Laurel Glenn
BRYAN - Former Toledo resident Laurel K. Glenn, 77, Bryan, died at 1:37 a.m. Sunday in Harborside Healthcare, Bryan.
She was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Petersburg, Mich., the daughter of Fred and Myrtle (Pearsall) Glenn. She was an office manager for Roadway Trucking Co., Toledo, for 10 years, retiring in 1981.
Surviving are a daughter, Carrie Batts, Toledo; a sister, Mrs. William (Audrey) Weippert Sr., Cecil; and two grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were five brothers, Wayne, Robert, Theodore, Ernest and Carroll Glenn; and six sisters, Ruth Timpe, Alice Krieger, Marilyn (Peggy) Connolly, Dorothy Schoenegge, Marion Turk and Catherine, in infancy.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Swan Lake Chapel at Toledo Memorial cemetery, Sylvania, followed by burial. There will be no visitation. Handling arrangements is Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.
Preferred memorials are to Williams County Hospice, Bryan.

Marvin Ford
CONTINENTAL - Marvin Ford, 33, Continental, died at 2:17 p.m. Monday in St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. Arrangements are pending at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental.

Kenneth Smith
CONTINENTAL - Kenneth Smith, 67, Continental, died at 2:02 p.m. Monday in St. Rita's Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf. Arrangements are pending at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental.

Richard Brubaker
HAMLER - Richard Brubaker, 73, Hamler, died at 10:25 a.m. Monday in Henry County Hospital, Napoleon.
He was born June 4, 1928, in Henry County, the son of Raymond and Elnora (Mack) Brubaker. In 1954, he married Doris Drewes, who survives. He worked at Hamler Ag Supply for more than 25 years, retiring in 1990, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Warren L. McIntyre American Legion Post 262 in Hamler and Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler, where he served as a trustee, elder and treasurer.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Tony (Diane) Hunt, Fort Wayne; a son, Douglas, Grand Rapids, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Bruce (Theresa) Smith of Sylvania, Mrs. John (Mary Lou) Hoke of Crestline and Mrs. Neal (Beatrice) Jettinghoff, Delphos; three brothers, Harold, George and Leo, all of Florida; and six grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church with Pastor Micah Ernst officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by Warren L. McIntyre American Legion Post 262. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday in Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Anna Michaelis
NAPOLEON - Anna L. Smith-Franz Michaelis, 70, Napoleon, died Monday in her residence.
She was born Feb. 6, 1932, in Henry County, the daughter of Loring and Bessie (Krohn) Smith. She married Edwin Franz, who preceded her in death. In 1995, she married Bernhard Michaelis, who died in 2001. She was an LPN at Maumee Valley Children's Home in Toledo and Home Health Agency/Northwest Visiting Nurse Association of Napoleon. She was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church in Napoleon and a pianist at the Lutheran Home, Mills Apartment Chapel and Country View Haven, all of Napoleon.
Surviving is a brother, Calvin Smith, Napoleon.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, with Rev. Michael Westbay officiating. Burial will be in Hoy cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Gideons International.

Marjorie Ripke
Marjorie Ann Ripke, 85, Defiance, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in her home.
She was born Dec. 24, 1916, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of John and Anna (Minck) Leonard. In 1933, she married William Ripke, who died in 1988. She was a domestic and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Defiance.
Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. James (Joann) Harris Sr. of Cecil, Mrs. Edward (Pat) Osborn, Mrs. Leo (Pam) Florence, Mrs. James (Brenda) Ankney and Mrs. Ned (Nancy) Fedderke, all of Defiance, and Mrs. Sheldon (Lenora) Levy Jr., Hicksville; three sisters, Theresa Leonard and Mrs. James (Betty) Haller, both of Defiance, and Mrs. Don (Irene) Scantlen, Ney; and 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and nine great-stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two sons, Richard and William; and a sister, Maxine Grant.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church with Rev. Keith Hunsinger officiating. Burial is in Brunersburg cemetery, Defiance County. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. today and from 9-9 p.m. Monday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, and an hour prior to services Tuesday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance.

