V. Jane Peterson
STEUBENVILLE - Services for V. Jane Peterson were held Friday in Union cemetery, Steubenville, with Rev. Douglas Shoaff officiating. She was the daughter of Charles and Eva (Roehrig) McFeeters. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Carrie Boes and Mildred Eis; and a brother, Floyd McFeeters.

Esther Batt
Services for Esther Batt were held Saturday in Marysdale Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father William Martin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Music was by Thelma Brenner, Thom Singer and the church choir. Pallbearers were Tony Singer, Warren Spencer, Steve Batt, Louis Shininger, Gale Hesselschwardt and Ed Sheets Jr. Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Berman Gattshall
GROVER HILL - Berman Gattshall, 88, Grover Hill, died today in Paradise Oaks Quality Care Center, Cloverdale. Arrangements are pending at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.

Henry Schuette
HOLGATE - Henry W. Schuette, 83, Holgate, died Sunday morning in his home.
He was born April 8, 1918, in Henry County's Napoleon Township, the son of Herman and Freda (Panning) Schuette. In 1945, he married Evelyn Rickenberg, who survives. He was the owner/operator of Schuette Clothing Store in Holgate from 1960-86 and a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Holgate, where he formerly served on the church counsel, as Sunday school superintendent, teacher and delegate to American Lutheran Church National Convention. He was a former member of Holgate Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce, an organizer of Holgate's Community Harvest Festival, a decorated U.S. Army veteran serving with the 32nd Division during World War II and a life member of New Bavaria VFW Post 8847 and Holgate American Legion Post 340.
Also surviving are three sons, Dennis of Charlotte, N.C., and David and John, both of Holgate; two brothers, Paul and Lawrence, both of Napoleon; two sisters, Edna Coe of Fort Wayne and Laura Meyer, Punta Gorda, Fla.; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Fred and Edwin, in infancy.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the church with Pastor Dana Bjorlin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by New Bavaria VFW Post 8847 and Holgate American Legion Post 340. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate.
Preferred memorials are to the church building fund, Wernle Home for Boys or a charity of the donor's choice.

Gustav Conrad
NAPOLE0N - Gustav E. Conrad, 73, Napoleon, died Sunday in his residence.
He was born March 15, 1928, in McKeesport, Pa., the son of Gustav and Louise (Ruoff) Conrad. In 1951, he married Kathleen Vorwerk, who survives. The U.S. Army veteran was a manager at Home Oil Co. in Napoleon and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon.
Also surviving are a son, Kenneth, Hamler; three daughters, Mrs. Kevin (Karen) Yackee of Clear Lake, Ind., Mrs. Jeptha (Kristine) Hall of Nappanee, Ind., and Mrs. Jeff (Karla) Hill, Columbus; two brothers, Herman of Westbrook, Minn., and Fred, McKeesport; a sister, Dorothy Hedstrom, McKeesport; and 18 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with Pastors Norman Koy and Peter Marcis officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance.
Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, and one hour prior to services Wednesday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church's memorial fund or Fellowship Club, Hospice of Henry County or Lutheran Hour Ministries.

Albert Rife
PAULDING - Albert E. Rife, 77, Paulding, died Sunday afternoon in his home. Among survivors is his wife, Genevieve. Arrangements are pending at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.

Ronald Ruihley
WEST UNITY - Ronald Lee Ruihley, 50, West Unity, died Sunday morning in Community Hospitals of Williams County-Bryan.
He was born May 26, 1951, in Wauseon, the son of Aaron Jr. and Donna (Hinshaw) Ruihley. In 1969, he married Sharon Newcomb, who survives. He was a truck driver for D&L Trucking Co., West Unity, for 23 years and a member of West Unity United Methodist Church, Sons of West Unity American Legion Post 669, Montpelier's Moose Lodge 312 and Bryan's Eagles Aerie 2233.
Also surviving are his father, West Unity; two daughters, Mrs. Todd (Angela) Roth of West Unity and Leslie, Toledo; two brothers, Gerald and Robert, both of Bryan; and four granddaughters.
Preceding him in death were his mother; and a sister, Kay, in infancy.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the church with Rev. Ruth Ann Scoby officiating. Burial will be in Floral Grove cemetery, West Unity, with services by Sons of the American Legion Post 669. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday in Hollingshead Funeral Home, West Unity.
Preferred memorials are to the family in support of memorial civic projects.

Carl Wendell
Carl (Huey) D. Wendell, 84, Defiance, died at 2:15 a.m. Friday in Defiance Hospital.
He was born Nov. 1, 1917, in Greene County, Pa., the son of Edwin and Elsie (Gribbin) Wendell. He worked in maintenance at ANR Pipeline for 25 years, retiring in 1977, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 372 and AMVETS Post 1991 and a life member of VFW Post 3360.
Surviving are two daughters, Mavis Kime of Defiance and Pennie Howe, Napoleon; two sons, Marty and William, both of Defiance; a sister, Elsie Haach, Milan, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Preceding him in death were a brother, Boyd; and four sisters, Wuanita Moore, Evelyn DeFazio, Eleanor Reed and Della Wendell.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Robert McNamara officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens with military rites accorded by VFW Post 3360. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Sunday.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance.

