Carl Browns
Carl W. Browns, 88, Defiance, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Brookview Healthcare Center.
He was born March 7, 1913, in Defiance County, the son of Benjamin and Vera (Ashton) Browns. In 1938, he married
Leeta Clark, who survives. He began working with State Farm Insurance in 1958 and was an agent for 34 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and its Maranatha class and served as trustee and Sunday school superintendent. He was a former master of Tuendawie Lodge of Masons, a high priest of Ensamoose Chapter, Royal Arch Masons; master of Oc-co-nox-eee Council, royal and select master and commandery knight templar and had been elected to membership in Ohio Priority.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Cheryl) Hahr, Defiance; a son, Gary, New Haven, Ind.; three sisters, Kathryn Wolf and Marjorie Weaver of Bryan and Valeria Browns, Defiance; a brother, Valmer, Defiance; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Alvin and Darrel.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Dr. Roger Braun and Rev. Keith Hunsinger officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Mason Temple's endowment fund.
Nina Colwell
Nina R. Colwell, 79, rural Defiance, died at 6:55 a.m. today in Laurels of Defiance.
She was born March 26, 1922, in Defiance, the daughter of LaVern and Ethel (Schubert) Hale. In 1942, she married
James (Bud) Colwell, who survives. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John United Church of Christ.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Barton (Jane) Scott of Defiance and Mrs. Bill (Mary) Degler, Archbold; a sister, Doris Irene Brechbill, Defiance; a brother, Edgar Hale, Ney; and a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Services are pending in the church. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Friday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.
Preferred memorials are to the church.
Aurelia Burke
Aurelia K. Burke, 87, Defiance, died at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday in Toledo Hospital.
She was born July 31, 1914, in St. Cloud, Minn., the daughter of George and Katherine (Rau) Hartmann. In 1933, she married
Christopher Burke, who died in 1979. She was a manager in retail sales, a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud and its Daughters of Isabella and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church, Defiance.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Penny, Defiance; a son, Dennis, Las Vegas; a sister, Bernadette Kaiser, Royal Oak, Mich.; and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a grandson and sister, in infancy.
Services are pending at Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud. There will be no visitation. Handling local arrangements is Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.
Preferred memorials are to Defiance Area Visiting Nurses.
Harold Wells
CONTINENTAL - Harold E. Wells, 83, Continental, died at 7:25 a.m. Wednesday in Putnam Acres Nursing Home, Ottawa.
He was born April 30, 1918, in Continental, the son of Carl and Alta (Wight) Wells. In 1989, he married
Nevah Kent Wells, who survives. He was in the service for 45 years and had earned the rank of lieutenant colonel. He began his military career in 1940 serving in the U.S. Army Infantry, U.S. Army Ordinance and U.S. Air Force and worked at Martin Marietta Aerospace in Florida. He was a civil servant in U.S. Army Material Development and Readiness Command in Virginia, worked for the U.S. Army as a civilian at the Pentagon and received the Military Merit Department of Army Commanders Award for Civil Service and a World War II medal. He had been a member of American Military Society, National Association for Uniformed Service and DAV post and was a life member of Columbus Grove American Legion Post. He was a retired farmer and member of Lima Philharmonic Concert Band, the Findlay, Defiance and Lima Salvation Army bands, Elks Lodge and Kaiser-Fraiser Club.
Also surviving are a son, David, Massapequa Park, N.Y.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Shailla) Cardons of Gathersburg, Md., and Diane, Portland, Ore.; two stepsons, Carl Kent of Continental and Kenny Kent, Defiance; a brother, Kenneth, Indian Rock Beach, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Nelson (Doris) Kritzler, Kenton; and four grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and nine great-stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding him in death was an infant son.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental, with Rev. Greg Wack officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Chapel cemetery, Oakwood, with military rites conducted by Columbus Grove American Legion. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday until services.
Preferred memorials are to Continental Untied Methodist Church, Putnam Acres Care Center or a charity of the donor's choice.
Marie Kauser
ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Former Defiance resident Marie E. Kauser, 82, Englewood, died at 4:28 p.m. Monday in Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota.
She was born Aug. 17, 1919, in Paulding County, the daughter of Frank and Matilda (Schlegel) Hoeffel. In 1940, she married
Willis Kauser, who died in November. She was a teacher at Sherwood, school psychologist at Defiance City Schools, retiring in 1985 after more than 30 years in education with 10 years as a school psychologist. She was a member of Business Women's Club of Sherwood, Alpha Delta Kappa, Four County Mental Health Board, Ohio and Defiance County Retired Teachers' associations and Ohio Psychologist Association.
Surviving are a son, Dennis, Sedalia, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Jeffery (Mari) Showalter, Englewood; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Claire and Raymond Hoeffel.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Stephen Catholic Church, Delaware Bend, with Fathers William Martin and G. Allan Fillman officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul cemetery, Paulding County. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance.