Alvin Wiemken
Alvin Edward Wiemken, 91, Defiance, died at Napoleon Lutheran Nursing Home Saturday morning.
He was born Nov. 21, 1910, in Defiance County's Adams Township, the son of Henry and Anna (Freytag) Wiemken. In 1937, he married Martha Precht, who died in 1975. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Adams Ridge Road, where he served as secretary for 14 years, trustee, elder, Sunday School teacher and a founding member of the Luther League. He was a dairy farmer until 1972, an agent and adjuster for German Mutual Insurance for 33 years, where he also served as a vice president, president and on the board of directors. He served on North Richland Adams School board, Heller Memorial Hospital board, Napoleon, and as Ohio Milking Shorthorn Society's vice president. president and chairman. He was a board member for many county, state and national animal shows and was an official classifier of farm animals in U.S. and Canada, retiring in 1975. He was also a national official judge for many state fairs and helped organize the Adams Township zoning board, served on Farmers Mutual Telephone board of directors and showed cattle at many county, state and national shows, winning many honors and championships. He was a clerk for the Ohio State Fair for eight years, served on Okolona Grain Co. and Hudson Mills boards and received Defiance Kiwanis Club's Outstanding Farmer award in 1954.
Surviving are four sons, Wayne of Sarasota, Fla., Merlyn and Jerry, both of Defiance, and Stanley, Napoleon; a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Wanda Lou) Norden, Malinta; a brother, George, Napoleon; two sisters, Luella Meyer of Ridgeville Corners and Anna Gerken, Napoleon; and 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, John and Anton; a sister, Mathilda Damman; and a granddaughter.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the church with Rev. Thomas Frey officiating. Burial is in the church's cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Monday in Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, and an hour prior to services Tuesday in the church.
Memorials are to the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Norman Howe
ANTWERP - Norman Howe, 84, Antwerp, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday in Paulding County Hospital.
He was born Feb. 19, 1918, in Waynesboro, Tenn., the son of Ed and Roxie (Rose) Howe. In 1940, he married Christine Slaughter, who died. He was a machine operator for 30 years at Dana Weatherhead and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 5087 and First Baptist Church, Antwerp.
Surviving are a daughter, Sue Dodane, Antwerp; two sons, Harold of Defiance and Chuck, Bippus, Ind.; a sister, Esther Seals, Defiance; a brother, Ed, Hicksville; and nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a brother and five sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the church with Rev. Jim Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Maumee cemetery, Antwerp, with graveside military honors accorded by Antwerp VFW Post 5087. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. today in Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, and for an hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Paulding Area Visiting Nurses and Hospice.

Dessie Moore
CONTINENTAL - Dessie A. Moore, 69, died Saturday in her home. Surviving is a son, Norman, Continental. Mast-Mock-Hoffman is handling arrangements.

Richard Smith
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Richard K. Smith, 56, Fort Wayne, died at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, in Hospice of Northeast Indiana.
He was born March 20, 1946, in Auburn, Ind., the son of Kenneth and Ruth (Walter) Smith. In 1971, he married Wanda Balser, who survives. He worked at Mid-West Chemical Co., Fort Wayne, for 20 years until he retired and was a member of North Highland Church of Christ, Fort Wayne.
Also surviving are his mother, Butler; a daughter, Amanda Smith, Indianapolis; and two brothers, Keith, Butler, and Walter, Lincoln, Ill.
Services are at 10 a.m. (Ohio time) Tuesday in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with Pastor Thomas O'Brien officiating. Burial is in Newville cemetery, DeKalb County. Visitation begins at 3 p.m. in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville.
Preferred memorials are to the African Christian Mission International, Turnstone Center for the Disabled Children and Adults or Visiting Nurse Service of Northeast Indiana.