Doris Reynolds
CRIDERSVILLE - Former Dupont resident Doris L. Reynolds, 90, Cridersville, died at 11:57 a.m. Wednesday in Otterbein, Cridersville.
She was born March 24, 1911, in Dupont, the daughter of Randolph and Josephine (Leatherman) Marriott. In 1933, she married Glen Reynolds, who died in 1967. She was a cook at Continental Local Schools retiring after 20 years and a former member of Hartsburg United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Gary of Denver and David, Glenview, Ill.; a brother, Paul Marriott, Ottawa; four sisters, Emma Halbgewoks of Bradenton, Fla., Zelma Schmidt and Velma Shalter, both of Continental, and Faye Doseck, Lima; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a sister, Flossie Parrett; and a brother, Lewis (Mike) Marriott.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental, with Rev. Raymond Matson officiating. Burial will be in Monroe cemetery, Continental. Visitation is after 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to Otterbein, Cridersville.

Dale Leininger
LIBERTY CENTER - Dale E. Leininger, 64, Liberty Center, died Wednesday evening in his residence.
He was born Feb. 27, 1938, in Swanton, the son of Earl and Ethel (Davis) Leininger. In 1958, he married Judith Travis, who survives. He was a mechanic for Spiess Implement in Liberty Center and owner/operator of Leininger Builders, Liberty Center, for 27 years. He was also owner/operator of Those Bloomin' Things with his wife from 1979-1991 and president and chief executive officer of Eon Industries. The Liberty Center Volunteer Fire Department captain was a past president of Liberty Center EMS and member of American Trauma Society at Medical College of Ohio, Liberty Center Athletic Boosters and Liberty Center Historical Society. He was active in 4-H and garden associations and helped with various boys and girls sporting activities.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. David (Diane) Wolf of Glouster, Mrs. John (Dawn) Bender of Napoleon and Mrs. Patrick (D'Anna) Gyuras, Tiffin; two sons, Daniel of Kingman, Ariz., and Douglas, Liberty Center; two sisters, Dorothy Bell and Mrs. Ron (Judy) Studer, both of Swanton; a brother, Darrell, Swanton; and 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Debbie; and three brothers, Nelson, Charles and Marion.
Services will be private. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice of Henry County or a charity of the donor's choice.

William Cummins III
NAPOLEON - Former Hicksville resident William Henry Cummins III, 42, Napoleon, died Thursday in Filling Memorial Home of Mercy, Napoleon.
He was born Nov. 16, 1959, in Hicksville, the son of William and Vera (Camp) Cummins. He attended Quadco, Adult Enrichment Center and Good Samaritan School. He was a member of Hicksville First Church of Christ and active in Special Olympics and a special patterning program.
Surviving are his parents, Hicksville; a brother, Russell, Hicksville; and two sisters, Mrs. Larry (Charmagne) Kennerk of Fort Wayne and Tabitha, Hicksville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the church with Revs. Ken Wellman and Denise Brown officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home cemetery, Hicksville. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. today in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, and one hour prior to services Saturday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to Filling Memorial Home of Mercy, its bird aviary or Christian Children's Home.

Audrey Niebel
NAPOLEON - Audrey K. Niebel, 92, Napoleon, died Thursday morning in Henry County Hospital, Napoleon.
She was born June 17, 1909, in Paulding County, the daughter of Elmer and Ola (Ackerman) Connin. In 1929, she married Paul Niebel, who died in 1992. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Napoleon, its Women's Society, Harrison Township Women's Club and Harrison Garden Club and former coordinator of Henry County Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Junior (Elaine) Harmon, Napoleon; three sisters, Mrs. Archie (Jane) Wilson of Homosassa, Fla., Mrs. Elmer (Iona) Cowan of Glendale, Ariz., and Mrs. Robert (Darlene) Fritz, Mesa, Ariz.; and six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, seven great-stepgrandchildren and five great-great-stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Bill; a daughter, Betty Jane McCormack; and four brothers, James, Carson, Elmer and Edward Connin.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, with Rev. Mary Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Hoy cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to Country View Haven Home Society, the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Elsie Schlatter
PAULDING - Elsie Pauline Schlatter, 86, Paulding, died at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday in Van Crest Health Care Center, Van Wert.
She was born Oct. 15, 1915, in Princeville, Ill., the daughter of Gustav and Maria (Miller) Rager. In 1940, she married Joseph Schlatter, who died in 2001. She was a homemaker and member of Latty Apostolic Christian Church.
Surviving are four sons, Otto of Ada, Mich., Gus of Paulding and Eli and Joseph, both of Van Wert; a daughter, Carolyn Heyerly, Missoula, Mont.; a brother, Carl Rager, Payne; three sisters, Freida Rehklau of Toledo, Lillian Schlatter of Latty and Marie Steffen, Decatur, Ind.; and 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Eli, Roy and William Rager and Albert, in infancy; and three sisters, Anna Rager and Rose and Caroline Zeltwanger.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the church with the clergy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Saturday and 9-11 a.m. Sunday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and one hour prior to services Sunday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Alzheimer's Association or Gateway Woods Center, Leo, Ind.
