James Lowe
NEY - James D. Lowe, 66, Ney, died Thursday in Community Hospitals of Williams County-Bryan.
He was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Canton, Ill., the son of Annabelle Lowe. In 1956, he married
Shirley Patten, who survives. He worked at Ney Lumber Co.
Also surviving are a son, David, Olivia, Minn.; two daughters, Julie Stuckey of Defiance and Mrs. Tom (Beth) Oestreicher, Cincinnati; a brother, Gene Laupzenheiser, Edon; a sister, Karen Stutzman, Bradenton, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his mother and stepfather.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker, with Rev. Dwight Bowers officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services.
Preferred memorials are to American Heart Association.
Joseph DeCair
NAPOLEON - Joseph Arthur DeCair, 62, Napoleon, died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday in his home.
He was born April 29, 1939, in Muskegon, Mich., the son of DeForest and Sarah (Hawks) DeCair. In 1959, he married
Carma Whitmill, who survives. He worked at Campbell Soup Supply Co., Napoleon, for 38 years, was a bus driver at Napoleon and Tinora schools for 20 years and a driver and maintenance man at Filling Memorial Home of Mercy, Napoleon. The U.S. Army veteran was a member and former deacon of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Napoleon and a member of Napoleon Police Auxiliary, Napoleon Volunteer Fire Department and Napoleon Volunteer Rescue.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jose (Debra) Guerra of Cincinnati and Mrs. Randy (Sheri) Schliesser, Defiance; a brother, George, Holland; three sisters, Delores Carlston of Pittsbury, Calif., Sara Stokes of Bowling Green and Virginia Judd, Elkon, Ky.; and three grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, DeForest Jr., Charles, Donald and Daniel; and a sister, Peggy Quintanella.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the church with Pastor James Updegraff officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Sunday in Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, and one hour prior to services Monday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church building fund or Hospice the Caring way of Defiance.
Florice Wilhelm
PAULDING - Florice M. Wilhelm, 74, Paulding, died at 10:47 p.m. Wednesday in her daughter's residence in Paulding.
She was born May 28, 1927, in Paulding, the daughter of Edward and Ethel (Brown) Beamer. In 1944, she married
Peter Wilhelm, who died in 1982. She was the owner/operator of Wilhelm Mobile Home Sales and Park in Paulding, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and life member of Paulding VFW Post 587 Auxiliary and Eagles Aerie 2405 Golden Eagle Auxiliary, where she held the state office of conductress and was a former Mother of the Year.
Surviving are a son, Keith, Paulding; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Sheila) Christian of Denver, and Julie Pastor, Paulding; two brothers, Ronald Beamer of Paulding, and Donald Beamer, Ft. Myers, Fla.; a sister, Marilyn Edwards, Paulding; and 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Norma Rae Beamer and Marjorie Bordner; and a brother, Edward Beamer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the church with Rev. G. Allan Fillman officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul cemetery, Paulding. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Sunday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with a wake service at 7 p.m. and a VFW Auxiliary service at 8 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to Paulding Area Visiting Nurses and Hospice.
David Orta
FORT WAYNE - David Orta, 42, Fort Wayne, died Wednesday in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born Jan. 1, 1960, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Daniel and Oralia (Munoz) Orta. His wife, Tammy, survives. He was a foreman at Superior Aluminum, Fort Wayne.
Also surviving are two sons, David and Michael, at home; a daughter, Hope Johnson, Warren, Mich.; three sisters, Junita Zapien of Archbold, Maria Sierra of Waukegan, Ill., and Christina, Defiance; eight brothers, Alfred and Rudy Sierra and Daniel, all of Defiance, Jose Sierra of Waukegan, Edward Sierra of Findlay, Rick of Des Moines, Iowa, and John and Santiago, both of Toledo.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Central Mennonite Church, Fort Wayne, with Pastor Don Delegrange officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, and one hour prior to services Sunday in the church.
Preferred memorials are to the children's memorial fund.
Mary Kaufman
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Mary Anne Kaufman, 37, Louisville, died Monday in Norton Hospital, Louisville.
She was born Jan. 11, 1964, in Findlay, the daughter of John and Veronica (Santo) Kromer. She married
John Kaufman, who survives. She was a veterinary assistant at Shively Animal Clinic, Louisville, and a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1984-92.