Harold Ringer
HICKSVILLE - Harold E. Ringer, 88, Hicksville, died at 8:45 p.m. Friday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he was a patient for five days.
He was born April 21, 1913, in Defiance County's Farmer Township, the son of William and Edith (Kittredge) Ringer. In 1939, he married Mildred Peoples, who survives. He was a 1936 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a bachelor's degree and a 1939 graduate of Ohio State University with a master's degree. He taught social science and coached in Pioneer School for five years and then served as executive head of the school for seven years. In 1948, he moved to Hicksville where he served as high school principal for 24 years, retiring in 1972, after working for 36 years in the field of education. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hicksville, where he served as an elder, treasurer of men's fellowship and taught Sunday School. He was a member of the Ohio Education Association, NEA. Phi Delta Kappa Honor Fraternity for Educators, Retired Teachers Association of Defiance County, ORTA AARP, Masonic Lodge, Lions Club and Rotary Club, where he was 1989 Citizen of the Year. He was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, member of Hicksville Development Corp., volunteered for the American Red Cross for 35 years, serving as blood program chairman for 15 years, president of the Hicksville chapter and Fort Wayne regional blood center Defiance County representative for five years.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John (Joyce) Birkhold of Antwerp and Mrs. Norman (Judy) Roehrs, Findlay; and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Thelma Redder.
Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the church with Pastor John Naugle officiating. Burial will be in Farmer cemetery. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Rotary scholarship fund.
John Mires
LIBERTY CENTER - John Kingsley (King) Mires, 83, Liberty Center, died Friday night at Harborside Health Care, Swanton.
He was born May 2, 1918, in Liberty Center, the son of John and Emma (Crozier) Mires. In 1942, he married Rita Miller, who survives. He was a graduate of Ohio State University, was a Golden Gloves champion, received a master's degree from Bowling Green State University, succeeded his father as editor and publisher of Liberty Press in 1940, worked for the Toledo Times and Toledo Blade and was editor of Toledo Record. He taught journalism and economics at BGSU, owned and operated Paryski's Publishing Co., Toledo, until 1969, did freelance publishing, served in the Army Air Corp as a lieutenant during World War II as a B-24 bomber pilot and operations officer for the 22nd Bomber Group with the 5th Air Force and flew more than 80 missions in the Pacific.
He was a member of Liberty Center United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School, was charter member and past president of Liberty Center Rotary Club, past president of Liberty Center Library board, charter member of Liberty Center Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6596 and Henry County Sportsman Club and member of Gilbert-Baughman Liberty Center American Legion Post 492. He was in "Men of Liberty" barbershop chorus, performed in community musicals and was a contributing editor for Irish Setters Association of Ohio.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gus (Karen) Inks, Swanton; a son, Craig, Lima: a sister, Louisa Strock, Liberty Center; and two grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a brother, David.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, with Pastor David MacDonald officiating. Burial is in Youngs cemetery, Liberty Center, with military rites accorded by members of the American Legion and VFW posts. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. today and from 2-9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Liberty Center Public Library.

Harmony Haas
NAPOLEON - Harmony Faith Haas, 4 months, died at 4:18 a.m. Saturday in Henry County Hospital.
She was born Dec. 8, 2001, in Napoleon, the daughter of Reuben Baldonado and Christina Haas, Napoleon.
Surviving are her parents; a sister, Hope Honaker, at home; grandparents, Steve and Anni Haas of Greensburg, Ind., Priscilla Porter of Napoleon and Ramon and Paula Baldonado, Portage; and great-grandparents, Gordon and Sherry Haas of Napoleon and Betty Porter, McClure.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rodenberger Funeral Home, McClure, with Pastor Richard Weaver officiating. Burial is in Hockman cemetery, McClure. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and an hour prior to services Tuesday.
Preferred memorials are to Harmony Faith Haas Memorial Fund in care of Sky Bank, McClure.
