Agnes Lentz
HILLSDALE, Mich. - Defiance County native Agnes J. Lentz, 90, Hillsdale, died Sunday in her home.
She was born Jan. 11, 1912, in Defiance County, the daughter of Wade and Mary (Gares) Rethmel. In 1939, she married
Garnett Lentz, who died in 1995. She attended Bowling Green Normal College and received a degree in education from Michigan State Normal College in Ypsilanti. She taught in rural schools in Tiffin Township, Holgate, North Adams and Gier Elementary School, Hillsdale, and was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hillsdale, National Education Association and Association of Retired Teachers.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Carolyn) Lentz Tarzia of Ann Arbor and Mrs. Robert (Mary Ann) Lentz Marks, South Lyon; a son, Larry, Melbourne, Fla.; a sister, Helen Hoskinson, rural Defiance; a brother, Frank Rethmel, rural Defiance; and three granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a brother, Herman Rethmel.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with Rev. Dan Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Evansport cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Visitation is from 3-5 and 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday in VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home, Hillsdale.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Hospice of Hillsdale.
Joyce Sanders
LARGO, Fla. - Joyce Elaine Sanders, 55, Largo, died Friday at Largo Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was born, Dec. 6, 1946, in Wauseon, the daughter of Lloyd and Agnes (Woodward) Johnston. She was an operator for a local telephone company and an answering service employee in Largo.
Surviving are her father and a step-mother, Christine (Donovan) Johnston; and a brother, Dale, Winterhaven.
Preceding her in death was her mother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Christian Church, Wauseon. Burial will be in Wauseon Union cemetery. Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to the church's memorial fund.
Warren Walter
MARBLEHEAD - Former Defiance resident Warren J. Walter, 76, Marblehead, died Saturday evening at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born March 26, 1925, in Bloomville, the son of Warren and Vergie (Hull) Walter. In 1946, he married
Rachel Jones, who survives. He was a production superintendent for Johns Manville, Defiance, retiring in 1980. The U.S. Navy veteran of World War II was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, Lakeside.
Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. James (Betsy) Redd of Archbold, Mrs. Doug (Vicki) Kohli of Circleville, Mrs. Tom (Jill) Cunningham of Powell, and Mrs. Bob (Lori) Letterman, Plantation, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Paul and DeWight; and a sister, Jeanie Schaper.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in Grelton cemetery, Grelton. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Neidecker-LeVeck and Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead.

Raymond Hogrefe
NAPOLEON - Raymond Hogrefe, 81, Napoleon, died at 7:40 a.m. Sunday in his residence.
He was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Henry County's Freedom Township, the son of Lewis and Helen (Cordes) Hogrefe. In 1945, he married
Marcella Hoffman, who survives. He was a truck driver for Home Oil Co., Napoleon, for 30 years before retiring in 1986, and a bus driver for Napoleon City Schools until 1988. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving as a Tech 5 in the 95th Division of the 360th Field Artillery Battalion, and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon, Bert G. Taylor American Legion Post 300, VFW Post 8218 and 95th Division Association of Chicago.
Also surviving are two sons, Ronald of Mullberry, Fla., and Richard, Napoleon; a sister, Mrs. Delbert (Ruth) Rickenberg, Napoleon; a brother, Walter, Napoleon; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Florence Willis and Frances Johnston; and a brother, Arnold.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with Pastors Norman Koy and Peter Marcis officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery with military rites conducted by joint veterans posts of Napoleon. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, and one hour prior to services Wednesday in the church.

NAPOLEON - Robert L. Hugo, 40, Napoleon, died this morning in his home. Arrangements are pending in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon.
Margaret Emmons
WAUSEON - Margaret Louise Emmons, 73, Wauseon, died Friday in her home.
She was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Fulton County's York Township, the daughter of Lowell and Estella (King) Batdorf. She married
Art Emmons, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of VFW Post 7574, American Legion Post 265 and Elks Lodge auxiliaries, all of Wauseon.
Surviving are her mother, Estella Cole; a son, David, Santa Maria, Calif.; a brother, Robert Batdorf, Toledo; and a sister, Darla Kutzli, Wauseon.
Also preceding her in death was her father.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Hope Christian Fellowship, Wauseon, with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. There is no visitation. Handling arrangements is Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon.
Preferred memorials are to VFW, American Legion or Elks auxiliaries or America Cancer Society.
Katherine Theobald
WEST UNITY - Katherine A. Theobald, 96, West Unity, died Sunday morning in Harborside Healthcare, Bryan.
She was born Aug. 17, 1905, in London, England, the daughter of George and Caroline Bradbee. She immigrated to the United States in 1910. In 1933, she married
Paul Theobald, who died in 1948. She was a waitress, cook, home health care assistant and a former member of Moose Lodge 312, Montpelier.
Surviving are a son, Thomas Bradbee, Port Clinton; two daughters, Caroline Thompson and JoAnn Langham, both of West Unity; and 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Pauline Mullins; a brother, George Bradbee; three sisters, Helen Kerr, Evelyn Shadle and Josephine Souder; and a grandson.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Wauseon Union cemetery with Rev. William Kight officiating. There is no visitation. Handling arrangements is Hollingshead Funeral Home, West Unity.
Preferred memorials are to Easter Seals.