Also surviving are her parents; a daughter, Holly Dill; two brothers, John Jr. and Richard Kromer; a sister, Elizabeth Schmidt; and her grandmother, Dora Madden.
Preceding her in death were grandparents, Stephen and Anne Santo.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulding, with Deacon John Kromer Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Paulding Memorial cemetery. There is no visitation. Handling arrangements is Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.
Betty Barkley
Graveside services for Payne native Betty L. Barkley will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Wiltsie cemetery, Payne, with Rev. John Utterback officiating. Visitation is from noon-3 p.m. Saturday in Slade Funeral Home, Payne.
Ruth Walley
EDGERTON - Ruth L. Walley, 91, Edgerton, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday in her home.
She was born Oct. 23, 1910, in Edgerton, the daughter of Earl and Iva (Paine) Dunlap. In 1937, she married
Bernard Walley, who died in 1963. She was an organist and member of Edgerton Church of Christ, treasurer and deputy clerk for the village of Edgerton until her retirement and clerk of Edgerton's bureau of public affairs and Maple Grove cemetery. She was a charter member and past president of Edgerton Business and Professional Women and member of John D. Smith American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary. She worked at Edgerton State Bank Co., was chairman of the American Red Cross bloodmobile in Edgerton and attended Tri-State College.
Surviving are three sons, James of Edgerton, Jerry of Antwerp, and Stephen, Ringold, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Dan (Kathy) Grant, Edgerton; a brother, Robert Dunlap, Edgerton; and 16 grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and six great-stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, John; a brother, Boyd Dunlap; and a sister, Wanda Smith.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with Pastors Fred Lab and D.V. Dillinger officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Edgerton. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Friday in Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton.
Preferred memorials are to the church.
Mary Elling
OKOLONA - Mary M. Riebesel Elling, 75, rural Okolona, died Tuesday afternoon in her home.
She was born June 22, 1926, in Napoleon, the daughter of Fred and Frances (Nartker) Bost. In 1946, she married
Henry Riebesel, who died in 1970. In 1977, she married
Fred Elling, who died in 1983. She worked at Dick's Pastries, Napoleon, for 10 years and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Napoleon.
Surviving are three sons, James and Richard Riebesel, both of Napoleon, and John Riebesel, Toledo; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Sue) Moser, Ridgeville Corners; a brother, Robert Bost, Napoleon; a sister, Mrs. James (Betty) Jackson, Napoleon; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Bill Riebesel; a sister, Mildred Bost; and a brother, Harold Bost.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, with Deacon Robert Bost officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery, Napoleon. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Friday.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance or a charity of the donor's choice.

Florice Wilhelm
PAULDING - Florice M. Wilhelm, 74, Paulding, died at 11:47 p.m. Wednesday in her daughter's residence in Paulding. She was the widow of Peter Wilhelm. Arrangements are pending at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding.
Alta Melia
Alta B. Melia, 95, Defiance, died at 11:33 a.m. Tuesday in Harborside Healthcare.
She was born Jan. 27, 1906, in Putnam County, the daughter of Daniel and Clara Belle (Stauffer) Weller. In 1929, she married
George Melia, who died in 1961. She was a cook at Defiance Hospital from 1962-72 and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Toad of Continental, and Floyd and Butch, both of Defiance; a daughter, Mrs. George (Anna Belle) Schroeder, Paisley, Fla.; and 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Donald; a daughter, Waneta; five brothers, Harry, John, Ray, Coy and Guy Weller; a sister, Alma McCague; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Dr. Roger Braun officiating. Burial will be in North Mount Zion cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Thursday.

Mary Riebesel Elling, 75, Defiance, died Tuesday afternoon in her home. Arrangements are pending at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon.
John Grime
ARCHBOLD - John J. Grime, 96, Archbold, died Tuesday morning in his home.
He was born Feb. 10, 1905, in Archbold, the son of Adolph and Emma (Leu) Grime. In 1933, he married
Florence Curtis, who survives. He worked at Sauder Woodworking, Archbold, for 15 years, and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Archbold.
Also surviving are a daughter, Deanna Ziegler, Findlay; three sons, Richard of Archbold, Howard of Defiance and John, Napoleon; and 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Teresa VanPelt; a sister, Margarete Miller; and five brothers, Herschel, Earl, Donald, Lowell and Schuyler.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the church with Rev. Father Gary Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Thursday at the church. Handling arrangements is Grisier Funeral Home, Archbold.
