Grace Croninger
SACO, Maine - Former Defiance resident Grace (Gracie) L. Croninger, 80, died at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday in Chancellor Place of Saco.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Trinity United Methodist Church, Defiance, with Dr. Roger Braun officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Visitaton is from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Chancellor Place of Saco.
James Davis
Services for James E. Davis were held Wednesday in St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Tim Kummerer and Rev. David Brandt officiating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Pallbearers were Bud Frederick, Bud Schaffer, Don Stanfield, Arnold Ruhe, Ron Peio, Bob Armstrong and Lynn Sheets. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Betty Johnson
Services for Betty J. Johnson were held Wednesday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Max Begley officiating. Burial was in Brunersburg cemetery. Pallbearers were Floyd Johnston, Chad Hershberger, Michael Knapp, Steve Dangler, David Fronce and Rodney Bechtol.
Catherine Woodward
Services for Catherine G. Woodward were held Wednesday in St. Mary Catholic church with Father Tim Kummerer officiating. Music was provided by Matt Gibson and the church choir. Pallbearers were Jim Deitrick, Dave Druhot, James and Jack Hale, Bill Finn and Bill Fischer. Burial was in Riverside cemetery. Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Raymond Keesbury
Raymond Keesbury, 84, Defiance, died at 1:10 p.m. Saturday in Brookview Healthcare Center.
He was born Oct. 27, 1917, in Defiance County's Mark Township, the son of Earl and Ruby (Fansler) Keesbury. In 1970, he married
Johanna Meier, who survives. He was a foreman at Browns Bakery for 37 years before retiring in 1977. He also worked in maintenance at the former Leisure Oaks Convalescent Center and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Defiance Eagles Aerie 372 and United Commercial Travelers.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Joanne) Roth, Indianapolis; two stepsons, Rolf Eickenberg of Palmetta, Fla., and Jon Eickenberg, Defiance; three brothers, Robert of Ney, Lee of Montpelier and George, Almond, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Ken (Phyllis Jean) Masser of Ney and Mrs. David (Carol) Rupp, Archbold; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Forrest, Richard and Tommy, in infancy; a sister, Opal Smith; and a grandson, at birth.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Dr. Roger Braun officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
Preferred memorials are to Trinity United Methodist Church.
Hilda Linebrink
Hilda May Linebrink, 86, Defiance, died Aug. 6 in Toledo Hospital.
She was born June 3, 1916, in Defiance the daughter of Charles and Maud (Rose) Sanders. In 1934, she married
Harold Linebrink, who died in 1988. She was a nurse's aide and a member of First Assembly of God.
Surviving are a son, Charles, Defiance; four daughters, Goldie Stevens of Lake Placid, Fla., Marian Bourke of Williamston Mich., Mrs. Edward (Madeline) Miller of Redford, Mich., and Frances Lowry, Okemos, Mich.; two brothers, Harold Sanders of Concord, Mich., and Rev. Charles Sanders, Standish, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Rodney (Dorthy) Appel of Defiance, Mrs. Keith (Mae) Corwin of Bryan and Mrs. James (Mary) Scheele, Napoleon; and 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Jack; a daughter, Shirley Konwinski; and six brothers, Kenneth, Dale, Jasper, James and Everett Sanders, and one in infancy.
Services were held Saturday in Uht Funeral Home, Westland, Mich., with Rev. Charles Sanders and Rev. Larry Grow officiating. Burial was in Christian Memorial Cultural Center, Rochester, Mich.
Ray Coressel
Ray Coressel, 44, Defiance, died Sunday afternoon in his home. Among the survivors is his wife, Laura. Arrangements are pending at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.
Betty Friend
HICKSVILLE - Betty J. Friend, 79, Hicksville, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday in Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Hicksville.
She was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Dekalb County, Ind., the daughter of Harry and Vera (Lower) Friend. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hicksville.
Surviving is a brother, Bill Friend, Fort Wayne.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Eloise Metz.
Services will be at noon Tuesday in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with Pastor Tom Graves officiating. Burial will be in Scipio cemetery, Allen County, Ind. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Preferred memorials are to Hickory Creek Nursing Home.
Randy Nichols
PAULDING - Randy Lee Nichols, 44, Paulding, died Saturday morning in his home.
He was born Dec. 26, 1957, in Lima, the son of Kenneth and Barbara (Decker) Nichols. He worked at Freuhauf, Delphos.
Surviving are his parents, Paulding; a daughter, Jennifer, Lima; a brother, Steve, Defiance; three sisters, Mrs. Dan (Penny) Parker of Defiance, Mrs. Jerry (Lori) Mobley of Oakwood and Mrs. Gary (Stacy) Shaver, Paulding; and a grandmother, Margaret, Delphos.
Preceding him in death was a daughter, Jessica.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood, with Rev. Doug Price officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation is from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
Lueen Short
WAUSEON - Lueen L. Fetterman Short, 74, Wauseon, died Sunday morning at Fairlawn Haven, Archbold.