Virginia Doster
OAKWOOD - Virginia L. Doster, 77, Oakwood, died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday in Hawthorn Court Nursing Home, Paulding.
She was born Feb. 24, 1924, in Junction, the daughter of Charles and Matilda (Klima) Yenser. In 1940, she married
Russell Doster, who died in 1992. She worked at Brown's Bakery, Defiance, and retired from Ft. Defiance Linens. She was a member of Dupont Church of the Brethren and Black Swamp CB Club.
Surviving are three sons, Clyde, Charles and Gale, all of Oakwood; three daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Carolyn) Snavley of Kalida, Mrs. Gary (Kathryn) Golliver of Grover Hill and Margaret Keeterle, Defiance; two brothers, Gale Yenser of Defiance and Walter Yenser, Paulding; five sisters, Amy Noffsinger of Continental, Emma Brown of Defiance, Lucille Dangler of Cecil, Mrs. Vestel (Evelyn) Schlegel of Paulding and Viva Brown, Nappanee, Ind.; and 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 14 stepgrandchildren, 18 great-stepgrandchildren and nine great-great-stepgrandchildren.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Roy and William Yenser; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood, with Pastor Chris Baker officiating. Burial will be Sherman cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Friday.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Paulding County Hospice.
John Comadoll
OTTAWA - Former Paulding resident John Franklin Comadoll, 69, Ottawa, died at 12:45 a.m. today in St. Rita's Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center.
He was born June 25, 1932, in Defiance, the son of John and Velma (Manley) Comadoll. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic and had been employed at Compo Corp. and Haviland Muffler Co., Defiance.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a twin sister, Barbara Bryant.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.
Hermalinda Lopez
SAN FRANCISCO - Word was received of the Jan. 14 death of Hermalinda N. Lopez, 38, San Francisco.
She was born Feb. 7, 1963, in Texas, the daughter of Conrad and Elva (Gomez) Lopez. She attended Stryker High School.
Surviving are a sister, Catalina DeLeon, San Antonio, Texas; and a grandmother, Eva Gomez, Stryker.
Preceding her in death was her mother.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Stryker.
Patricia Brodbeck
STRYKER - Patricia Roseann Brodbeck, 66, Stryker, died Tuesday evening at Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo, following an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 20, 1935, in Medina, the daughter of Floyd and Eulalia (Dickey) Slusser. In 1956, she married
Robert Brodbeck, who survives. She worked at Metal Forge, Stryker, for 20 years and was a member of West Unity American Legion Post 669 Auxiliary, Bryan VFW Post Auxiliary, Defiance Moose Lodge 2094 and Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233.
Also surviving are a son, Terry, West Unity; a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Debra) Smith, Montpelier; two brothers, Ralph Slusser of Coldwater and Harold Slusser, Dayton; and four grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and a sister, Betty.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker, with Rev. Nick Woodall officiating. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.
Preferred memorials are to the family.

Services for Glen (Honker) R. Church were held Wednesday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Ramey officiating. Burial was in Monroe cemetery, Continental. Pallbearers were Duane and Anthony Church, Michael and James Osborne, Bruce Davenport and Curtis Charles.

OAKWOOD - Virginia Doster, 79, Oakwood, died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday in Hawthorne Court, Paulding. Arrangements are pending at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood.
Tariq Lashari
SUGAR LAND, Texas - Word was received of the Jan. 28 death of Tariq (Vinny) Lashari, 25, Sugar Land, following a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 7, 1977, in Houston, the son of Saleem and Barbara (Hill) Lashari.
Surviving are his mother, Sugar Land; his father and stepmother, Sapurah, Sugar Land; two sisters, Noreen and Marissa, Sugar Land; a half brother, Shaan, Sugar Land; a half sister, Sara, Sugar Land; and grandparents, Alvin and Dorothy Hill of Napoleon and Arshad Lashari, Lahore, Pakistan.
Services were held Feb. 1 in Christ United Methodist Church, Sugar Land. Burial was in Morton cemetery, Richmond. Hernandez Funeral Home, Rosenberg, handled arrangements.
