Ronald Elston Sr.
ERIE, Pa. - Paulding County native Ronald L. Elston Sr., 48, Erie, died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday in his home.
He was born July 5, 1953, in Paulding County, the son of Edward and Mildred (Slane) Elston. He was a former Paulding police officer and attended Payne Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are his parents, Payne; a daughter, Mrs. Blair (Sandra) Roy, Frankfurt, Germany; a son, Ronald Jr., West Unity; three brothers, Richard of Kalida, and John and Edward, both of Payne; and three grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a son, Joseph, in infancy; and grandparents.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with Rev. Mike Harper officiating. Burial will be in Middle Creek cemetery, Grover Hill. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.
Bessie Steensen
TOLEDO - Former Wauseon resident B. (Bessie) Ruth Shadle Steensen, 87, Toledo, died early Monday in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
She was born Nov. 28, 1914, in Fulton County, the daughter of Ernest and Allie (Campbell) Shadle. She married
Marion Steensen, who preceded her in death in 1988. She was a bookkeeper for Multi-Cast Corp., Wauseon, for 21 years before retiring and a member of Garden Park Church of Christ in Toledo and Order of the Eastern Star's Fulton County Chapter 67, where she was past worthy matron.
Surviving are a son, Bradford, Rochester, Mich.; two daughters, Lynn Meadows of Chelsea, Mich., and Karyn Deyarmond, Toledo; and 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Gayle Kiddoo.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. April 13 in Garden Park Church of Christ, Toledo, with Rev. Barry Merritt officiating. An additional memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. April 13 in First Christian Church, Wauseon, with Rev. R. Keith Oditt officiating. There will be no visitation. Handling arrangements is Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon.
Preferred memorials are to either church or St. Vincent's Palliative Care, Toledo.
Nannie Ridenour
ITHACA, N.Y. - Former Hicksville resident Nannie Lee Ridenour, 92, Ithaca, died Monday at Kendal of Ithaca Life-Care Retirement Community.
She was born Feb. 28, 1910, in Hopkinsville, Ky., the daughter of Elvin and Roxy Rush. In 1933, she married
Layel Ridenour, who survives. She graduated from Bowling Green State University and taught school until retiring in 1973. She was a member of Hicksville's St. John Lutheran Church and its choir and was recognized by Rotary in 1989 as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Also surviving are a son, George, Ithaca; a daughter, Mary Dietz, Richmond, Va.; a sister, Anna Volkert, Hicksville; and four granddaughters.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the church with Pastor Judith Wascher officiating. Burial will be in Lost Creek cemetery, Hicksville. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Thursday in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, and one hour prior to services Friday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Huber Theater's restoration project.
Ivan Weber
ARCHBOLD - Ivan J. Weber, 88, Archbold, died Sunday in Ormond Beach Hospital, Ormond Beach, Fla.
He was born Jan. 1, 1914, in Archbold, the son of Clarence and Cathern (Grime) Weber. In 1939, he married
Velma Roth, who died in 1959. In 1962, he married
Audrey (Mercer) Miller, who died in 1980. He was a farmer, a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Archbold and Knights of Columbus Council 7552 and a former member of Eagles Aerie 2233, Bryan.
Surviving are a son, Ronald, Defiance; four daughters, Mrs. James (Shirley) Lindau of Manitou Beach, Mich., Sharon von Essen of Goreville, Ill., Mrs. Ronald (Dianne) Ball of Adrian, Mich., and Mrs. Wayne (Deborah) Shinabery, Archbold; a stepson, Jack Miller, Belmont, N.C.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Barbara) Chase of Zanesville, Mrs. Ted (Pat) Maneval of West Unity and Mrs. Lee (Sue) Shirkey, Springfield, Mo.; a special friend, Ruth Sedan; and 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a son, Larry; a sister, Evelyn; and a grandson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the church with Rev. Gary Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Floral Grove cemetery, West Unity. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Thursday in Short Funeral Home, Archbold, with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m.
B. Ruth Golliver
GROVER HILL - B. Ruth Golliver, 79, Grover Hill, died at 2:56 p.m. Saturday in Northcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Napoleon.
She was born May 6, 1922, in Van Wert County's Hoaglin Township, the daughter of Ferdinand and Vera (Lake) Adams. In 1939, she married
Alonzo Golliver, who died in 1983. She was a former employee of U.S. Rubber Factory in Fort Wayne and McClure Meat Market, Grover Hill, and a member of Mandale Church of Christ in Christian Union.
