John Boyd Jr.
John L. Boyd Jr., 52, Defiance, died at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday in Defiance Hospital.
He was born April 2, 1949, in Defiance, the son of John Sr. and Alice (Voss) Boyd. In 1999, he married
Pamela Cunningham, who survives. He was a machine operator at Johns Manville since 1996 and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and GMP Local 51.
Also surviving are four sons, Andrew of Defiance, Larry and Robert of Toledo and John Puckett, Chillicothe; two daughters, Aundrea of Columbia, S.C., and Neva Pettit, Rockport, Ind.; a stepson, Dennis Frederick, Defiance; three stepdaughters, Gaylee Harris of Saudi Arabia and Adrena Shoffner and Katrina Mills of Columbus; a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Judy) Hensley, Defiance; his mother, Defiance; and a grandchild and two stepgrandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his father and grandparents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Friday.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance.
Robert Cheney
NAPOLEON - Robert N. Cheney, 65, Napoleon, died Tuesday evening in Toledo Hospital.
He was born Feb. 6, 1937, in Toledo, the son of Fred and Mae (Naugle) Cheney. He married
Nora Junge, who survives. He worked at Campbell Soup Supply Co., Napoleon, retiring in 1997, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon, was a member of American Legion Post 300 and Elks Lodge 929 and a Napoleon Men's Club secretary.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeff of Toledo and Rodney, Archbold; a daughter, Tammy, Napoleon; two stepdaughters, Deb Brown of McClure and Sue Guth, Tecumseh, Mich.; a sister, Sharon Walter, Lexington, N.C.; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a stepson, Dennis Heiman; a brother, George Smith; and a sister, Ethel Smith.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, with Rev. Peter Marcis officiating. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Saturday until services.
Preferred memorials are to American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
Marie Rehor
Marie A. Rehor, 103, Defiance, died at 6 a.m. Monday in Kingsbury House.
She was born Jan. 21, 1899, in Cleveland, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Stacy) Rericha. In 1940, she married
Ralph Rehor, who died in 1956. She was a secretary at American Screw Products and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a son, Richard Pastor.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. April 10 in Arlington National cemetery, Arlington County, Va., with Rev. James Lucas officiating. There is no visitation. Handling arrangements is Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.
C.G. Hendricks
C.G. (Pete) Hendricks, 90, Defiance, died Sunday in Florida. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. John's Catholic Church. There is no visitation. Handling arrangements is Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home.

Noah Tompkins
DESHLER - Noah William Tompkins, 22 months, Deshler, died Tuesday morning in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born May 29, 2000, in Defiance, the son of William and Billie Jo (Whitaker) Tompkins.
Surviving are his parents, Deshler; two sisters, Ashley and Taylor, at home; and grandparents, William Whitaker and Sarah Goller of Ney, Keith and Sharon Westendorf of Deshler, Phillip and Angel Miller of Defiance and Delores Tompkins, Bryan.
Preceding him in death was a grandfather, Donald Tompkins.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, Defiance, with Rev. Melvin Peter officiating. Burial will be in Evansport cemetery. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
Christina Contrez
HICKSVILLE - Christina A. Contrez, 71, Hicksville, died Monday in her home.
She was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Hartford City, Ind., the daughter of Florencio and Carmen (Morales) Ortiz. She worked at Hicksville's Community Memorial Hospital and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hicksville.
Surviving are a daughter, Rebeca Perez, Hicksville; three sons, George, Albino Jr. and Manuel Martinez, all of Hicksville; nine sisters, Mary Razo of Decatur, Ind., Gloria Jasso of Antwerp, Arebella Sanchez of Victoria, Texas, Dorothy Chew of St. Joe, Ind., Margaret Nieto of Rockdale, Texas, Hope Castillo and Carmen Garcia, both of Hicksville, Juanita Gonzales of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Josephine Navarro, Delta; two brothers, Paul Ortiz of Decatur and Johnny Ortiz, Butler, Ind.; and 12 grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a brother and a sister.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Edgerton, with Father Thomas Oedy officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home cemetery, Hicksville. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with a Hicksville Eagles Aerie 2556 Auxiliary service at 6:30 p.m., followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m.