Genevieve Miller
Genevieve M. Miller, 87, Defiance, died at 1:02 a.m. Saturday in her residence.
She was born Sept. 28, 1914, in Defiance, the daughter of Bernard and Lulu (Ankney) Mohr. In 1939, she married
Darrell Miller, who died in 1992. She worked as a secretary in the Defiance County Treasurer's office, was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was a former CCD teacher, member of its Noodle Club and worked in the food pantry. She was founder of Black Swamp Audubon Society, member of Red Cross for 50 years, 1971 and 1985 Red Cross Citizen of the Year and Silver Certificate Award recipient and was a member of Ladies Of the Elks 147.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were five sisters, Lucille Hartsel, Rita Sauer, Agnes Skiver and two sisters in infancy; and three brothers, John Sr., Bernard and Frank Mohr.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church with Father Tim Kummerer officiating. Burial is in Riverview Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Monday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with a rosary service at 4:30 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to American Red Cross or the church's food pantry.
Doris Fannin
ANTWERP - Doris F. (Dory) Fannin, 72, Antwerp, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday, in Hawthorn Court, Paulding.
She was born April 26, 1929, in Antwerp, the daughter of Henry and Verna (Radenbaugh) Helsel. In 1956, she married
Joseph Fannin, who died in 1999. She worked as an assembler for 35 years at Dana Weatherhead, was a member of Antwerp VFW Post 5087 Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors and a former member of Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are a son, Tim, Madison; three daughters, Connie Champion, Nancy Williams and Sandee Buffington, all of Antwerp; a sister, Mildred Rosselet, Holgate; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were seven sisters; and a grandson.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday in Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, with Rev. Tom Travis officiating. Burial is in Maumee cemetery, Antwerp. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home with an Antwerp VFW Auxiliary service conducted at 7:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to Alzheimer's Association, Toledo.
Cyril Siebenaler
BRYAN - Cyril A. Siebenaler, 87, Bryan, died Friday at Dilworth Center, Montpelier.
He was born Jan. 2, 1915, in Blakeslee. He was married
to Marie Lirot, who died. He then married
Joyce Flinn, who survives. He was a farmer, member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, charter member of Blakeslee Knights of Columbus, Father DeVeaux Council 3883 and Loyal Order of Moose, Bryan.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John (Barbara) Powell, Lebanon, Ky.; four sons, John, Leo, Daniel and James, all of Edon; a stepson, Randy Flinn, Bryan; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Patty) Taylor, Montpelier; three sisters, Eleanore Duffley, of Dayton, and Sisters Agnes and Elizabeth, both of Tiffin; and 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 11 stepgrandchildren and 8 great-stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were an infant son, Anthony; a stepson, Robert Flinn; a sister, Margaret McDonald; and three brothers, Vincent, Lawrence and Albert.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with Father Fred Duschl officiating. Burial is in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Blakeslee. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. today in Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home, Bryan.
Preferred memorials are to the church's building fund.
Edna Ellis
BRYAN - Edna M. Ellis, 70, Bryan, died at 4:10 a.m. Saturday in Community Hospitals of Williams County, Bryan, following an extended illness.
She was born March 10, 1931, in Maryville, Tenn., the daughter of Gladys (Irwin) Witsaman. In 1950, she married
Robert Ellis, who died in 2001. She worked as a bookkeeper in the accounting department at Bryan Custom Plastics, where she retired.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Carol) Dimando, of Toledo, Mrs. Greg (Elizabeth) St. John and Judy, both of St. Cloud, Fla.; her mother, Edgerton; a sister, Mary McDonald, Kissimmee, Fla.; three brothers, Robert and Richard Witsaman, both of Edgerton, and William Witsaman, Cleveland; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two granddaughters.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Kevin Orr officiating. Burial is in Shiffler cemetery, near Bryan. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are to the donor's choice.