Surviving are a son, Gary, Grover Hill; three daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Nancy) Minnich of Lebanon, Tenn., Mrs. Tom (Ruth) Andrew of Florida and Mrs. Banner (Diana) Meade, Napoleon; two sisters, Vera Akom of Scott and Alta Hockenberry, Angola, Ind.; a brother, Jim Adams, Van Wert; and 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Larry; a daughter, Vicki; two sisters, Mabel DeLong and Leora Hoagland; and two grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the church with Rev. Don Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Creek cemetery, Grover Hill. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. today and 8-11 a.m. Wednesday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Nelson Rettig
NAPOLEON - Nelson C. Rettig, 74, Napoleon, died Sunday evening at Henry County Hospital, Napoleon.
He was born May 10, 1927, in Henry County, the son of Archie and Esther (Eberle) Rettig. He married
Hilda Smith, who died in 1992. He was a mechanic at Home Oil and Woods Auto Supply, both in Napoleon, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Seabees as a shipfitter third class. He was a member of Bert G. Taylor American Legion Post 300 and Luther Kolbe VFW Post 8218.
Surviving are a son, Randy, Plymouth, N.H.; a daughter, Robin, Napoleon; and a brother, Kenneth, Ida, Mich.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Bernard and Wilford.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Forest Hill cemetery, Napoleon, with Rev. Jane Hillman officiating. Military rites will be conducted by joint veterans posts of Napoleon. Handling arrangements is Snyder Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon.

Genevieve Sterling
NEW BERN, N.C. - Former Defiance resident Genevieve Schmitt Sterling, 69, Defiance, died at 11 p.m. Sunday in her home.
She was born Jan. 28, 1933, In Defiance County, the daughter of Guy and Helen Schmitt. She married
William Sterling, who survives. She was a homemaker, a volunteer at Tryon Palace Gardens, New Bern, and a member of DAR and St. Michael Archangel Church, Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station, Havelock, N.C.
Also surviving are three daughters, Michelle of Linn, Mo., Patricia Pannell of Somerville, Ala., and Christan Graham, Menifee, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant daughter, Jeanne; and a half sister, Betty Lantow Varner.
Services will be private. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the family home. Handling arrangements is Cotten Funeral Home, New Bern.
Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society, Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
Lee Wilder
SEBRING, Fla. - Word has been received of the March 2 death of former Defiance resident Lee Wilder, 81, Sebring, in Highlands Memorial Hospital, Sebring.
He was born Nov. 5, 1920, in Paulding County, the son of Sylvanus and Sarah (Seals) Wilder. He married
Leone Corwin, who died in 1976. He then married
Ruth Gudates, who died in 1988. He was a retired machinist from GM Powertrain in Defiance, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of UAW local 211 and VFW Post 4300 and American Legion Post 74, both of Sebring.
Surviving are a son, Jerry, Defiance; four daughters, Frances Eckelberry of Jerusalem, Lonnie Bauer of Houston, Patricia Galvin of Swanton and Sheila Wilder-Ward, Defiance; three sisters, Katie Guingrich of Celina, Celia Speelman of Convoy and Betty Odle, Theodore, Ala.; and 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were six brothers and three sisters.
Services were held March 6 in Morris Funeral Chapel, Sebring, with Rev. Darrell Peer officiating. Burial was in Lakeview Memorial Garden, Avon Park.

Paul Winterhalter
PERRYSBURG - Paul (Mike) Winterhalter, 91, Perrysburg, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
Services will be at 10:15 a.m. Thursday in St. Rose Catholic Church, Perrysburg. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg.
Jason Myers
Services for Jason W. Myers were held Monday in Antwerp United Methodist Church with Revs. Jim Fry and Paul Myers officiating. Music was provided by Tom Major and Michael Long. Pallbearers were Ross Commisso, Matt Smalley, Kyle Zartman, Ben and Kent Nighswander, Dustin Carnahan, Paul Cottrell and Benji Grant. Honorary pallbearers were Matt Rhoades, Tony Hunt and Kenny Fisher. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Dorothy Meyer
Former Holgate resident Dorothy M. Meyer, 98, Defiance, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday in Defiance Hospital.
She was born Nov. 13, 1903, in Hamler, the daughter of Frederick and Amelia (Haase) Badenhop. In 1926, she married
Paul Meyer, who died in 1962. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Holgate, where she served on its' Ladies Aid and was a member of the quilting group.
Surviving are a son, Paul, Saginaw, Mich.; four daughters, Mrs. Jim (Donna) Swary and Mrs. Walter (Betty) Schroeder, both of Defiance, and Judith Meyer and Judy Lockwood, both of Dayton; and six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Fred, Henry, Theodore and Arnold Badenhop; and a sister, Henrietta Drewes.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with Rev. Theodore Rellstab officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. today at Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Anna Wyse
ARCHBOLD - Anna M. Wyse, 97, Archbold, died Saturday afternoon at Fairlawn Haven. She was the widow of Jesse Wyse. Arrangements are pending at Short Funeral Home.