NAPOLEON - Robert N. Cheney, 65, Napoleon, died Tuesday afternoon in Toledo Hospital. Arrangements are pending at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon.
Alwyn Miller
WAUSEON - Alwyn J. Miller, 83, Wauseon, died Monday in Fairlawn Haven, Archbold.
He was born March 30, 1918, in Henry County's Ridgeville Township, the son of Jacob and Cora (Sieler) Miller. In 1941, he married
Doris Spengler, who survives. Prior to his retirement, he was a self-employed milk hauler for Sterling Milk Co. He began hauling cans in 1948 and milk in 1955 and had been a member of Crossroads Evangelical Church, Wauseon.
Also surviving are a son, James, Wauseon; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a son, Marlin; four brothers, Bing, Wally, Victor and Orris; and four sisters, Katherine and BeEtta and two in infancy.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church with Pastor Wes Hoffmire officiating. Private burial will be in Wauseon Union cemetery. Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. today in Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon.

Thelma Martin
PHOENIX - Word has been received of the Feb. 18 death of Defiance native Thelma M. Martin in Phoenix.
She was born Feb. 22, 1912, in Defiance. She was the wife of the late Sigmund Martin.
Surviving are a son, Robert, Cincinnati; a daughter, Shirley Sprink, Phoenix; and two sisters, Dorothy Ehlinger and Beatrice Gordon, both of Defiance.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice of Arizona, 2222 W. Northern Ave., Phoenix, Ariz. 85021.
Bruce Noneman
SHERWOOD - Bruce Robert Noneman, 16, Sherwood, died Friday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident in Defiance County.
He was born April 28, 1985, in Henry County, the son of Robert and Penny (Dix) Noneman. He was a student at Four County Career Center, Archbold, and worked at Burger King, Defiance.
Surviving are his parents, Sherwood; a brother, Gregory, at home; and grandparents, Peggy Dix of Paulding and Carol Zender, Celina.
Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday in Rice Funeral Home, Sherwood.
Preferred memorials are to the Gregory Noneman trust fund, in care of Rice Funeral Home, Sherwood.
Gloria Zachrich
STUART, Fla. - Former Defiance resident Gloria (Lolly) J. Zachrich, 76, Stuart, died at 5:55 a.m. Saturday in her home.
She was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Chicago, the daughter of Clare and Sadie (Nalon) Betten. She married
James Zachrich Sr., who survives. She attended St. Mary's Academy in Prairie du Chien, Wis., and Mt. Mary College, Milwaukee. She was a homemaker and a member of Defiance Hospital Auxiliary, Wyant Art Club, Sorosis, Grey Ladies, St. John Lutheran Church, Lutheran Chapel of Clear Lake, Ind., Kettenring Country Club and Miles Grant Country Club, Florida
Also surviving are three sons, James Jr. of Greenwood, S.C., Jon of Bryan and Martin, Clear Lake; a daughter, Julie Munson, Indianapolis; a sister, Judith Bethel, Lake Geneva, Wis.; and 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald Luhring officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Bethel Chapel of Hobe Sound, St. John Lutheran Church, Hospice of Treasure Coast or American Cancer Society.
Dolores Hayes
HAMLER - Dolores M. Hayes, 86, Hamler, died at 9 p.m. Thursday in Toledo Hospital.
She was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Wood County, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Hentges) Schwab. In 1948, she married
John Hayes, who died in 1993. She was a homemaker, a member of Disciples of Christ of St. Paul Catholic Church, Hamler, and a former member of Wide Awake Club, Hamler.
Surviving are a son, Jerry, Defiance; a daughter, Mrs. Randy (Kathleen) Punches, Hamler; two brothers, Howard Schwab of Deshler and William Schwab, Engadine, Mich.; a sister, Mary Jane Wilhelm, Leipsic; and a grandchild, three stepgrandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Helen Maas and Annabelle Schwab; and a brother, James Schwab, in infancy.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the church with Father Steven Stanbery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. today in Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, with a scripture service at 8:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the church building fund, Defiance College Scholarship Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
