John Keck
BRYAN - John (J.C.) Clyde Keck, 62, Bryan, died Sunday in his home.
He was born June 10, 1939, in LaGrange, Ind., the son of Lloyd and Marthalee (Rush) Keck. In 1960, he married Beverly Killian, who survives. He was a farmer and retired from Bryan's Challenge Industries in 1999 after 35 years. He was a member of Lick Creek Church of the Brethren in Bryan, National Rifle Association, Northwest Ohio Toy Club and Ohio Farm Bureau, and volunteered with the Boy Scouts and Williams County 4-H.
Also surviving are his father, Ligonier, Ind.; a son, Bill, Bryan; two brothers, Lee of Loganton, Pa., and Edward, Bryan; two sisters, Mrs. Keith (Mary) Schemahorn of Sturgis, Mich., and Mrs. David (Linda) Jones, Syracuse, Ind.; and two grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his mother; a son, Robert; and a daughter, Barbara.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the church with Pastor David Miller officiating. Burial will be in Brown cemetery, Bryan. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home, Bryan.
Preferred memorials are to the church or American Heart Association.

Hazel Wing
CONTINENTAL - Hazel Wing, 92, Continental, died at 6 p.m. Sunday in Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental. Further arrangements are pending.

Pearle Slee-Spiess
LIBERTY CENTER - Pearle M. Slee-Spiess, 87, Liberty Center, died Saturday in Napoleon's Lutheran Home.
He was born Aug. 30, 1914, in Hoytville, the son of Demas and Rena (Otto) Ferguson. In 1935, she married Homer Slee, who died in 1966. In 1968, she married Wilbur (Mike) Spiess, who died in 1978. She was a cook for 25 years with Liberty Center Local Schools and a member of Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church and Union Rebekah Lodge 273, serving as a past noble grand. She was a member of Pythian Sisters and Patriarchs Militant, earning the degree of chivalry.
Surviving are a son, Danny, Las Vegas; a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Linda) Helmke, Napoleon; a stepson, Larry Spiess, Napoleon; a stepdaughter, Joan Rivera, Toledo; and four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and three great-stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, David Slee; five sisters, Fraulene Ferguson, Dorothy Kern, Georgia Ohlinger, Ruth Creps and Ruby Bechstein; and two brothers, Warren and Robert Ferguson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, with Pastor Jim Condrey officiating. Burial will be in Young's cemetery, Liberty Center. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. today.
Preferred memorials are to the Lutheran Home.

Darrell Grimm
PIONEER - Darrell E. Grimm, 72, Pioneer, died at 8:54 a.m. Sunday in his home.
He was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Williams County's Madison Township, the son of Martin and Blanche (Connolly) Grimm. In 1957, he married Jessie Clements, who survives. He was a retired farmer and worked at Powers and Sons for 29 years as a broach operator, retiring in 1993. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and attended Lake View United Brethren Church, Merry Lake, Mich.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. David (Elizabeth) Maurer of Bryan and Mrs. Dale (Susan) Ruder, Osseo, Mich.; a son, David, Camden, Mich.; two brothers, Keith of Sherwood and Robert, Alvordton; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the church with Pastor Hubert Schmucker officiating. Burial will be in Floral Grove, Pioneer, with military rites conducted by Pioneer veteran organizations. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home, Pioneer.
Preferred memorials are to the Gospel Barn.

Emma Schoor
Emma K. Schoor, 80, Defiance, died at 8:35 a.m. Thursday in Defiance Hospital.
She was born June 27, 1921, in Winchester, Ky., the daughter of Jesse and Lillian (Richardson) Krontz. She was owner of Hour Glass Bar for 15 years and a home health aide for 25 years. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Moose Lodge 2094 and a life member of VFW 3360 Auxiliary.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. John (Patricia) Chesnick of Glendale, Ariz., Roberta Crampton of Almogordo, N.M., and Mrs. James (Diana) Engel and Mrs. Philip (Linda) Goller, both of Defiance; a brother, Charles Krontz, Basset, Va.; and 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a son, Charles; a daughter, Paula Jean; a brother, Paul Krontz; two sisters, Justine Cupp and Rebecca Slater; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Deacon Charles Baker officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance or Harborside Healthcare's activity fund.

Gloria McGill
PAULDING - Gloria D. McGill, 73, Paulding, died Thursday in her residence.
She was born April 1, 1929, in Paulding, the daughter of Leo and Bessie (Grimes) Rife. In 1946, she married Robert McGill, who preceded her in death. She was a businesswoman and she and her husband owned McGill's Cafe, Sherwood, for 30 years.
Surviving are two sons, Larry of Farmer and Bob, Edgerton; two daughters, Carol Hull of Sherwood and Nancy Owens, Delaware Bend; a sister, Donna Dangler, Paulding; two brothers, Albert Rife of Paulding and Jack Rife, Warsaw, Ind.; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a sister, Patricia Etter.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Rice Funeral Home, Sherwood. Private burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Defiance, at a later date. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today and 2-4 p.m. Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to Sherwood Branch Library.

Mildred Hayes
VAN WERT - Mildred R. Hayes, 76, Van Wert, died at 3:58 p.m. Thursday in Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born April 11, 1925, in Van Wert, the daughter of Richard and Marguerite (Lewis) Bell. In 1949, she married Byron Hayes, who died in 1997. She worked at Van Wert County Hospital Twigs Thrift Shop and attended First Baptist Church, Van Wert.
Surviving are a son, Richard, Van Wert; a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Penelope) Snyder, Paulding; a sister, Mrs. Ray (Shirley) Davis, Van Wert; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a brother, Harry Bell.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the church with Rev. Joseph Laing officiating. Burial will be in Ridge cemetery, Middle Point. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Saturday in Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, and one hour prior to services Sunday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to Van Wert County Cancer Society.

