was an office manager for Guy S. Peterson, M.D. She moved to Knoxville in 1997.
Mrs. Trumbull attended Concord United Methodist Church in Knoxville, and she was a member of Pine Valley United Methodist Church, Wilmington, N.C. She also was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 284 of Painesville, since 1948.
For many years, she volunteered at and managed the gift shop at Lake County Memorial Hospital, Painesville. She also was a former employee of the Sorensen Lyceum Bureau in Painesville and the Rayon Corp.
She and her husband also owned and operated Frizzell's Restaurant in Chagrin Falls.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sonja Berger and two granddaughters, Christine Crow and Kayleen Self, all of Knoxville; four great - grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Anderson of Painesville.
Mrs. Trumbull was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Hilding V. Erickson.
Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at Trumbull Center cemetery, Trumbull Township. The Rev. Charles Oplinger of Geneva First United Methodist Church will officiate.

Nicholas P. Williams
CONNEAUT - Nicholas P. Williams, 75, of Sunset Drive, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, in UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital.
The son of Joseph and Mary (Blanco) Williams, he was born Aug. 14, 1924, in Conneaut and had lived there his entire life.
He was a 1943 graduate of Conneaut High School.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the Army in Normandy, northern France and Germany. He was Ashtabula County Veterans Service officer for 30 years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church, a life member of American Legion Cowle Post 151 and the Disabled American Veterans. He also was a member of the Ashtabula VFW.
His hobbies included being with his family and watching sports.
Survivors include his wife, the former Hanna Stack, to whom he was married
for 54 years; two daughters, Debbie Pape and Cheryl Allshouse, and one son, Patrick N. Williams, all of Conneaut; three grandchildren, Stephen Williams of Conneaut, Michael Allshouse of Potomac Falls, Va., and Nicole Allshouse of Joplin, Mo.; three sisters, Sue Vendetti of Dunkirk, N.Y., Lucy Hultgren of Erie, Pa., and Katherine Ille of Conneaut; and two brothers, Paul and Chuck, both of Conneaut.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Tony, John, Rocco and Jim Williams.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Frances Cabrini Church. The Rev. Raymond Thomas will be the celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph cemetery.
A private family viewing will be today at Thompson - Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.