She was born April 15, 1928, near Archbold, the daughter of Jacob and Edna (Wyse) Crossgrove. In 1952, she married
Allen Fetterman, who died in 1998. She was a secretary for 25 years for the former Fetterman Plumbing & Heating and a housekeeper at Exit 3 Motel. She was a member of Central Mennonite Church, near Archbold.
Surviving are a son, Rick Fetterman, Delta; two daughters, Mrs. William (Joan) Grieser of Wauseon and Jane Fetterman, Delta; two sisters, Mabel Zehr of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Alva (Doris) Schlaback, Sarasota, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, John Crossgrove, Orvil Crossgrove and Olen Crossgrove; and two sisters, Florence Crossgrove and Mary Nafziger.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Central Mennonite Church, with Pastors Jeffrey Smith and Randy Nafziger officiating. Burial will be in East Swanton cemetery, Swanton. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at Short Funeral Home, Archbold.
Robin Bandeen
BAYVIEW, Idaho - Robin S. Bandeen, 41, Bayview, idaho, died Wednesday at Kootenai Medical Center, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
She was born April 15, 1961, in Defiance, the daughter of John and Alice (Korte) Westrick. In 2000, she married
Scott Bandeen, who survives. She was a computer systems specialist for Leer Company.
Also surviving is her mother, Alice Hall, Georgia; her father, New Mexico; and four brothers, Chris Westrick of New Mexico, Dave Westrick of Nampa, Idaho; and Scott and Randy Westrick, Ohio.
Services are private.
Zona Hanenkratt
BRADENTON, Fla. - Services for former Paulding native Zona M. Hanenkratt, 92, Bradenton, Fla., were Saturday in Griffith Cline Funeral Home, Bradenton, with Pastor John Maasch officiating. She died Tuesday in Surrey Place, Bradenton, Fla.
She was born Nov. 11, 1909, in Paulding, Ohio. She was a homemaker and member of the Peace Lutheran Church, Bradenton.
Surviving are a son, Michael Haynes, Palmetto, Fla.; two daughters, Jeanie Niese of Leipsic, and Marlene Lindeman, Brandenton; a brother, Hilen Coe, Paulding; a sister, Donna Koehlinger, Antwerp; and 23 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Preferred memorials are to Peace Lutheran Church, 1611 30 Ave. West, Bradenton, Fla. 34205.
Ida Snyder
HOLGATE - Ida M. Snyder, 100, Holgate, died Friday afternoon at Lutheran Home, Napoleon.
She was born July 27, 1902, in Henry County, the daughter of George and Katherine (Franz) Fruth. In 1921, she married
Ralph Snyder, who died in 1980. She was a former employee of Pet Milk Co., Holgate, and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Holgate, and its women's guild. She was a member of Holgate American Legion Auxiliary Unit 340 and a 76-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star 68, Deshler, receiving her 75-year pin in 2001.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William (Judy) Sonnenberg, York, Pa.; two sisters, Emma Rafferty of Napoleon and Helen Shepard, Bradington, Fla.; and three granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Jeannette Hornung, two brothers, George and Harry Fruth; two sisters, Luella Hoffman and Wilhelmina Cruey; and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. John's United Church of Christ, Holgate, with Rev. Jane Hillman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. with Eastern Star services at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Holgate, and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church or a charity of the donor's choice.
Alice Holtsberry
PAULDING - Alice V. Holtsberry, 91, Paulding, died at 11:50 a.m. Friday at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born Dec. 31, 1910, in Paulding County, the daughter of John and Cecil (Raney) Miller. In 1928, she married
Russell Holtsberry, who died in 1978. She was a seamstress for Oakwood Manufacturing Co. for more than 20 years before retiring in 1992. She was a member of Grover Hill Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are five sons, Russell, Charles and Rodger, all of Paulding, John of Ayersville and Justus, Oakwood; a sister, Betty Adams, Oakwood, and 26 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were three daughters, Joann, Iona Dysinger and Delores Yoh; three brothers, Emmett, Ottis and Leroy Miller; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with Rev. Bernard Miller officiating. Burial will be in Hedges cemetery, Paulding. Visitation is from 7-9 Sunday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. until services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Dallas Lamb Foundation Home, Payne, or to Paulding County Hospital Home Health Care.
James Rohlf
WEST UNITY - James Victor Rohlf, 61, West Unity, died Friday in Dilworth Center, Montpelier.
He was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Bryan, the son of Victor and Joy (Conroy) Rohlf. He was a staff sergeant in the Illinois National Guard and owned Five Oaks Studio in Chicago. He worked in the floral industry for 30 years before retiring in 1984. He also was a master-level licensed professional clinical counselor, specializing in community counseling. He had agencies in Defiance and Napoleon since 1986. He was a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers, the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Counselors and Alcoholics Anonymous.
Surviving are a brother, Robert, Archbold; two nephews; three great-nieces, two great-nephews and one great-great niece.
Proceeding him in death were his parents.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hollingshead Funeral Home, West Unity, with Father Gary Ferguson officiating. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Community Hospitals of Williams County Hospice or Dilworth Center, Montpelier.