Virginia Perry
Virginia Perry, 82, Defiance, died at 7:27 p.m. Tuesday in Brookview Healthcare. Surviving is her husband, Jim. Arrangements are pending at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.

James Coleman Sr.
KUNKLE - James Douglas Coleman Sr., 65, Kunkle, died Tuesday in his home.
He was born May 16, 1936, in Pike County, Ky., the son of Jack and Sola Mae (Harmon) Coleman. In 1973, he married Artie Gilman, who survives. He was a spot welder at Bard Manufacturing, Bryan, for 29 years, retiring in 1997.
Also surviving are a son, James Jr.; a daughter, Jackie, Bryan; three stepsons, James Gibson Sr. of Pioneer, David Gibson of Reading, Calif., and Frank Gibson, Anderson, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Charles (Elizabeth) Hardy, Fayetteville, W.Va.; a brother, Darrell, Rockhouse, Ky.; and two sisters, Manda Hawkins of Rockhouse and Patsy Kauffman, Orlando, Fla.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother, Dallas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Rice Funeral Home, Bryan, with Rev. Jim Hibbard officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Grove cemetery, Bryan. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to South Woodbridge Pentecostal Church of God's youth group building fund, Hillsdale, Mich.

James Gilliland
NAPOLEON - James H. Gilliland, 75, Napoleon, died Monday afternoon in Henry County Hospital, Napoleon.
He was born July 14, 1926, in Malinta, the son of Levi and Leah (Parrot) Gilliland. In 1950, he married Leona Polker, who survives. He worked at numerous auto repair shops in Napoleon and retired from Nichol's Bakery, Napoleon, in 1987. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II as a mechanic, a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Holgate and a life member of American Legion Post 300 and VFW Post 8218, Napoleon.
Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth of Holgate and David, ReoRancho, N.M.; three daughters, Ann Marckel of Defiance and Terrie Casarez and Missey Pritchard, both of Napoleon; two brothers, Vernon of Napoleon and Richard, Wayne; and 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Letty Jean; a brother, Frank; and two sisters, Marion Cordes and Opal Stewart.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with Rev. Jane Hillman officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, with a VFW memorial service at 8:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to American Heart Association, the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

James Speiser
NAPOLEON - James Charles Speiser, 82, Napoleon, died Monday evening in his home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1919, in Defiance, the son of Glenn and Clara (Clemens) Speiser. In 1939, he married Patricia Parker, who died in 1974. He worked at Napoleon Hardware and founded Jim Speiser & Sons Electric, Napoleon, where he worked for 55 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II on the U.S.S. Enterprise as an electrician, and a life member of VFW Post 8218, American Legion Post 300, AMVETS Post 1313 and Elks Lodge 929. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, American Legion men's golf league and St. Augustine Catholic Church and a trustee at VFW Post 8218.
Surviving are four sons, John, Michael, Timothy and Thomas, all of Napoleon; a daughter, Julianna Gatza, Flushing, Mich.; a special friend, Jo Anne Funchion, Napoleon; and 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were a son, Scott; a brother, Richard; and two sisters, Helene Gilliland and Mary Ann Ott.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the church with Father Ron Brickner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by joint veterans' posts of Napoleon. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, with an Elks' memorial service at 8:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice of Henry County or St. Augustine Catholic School.

Vivian Newcomb
WAUSEON - Vivian R. Newcomb, 76, Wauseon, died Sunday.
She was born June 22, 1925, in Smithville, the daughter of Calvin and Loah (Koons) Bixler. In 1943, she married Wendell Newcomb, who survives. She worked as a secretary for 30 years at Winorr Canning Co., Fulton Manufacturing and Wauseon's water department and was a member of Wauseon Christ United Methodist Church.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Michelle) Loukotka, Ann Arbor, Mich.; three sons, Thomas of Defiance, Kevin of Mentor and Tracey, Wauseon; a brother, Calvin Bixler, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Owen (Dana) Beatty of Delta, Mrs. Walter (Evelyn) Cooley of Wichita Falls, Texas, Mrs. Charles (Mary Lou) Rettstatt of Doylestown, Pa., and Mrs. Arthur (Lois) Germann, Napoleon; and nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Fairlawn Haven Chapel, Archbold, with Rev. Charles Gautsche officiating. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday in the chapel. Handling arrangements is Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon.
Preferred memorials are to Archbold Fire and EMS, Hospice or the church.Dolores Barnett
WESTON - Dolores Stockstill Barnett, 71, Weston, died at 12 p.m. Sunday in Bluffton, Ind.
She was born Dec. 9, 1930, in Picher, Okla., the daughter of Orville and Edna (Raney) Stockstill. In 1952, she married Jack Barnett, who died in 1998. She was a former director for Senior Citizens Centers in Dugger, Ind., and an apartment manager for Riverview Estates, Napoleon. The U.S. Air Force Airman First Class was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of Women's Air Force Marching Band. She attended Oklahoma State University, was a member of Picher United Methodist Church and Pythian Sisters, Peru, Ind., a past president and soloist of Indiana Rebekah Lodge and a grand matriarch of Patriarch Militant Auxiliary.
Surviving are four sons, Rick of Deshler, Randy of Sylvania, Ronny of Columbus Grove, and Robby; two daughters, Mrs. Kurt (Tracy) Gilbertson of Peru and Teresa DeLaCruz, Weston; a sister, Mrs. Edwin (Sharon) Williams, Commerce, Okla.; a brother, Orville Stockstill Jr., Miami, Okla.; and nine grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Also preceding her in death was a granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler. Burial will be in Lulu cemetery, Ida, Mich. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to American Diabetes Association.
